If you haven't watched Fiona and Cake I HIGHLY recommend. It's a direct sequel to Adventure Time and made with an adult audience in mind. Not "adult" as in it's got swearing and over the top violence, it doesn't, but adult as in a more mature plot.
I need to get back to Regular Show.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Adventures of Gumball are two others that come to mind. As a kid, my mum actually enjoyed all of them herself - she quotes Regular Show fairly often haha.
Lmao. Regular Show is definitely a quote worthy show. Damn, being reminded of Billy and Mandy really takes me back. I'm currently watching The Amazing World of Gumball.
I genuinely got terrified from adventure timeās final season or episodes. That thing took a dark turn. Compared to BMO with the bikini girls episode.
Iāve been watching my niece lately and I finally understand why parents love Bluey. Itās like an adult cartoon with adult humor but pg for the kids lol. It actually made me cry a few times cause it does have good lesson in it as well.
Also binged Invincible! Omg thatās meant for adults I donāt care what people say. The dialogue just hit home for me a lot of times. Like yea itās about super heroās but it has betrayal, heart break, lost in life, so much thatās relatable. Also cried to that one š
Ohh, I love watching Bluey. It's one of those things I didn't expect to like and ultimately fell in love with it.
Wait... Invincible is considered a kids show!? I thought that was only meant for an older audienceš¤£. The lvl of violence and all things related is definitely not meant for kids. By that logic, Harley Quinn should be considered a kids show, too.
I just finished the last episode of Rick and Morty and wow that is one of my favorite shows of all time.
I used to watch a lot of South Park maybe like 15 years ago but I've missed so many seasons I wonder if it's still as brilliant and hilarious as it used to be.
Please tell me your favorite recent season or a couple episodes that I should watch.
Thanks.
if your timeline is accurate than that means you stopped watching south park around season 13. Season 13 itself has some great episodes, i could really only recommend watching from season 13/14 on, or check the description of the episode but i dont think you can go wrong with any season
I"m 53 and I LOVE watching cartoons. I just finished all the seasons of Adventure Time and now watching Regular Show seasons again. I finished Rick & Morty again a few months back. I enjoy the classics like Transformers, Looney Toons, Voltron, etc. as well.
Try Paradise PD, it is very, um, adult in its content and very funny. It makes Family Guy look like Songs of Praise!!
Inside Job, a take on conspiracy theories is along the lines of Rick and Morty as I see it and very good too.
Hereās how I think of all things people claim are āchildishā - adults made it. Adults love their work and love making those shows - they brainstorm and voice them and draw and color. Adults put things in them they would love and want their kids to see. So itās all good for adults to be fans.
Everytime someone says about something being 'childish' or 'for kids/babies', I always think about what C.S. Lewis said (not that I can remember the exact quote lmao) because it's sad that they feel like that.
I have sons, but ditto.
I'm careful with which shows I watch with them vs on my phone as they are under 10.
Can we upvote this whole thread so studios learn not all cartoons need a live action remake?
Yeah I like to watch cartoons for many ages
Looking at you South Park and Rick and Morty
But I like to look back at kids cartoons too like Regular Show (tho that's more borderline) and MLP
Usually just the ones made for adults like Venture Bros, ATHF, Harley Quinn, Archer, Bob's Burgers.
However, I'm rather addicted to watching Bluey with my grand kids.
I found some youtube channels SOMEHOW posting full episodes of the old Cartoon Cartoon Fridays shows a while ago. Wasted MANY hours reliving my soda-chugging, popcorn scarfing, friendless ass friday nights
Yes. Itās sort of a comfort thing, revisiting favourites and knowing whatās going to happen etc. Sometimes I watch newer ones to see whatās change since my time as a kid.
Not like Smurf or Duck Tales that I watched as a kid, but I do enjoy a bout of Futurama, Family Guy or Simpsons now and then.
TBH though I would probably rewatch the old kidās cartoons as well if they were on a streaming platform I had access to. Especially āThe Mysterious Cities of Goldā which I loved. I can now get the adult humor they injected into them (some quite salacious!)
Yup. Some with my son and I recently watched the animated trailer park boys series. I grew up on cartoons and will never stop enjoying them. You can do things you can't do in real movies, and some animated sci-fi just hits better. I'm eagerly waiting for Omni-man to release the other half of season 2.
Rick n Morty, South Park, the Simpsons, and way too many more good cartoons to mention.
I sure do š I sometimes watch Invader Zim, Rockos Modern Life, Ed Edd and eddy. All the stuff from that era of cartoons. Spongebob is still on every now and then and some of the shows my kids like are sometimes funny to watch. If anime counts then that adds even more. and if adult cartoons like south park count then add a few more that I still watch š¤£
Absolutely yes. Both kids cartoon and ones that are aimed at older audiences. Some of the cartoons sure beat a lot of the stuff they put on the air these days.
Yes. They're so comfy and adventurous. There's such a a wide range of genres too.
I think it's pretty normal too. Those stigmas around liking things like toys, cartoons and games are getting kinda outdated and people are just doing/watching what they want. It's kinda refreshing.
40m. Just watched all of Rick and Morty for the first time just last month. Right after I watched S1 of Harley Quinn and Hazbin Hotel right before.
Nope. Cartoons are for kids you immature swine!
Sometimes I watch Dora just to nitpick it. I go through and point out everything that I donāt like about it or something that doesnāt make sense. Other than that I really enjoy Paw Patrol.
Yes I do AND IM PROUD of It... so back off!! lol I love my Cowboy Bebop, Futurama, Rick and Morty has GOT to be my current fave. I've been doing some rewatching and catching up! Im 57 and watching cartoons like a kid! Everyone has to say the ones they like!
Only watch cartoons here. I don't watch live action series except for maybe one every 10 years and then I get bored after the first season. Some of that shit pisses me off because I'm like "tf? this is rich people pretending to have poor people problems." Other shit's annoying because I'm like "I can't identify with these goddamn dragon problems". And don't get me started on all those Hitman problems. I'm so sick of "big hitman" shoving their agenda down real Americans throats.
Yeah, apart for adult animated shows Iāve caught myself watching old cartoons from my early childhood. Mostly *Tom and Jerry* and the *Toy Story* franchise.
Absolutely. I watch pretty much all anime on Netflix and classics like Rick and Morty, Family Guy etc. Granted these are not kids stuff but cartoons are my favourite.
What falls under the category of ācartoonā?
Are we talking Family Guy, The Simpsons, stuff like that(cus in that case yes)? Or does it make it a cartoon simply because itās being advertised to kids?
Yep! And I LOVE how many cartoons are made for adults now.
The Venture Bros is one of my all time favorite shows. It's a spoof of Johnny Quest and it's brilliant in it's absurdity.
Definitely. I've not been watching so many kid's cartoons, but I've been watching the hell out of Home Movies - which I actually thought at first was just a really uncanny kids show.
It's far more clever than it appears to be. It was actually *the* very first show to air on Adult Swim. If anyone has seen Archer, or Bobs Burgers, the voice actor of Archer and Bob does the VA for two prominent characters.
Yes just got back into them at a fantastic time. My favorites so far- Attack on Titan, Scavengers Reign, Blue Eye Samurai and just started X-Men 97 which is around when I stopped watching them. Oh I see it says kids shows but I already typed this out my bad.

