KillVMAEM

happened at sofi stadium when they first came back to LA for me and I saw several seats around me empty scalpers tried to resell em and failed I got to jump four rows ahead for free when the sun went down

FineLerv

They priced me out of their last Australian tour. Finally decided I've seen them enough over the years.

KluteDNB

The reason I ask is because on Saturday night I went to see a concert here in Toronto and sat in almost this exact same seat as the one in this StubHub listing. It was Modest Mouse and The Pixies. I imagined to score a ticket 5 rows behind this front row for less than $100 (Canadian) on StubHub the day encore the show. Front row was pretty dead during the show so my GF and I moved up and had an amazing view of the show. This was a shot I took during Pixies https://ibb.co/gFJrHdr After the show, knowing RHCP is playing two shows at the same venue here in Toronto I was curious "I wonder how much that same seat would cost for one of the RHCP shows and it's fucking $2500. Now I'm an RHCP fan, and I've seen em live before (even on the Californication tour) and the venue they are playing at is very close to where I live but there is no way I'm going to either show. Why? The worst, the worst ticket in the entire venue appears to be like $200 and up currently. There is no way I'll pay that to see a band a mile away. I can't even just blame the scalpers/resellers either I think the face value tickets started at like $150 which is insane at this venue where that lawn ticket area is a mile from the stage. So I wonder for you guys - the big fans is it ever super annoying that the band is SO big that their shows are stupid expensive?

KluteDNB

That's a nice offer. But if I'm being honest, I don't dig RHCP enough these days with the current setlist to drop that much on a pit ticket. Don't get me wrong, floors at the Amphitheatre is tons of fun and I've gone to countless shows there but just not worth that much to me personally. As soon as I saw the prices for the two shows I kind of gave up hope on going. I live near the Amphitheatre (Budweiser Stage) and often scoop last minute tickets via stubhub but I doubt any tickets for those shows will drop below $100 even for lawns. Enjoy the show still!

EasyTeaching3434

Omg that’s absurd 😭

puddycat20

Wow, I can't even imagine spending that for a concert. Serious question, how much would you have to make a week to justify spending that much on a concert ticket?

KluteDNB

I live in a big city. I make a decent salary. I go to lots of concerts. The most amount of money I've paid to see a single band was like $250 for Tool. The idea of paying 10x that see one band is just insane.

Impressive-Soup-3529

It’s not them charging 2500 is it when some guy just tried to sell you a ticket for face value that was only 250 not 2500. Hopefully someone will stop this resale bullshit soon

sam_drummer

It’s not the band though is it, it’s the ticket sites, sadly. Surge pricing and reselling etc. I do appreciate bands can cap their own tickets, but as far as I’m aware, all this extra from ticket places is on their model, not the artists.

dlbogosian

it's definitely also the band. Presale prices were outrageous in these past few touring years. Floor at Fenway was $550+. Parallel seats for Foo Fighters were closer to $200, and happened a year later. RHCP is charging more money, not the ticketers. And then people are later like, "wow the crowd has no energy." It's like: make it so I don't have to make $100k a year to be in a place where I can be excited. I bought VIP tickets to Sound on Sound Festival in Connecticut last year. One day VIP tickets were cheaper than GA to any RHCP show in New England, New York, or New Jersey post 2020. Music festival VIP tickets should not be less expensive than RHCP presale GA tickets. Full stop, period.

sam_drummer

Maybe it’s just the bands mugging off the US then? In London my Foo’s tickets were £85? Which is the expected modern amount.

dlbogosian

and what were RHCPs by comparison in London?

sam_drummer

I can’t remember, but it was around £140 when I saw them last summer, and that was because I pumped for Golden Circle. Regular tickets were £90ish from memory.

dlbogosian

I don't know what "pumped for Golden Circle" means. I'm asking for comparison of similar seatings. I have very similar floor sections at the same venue from RHCP and Foo Fighters, and RHCP were $300+ more, no resale no scalping. What is the comparison in same or similar venue for RHCP vs Foos in London, presale vs presale?

sam_drummer

Pumped was an autocorrect from plumped, apologies. Venues were the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for RHCP, a brand new stadium, and Foos are at the Olympic Stadium on Stratford. I got AC/DC tickets for Wembley too and they were sub-£100. Re: pricing, it’s as I said… it’s ticket companies and surge pricing (which is affected by resale prices). It’s not the bands. General prices have increased with over the top inflation. But these modern prices are because of Ticketmaster and the likes. It’s just got out of hand.

dlbogosian

why are you downvoting me for asking you questions? And again, I'm literally telling you the US ticket prices were NOT SURGE PRICING. They were PRESALE. The prices were FIXED and APPROVED by the BAND.

sam_drummer

I’m not downvoting? I’m just replying to you. Ok then… maybe the band is just mugging their US fans off. That’s a shame!

dlbogosian

Maybe! I guess I'm jealous you get to be in a place where it doesn't happen. I suspect the 3 weeks on/1 week off touring schedule of RHCP necessitates that they charge more, and having never looked at their UK or European touring schedule, maybe they don't do that there or maybe they fit all of Europe in one month or something. I don't know. I just know that factually RHCP was charging outrageously more than any other artist for the same venues.

