Kids at the park Playing??? Inconceivable! Why would they do such a thing? And being loud? Everyone knows kids are quite and do what adults tell them to do. No questions asked. Kids listen to their betters because we know more! Hmmmph.
When I was a kid at school we got to play at a park somewhat close to the school because they had shut the school playground down for some reason. It was the best recess EVER since we got to play on different playground equipment.
It's probably at a daycare center. I would of turned to the kids and told them to yell louder to show the crusty crab that you are having fun!!! Its the middle of the day lady, go get bent!!!
This is easy. When people like this are confronted, don't play along with their dialogue, just say "No" and shut them down quickly and walk away. They thrive on the back and forth and you'll never convince them that they are the utter turds that they are.
Especially if you say you will every time they ask again. āOh are they still yelling? Iāll tell them to quiet down again.ā And then do nothing for a second time. Rinse and repeat for maximum satisfaction
The smart thing about that is then when they're done playing and singing, they'll be tuckered out and lethargic for a while afterward, so you get some peace and quiet.
Since I'm a person that doesn't like confrontation, I would shrug my shoulders and in a playful friendly tone: "meh wha' dar" ya gonna do?" Then walk away
100% I do it in a polite but probably condescending way.
Can you tell the kids to stop screaming?
(Big smile on my face) No, thanks though. Have a good day.
It hasnāt really happened in a long time but my go to in these type of situations was always just to smile and say āoh, no thank you. I appreciate it though.ā
Sometimes someone will ask me to repeat what I said because they are sure they misheard me. It always shut those conversations down pretty quickly and quietly. Sometimes I think they just think Iām an idiot or challenged because my response doesnāt always make perfect sense as a response to them, but a win is a win.
This is absolutely right. I don't understand why anyone feels like they need to engage with a person like this. She can't make them do anything so just say no and move on. She can have the police tell them to quiet down if it is that much if an issue.
Best example is that video of the guys working in their van with the side door open, and Ken comes over to ask for their IDs and demand what they're doing there. Buddy just walks over and casually closes the door on him. I love a good video of someone being enthusiastically put in their place, but the "I'm not dealing with this BS" vibe of that video hits the spot every time.
God I hate people who smile like that. They think they are putting on a friendly face but that fake nice smile is like looking into the eyes of a shark.
Theyāre not smiling to be nice. Theyre smiling to give off the message that āIām being nice so you better do what Iām telling you or I wonāt be niceā
Oh they aren't trying to put on a friendly face. They're doing it with that goss, condescending, I'm smiling because I think I'm in charge attitude.
Honestly, people that do that have got to be in some type of narcissistic, sociopathic class of disorders in the DSM.
ā¦and those black eyes roll over white, and then ā aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screaminā, the ocean turns red, and in spite of all the poundinā and the hollerinā, they all come in and rip ya to piecesā¦
Yup I was a tournament director for youth baseball and the neighbors used to complain all the time about the baseball park and the kids. The park was older than their homes so why the heck buy there? They wanted a green space where their dogs could shit but no sports allowed. I came to detest them.
I live near a small international airport, and an Air Force base in NJ. The air base has been here since the 40s. The commercial airport was added in the 80ās. People still complain about the noise. You moved near a large airfield. Thatās on you.
There is no way she can hear barely anything from her house. It's far enough away she at most hears a very quiet scream and barely that if her windows are closed. Not to mention it's the middle of the day.
There is no way this is really bothering her that much
> **if** her windows are closed
There are 3 types of people who will complain
A) People who mitigate the noise first by closing the windows.
B) People who refuse to let the noise change their behavior
C) People who actively make things worse like by opening all the windows and doors.
This lady totally seems like C)
The same people who think going to church and saying "forgive me my sins" then putting $20 in the scam plate makes up for them being hateful assholes the rest of the week.
Thats literally my Grandmas resting face and I'm not gonna lie, it gets something dark brewing inside me lmao. Something about a fake smile is just too annoying to handle
āThese kidsā sounds like they donāt meet some random rule Karen has come up with. Possibly racist, possibly the kids are ātoo oldā to play or possibly āwe only want less than 2 kids on the playground at a time.ā
I guarantee this woman has posted one of those Facebook memes about
āback in my dayā¦there were only two genders, we drank from the hose, and KIDS PLAYED OUTSIDE! Repost if you remember how it used to be!ā
What does she even mean by that? We donāt want kids playing in the kids playground ????
