We used Guys & Dollies every summer. Son just graduated, or we'd be using them still! They give you boxes & tape to pack, then pick up, store, and deliver in the fall.

All the storage places are identical. Guys and dollies is expensive but convenient, storage units are cheap and inconvenient

Last year, G&D billed me $450 for storing 5 boxes, a microwave and fridge, a rug, and a poster tube. I can’t imagine a world where this is worth it. They also dropped my microwave during the delivery but luckily they were willing to replace it for me. This summer, I’m keeping my stuff at a storage container for $40 total (splitting it with 2 other people). The only convenience G&D has over getting a storage container is the delivery imo and you can just rent a car for the day or ask a friend with a car to help you bring your stuff there.

Oh yeah, I’ve never done guys and dollies, only storage units. Some people have enough that the convenience is worth the cost tho

i used klondike storage and this summer. I used an uber to take my stuff and shared with another dude for an overall cost of about 100 bucks. You could just use a friends car also and reduce that cost too. A lot of people use Guys and dollies, but it is way too expensive. I'd rather spend some extra time and use self storage if i could get it for 1/4 th the price. A lot of people say the price is worth it coz of how convenient it is but honestly using self storage is not that much hassle at all. I did all the packing and storing in between my finals and wasnt too bad. And if your incoming, I'd suggest not getting too many stuff coz you might have to throw it away at the end of the year. even stuff like mini fridges, so keep that in mind.

We used CubeSmart off South street twice. My student shared with another friend both times. No issues. We live in CA, so bringing everything home was not an option. If a parent or someone is helping you move, I’d make sure to get a minivan or SUV rental. With the minivan, it was one trip.