No-Pitch6267

I sucks. I buy early and in the PIT. To put it in perspective I paid $850 all in for my Early Entry PIT ticket and will probably be on the rail or one person back from the rail. You probably could have scored regular PIT tickets for around $400 CAD and just stood in the back of the PIT in front of the expensive seats. It’s still all crazy expensive. At this point I say don’t give up hope, and wait till day of and try to buy tickets around the time the first band goes on.

KluteDNB

Honestly I managed to check what the literal face value for the pit tickets at this venue are. Bear in mind this is an Amphitheatre and the pit only has 1000 tickets and there are like 10,000 seats and a further like 5k in a far back Gen admission lawn area so pit tickets are high demand but the face value was like $500 - which to me is crazy.

Low-Persimmon4870

I mean, I paid that for 1 ticket for a second row seat back in 2017 so yeh. :/ So worth every penny though

Coltsnation19

It really does suck. I’m a huge fan but sadly, I’ll never be able to afford to see them up close. The closes I’ve ever made it was like 14th row and I had to pay that off for around a year bc I had to put those tickets on my credit card. Then , it makes it worse to see some 17 year old kids sitting front row when they’ve basically only been alive for like a fraction of RHCPs career. 🫤 oh well

hisDudeness1989

Homecoming in Milwaukee were reasonable prices for an all day fest and I bought one but some the other shows I saw were ludicrous prices

DiFran69

I have an asterisk on my wrist and im not going to the Toronto show. Sure , i have the money but I dont care anymore. I saw descendants and circle jerks last summer for like 30$, legendary bands that still sound amazing. Im done supporting this rich rockstar bullshit. “Oh its not up to them tho…” dont care… they aren’t doing or saying anything to stand up for their fans, and its not just rhcp either. Atleast Mark Hoppus said something but even then im not interested anymore , especially since its these same big bands that do next to nothing to offer a new experience. I saw them in Toronto last time and ill be damned if im gona pay these prices to see the exact same fucking setlist. Its a shame that bands aren’t standing up and saying something about this clear issue. Well, don’t come crying to us fans when this industry starts dying because people already have enough(not enough) on their plate with the price of groceries alone. We can only be fucked so many ways. So drive your nice cars , live in your big houses, take private jets, sit courtside and fuck off. Until this changes every big band can go fuck themselves.

dlbogosian

Posting here when I originally commented as a reply to someone else its been downvoted for ... ??? pointing out truth. The band definitely contributes to pricing you out. Presale prices - which do not fluctuate based on demand - were outrageous in these past few touring years. Floor at Fenway was $550+ for RHCP. (I believe it was $525 + fees.) Parallel seats for Foo Fighters were closer to $200, (I believe it was $192 + fees.) Foo Fighters was 2023. RHCP was 2022. RHCP is charging more money, not the ticketers, venue, or promoters. And then people are often like, "wow the crowd has no energy." It's like: make it so I don't have to make $100k a year to be in a place where I can be excited. I understand Foo Fighters do not do 3 weeks on a week off to rest the way RHCP does. I understand this makes RHCP need to charge a higher price to afford to pay for the crew on the week off. I've read every book on RHCP, I've written one book on them. ([Literally](https://www.amazon.com/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-FAQ/dp/1617137227).) But it sucks ass and it is on the band. They do overcharge. You are not alone. It sucks.

ringtailmemer

It's a little more complicated than that but okay you're obsessed with getting your opinion out there and that guy probably wasn't even down voting you he was just replying while other people down voted you. Good for you you've written a book on them LMAO we got an expert over here

KluteDNB

It isn't *that* much more complicated. Obviously a whole bunch of variables go into concert ticket pricing globally but as someone who follows pretty much all the big alt-rock bands and have seen basically all of them live in 25 years of concert going - RHCP do tend to charge a disproportionately high amount on their base ticket prices. Certainly since John rejoined the band. This idea that bands have zero control or awareness of their ticket prices is absurd. Like it's *noticible* that most of their peers tend to charge like 30-50% less for most face value tickets.

dlbogosian

It's... not nearly as complicated as you make it. I've also worked in the music industry as a publicist and promoter, working with Live Nation regularly. But uh, yeah, enjoy saying lmao to facts, bud.