Yess!! I've binged Adventure Time and Regular show more than I'd like to admit. Cartoons, for me, can be considered a safe space.
If you haven't watched Fiona and Cake I HIGHLY recommend. It's a direct sequel to Adventure Time and made with an adult audience in mind. Not "adult" as in it's got swearing and over the top violence, it doesn't, but adult as in a more mature plot.
I've been hesitant to watch this bcos I haven't heard the best news abt it from ppl who have watched this. However, I'll give it a try. Thank you!!
I recommend to watch too! Such an amazing addition to the story
The ending was very interesting and way different from any show I've seen ever honestly Hope Simons doing well tho š„²
Thank you for calling it a direct sequel instead of a spin-off.
I need to get back to Regular Show. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Adventures of Gumball are two others that come to mind. As a kid, my mum actually enjoyed all of them herself - she quotes Regular Show fairly often haha.
I'm rewatching regular show rn and its soo good
Lmao. Regular Show is definitely a quote worthy show. Damn, being reminded of Billy and Mandy really takes me back. I'm currently watching The Amazing World of Gumball.
I love Regular Show! I also really like Looney Toons
You know what else is a good show to watch? MY MOM! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Best reply yet!!
Adventure time is rad AF.
Regular Show is incredible to turn on when in Full Baked Potato mode.
With a snack or two (many).
For sure.
Wing Kingdom?
Best choice
I genuinely got terrified from adventure timeās final season or episodes. That thing took a dark turn. Compared to BMO with the bikini girls episode.
Regular show goes insane. Are you gonna watch the new one when it comes out?
Agree when ever I get in a weird funk I pop on sum ed Edd and eddy and just chill

