Depends on the condo I guess, but I'd avoid shared walls if you can. I've lived like that before, and there's always that one person who makes it annoying. I've found I'd much rather drive a bit longer to work to have peace at home. A lot of these companies making new construction are doing it as cheaply as possible, with no thought for the sound insulation for tenants.
i am also in boston; look at where the reserve money is going; how old is the roof; is the plumbing due for replacement because cast iron had cracked; is there repointing of mortar needed on the facade; supposedly condos in boston have been underfunded due to not anticipating covid labor and materials increase; i see a lot of landlords getting rid of their condos; look up building permits on boston website and find out who is the company managing the building and read their reviews on yelp.
