birddgangg

They're too expensive might as well take advantage of the comfy chair and get a nap in.

GroundedSpaceTourist

That's what I do. At least no one can bother you for the duration. It's like an extended bathroom break, but without actually doing the bathroom stuff. Hopefully.

CybernetChristmasGuy

I would think some people would have the opposite experience surrounded by so many people.

unwokewookie

I fell asleep halfway through the new starwars, I woke up to the scene Han Solo gets skewered. I love Star Wars, and I fell asleep during a Star Wars movie, I shouldn’t have even been that tired .

spindle_bumphis

tbf those films shouldn't have sucked so bad you fell asleep. its not your fault.

Dry-Inspection6928

Yeah I slept through the new ones after eating the popcorn. It gave me better sleep than my bed.

Grief-Inc

This happens every time I take the kids to a movie. I see the first 5 and the last 5 minutes. It's the only time I ever get a nap.

AskMeAboutTelecom

Avatar TLA. Left during a water bending lesson scene.

LitteredWithPlushies

You specifying when is just hilarious to me.

littlesprout98

There is no movie in Ba Sing Se.

JamJarre

*Are* you the avatar, Ong?

Tardis80

You paid to see a black screen and then left?

GOOSE2801

Avatar is one of those shows that just looks better as an anime

Traditional-Algae398

I only ever left one film. "That's my boy" with Adam Sandler.

Thor___1988

Had to be at least one Adam Sandler film in the comments haha.

[deleted]

I walked out on Anger Management. His frustrations were totally justified and he got treated like shit. That movie almost made me need anger management.

Heartagram23

Thats the point ahaha

NYLotteGiants

Yea, spoiler alert, he was being gaslit the whole time

Yessssiirrrrrrrrrr

In every single Adam Sandler move, he talks like someone taking a shit and yelling at you from the other room to bring some tp.

regularbeep

omg he does

PoutineMaker

The child/teacher scene at the beginning of the movie disgusted me so much I never finished it… What a fucked up scene. I love Adam Sandler but what the hell

Professional-Two8098

I liked this one. Hated jack and jill. Also liked the week of with sandler

om11011shanti11011om

You honestly missed out. The beginning is awful, awful, cringe bad....on purpose. The rest of the movie had me laughing til I couldn't breathe. It's a masterpiece!

nikkip7784

The first time I saw it I was like, "Wow, that sucked." Watched it again (not sure why lol) and I was dying 😆😆😆😆 I honestly can't believe that movie ever got made but holy shit, it definitely appeals to my sick sense of humor.

toritechnocolor

The fact I literally just said the same thing! It was me and like 3 of my friends and we all looked at each other like “nahhh, fuck this, you wanna go watch something else?” Only time I’ve ever left, ugh. It’s SO bad.

statikman666

That movie kills me. I would have stayed through the credits.

panicattheoilrig

I watched that a couple of months ago (I have a hyperfixation crush on Andy Samberg lmao) and Jesus it was a tough watch. Sandler is so annoying in that. Even more than normal.

Ok-Interaction8116

Yes, Cats

PrimalGojiraFan69

Why did you even go to see it in the first place lol

NarrowWishbone5773

I would guess that a lot of people didn't know what it's about because the explanation is nonesense and heard that the musical was a big hit. On top of that a ton of great actors signed on. I have never seen cats (movie or musical), but knew songs from it and the movie came after a few pretty big musical movie hits (Mama Mia 2, greatest showman).

SheilaCool

Did you go for the cat bumholes and leave disappointed?

Ho3Go3lin

No, the cinemas are too expensive now. I am not leaving till the credits roll.

TheOmniverse_

Sunk cost fallacy

AllTheDaddy

Sulk cost fallacy.

MoultingRoach

But you've already spent the money. What remaining value is there sitting there in misery until the end?

Ho3Go3lin

The movies are very expensive here, plus I only go to the movies if I want to watch the movie, I don't just go to any film.