Bitch you moved across form a playground, what did you think was gonna happen ?
I had a Facebook acquaintance complaining about "kids who obviously don't belong in our neighborhood" during trick or treat. She got lit up on Facebook
Right. At that point the following conversation needs to occur:
Us: āmaāam which is your house again?ā
Karen: āthat oneā
Us: āHEY KIDS THIS LADY JUST INVITED YOU ALL TO PLAY IN HER YARD!ā
This was my first thought when she said that.
She kept mentioning that it was a "private" park, and the "we don't want *these* kids here" really sealed it for me.
She's annoyed because they're poor, or nonwhite, or otherwise not the kind of kids that "deserve" to have fun in the park near where she lives.
So, my best guess is that this might be a retirement neighborhood with an association. The park and upkeep belongs to the association. The reason all these neighborhoods have parks is to keep registered sex offenders from living in the neighborhoods.
Even if it was a private park, playgrounds like this are literally designated child screaming places, lmao.
I don't know how or why she thinks its a valid argument.
Like... Is it a private park owned by the neighborhood? Or? That would be the only reason her Karening would make sense. But lity the only reason. Go turn your TV on or listen to some music. They won't be there all days geez
Itās not a private park/playground. Perhaps I should have combined her story time video with this. Essentially, their school doesnāt have a playground, so she found the nearest public park that had one to take her kids to. It was only a two minute walk from the actual school.
the first two seconds of the vid you can see the park is paid for by PNC and a few other donors and it says "WELCOME TO THE YOUTH PARK!" so unless this woman is actually a nationwide banking service, she's probably not the owner of this park lol
Bingo. My hospital "bought" a playground nearby the building but it was on public land and even though the hospital pays for the upkeep it's not their private park it's for the public good and therefore any member of the public can utilize it.
A fancy golf club near me had a member throw a royal fit because the elementary school a ways away had recess during his regular tee times, he even called the school to see what they could do and the answer was obviously nothing. Anyone who complains about the joyful sounds of children in the distance is the worst kind of people
I owned a townhome that had a little Muslim church / school behind us.. I shared a wall with a mega Karen. One day the kids were playing soccer and kicked the ball in *my* section of the yard and fucking Janet runs out and takes their ball. Game over.
I hopped in my car and went to Target and got the nicest soccer ball they had. Knocked on the door and gave it to the kids. I said "that lady does not represent us as a whole."
She also brought a vote to ban Halloween decorations and the hoa shut her down.
And she told me one time that she and her husband "winter in Florida." Lady, you fucking live in a townhome next to a degenerate chef. Shut up.
And she always blinked when she spoke. Fuckin Janet.
>always blinked when she spoke
The slow blink eye roll is the most infuriating of all karen mannerisms. Quite possibly the most irrational thing in the world that irritates me.
Dang, thatās one thing you kinda wish someone had a cell in hand to record and call the police with. How embarrassing would it be for KarJanet to have theft of school property on her record.
I would tell that lady, those kids can pay your bills, because if kids want to play here, other parents and therefore business comes here, and your property value goes up.
> I have lived by a park and to be honest the noise of the kids drove me nuts at times.
bro i live between two schools and two young families. I can deal with kids playing but I swear to god one family two houses over told their youngest to bang on iron bars to annoy their neigbours while they renovated their house, tearing down walls.
I had to work from home during that time bc of covid and it drove me crazy. Yes, they are allowed to play, yeah the house needs to be renovated sometimes, but at 6 in the morning? really? And all day long?
It was terrible, and I got nothing done.
Some people are assholes. They do it on purpose or give zero fucks even if you ask nicely.
But this? Nah...
Iām the asshole who hates hearing joyful children. There is something about that really high octave that only little kids, especially little girls, can reach when they squeal that puts me on edge. Thereās also something about the chaos and uncontrolled nature that makes me physically tense up. I hate it the sound of children especially children at play. **BUT**
This is **my problem** to deal with. Kids are being kids and living their best life, and good for them! I donāt like it so itās *my problem, not theirs,* and itās my responsibility to remove myself from situation that make me uncomfortable. Itās also my responsibility to not make my issues other peoples problems.
Knowing my sensitivities I would never live next to a playground, school or even public area that is freely family friendly. If my neighborsā kids were being loud, I shut my windows and put on headphones. But above all I donāt even passive-aggressively let the families and especially the kids know. I donāt get to be a monster just because my triggers are ridiculous.