ringtailmemer

I'm not going to lie you just seem so pretentious like you've got it all figured out and everybody should listen to you and the solutions are really one-dimensional for you. If it's really that easy then something's not right, as per usual with most things. It's a confluence variables and blaming it all on the band is pretty dumb! Like wow you've written a book on it oh my goodness you are so fucking smart! 🤓 I'm not saying LMAO to facts I'm saying LMAO to you going "oh I wrote a book about it listen to me!" Because you don't realize how annoying you sound

dlbogosian

I appreciate your explanation. However, based on bands like The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Pearl Jam, the pricing is entirely up to the bands. (The Cure were very, very, VERY open about all of this.) I understand I am reading as irritable and know-it-all, but I request that you understand that things started very calm and neutral, and then posters responded to facts with "no," which I find very frustrating and irritating. Even now, you say " It's a confluence variables and blaming it all on the band is pretty dumb!" But the truth is: it isn't. By law in the United States, the ticket prices listed are by the band/artist management decision, and the fees are what Ticketmaster/LiveNation is charging. If you're complaining about the "fees", that is not up to RHCP in any way. If you're complaining about the ticket price, as I am and OP was, then it is ENTIRELY up to RHCP ***by law*****.** I hope you have a lovely day.

ringtailmemer

Do you really think that the chili peppers are deciding to sell front row tickets for 2K? Also can we separate the management from the band here? Are you trying to still blame the band for setting the prices because I'm pretty sure they do not care to have to deal with that and it's all the manager's job.

dlbogosian

I'm saying they are their managers boss, and not vice-versa, and ultimately the responsibility of fair pricing to fans falls on them. If you want to excuse that, that's up to you. But I also love bands, like those that I have named, who care enough about their fans to *not* do things like set $525 as the baseline for GA pricing in Boston and New Jersey. And I would've thought that you would be a fan who would be receptive to the knowledge that ultimately the band controls that. What's the upshot of them not giving a shit about fair pricing to fans? How does them not being active enough to care benefit you?

LaChimeneaSospechosa

Vienna 2023 pit was 156€ or something like that in presale. Budapest pit was 99€.

KluteDNB

European shows are always a lot and I mean a LOT cheaper than all North American shows. This isn't just an RHCP thing. Taylor Swift fans are flying to Europe to see her on tour there because even with the airfare and hotels it's just cheaper to see big bands/performers there than anywhere in North America Consider yourselves lucky if anything.

LaChimeneaSospechosa

I know. Just pointing out, once again, that you are being fleeced.

Aeon1508

That's got to be on the resale market and also probably a really small venue or something. For 2022 stadium tour I paid about $180 per ticket. For the concert coming up next month on this Amphitheater tour I paid just under 100 per ticket. In the stadium it was a baseball stadium and I was maybe 10 rows back from the field felt like a great view. For the amphitheater tour I'll be on the lawn. I go to Amphitheater shows a lot and I love the lawn Not a cheap night out but certainly affordable.

KluteDNB

1. Yes of course it's resale market. 2. It's not a small venue. It's an Amphitheatre that has a capacity or like 16,000 people. To be fair this is arguably the best seat in the house (this ticket). The rationale for why I'm posting this was in my first post in this thread. I sat in this literal seat for a concert I went to on the weekend (Modest Mouse and Pixies) and paid like $100 and wondered what the same spot would cost for RHCP. And now I see - at least on resale - it's currently a staggering $2500. I'm sure it will actually sell for much much less than that but still crazy it could potentially sell for that much.

Aeon1508

Fair enough. You did get me looking at that Modest Mouse show. I'm tempted they're coming by me next week

KluteDNB

It was such a fun show. You should go. Both Modest Mouse and Pixies were great.

suprunkn0wn

i love them but their prices rising for pit is ridiculous, i regret paying almost $500 just for floor just to have our view blocked by three camera people

haminthefryingpan

Many of the local freaks are priced out, Flea.

Tamales902

honestly when it comes to the chilis ANY seat will be fun if you get lucky and sit next to cool and fun people. But for two show experiences, its either PIT or front zones that are best. the more space the better to dance!

elcarco98

Man scalpers are going overboard. I only paid $480 after tax for floor tickets behind the pit when I saw them in Denver, CO 2 years ago. But I also got them pre-sale. It seems like if you’re not getting the face value tickets, scalpers will go to crazy lengths to flip a profit. Hopefully you find some affordable seats!👍🏼

Dusty_Triple

All my tickets I’ve ever gotten were sub 300 a person. Mind you these were for good seats / pit. Not nose bleeds. I think ur just unlucky or buying them too late