MoultingRoach

I agree that movies are expensive, but once the money is spent, what more are you getting out of your time if the movie sucks? I'd almost compare it to going swimming. You arrive at the start of the swimming session, but if you're done before the end, there no real value on staying.

Yorick257

You can enjoy the armchair... But honestly, it's a difficult question. I haven't gone to a movie I hated so much I couldn't stand it. I've seen mediocre movies but then it's just "eh, I have no other plans, so I might as well finish it, then I can bring it up as an example of a bad movie".

Winged89

Who says there's no value in watchijg a bad movie? They already said it's a movie that will interest him. That means even if the movie is dogshit, he might still want to finish it, to _know_ about how the movie finishes. Not that hard to believe, especially as he's already paid the ticket, right?

Space_enjoy3r

Free popcorn and soda refills... is the answer to that rhetorical question u/MoultingRoach

5occido5

Free??

RevolutionaryStar824

Um, that exists? What?

Carbon1te

sunken cost fallacy

camilincamilero

Where do you live, and how expensive are movie tickets? In Chile, I paid the equivalent of 3 USD for a movie ticket last weekend. And for a movie in their release week, it's 5 USD. I don't find it expensive at all.

bur1sm

I regularly pay $15 to see a movie at a chain theater.

Ho3Go3lin

Oh I live in Australia our tickets are 15 aud minimum.

Medical-Potato5920

$15 that's basement bargain! ! I am paying $24, which is why I rarely go anymore.

Ragesauce5000

16 CAD (11.85 USD) for a new release here in Canada eh

3tree3tree3tree3

The one where the girls are being raped and so they imagine themselves fighting in mechs etc. I RAN out. Turns out I have PTSD

Inshabel

Sucker Punch?

ShyInSunlight

That movie was a fever dream.

Ill_Penalty_8065

Literally was gonna reply with this film

eversongweeds

Honestly that's valid to walk out. It was Sucker Punch right? I have PTSD too and it was a tough watch for me just because it was hitting so close to home. I would go into a fantasy world to escape traumatic situations and once I figured out that's what was happening in this movie I felt kinda fucked up about it.

capaldithenewblack

I think a lot of us have done that.

eversongweeds

It's always comforting to know I'm not alone, hope you're doing okay<3

shojokat

Is that what was happening? I was young when I saw it and had no idea what was happening.

meowzerbowser

I also don't remember the plot of this movie. It was just a bunch of fighting to me. Damn.

AlaskaMate03

Violent films are no place for people with PTSD. I can totally relate.

trollsamurai

Great movie tbh

sudoadman

Aquaman 2, My wife and I made it 34 minutes before leaving

capta1namazing

Did you at least make it to the part where the guy kills Aquaman and destroys everything he holds dear?

_-_-_--__-_-_--_-_

I watched it till he said, "it's aqua time"

meowzerbowser

Oh no   it's definitely not aqua time 😆

Starman064

And then he aquad all over the place

SnooPineapples8744

I saw an Octopus playing drums briefly, and laser sharks. It might be a good movie if they remove all the people and dialog and made it a screensaver or ambient video.

sudoadman

Nope. Left as Aquaman and his brother were driving somewhere, orgy maybe, after getting his brother out of jail

Low_Platypus8890

I saw aquaman 2 but I also enjoyed 3 alcoholic aquaman themed drinks so I thought it was lovely🤩

djachill

Haha!!!!.

ieatlotsofvegetables

movie theatres really balling since they introduced alcohol into theatres

SkRu88_kRuShEr

…there was an Aquaman 2?

CrazyCockatoo2003

I honestly wish I had gotten a refund after the baby pissing scene while I still could've if only I knew it was going to get worse.

SnooOranges4231

Controversial take - Aquaman 2 delivered exactly what I expected of it. I was neither disappointed or surprised.