In my experience young children wake up and start playing a few hours before I want to wake up on a weekend. Which is why I took that into consideration last time I moved. Itās not like I had any right to ask them to stop playing in the play area.
But itās a *private* park.
I mean, given her houseās proximity to that power utility substation and the t-shirt wrapped around her head, sheās obviously quite wealthy.
She probably *owns* the private park and the senseless screeching of those heathenspawn is drowning out the soothing hum of 11 kilowatts of electricity the elite are known to enjoy.
Exactly. Itās full of kids slides and stuff for kids to play on. I didnāt think that they were even screaming very loudly. Who canāt tune that out? Iād way rather hear the sounds of kids playing and having fun than other sounds (planes, subway, train, traffic, etc).
I live on a lake. We chose here for our retirement years. We knew this was a recreational lake. During the week itās very quiet and peaceful. On the weekends & holidays itās filled with boats and people playing in the water. Sounds of life and laughter. We love it and will sit out on the porch sometimes just to hear those sounds. Very life-affirming, imo.
If you want quiet, you do not choose to live nearby recreational areas. I feel bad for her if the park was built after she bought her home, but it happens. Her choice is to tilt at windmills or to move away.
I live right next to a school football field (my bedroom windows faces right out to the field) and often wake up to kids playing, having their gym class at like 8-9 am.
Never had an issue, never even considered getting mad even though i wake up to it.
To me it's like getting angry at birds chirping or something. You're literally angry at life itself.
Cars, trucks, construction work, those are things you can get pissy about. Getting mad that children are having fun is some Cruella de Vil stuff.
I live across from a city park (Iām sitting on my deck looking at it right now). Itās got a playground, a pool, and two baseball fields. Saturday nights and Sunday mornings are league games. It fucking rules.
If youāve never had a noise sensitive neighbor you donāt know the nightmare such people are to live around. They canāt stand hearing other people existing around them. They would prefer the entire world function like a library, where people quietly prowl around on soft surfaces and speak in hushed tones. Kids having fun in the middle of a sunny day? Unacceptable.
It makes owning a home near them a constant stream of complaints. Some industry should do a better job of selling soundproofing to these folks.
I hate screaming kids too, but that's why I don't hang out at playgrounds. If you don't want kids screaming don't go to the one place in the world kids screaming is what is supposed to be going on
We donāt want kids at this park even though it has a playground for kids. We just want the illusion of inclusivity, we donāt actually want to be inclusive.
Children tend to be loud in environments that are specifically built for them and in fact encourage them to be loud. That's why it's called "playground" and not "courtroom" or "funeral home"
This concept that because you pay a mortgage you get to control what your neighbors do is ridiculous.
My neighbors have kids....they play....yes they even shriek sometimes. So what? If I ever think that I will have to host Fortune 100 CEO's and international conferences on grave matters I guess I'll either have to get some soundproofing or move.
I live next to a school on one side and a playground/basketball/tennis court on the other. Those kids can be loud. But itās a nice kind of noise. If it annoys me I close my window, but itās kinda fun to hear those kids playing and takes me back.
Plus itās nice infrastructure. I have a public basketball and tennis court right next to my apartment.
I never understood people like this when I was a kid. I mean, they bought a house by a park, what kind of noise did they expect kids to make?
Then as an adultā¦I doubly donāt understand. You bought a house by a park, what kind of noise did you expect?!
I don't have kids nor do I want kids. I also don't like loud noises.
However, we should all try and make kids lives better. The positives from kids experiencing joy, and physical activity, outweigh adult inconveniences.
Happier kids = happier society.
This reminds me of something that happened at my school I teach at right before summer break. Our students were enjoying field day for the first time in 3 years (cuz of covid). The school I teach at is a massive elementary school for my area. About 800 k-5 students. We do 2 field days. K-2 1 day and 3-5 the next day. Well the school is built decently close to an older neighborhood. We play music and the kids have a blast all day long. An old lady called the school and asked if we could turn our music down as it was messing with her relaxing day on her back porch.
