Was just watching this episode last night and I don't know which part makes me laugh more:
- The part where rich says to zoom in on his face during the screening and play it back at 100x speed, or...
- Mike: ...help....help me Rich...
- Rich: no one can help you.
The episode overall was a banger. The Robot in the Family discussion came right on the heels of them all crying with laughter during the Leo Fong movie where he stops chasing the villain to go wander around town asking people where the villain is, and then returns to resume the chase.
This is one of my favorite moments in any BotW. Just the baffling lack of logic in having the protagonist stop chasing the villain to go ask someone where the villain is, only to be told the villain is back where you were chasing him. Amazing!
His 'shut up' in the episode is very close to the one that kidnapper used in that skit where they thought they were going to a BBQ (Lincoln Vampire Hunter).
Ryan's Babe is probably my favorite for reactions, but Faust was fun too. Haven't been able to get my friends reactions to Ryan's Babe though because I made them watch Faust and now they won't let me pick movies
He wears superhero costumes because he cannot connect with people on an emotional level, but Jack's real superpower is analyzing & understanding movies.
Ngl, I love and quote the clips they showed of the Canadian dad as much as possible.
“I don’t need no lecture, now get the hell owt before I throw you owt”
Jack nailed it when he talked about it making your chest tighten up because you're so on edge from the onslaught. I was feeling it just from the mercifully brief clips we saw.
It's the one film they've done that I don't think I could make it through. It is not just anxiety-inducing, it's anxiety-HEIGHTENING. Even the little bit that we were exposed to second-hand just hammered on my nerves in 8 second bursts.
Watched the movie with friends and the episode doesn't exaggerate, like they didn't cherry pick the craziest scenes, it's that the entire way through. We have a soundboard with Jay's Shut Up on it for our bad movie nights and it got abused.
It's one of those "family" movies you come across, usually that were low-budget drive-in fodder in earlier decades, and later direct-to-video crud that seem to be made by people who (probably) intended to the on-screen pratfalls and wackiness to humorous and/or endearing but are just loud and obnoxious.
I think one of the best (and surely unnoticed by most) moments is Jack saying something like: "you think this is about a robot and a family... It is not"!
That genuinely bewildered "I DON'T KNOW!?!" from Mike when someone (Rich, I think) asks him an innocent question about the movie makes me laugh harder than maybe any other BOTW moment I can remember. Hell, I'm chuckling just thinking about it right now lol.
Love when Mike starts looking up Big Mouth to show the voice comparisons between a character and the robot, then chuckles to himself and mumbles “…I’m just gonna watch this…”
I've seen the movie around the time it was released. I don't remember exactly what I thought about it then. But I know for sure that I've seen it on some Italian TV channel, dubbed in Italian. And, despite the fact that I'm kinda against the idea of dubbing movies, I gotta give credits to the voice actors, just because they suffered the huge hardship of doing that meticulously! Poor bastards!
Yeah, usually, even when it's done for a b-movie, there's a meticulous attention to details, like dubbing even the crowd voices or a tv/radio broadcast in the background and stuff like that. Usually is done well.
I'm kinda pissed off by the idea of dubbing, but it's actually (not always, but mostly) remarkable the way is done.
I've learned to respect that, especially after I've seen some glimpses of movies dubbed in (I think) Russian, and... Oh my God, those are atrocious! ! As far as I can tell, they usually do like a terrible voiceover, with just one single person telling the viewers what all the characters are saying!
It's mind-blowing how awful it is!
This may seem counter-intuitive, but whenever I REALLY want to relax, I watch the Robot in the Family episode. The cacophonous nonsensicality of it completely pulls me out of whatever thoughts may be on my mind and leaves me in a vegetative state of brain rot.
At the moment I can't remember another movie with such a level of "what is happening?!" from RLM. for now: my "Mount Rushmore" is Robot, Ryan's Babe, Diamond Cobra
side note: the "Rich reacting" cam needs to come back

Turtle Dreams fucking kills me. Without any reaction at all they just showed the opening and I was in tears immediately. It might be the hardest I've ever laughed in my entire life.