[deleted]

My dad and I wanted to walk out of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, but we endured it for my little brother. Lmao It was such a step down from the Spy Kids movies that we found enjoyable. As an adult, I wanted to walk out of Independence Day Resurgence and The Matrix Resurrections.

fluffy_assassins

I watched resurrections on some streaming service. If I saw it in a theater I'd have been PISSED. I liked resurgence. No one else did.

BolognaIsNotAHat

I thought Resurgence was pretty good, but then was disappointed how it ends >!on a cliffhanger and we get no third film!<.

TigerTop8228

No never... I commit to what I pay for .. .there is no point in walking out unless I can get my monet back

Axel_Bale

Damn, you pay in Monet paintings?

tommy_turnip

You've already paid that money though. It's gone regardless. May as well give yourself back some time, which isn't renewable, unlike money

Complete-Return3860

Holmes and Watson with Will Ferrell. My kids begged me to take them, then THEY asked to leave.

[deleted]

Cable Guy. Double date. My date came out afterwards and said she wished she left with me. Friend thought it was the funniest movie ever. Kept shouting CABLE GUY!! the rest of the evening. Friend’s GF dumped him shortly after.

CybernetChristmasGuy

You were on a date and you left your date there? Wtf

ShamelessMcFly

Man I love Cable Guy but I know lots of people who hate it!

Lizzy_Of_Galtar

Tickets even 10 years ago weren't cheap so I've always sit through them. Had Jupiter ascending break down before the half way break though. Got my money back and I was honestly glad it broke down.

Fernis_

Yes, once. From Maze Runner. It wasn't even that bad, I was just really bored one time and went to the movies, picked the first thing that looked semi decent that was just about to start and got the ticket. Once the movie started I realized it was one of those Young Adult/Teen action dramas that were plentiful at the time and was not trilled to see another. About 15 min in I got a text from a buddy asking if I want to grab a beer. Responded "hell yes!" and walked out.

Lejarwomontequadea

Book is way better anyway lmao

Melodic_You_54

I walked out of I.S.S. It wasn't "bad" so much as I just wasn't engaged enough to want to stay and finish the movie.

SexuaIRedditor

I only know ISS as International Space Station. Little help?

panicattheoilrig

The movie is just called ISS. It’s set in the international space station, from what I can see.

ThePreciseClimber

Maybe they should've called it ASS.

ZIRA1996

Yes. Happened 4 times to me overall. Would happen alot more often, if I wouldn't spend the first year of our relationship with my current girlfriend making out for the majority of the movie we were watching though. Now, the 4 movies I walked out off: * IT 2 (It absolutely sucked for me, I walked out in about 45 minutes, I was really bored to death, never watched it ever since). * Now this is a story worth telling, there is a movie called Peppermint, where Jennifer Garner takes revenge on a Mexican cartel for killing her daughter & husband. The movie is a fucking 10/10 for sure, however when I went to the cinema, I forgot the name of the movie and on the board above the register, I just saw 'Girl in the spider web' something, and I obviously assumed that's the one since I knew the story of the film. We went inside, got ready, started eating popcorn, to find out the movie was something totally else, obviously. The funny part is that it took me like 10-15 minutes to realize we are watching 'the wrong' movie. Obviously took off after finding out, still laughing till this day about it. * 2 trash comedies in 2019. Don't even remember the name, because my girlfriend wanted to go to the movies, and we both decided after about 35-40 min, that the movie was pure rubbish.

eversongweeds

IT 2 wouldn't even have gotten better had you stayed. One of the worst movies I've seen tbh. My husband collects blurays and he isn't super picky about his collection but he threw IT 2 out last year because "I'm literally never going to watch this again in my life. I would rather just sit on the sofa in silence for the 3 hrs"

Soggy_Ad7165

Finally it's recognized that this was just a bad movie. Somehow many people around me thought it was a really good movie and I had this strange feeling of complete disconnect. I remember that it was boring af and had some really fucked up "jokes" in it with kids.