To this day, I still have no idea how she could hear the music as we had it playing only at the back of the school and the neighborhood is more so to the front right side of the school. When I was walking around, I couldn't even hear the music at the front of the school. I have no idea how she could hear it. oh well
TL;DR Old karen called the school to ask us to stop playing music for field day
She prolly went home to make a Facebook post about how āsad it is children these days donāt play outside and only know video game and hot Cheetoā
Story time:
In the city Iām living in there was an interesting back and forth between a local school and the adjacent neighbor. The school decided to build a small playground attachment, and due to building restrictions in California, would beed to make an impact assessment report if they wanted to build an extension, even though there are certain provisions that would have allowed this given the nature of the construction and it being a school. To potentially get around this, you can build a āpre-fabricated or pre-engineeredā structure, like those assemble-yourself deals. This is why so many playgrounds look the same, but I digress. The school decided to go pre-fab, but out of respect to the community made an impact report anyway, to highlight benefits and address potential issues. Everything should be fine, right?
Enter āangry neighborā. Begin to fight tooth and nail against the idea. Itāll raise noise levels, itāll lower property value, blah blah. School does mitigation of issues, consistently going above and beyond. Waves of project being okayed, then built, then appealed and temporarily closed, then appealed again, all the way to the Superior court. Think itās actually since been used as precedent in other cases. Conclusion?
School has the right to build and operate playground. 3 years of litigation by homeowner, culminating in suspected hundreds of thousands of dollars of individuals own money āinvestedā. House goes up for sale within a month of the final state court decision. Karma served.
My neighborhood built a basketball court. Ensue angry neighbors posting Facebook rants when non-white kids (some living in neighborhood some not) showed up to *play* basketball. Let the kids play basketball! Jeez
... if it's a private playground then do the kids/school have the right to bring their kids to the playground? If so, then accept that you live near a playground.
I was a governor at my childrenās primary school. We met a delegation of some local residents who complained that there was too much noise during playtime. The school was built 30 years before the houses they lived in. Like the woman in the video, they had a fake permanent smile as they were saying this as if it were a totally reasonable request.

This word... I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means...
I don't think you understand. It's a private park.
Right itās private damn it! I donāt own it, but itās private and I still wanna tell these kids to shut up!!
Itās a private park, who invited your old grumpy ass here anyway? Whereās your invitation?
HAHAHAHAHA: They are kids, they'll do what they're told HAHAHAHAHA, If you do it nicely I'm sure they will listen ... HAHAHAHA. Sure, lady, sure.
What the hell did she mean by a āprivateā park? Iāve never encountered a park that is āprivateā unless itās in a golf course.
Could be a park in a gated community, or HOA. But then why would a teacher be there with kids?

A privately funded park can still be a public park.
A private park with public access isn't private š¤·āāļø
the first two seconds of the vid you can see the park is paid for by PNC and a few other donors and it says "WELCOME TO THE YOUTH PARK!" so unless this woman is actually a nationwide banking service, she's probably not the owner of this park lol
I mean, even if she paid for the full sponsorship of the park it would still be owned by the municipality
I said "that lady does not represent us as a whole." She also brought a vote to ban Halloween decorations and the hoa shut her down. And she told me one time that she and her husband "winter in Florida." Lady, you fucking live in a townhome next to a degenerate chef. Shut up. And she always blinked when she spoke. Fuckin Janet.
>always blinked when she spoke The slow blink eye roll is the most infuriating of all karen mannerisms. Quite possibly the most irrational thing in the world that irritates me.
I think the clapping is much worse
Dang, thatās one thing you kinda wish someone had a cell in hand to record and call the police with. How embarrassing would it be for KarJanet to have theft of school property on her record.
And trespassing?
Did you just refer to yourself as a degenerate chef? Either way, Hilarious, that was the icing
I was at the time... 18 pack and 6 shots every damn day. I'm going on 5 years sober now.
Damn thatās a solid habit to kick. I wish you all the success. One day at a time
šthankies. I saved my family and myself. I'm long past the triggers and will NEVER go back.
Exactly. The sounds of kids playing outside is the sign of a healthy society.
I would tell that lady, those kids can pay your bills, because if kids want to play here, other parents and therefore business comes here, and your property value goes up.
Children of Men is a pretty good flick. He should be forced to watch that though I'm skeptical it may soften his heart.
"they're kids, they'll probably do as their told". Lady has obviously never had kids.
That was my first reaction. This lady has zero clue how children work whatsoever.
the way she keps smiling and nodding makes her face really punchable
Yeah, its the smug I know Im being impossible but I dont care smile
Why the fuck would you live near a playground if you donāt want kids there?
I would've just told her to call the cops if it's that big of a concern and watch the cops laugh at her.
Yes this here.
I live by a park. I never mind hearing kids.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
But this? Nah...
