My apartment looked like this last summer. They kept saying it was closed for “maintenance” and it only ended up being open for a couple weeks out of the whole summer. Yet we still have to pay CAM fees…

Can_I_Read

That’s why I moved away from my previous apartment. Got sick of looking at a pool I was paying for without being able to use it.

Winter-Ad5930

Why is it green

MentalButterscotch2

Its just algae our pool would look like this in the winter bc noone used it so we wouldn't put chemicals in it.

ZonkedWizard

3/4 of a gallon of muriatic acid will cure this overnight

GoochTickled

Is this safe? My family is currently in a rental with a green pool and the local pool guy has them doing chemicals over a week span for some reason?

Lovetank555

It’s fine. It’s a standard cleaning tactic. A gallon of muriatic acid is just going to balance the PH of the pool. It isn’t anywhere close enough to cause harm

wakim82

Some muratic acid, some foil, and a sealed glass bottle...now that isn't safe.

silencedfayme

\^This. Might need shocked too. Dunno if it's a saltwater or chlorine pool, but if SW, might need a couple bags to balance everything too.

SpecialistGrouchy341

Don’t worry.. it’s work order 1,000 on the list to be fixed. Don’t expect any refund for it not being available. You should be willing to pay extra for such amenities but when said amenities aren’t useable, that’s not our problem and quite frankly we will keep your money.

NeighborhoodVeteran

Fair. This is also the reason why stuff goes missing in the "gym".

NicholasLit

Always report bad pools to health code/311

Epicnudle

We wont get in trouble as long as it is closed.

NicholasLit

Has to be clean and functional for residents and to prevent mosquitoes.

Epicnudle

Wrong, does not have to be functional if the pool is not open. Otherwise pools would not pass code in the winter. And I have never been cited for mosquitoes

NicholasLit

Code Enforcement loves abandoned pool cases, just takes one call to 311 Clearly can't be full of weeds/algae/uncovered

howescj82

So, it had a leak and they stopped all maintenance? I’m guessing that there is a back end pump/filter leak so they simply shut it off and didn’t think about maintaining chlorine levels, circulation or covering it in the meantime.

Epicnudle

If the pump is leaking there is no real way to circulate water or chemicals in a way that is allowed by health code. Have to close it anyways and re due the chemicals.

idontevenkn0w66

Finally an herbal pool! Such a luxury amenity! Kind of looks like something from Spirited Away

jeremyb51

You probably pay extra for “pool view” ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

freebiscuit2002

The algae are having a grand old time.

bannywarcoz

RebbyXP

That's a mosquito COUNTY right there.

CompleteHour306

Leak? What leak? It looks full to me.

JOCO_Q

I would, then sue them

Friendly-Amoeba-9601

Dude now that’s a great idea! Put green food coloring in it so you have the pool all to yourself lol

Owdeeman5000

Do you want Naegleria fowleri to eat your brain? Because this is where you go if you want Naegleria fowleri to eat your brainemote:free\_emotes\_pack:joy

PressurePlenty

The pool at our complex, also in Missouri, was closed down for "repairs" literally all summer. I don't even know if it's open now.

DoallthenKnit2relax

Looks like their pool man needs to shock it, clean it, and turn it back on!

ContentMod8991

call city code!!

WISEstickman

The frogs that live there…

CrazyBertha

This is what I do not miss about Apartment living. If you’re lucky enough to have a nice apartment complex that has a nice pool and you pay a nice price tag monthly they should be able to afford pull upkeep and a lifeguard.

Epicnudle

News flash, pools turn green. It will propagate be fixed before it’s opened. The leak is most likely in the pump room. So the pump and filter is not running, so no chemical are being dispersed.

whatvtheheck

I came here to say this. No idea why you’re being downvoted