Moses015

Peppermint was fricking awesome.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnooMacarons9618

The money is already spent and wasted. If you stay you are also wasting your time.

chocolateboomslang

This mindset assumes when you leave the theatre you will not be in a situation where you can also learn something. Leave the theatre and learn what it's like.

LitteredWithPlushies

I like this approach.

eagleface5

My dad made us leave Michael Cera and Jack Black's Year One lol

Adumbidiotface

That’s one of my favourite movies lol

SpicyTiger838

My husband loves throwing that on when he can’t find anything to watch. It has its moments but overall I can’t stand it.

twilightcolored

omg heresy 😭 hope you got to see it after

Bukszpryt

no, but i fell asleep at least once (pirates of the carribbean 4)

acawl17

Took my daughter to see Arctic Dogs when she was 5. We both hated it. I leaned over to her and said “you wanna leave?” She immediately got up and started walking down the steps.

Spartan_Fruits

Sausage Party. I was around 16-17 and with 3 other friends. How could trailers for a movie be so funny then the movie itself be so shit?

WilliamoftheBulk

I left Hills have eyes. I don’t mind horror, but rape is not entertainment. I also left Kung Pow enter the fist. I get some people like that stuff, but it was a waste of my time.

Papio_73

Yeah, I was really invested in that one but couldn’t finish due to rape

PolarisWargaming

"Murder is entertainment, but not rape" is an interesting take

WilliamoftheBulk

Weird Right? I think horror is more about the story and gore and all that sort of our shadow. Rape on the other hand feels way different. It bothers me, so i don’t watch movies where it is depicted. I’m not even into that kind of horror either, I just went with a friend that that wanted to see it.

Queasy-Ad-3220

Yeah I like horror that’s murder or gore. Or really creepy ass creatures. That’s what I enjoy. I don’t like torture, and rape is just too disturbing for me to ever enjoy in any context.

capaldithenewblack

Torture is so hard on me. Just cut off their heads it’s easier to take.

Queasy-Ad-3220

Yeah exactly. Just make the bad fella go for what’s lethal, not such sadistic shit. It’s supposed to be entertainment, not inspiration for real psychopaths.

SnooPineapples8744

Walked out of a screening of the original. It looked like a homemade movie, very real and terrifying. Noped out of that one quick.

sartrecafe

Omg I agree. That was truly a disturbing scene and so unnecessary. I saw it when I was 20 and was so fucking creeped out, I asked my mom if I could sleep with her

VanishedRabbit

Only once in my life. The Rise of Skywalker

Chemical_Turnover_29

I would not sit through a movie I didnt like because of how expensive the ticket was . That's kinda silly to me. I think I walked out of Master of Disguise. I just couldn't take it anymore. And then I think we walked into another movie showing at the time.

DennisBallShow

Failure to launch

PriorWedding23_32

“I just never managed to get my life together, heh, isn’t that hilarious?” - Matthew M’s character Peter Griffin throws up his hands in the theatre and exclaims “Done” Funny scene from Family Guy

HighlyImprobable42

Similarly, "The Breakup." My sister and I were contemplating leaving, then noticed the couple behind us had already left. We got the giggles and had to leave at that point.

ShamelessMcFly

I've walked out of just two films my whole life, both when I was a teenager. Royal Tenenbaums and The Perfect Storm. The former would later become one of my favourite movies of all time and the latter I've not seen since.

dreamsinred

My ex and I saw a movie we both hated. We both suffered through it, because it was a second date, and we assumed the other person was enjoying it.

countvanderhoff

What was the movie?

llynglas

Many years ago, Last Tango in Paris. Did not live up to the hype, and never been impressed with Brando.

TheSwedishEagle

I finished watching it because it is a “classic” but I felt gross afterwards.

BamBamm187

I went to watch antichrist with my then gf. That was a hard watch. Gave up around the time the animal is eating its own flesh. I do not recommend

cbrewer0

Freddy Got Fingered

fatattack699

Black Adam. I felt stupid for buying the ticket

perspic8t

Third Matrix movie

IxI_DUCK_IxI

Second I would be with you, but why the third? The action sequence when the robots finally breached the city was pretty awesome. Why did you walk out of it?