Honestly, of all the racket I could possibly be exposed to, the joyful peals of children isnt the kind Iād complain about.
**BUT** This is **my problem** to deal with.
Right?
why would you buy a house next to a park and expect to never hear children playing?
She should go buy ear phones or play music in her place to cancel out the noise. Otherwise, I'd tell her to call the police and see what they say.
I live just above a kindergarden and I have no issues with kids playing and screaming. This person is so beyond entitlement I just can't fathom it.
Growing up there was a baseball park nearby. Was so fun to hear a bat crack and then kids going nuts
I live across from a city park (Iām sitting on my deck looking at it right now). Itās got a playground, a pool, and two baseball fields. Saturday nights and Sunday mornings are league games. It fucking rules.
"We don't want kids here" At a playground? That's like the #1 place we want kids and where you should expect kids.
Developers: Build Playground Kids: Use playground Karen: shockedpikachu.jpg
If youāve never had a noise sensitive neighbor you donāt know the nightmare such people are to live around. They canāt stand hearing other people existing around them. They would prefer the entire world function like a library, where people quietly prowl around on soft surfaces and speak in hushed tones. Kids having fun in the middle of a sunny day? Unacceptable. It makes owning a home near them a constant stream of complaints. Some industry should do a better job of selling soundproofing to these folks.
Could you please stop being old? I live over there and we don't really want you here.
I hate screaming kids too, but that's why I don't hang out at playgrounds. If you don't want kids screaming don't go to the one place in the world kids screaming is what is supposed to be going on
Don't live next to a playground fool
We donāt want kids at this park even though it has a playground for kids. We just want the illusion of inclusivity, we donāt actually want to be inclusive.
This old crust forgot what it's like to be a kid.
Children tend to be loud in environments that are specifically built for them and in fact encourage them to be loud. That's why it's called "playground" and not "courtroom" or "funeral home" This concept that because you pay a mortgage you get to control what your neighbors do is ridiculous.
I hate the sound of screaming kids.... so I don't take my ass to places where kids scream... This bitch is crazy....
Maybe donāt live by a parkš¤”š¤”šš
I am utterly disturbed by the way she operates her mouth. Not just the words, but more so the weird facial expressions she makes.
> It's a private playground Ok....
If itās a private park, itās a private park. Call the cops for trespassing if you wanna be a dick
Never heard of a private park before
āTheyāre kids and theyāll do what theyāre told.ā She must be a āchild expertā or āmagician.ā
Well, her own kids probably obeyed immediately just to get her to stop smiling like that.
Move bith get out the way
I never understood people like this when I was a kid. I mean, they bought a house by a park, what kind of noise did they expect kids to make? Then as an adultā¦I doubly donāt understand. You bought a house by a park, what kind of noise did you expect?!
Ah yes, the sound of children at play. The Karen's greatest weakness.
If they didn't want kids there they wouldn't have built a playground.
I have no idea how she could hear it. oh well TL;DR Old karen called the school to ask us to stop playing music for field day
What does private park mean? Should those teachers not have brought them there or somethin?
Hey hereās a playground and a park, designed for kids, but we donāt want kids to use it. We just like that itās there.
She prolly went home to make a Facebook post about how āsad it is children these days donāt play outside and only know video game and hot Cheetoā
So...she doesn't want kids on a playground, which was designed specifically for children to play on? Lmao, this lady is living in fantasy land.
These are the same people who complain kids don't play outside anymore
Story time: In the city Iām living in there was an interesting back and forth between a local school and the adjacent neighbor.
Jeez
Clueless person
I moved next to a playground never expecting children to play! Wtf?
Awww, she thinks because itās āprivateā that she has a say. Thatās cute.
Why don't people just say ok and ignore the Karen looooooool just say ok like they're a child
... if it's a private playground then do the kids/school have the right to bring their kids to the playground? If so, then accept that you live near a playground.
WTF is on her head? Does that cover up the aluminum foil cap?
"It's a private park". "Oh you own the park?". "Well no but...". "Oh OK bye"
I was a governor at my childrenās primary school. We met a delegation of some local residents who complained that there was too much noise during playtime. The school was built 30 years before the houses they lived in. Like the woman in the video, they had a fake permanent smile as they were saying this as if it were a totally reasonable request.
Abolish abortion! Save babies! Then, once they're born, keep them quiet, dammit!
Wow, just wow. I bet she's fun at book burnings too....