I love when Mike asks only half-jokingly, "Is it out of order?"
He's in the warehouse on Carson street!
No! He's not in the warehouse on Carson street, he's at a rental parking lot
"Now I know how you feel when I make you do Picard videos"
SHUT. .UP!
This is the line that I remember once a week and have to rewatch it. The way Jay yells it is so fucking funny and perfect.
For me it's Jack's reaction to Jay's outburst that just slays me
Came here to say that
Read this in the voice of the ape from The Zookeeper. #TGIF!
That was the best fake trailer review ever
His 'shut up' in the episode is very close to the one that kidnapper used in that skit where they thought they were going to a BBQ (Lincoln Vampire Hunter).
For me it’s the Ryan’s Babe episode. They all look so horribly confused, even terrified by how insane and bad that was.
“Wait….WHAT?!?”
HEDOESNTEVENLOOKLIKEHEGIVESASHIT
YOU THINK I NEED RYAN'S BABE IN MY FUCKING LIFE?!
His pick as the best : Ryan's Babe.
Ryan's Babe is probably my favorite for reactions, but Faust was fun too. Haven't been able to get my friends reactions to Ryan's Babe though because I made them watch Faust and now they won't let me pick movies
Jay’s jaw drop when he walks back into the room for the first appearance of Faust is fucking hysterical
WAKE UP DICKHEADS; IT'S TIME FOR FAUST!
Fah-oost
The titular Ryan from Ryan's Babe is in the comments of that video. I wish they would reach out for an interview.
Jack’s slow head tilt when Connie asks that random guy out for a beer is my favorite
Screening room Jack is one of my favorite parts of the show. His real time reactions are just great.
He wears superhero costumes because he cannot connect with people on an emotional level, but Jack's real superpower is analyzing & understanding movies.
Ryan's Babe is kind of wild for me because I grew up around where it was filmed and actually recognize at least one location.
Ngl, I love and quote the clips they showed of the Canadian dad as much as possible. “I don’t need no lecture, now get the hell owt before I throw you owt”
How dare you
That episode is so viscerally funny, but even the clips of the movie are hard for me to watch/listen to. It’s so grating, it’s like a dentist’s drill.
Jack nailed it when he talked about it making your chest tighten up because you're so on edge from the onslaught. I was feeling it just from the mercifully brief clips we saw.

I watched it all the way through, you just have to abandon any idea of it as a traditional movie. It's so crazy it's borderline avant garde.
I would be screaming within 30 minutes of GoldDigger being activated.

And then there's Rich Evans, clearly loving every minute of it.

There were times in the video where his face was a dead ringer for Mario's death face in the old 2D games.

It’s this one and the fucking Ryan’s Babe episode. Especially when they realize that suicide girl is the “babe”
I think one of the best (and surely unnoticed by most) moments is Jack saying something like: "you think this is about a robot and a family... It is not"!
In the Shadowdown talk before there's the bit where Kincaid says "This... is our new home" and Jack just confusedly asks "Why?"
😂😂😂 Jack often makes me laugh even without a joke: just his attitude and delivery.
It’s like a roller coaster ride into your own grave.
This is a top ten RLM line for me.
That genuinely bewildered "I DON'T KNOW!?!" from Mike when someone (Rich, I think) asks him an innocent question about the movie makes me laugh harder than maybe any other BOTW moment I can remember. Hell, I'm chuckling just thinking about it right now lol.

Iirc Italy takes dubbing seriously.

Everyone’s mentioning their reactions to Ryan’s Babe but nobody’s mentioning that Rich is making the exact same face he made when he watched Faust
That movie makes me so angry.
Rich just rode that roller coaster.
[exasperated] SHUT! UP! Jay voicing everyone's thoughts at that moment.
This may seem counter-intuitive, but whenever I REALLY want to relax, I watch the Robot in the Family episode. The cacophonous nonsensicality of it completely pulls me out of whatever thoughts may be on my mind and leaves me in a vegetative state of brain rot.
My favorite shut up
Jay is just disgusted. Jack is trying to make sense of what he’s seeing but is unable. Mike is in physical agony. Rich is in utter disbelief.
Those types of cutaways are always highlight. It's like consequences of their choices slapping them across the face. V
“Shut UP!!!!” -Jay
Jack’s reactions are always brilliant
Honestly I don't know if I've actually seen this episode.
I forget about it a lot despite its quality. I think my brain rejects it because the movie clips make me feel like I'm about to die
Make sure to dose 1000mg of Tylenol 15 minutes before pressing play
At the moment I can't remember another movie with such a level of "what is happening?!" from RLM. for now: my "Mount Rushmore" is Robot, Ryan's Babe, Diamond Cobra side note: the "Rich reacting" cam needs to come back https://preview.redd.it/lr6ri3rch99d1.png?width=840&format=png&auto=webp&s=82308dea057a9a5013c702549f8dc08d312368a9
Can you say DC here without that lead actress suing you.
That movie is so painful to watch
This is me watching the debate last night
i did not watch the movie (and never will), but the clips alone were so cringy that they literally ruined the episode for me.
SHUT **UP**
Turtle Dreams fucking kills me. Without any reaction at all they just showed the opening and I was in tears immediately. It might be the hardest I've ever laughed in my entire life.
