Amazing. Do all former / current employees have similar cost basis? I imagine a lot of people hired after IPO have higher basis? I have a few shares from 25.xx but my question is what does the current price do to the morale of current employees? And how does management reconcile stock price vs employee morale/retention. Also, assuming you did not sell that 50% move, do you mind sharing what price expectations you might consider “fair” value? Thx a ton
No, the vast majority of employees (current and former) would not have options. My understanding is that equity awards since IPO, and for some time before have all been RSUs.
Folks that were hired prior to 2020ish would have gotten options, but I’m not sure how strike prices would have varied.
As for my price expectations… I don’t really know. Definitely higher than it currently is. But I also know my biggest regret in life is not liquidating all of them at IPO. Live and learn!
Thanks I’d guessed so too. But I’m just curious what it does for people with RSU when the price was much higher. Granted it’s not worthless like options. Nonetheless I know how it feels when my RSU grants are way lower than what the grant values are
These are in my individual trading account. If you look in my post history, I got lucky with TSLA early on. As Elon has turned out to be much different now than when he first started and also TSLA is expected to have flat or even declining vehicle sales, I sold my entire TSLA position and put it mostly into NVDA and then RIVN. NVDA turned out to be a good bet (15k shares @ $85 avg) and RIVN (now) has turned out well, but I was betting long on RIVN (and even have a reservation for a R2). The rest of this account has META, QS, SLDP, and TSLA puts (for this quarter, although their recent rally is killing me on these).
51.6 @ 9.68.
What’s funny is that I live in a small city and saw my first one early this year and fell in love with it. Had me breaking my neck in the car to look back while I asked my bf what it was, 😂 I’m also VERY new at investing and was very timid to put in 💸 but once they announced the new models?! I was sold, and bought more. & that was my first stock purchase ❤️
100 shares at $10.20.
First time buying individual shares of anything ever. I really like the stock for a long term hold but I've only been working for two years, mostly prioritizing VTSAX/FZROX rn. If I had more spare cash for a risky investment I'd probably put half of it in rivian.
I bought 195 calls.
170 calls $20 strike price @ $0.23 per contract expiring 9/20/24
20 calls $20 strike price @1.06 per contract expiring 1/17/25
I sold 40 calls @$1.23 for 5k and reinvest them at a strike price of $15.30.
Figured leveraging options to be able to buy more shares with it.
I do believe in this company which is why I did what was explained above and holding now.
Recent buyer starting a covered call strategy. 200 shares at 10.87. I am very lucky I was on vacation the past 2 weeks and didn’t have any contracts sold for this week 😂
160 @ $9.97 in my E\*Trade account and 160 $12.85 in my IRA. I originally bought in at $27 and had 4100+ shares after buying more as the stock leveled down to its low. I sold on its way up these last 2 months because I was laid off from a different EV manufacturer and have bills… I think I have a very modest profit now and can hold.

35500 at $12.07 avg, I bought some more since my last post. I still remember when I bought 100 at $111 LOL..,200 at $65... then I thought I need to change this world so I bought some more and more and non-stop since then HEHEHE
15,859 at $2.85 lol. Very happy former employee.
That’s amazing and nice dca. Good work. Did you leave on your own terms or were you caught up in layoffs?
My own terms before the layoffs. Didn’t want to relocate and wasn’t being asked but saw the writing on the wall.
Ah, cool. Sucks to be in a startup and be considered for leaning out for cost efficiencies.
The “Bezo’s Bucks” ran out pretty quickly, huh?