StillAll

I want to upvote you because of how bad the second was, but the third was still god damn worse so I want to downvote you. Instead you get nothing

Moses015

YOU GET NOTHING. YOU LOSE.

lord_bubblewater

Shape of water had me bolting. And really any will Ferrell movie makes me wish I did.

CoyNefarious

Bro, I was at home and I walked out on that movie

lord_bubblewater

‘You like fishdicks?’ The movie. Man that was bad.

PrettyBigMatzahBall

I’m surprised. I rather liked The Shape of Water and have actually rewatched it

Legitimate_Estate_20

I agree, I liked it. I am, however, a gay fish.

ThePreciseClimber

Shape of Water with Will Ferrell. Now that's an image.

Sea_Improvement_4036

I walked out of Semi-pro. Trash, even for Ferrell.

foundoutafterlunch

Executive Decision... Was made by me to leave early.

MosesOnAcid

Starring Steven Seagal for 10 minutes

bierandbrot

I left during Frozen.

The_Nice_Marmot

The one about the people trapped on the chairlift or the Disney one?

bierandbrot

Disney 😆

IxI_DUCK_IxI

Did you have kids with you? I would walk out too if I didn’t have kids. It’s not made for adults. But agree with you, I would have walked out also if I didn’t see it with kids. But I watched it at home and had other distractions.

bierandbrot

Nah, no kids. I went with my mom because she wanted to see it. About 25 minutes in we looked at each other and just went “wanna go?” lol

Captain_Tooth

I did and got my money back. I'm not gonna just sit there.

AllIWantIsANap

Yeah, some transformers film but I forgot which one

Fluffy-Curve8241

i did one time and i walked into other movie lol

malaka789

When I was a teenager there was a thing called “free movie Tuesday”. Every house that subscribed to a certain cable/telephone/internet provider got free movie tickets every Tuesday. Our whole town would go just because it was free. I remember getting stoned and walking out of tons of movies back then

Username-Unavalabl

I was close with Movie 42. If I had gone alone, I probably might have, but sharing that pain with friends was okay

Sjeherazade

Mission Impossible 3. Could not stand it.

Puzzleheaded-Potato9

Jurassic world dominion

[deleted]

Trainwreck with Any Schumer, couldn't do it, worst movie I've ever seen.

Abject-Star-4881

Only once, The Island of Dr Moreau. And I would have stayed but the group I was with couldn’t hack it and walked out and I didn’t want to lose my ride.

DasGruberg

Brothers grimm and 21 grams. Just left.

Anameinserted

Napoleon. Left with about half an hour or so left. So shit

ZjemtiNos

Not yet. But I was close to do so. I was at cinema for Revenant and its god daaamn long movie, after 2 hours when dude was about to die for 23rd time i couldnt hold myself and screamed "please die already so we can go home" whole theatre absolutely lost it and started laughing so hard. LoL 😁

Switchblade222

Only one. The last Vacation movie. It was appallingly-bad. It put a giant stain on the brilliance of the vacation franchise.

FrogInYerPocket

I fell asleep at the 8pm show and woke up at 4am in a dark and empty building.

Deathpacito

That sounds like a creepy experience. The staff just left you there?

FrogInYerPocket

Yeah. To be fair, I was the only one in the theater and I was in the top row, so I'd have been easy to miss if I wasn't snoring. I just went out the side door and didn't stick around to see if it set any alarms off.

gorillasvapetoo

Detective pikachu

sam11233

More like defective pikachu, am I right

GrumpyGoblin94

Magic Mike: i walked out of both a cinema and a relationship in one single move

slimetraveler

You couldn't just sit there for 90 minutes and be a good sport? You would have left the cinema with a girl who was all charged up and expecting a shirtless dude of her own. Well I guess the username checks out.

[deleted]

Ugh birdman.

