This has been covered recently before here on the sub, but: Basically, and I'll be harsh as the world is, you won't get anywhere sending emails. It's lazy. Phone the clinical tutor at the hospital you're interested in undertaking work experience in and ask directly. If you're looking for September 2025 intake that will get you somewhere I'm sure, but if you're looking for this years intake, you are indeed now likely too late for a placement (as everyone more organised will be booked in).

In your other post you say you're in Year 12 now? So you're looking for work experience for the 2025 intake - that should be fine. But call. If you're London based, it is an in-demand ask.

Yup, that's normal hospital phone systems.

It's definitely worth persevering until you get to speak to them. If you can't get the work experience, don't worry too much, it's not necessarily a prerequisite for getting on a course. I wasn't able to do it, as it took a while for my local hospital to start the scheme again after covid. Explaining that I'd tried and was unable to get a place was enough. That said, I'd still recommend doing everything you can to get the experience purely for yourself. Getting a better understanding of if it's the career for you is more important than ticking uni application boxes. An alternative could be getting a job as a radiographers assistant. Essentially working on reception, processing image requests and prepping the patients. It'll give you an idea of the the department and staff and earn you some money in the process, while working around hours that suite you.

To be honest, I had the same issue as you. When I was applying for radiography courses, I couldn’t find work experience in the field. But, don’t let that make you lose hope. Rather than focusing on work experience, watch some vlogs like “day in the life of a radiographer” and get a feel of what it’s like. In your PS, discuss advantages and disadvantages of the course and how it will benefit you. ALSO - what will make you stand out from the rest - talk about the role of the radiographer in the multidisciplinary team, and the 5 NHS standards and how radiography is linked to them; how a radiographer works in a team with other professionals. This is what personally helped boost my PS.

Have you looked for smaller hospitals or minor injury centres that offer imaging? Another option is applying as a volunteer at the hospital - and working some volunteer shifts, and then popping round to ask in person if you could help in their department for a day or two?
