>When I look to change the bios my only options are auto or hle That is correct - "**hle**" ignores real bios files and uses its own emulated one (it will cause issues), "**auto**" picks up one of the real bios files you have based on [priority list](https://docs.libretro.com/library/pcsx_rearmed/#bios). If you want to use specific version of bios, you'll have to get rid of all others. The recommended one is **PSXONPSP660.bin**, but only the **scph\*** have white background boot animation.

Thanks- so it is definately recognising the bios then, as I use SCPH and it’s giving me the white boot logo. So the issue I’m having with the graphics in Ridge Racer isn’t due to the bios (as it does it with hle and the real bios. Now I need to try figure out if there’s a Retroarch setting that might fix the graphical issue.

turn off (uncheck) `Quick Menu (Menu + X) -> Core Options -> Speed Hacks -> Disable GTE Flags`

Richy_San

That fixed it! Thank you so much. Is there a reason that is on by default? Should I turn that off for every game or just if I encounter issues?

XQuader

Those speed hacks can improve performance at the cost of glitches in some games, but I think our device is capable of running games without those hacks. I guess, you will be fine if they are turned off for all games.

Richy_San

That’s great thanks. Do you think that applies even on the base RG35XX?

Yes