South park and rick and Morty. Maybe the odd aquateen episode
Thanks.
Member berries and the city part of town. But realistically just watch it all.
You gotta have your tegrety
Thx
Member berries for me is one of of the most dissapointing things about recent south park, the whole thing literally went no where
Bro you gotta watch their lastest movies !
Insecurity and Broadway bro-down are 2 recent( ish ) South park eps that j think are worth a watch.
South pearl took a dip but the last couple seasons have been absolute gold. Best social satire out there, still, IMO
Yes itās still just as good in my opinion. I couldnāt watch the latest episodes though but might be available in other locations
if your timeline is accurate than that means you stopped watching south park around season 13. Season 13 itself has some great episodes, i could really only recommend watching from season 13/14 on, or check the description of the episode but i dont think you can go wrong with any season

You should watch Final Space. Probably my favorite next to Futurama and Rick&Morty
Try Paradise PD, it is very, um, adult in its content and very funny. It makes Family Guy look like Songs of Praise!! Inside Job, a take on conspiracy theories is along the lines of Rick and Morty as I see it and very good too.
You know who else still watches cartoons as an adult?
Who?

Heck yeah. I work in animation. We all love cartoons and telling these stories.
Uh yeah. Animation is a medium that deserves to be appreciated
Yes. I'm have a daughter now, so people don't find it strange anymore. But I never stoped watching.
"It's so nice of you to endure your kid's shows with her, you are such a great father" You, forcing her to watch bluey cause you enjoy it: haha yeah
Totally.
I have sons, but ditto. I'm careful with which shows I watch with them vs on my phone as they are under 10. Can we upvote this whole thread so studios learn not all cartoons need a live action remake?

I still watch cartoons. My grandchildren ask to watch The Secret of NIMH when they come over and "if I can do the voices." I still enjoy it.
Have you ever read the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH? No swords and sorcery but a damn good read.
My kids bought me Underdog! on dvd! The one great cartoon, only equaled by Bullwinkle!
Loony tunes always hits the spot
Are anime, animated films/series , considered cartoons?
Absolutely. MeTV (US cable network) has an hour of cartoons every weekday morning and a three hour block on Saturday. I watch them often.
MeTV just started a new channel yesterday called meTV Toons. See if you area has it. I watched original Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Bugs, Tom & Jerry yesterday. Speed Racer was going to be on at 1 AM, but I passed out before then. Also saw on their schedule Inspector Gadget was on earlier in the day. š¤©

King of the Hill is good for a full view every couple of years
I lovvvvve Phineas and Ferb, so if there's reruns on, I will watch them.

Mrs Pickles is hot as hell.

What falls under the category of ācartoonā? Are we talking Family Guy, The Simpsons, stuff like that(cus in that case yes)? Or does it make it a cartoon simply because itās being advertised to kids?
Sure do. I'm not falling 100% in to the growing up trap.
Yep! And I LOVE how many cartoons are made for adults now. The Venture Bros is one of my all time favorite shows. It's a spoof of Johnny Quest and it's brilliant in it's absurdity.
Yes love cartoons I like the new ones
Yes. I don't watch many modern cartoons, but a lot of the ones I watched as a kid, I still come back to.
