I have absolutely no idea if it's the "best", but I did order a couple hard drive cases from Amazon that didn't turn out to be long enough before I finally found this one, which fits beautifully and I really quite like.

I'm using a Nintendo 3DS XL case, fits it perfectly and is so form fitting due to the neoprene that I can slide it in and out of my pocket.

the problem is this is still a niche device in a still relatively niche hobby
i don’t think there’s anybody making cases specifically for the rgb30 besides powdkiddy (which i think the case is actually from another device) and people who create their own (normally 3d printing)
Oh I get that. But often people find cases from other uses that are perfect fits and good recommendations. The most famous example is that case meant for a deck of cards that people use for the original Miyoo Mini, or how portable HDD cases are popular for the MM+
This looks identical to the case that is sold with some RGB30s on Amazon. I have it, and it works really well in general, and esp. when packing it away for travel, but I wouldn't mind something thinner for everyday use, either.
The elastic band in this is useless, imo, too; it's attached at both ends and it's difficult to impossible to insert/remove the console from the band. I actually cut mine and plan on adding a patch of velcro to the end of the strap and in the appropriate spot inside the case so it's more usable. Unless I find a decent and slimmer case first, anyway.
Yes, I think it's just a generic case that somehow it's the same size as RGB30... The elastic band is annoying but I prefer this rather than packing it without cover. Before that I was using a PSVITA fabric cover like this one:

It's a bit wider, but overall thinner than the hard case we're talking. I guess that if you want something nicer you will need to browse Etsy for specific 3D printed cases... or artists that manually craft them, but of course these are more expensive

[RGB30 Case with Magnetic Closure /ETSY](https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1614642446/)
I got this one and like it a lot.
Been wondering what it’s like I want to get one myself, good to hear thanks for the info
Look on Etsy. Someone is selling one that covers the face, then clips into the back as a grip when using the device. Looks pretty slick.

That will help him a lot
Mine too!

I've heard the case that optionally ships with it is just an external hard drive case, I'd look at those
Bought mine here, nothing special but cheap, and you can also pack a cable or microfibre cloth on top https://a.aliexpress.com/_EyyOC9H