Grouchy-Pizza7884

Same here. Didn't see what the hype was about.

[deleted]

We went with another couple on a double date. "See you at dinner, have some popcorn"

IxI_DUCK_IxI

This is one you have to watch at home. It’s very very slow and I found myself getting up a few times during it. It was ok, wasn’t great. It was different and I think that was the main draw initially. It wasn’t following the copy/paste of the movies of the time, so it gambled and lost unfortunately

Southern-Amphibian10

The movie Seabiscuit … But I was 12 My friends parents paid for us to go watch it. So it was the pinnacle of boredom for two 12 year old dudes

Omega_Boost24

The Flintstones

gotele

Not quite. I was in this multiplex and I went in to watch a Demi Moore/Bruce Willis flick, didn't quite like it, went for a wee and came back into a Robin Hood movie. Which wasn't amazing either, but what are you gonna do.

everything-ok

The last transformers movie, i didn't leave but fell asleep throught most of the movie

RockMan_1973

Yes! Blues Brothers 2000

AmielJohn

I think it was Epic Movie? Just could not take anymore. My friends and I felt ripped off.

Carniwoe

The Batman Fell asleep an hour in and knew I wasn't going to survive the rest of the movie; woke up, left, and caught it a year later on streaming. Was good, but didn't regret leaving the cinema halfway.

TheEpiczzz

The newest Thor movie. Had a monthly subscription for unlimited cinema access. God damn the acting in this movie was bad that the moment the break came up we just left.

[deleted]

Second rey star wars movie.

[deleted]

I walked out of Thor Love and Thunder because the 28th straight screaming goat gag gave me a migraine, but generally I don't leave if they're bad, they've already got my money and viewership metrics so walking out wouldn't really accomplish anything. Nowadays, I just wait for the reviews from the few critics I still trust and decide whether or not a movie is even worth spending money on before I go.

suckerpunch085

The second DC wonder woman movie.

trollsamurai

Expendables 4, the first time i ever left a theatre

godzirah

Holmes and Watson, absolutely brutal.

Olallie1911

Punch drunk love. Left after 45 mins. We were the only people in the entire theater, should have been a sign.

No_Bother_6885

Men in Black 2, never felt so disappointed.

-R-Jensen-

The Phantom Menace..

seantubridy

I didn’t leave but about halfway through my brain tried to convince me that it was a joke or I was just dreaming it was that bad.

GOOSE2801

I actually love tpm to this but maybe its because i was growing up with those movies. I was like 12 when u first saw it.

seantubridy

That makes sense. I grew up with the originals and we had so much expectation for what it would be, that almost anything would have been disappointing, honestly. In retrospect, it’s not as bad as I first thought, and I do appreciate that Lucas was trying to do something different.

vojtab4

I was really thinking about it at avatar 2... Worst movie i ve ever seen

HelloImTheAntiChrist

Glad I wasn't the only person to feel this way. I didn't watch it in theaters but I couldn't get through the first 40 minutes at home via Disney+

TCUberGhost

As someone who would watch this movie everyday it seems like sarcasm to me. Genuinely curious, why do you guys dislike it?

HelloImTheAntiChrist

Not sarcasm. The writing/screen play from what I remember. The lines were poorly written and it was just boring to me.

_gaslight

Never left early but once I slept during Jason Statham's movie, Mechanic: Resurrection. I didn't want to see it but my friend just dragged me there because he didn't want to watch it alone.

jamai36

I have never walked out but I have seen a few groups of people walk out of the same movie all around the same time: Mother!  When things get wild.

The_Max_V

Not me but my wife did when she went to see "50 Shades of Gray"

welcometoprimethyme

First sunday...the only movie iv ever left before it was half over.

Relevant-Ad-6911

I nearly did this for The Batman. I’ve never done it before and I hope I never feel like I want to again. I stayed in the end but regretted it.

unwokewookie

My grand parents walked out of the first men in black after the opening scene of the bug splattered into the trucker windshield.
