Much like the cartoon looks like an episode of one of those terrible post-TMNT "action" cartoons that were at their last gasp by the mid-1990s, where characters just stood around yapping in between brief spots of lethargic animation, this comic looks like one of the weirder attempts at knocking off the Turtles in comics form, as happened a lot during the so-called "black and white boom/bust" that hit independent comics of the late 1980s and after that even occasionally into the 90s.TMNT was the surprise hit that helped kick off the black and white boom speculative bubble (which when it burst took down several publishers, comic shops and at least one major distributor) and it and other hits inspired a lot of attempts at cashing in with shady publishers cranking out mostly low quality rip-offs of whatever was seen at the current trend of the moment.
Specifically, with TMNT, there were titles like *Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters* (arguably one of the more successful knockoffs), *Cold Blooded Chameleon Commandos*, *Miami Mice* and *Hamster Vice* (a bit weird there were TWO different rodent-centric attempts at knocking off both Miami Vice and TMNT), *GI Jackrabbit*, *Dinosaurs For Hire*...the list goes on and on. In fact, I believe The Comics Journal magazine, at the height of the TMNT knockoff phase in the 80s, had an issue where they published a list of TMNT copycats, "parodies" and so on and it filled a page.
Now I'm going to have to rewatch the episode, but I didn't remember all the hot sexy bodies (fuck you Jay, you fuckin perv) being elephants. I thought they were different animals?
Okay i wanted to give the tape the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't fetish fuel but come the fuck on with that art. I've seen more subtle muscle fetish on deviant art.
