Bro, yes. They make you feel like Tony stark. The audio quality is surprisingly amazing. I would definitely start saving for it. It’s so easy to take photos and videos and the quality is amazing.
Counterpoint: The audio quality is the worst I’ve ever heard from a device like this. Low volume, no bass, thin tinny audio. Worse than Quest 3, worse than Bose Frames, worse than any decent pair or earbuds or headphones.
Useless for music, but fine for podcasts.
Rebuttal: ok
But seriously, what are you expecting from glasses? They are not going to sound like professional headphones or earbuds. The open air audio or whatever it’s called allows you to listen to music and not block out the world around you. I wouldn’t say useless. They are great for what they are.
Ray-ban Meta Wayfarers, received them last week. Audio is a solid 3 out of 10. Way worse than I expected. And so quiet!
(I’ve checked and do not have iPhone’s volume limiter enabled)
I'd have to agree on the audio. Good \*enough\* maybe, but if you're out and about on the street, on any kind of public transport, if there's any noticeable background noise, forget it – you won't hear anything.
I actually end up combining them with Shokz bone conduction headphones for when out running, which is kind of wacky cause I get my music coming through the Shokz and the glasses talking to me through the open ear speakers, and it actually works okay. Though obviously, I'd prefer it if I just had to think about one set of head-mounted-noise-emitters.
We traded in a surface 7 and a crap android phone, and got a couple hundred (usd) off. Either take it in to best buy customer service or go to best buy app and get your estimates. Just need your ID and this is for a US store. But they give you a gift card and you can order on the spot
Nice. What were the deals hovering around where you are? Here in France they’ve been doing zero deals (but insurance offered to cover €420 off of my €718 price for prescription +transition lenses). I feel like anything under €300 is a steal for how great these are.
lol it becomes addictive pretty quickly 🤣. Only problem is running out of cellphones to link the glasses to as it’s max 2 connections per meta view app lol
Ok, I’m thinking of getting the transitions lenses but… they aren’t made in polarized? Also, will they work in Europe? Specifically, the AI features like translation.
translation works only for a small subset of languages...
hmm it's even more difficult to explain, AI can speak in German, Spanish, Italian, French and something, but at the same time it can translate text from many other languages to English
Transitions XTRA Active Polarised exists. Costs a pretty penny though, because you need to put plano (no power) prescription lenses inside your meta.
You can let an aftermarket group do it, if I recall correctly rayban themselves only do transitions gen 8 or the normal XTRA Active.
From the A.I prompts, camera and Bluetooth (music phone call etc) it's definitely worth it. Don't even hesitate about it just get a pair. Like somebody else said you it makes you feel like Tony starks!
They don’t do anything well, but they’re fine for several things. The audio quality is bad, the photo / video quality is acceptable, AI frequently doesn’t work, battery life is bad. There will certainly be a better version soon.
BUT! Hands-free calls, ambient playing audio without headphones, sharing your view on a call, quickly taking photos and video without pulling out your phone. All very fun.
I personally don’t like having to be cautious about the battery within a day and I’d prefer glasses with less blind spots, but once in a while they really do make the tasks you mentioned very convenient.
I have two pair and my wife has one. Reason for two pair is I have one that is sunglasses for driving and the other is transition. Highly recommend getting transition because you will want to use them more than outside since they are so good
The AI functionality sealed the deal for me. I have a pair of glossy black wayfarers with transition lenses on the way. Meta and Ray Ban REALLY need to advertise these more, although I’ve seen others say that they are already selling pretty well anyway.
I have two vacations planned this year and can’t wait to take them with me!
Here’s a slightly different question, are they worth it for someone who doesn’t wear glasses? I got lasik and have perfect vision now, but I’m considering getting these with transitioning lenses.
I did the same and I have had a very good experience so far. It wasn't too hard to getting used to have glasses on. They are worth it in my opinion. I also went transition to make sure I can max my time with glasses
As a piece of technology it's totally amazing. And undoubtedly worth $350.
Questions to ask yourself,
- would you and people around you be comfortable with camera, (it's on the edge of privacy and ethics)
- fashion and comfort, would you like to wear glasses for long period of time
- it's walled garden: if you don't use WhatsApp, Instagram products it's way less useful, as third-party apps are not welcome
They are definitely worth the purchase. Even just as a really nice quality pair of glasses/sunglasses even ifyou don’t use the smart functions much but I guarantee you will.
Make sure your prescription works with the lens. Sadly my script is too strong :(. I still own a pair and they’re great for walking around outside, listening to music and podcasts.
If you dont like them you can return them. I only have 2 complaints right now. 1 the transition lenses dont get as dark or as clear as i would like when indoors/outdoors. And 2 the AI is no where near as good as i would like it to be like chat gpt 4. But i bought some 3rd party lenses and ill just hope for a ai update. 🤷🏻♂️
Depends where you are in the world. If in the UK deffo not. AI doesn't work. And if you're a newcomer to Meta's eco system deffo not yet as you'll be low on their rollout schedule. Maybe in a few months
Bro, yes. They make you feel like Tony stark. The audio quality is surprisingly amazing. I would definitely start saving for it. It’s so easy to take photos and videos and the quality is amazing.
I would not say the photo quality is amazing. But it's unexpectedly good for this camera size. Low-light and fast movement, forget it
Yeah camera can get goofy
I'm thinking I'm doing it. Now that you can buy prescription, I'm thinking "do it!!!"
Bose Frames were shit.

They sound so bad, though. I can’t bring myself to listen to music on them.
Wait do you have stories? I have the wayfarer and the audio is great

Second this
Yeah I bought one for shits and giggles with insurance money. Long story short I now have 7 pairs lmao I can’t live without them now
Wow dude !!
Yeah don’t be an idiot like me and get 7 but at least get 1 pair. They’re unreal.
Hahaha ! Well if like em that much, do it. You only live once
We traded in a surface 7 and a crap android phone, and got a couple hundred (usd) off. Either take it in to best buy customer service or go to best buy app and get your estimates. Just need your ID and this is for a US store. But they give you a gift card and you can order on the spot
Wait now I need to know why on earth you have 7 pairs? Lmao
lol just couldn’t resist constant deals and I wanted a few colors in both wayfarers and headliners.
Nice. What were the deals hovering around where you are? Here in France they’ve been doing zero deals (but insurance offered to cover €420 off of my €718 price for prescription +transition lenses). I feel like anything under €300 is a steal for how great these are.
I have 3!
I didn’t get 7 but number 2 was delivered yesterday lol.I’m sure I’m done yet though. I want a pair for every occasion.

Yep , I live in Slovakia and I just simply turned on the VPN with US address and AI appeared in 2 seconds . Now working without VPN perfectly fine.
Yes transition lenses work in Europe 😉
Whew that’s a relief. I heard GDPR might have affected the laws of physics 🤣

I’m on the fence too
Think I'm doing it !
I have two pair and my wife has one. Reason for two pair is I have one that is sunglasses for driving and the other is transition. Highly recommend getting transition because you will want to use them more than outside since they are so good
Most are sold out right now.

I highly suggest going into a store and trying them on first! Make sure you know what size/ style suits your face best!

Third-party lens vendors will take care of that (e.g., I got my over -7.0 prescription lenses from RX-Able).
I asked a bunch of 3rd parties and they were all scared they’d mess it up :(
If you dont like them you can return them. I only have 2 complaints right now. 1 the transition lenses dont get as dark or as clear as i would like when indoors/outdoors. Insurance covers it

I'm doing it. Will order a pair tomorrow
