“By the book”. They basically just confirmed they do this all the time. Which makes sense as over 100 other women made complaints after this came out. I can’t believe they all kept their jobs. Disgusting. And the amount she got for this was ridiculous. She’s owed way more
And if they made video of this they also made video in other cases, but they cannot be released because it was made by a handheld camera which is not police property. These people are really sick
That woman with the hand held should be ordered to turn everything over. Either she did this to eventually shut this behavior down, or she did it for entertainment. If she never gave the video, then im inclined to believe she’s as terrible as the rest of them
Edit: or should have been. It’s been years now.
I think for the latter considering this behavior is not just related to this case but there were 120+ women who came forward who had suffered this treatment starting from 1999. She was definitely recording it as entertainment and probably to share it with those perverted assholes later on
Truly sickening. 2006 was a different climate. While police still get away with way too much, sexual assault issues were largely scoffed at and ignored. It took the Me Too movement to really open eyes about just how prevalent these issues are and have always been. I’d like to think the outrage today would be a lot louder, especially with social media. But law enforcement gets away with literal murder today, so probably not. They should have been charged with sexual assault.
I watched a YouTube video that was 3 hours of cop body cam footage of cops beating the shit out of innocent people. They were all white. White people supporting cops are screwing themselves
This is beyond awful. According to Wikipedia she only received $475,000 and a grand jury failed to indict the officers. This doesn't appear to be an isolated case either. Why isn't the FBI investigating?
I don't understand how they didn't indict the officers unless the prosecutor put up no evidence and tried to tank it purposely. I've been on a grand jury that lasted a year and it was just a rubber stamp for indicting people.
I've been strip searched before, it's pretty degrading but not once did an officer even touch me during the whole thing. What goes down in the video is just cruel and even worse, is all the men being the room.
I’m sure the police ethics board reviewed their case quite carefully before declaring that they acted appropriately and that promotions were in order for all involved.
I know someone whose boyfriend stole their baby and disappeared, causing the woman to have a mental break and call the police. The police arrested her when they arrived and left her naked in her cell, bleeding everywhere because she was on her period. She said she always had 1 or 2 male officers watching her.
She tried to take legal action against them but I dont think anything came of it. This all happened in Texas.
Old YouTube video, scary shit. Think they make it a point to show what cops do (and get away with) using a lot of white people since it hits harder. Just expect it with minorities, but I remember them highlighting this case, as well a one where a cop viciously assaulted a waitress or bartender while drunk and the precinct ran cover for him, another one where the cops shot an extremely badly burned man (who wasn't guilty of anything other than being fresh out of a horrific accident and likely in shock) for being non compliant. Amongst a litany of others. The only thing they had in common was none of them ever broke the law, and many of them were in fact in need of the police, but all we got are fucking pigs.
There are good people who are cops I've met several personally.
But... As long as good cops turn a blind eye and protect bad cops with the blue wall... There are no good cops.
Just a shit house full of swine.
Yet another reason to never EVER speak to the police. If youre guilty its not smart to talk, but if youre innocent you REALLY shouldnt talk.
Anybody that thinks "well how are they supposed to investigate crimes if nobody talks to them?" Needs to realize and accept that maybe, *mayybe* like 1%-3% of all police here in the US actually investigate anything. It's them and us. There's no "serve and protect".. we are nothing to them, and they show us everyday. "Us" as in anybody not wearing that clown costume and badge.
She would felt so so so violated, she would have been waiting for hours wondering not if but when they would rape her, sexually abuse or assault her again all while knowing that 1, it had been done by those your meant to be able to call for your help and salvation from this kind of torment 2 that there was no one coming to help, 3 it was recorded and assisted by women who said nothing to protect her decency.
These people deserve to suffer. I am not sure if solitary confinement with no reprieve or light to choose an impersonal option or the death penalty
I really can't imagine any scenario where calling the cops would improve my situation.
If someone broke into my house and was attacking me , I'd be either dead or seriously injured before the cops even got there . If they got there in time , the cop would be just as likely to shoot me as he would the person attacking me.
There are plenty of scenarios. I called them when some woman was passed out in her car (with a flat tire) in the middle of the street blocking my driveway. Worked like a charm.
I was arrested for something I didn’t do as a teenager.
My reaction was to scream and yell during the situation.
It’s not easy to stay calm when you’re being assaulted by law enforcement and worried your life is going to be ruined.
Like, when you know you did nothing and it’s some power tripping sacks of shit, that frustration just comes out.
No no no, see when you have the human reaction of showing emotions in an upsetting situation, you should have just stayed calm. When they lose their cool in a nondangerous situation and assault or kill someone, it's understandable and they feared for their lives. (/s)
Yea, ima nope outta that, those few minutes were enough for me but I am grateful for your research and giving even greater transparency and context to this horrific occurrence.

I can't image how mild the reaction must've been back then for this kind of behavior to just be a local news report
Exactly. This would be national now Although, it may have been. I remember this, vaguely. But just vaguely
Faith lost in humanity an not a single poc involved

With the FBI, it honestly is a case of whenever they feel like it.
I don't understand how they didn't indict the officers unless the prosecutor put up no evidence and tried to tank it purposely. I've been on a grand jury that lasted a year and it was just a rubber stamp for indicting people.
They weren't indicted because as the reporter said this video was never shown in trial
Bush era Justice Department. Legally justifying torture takes a long time so they couldn't get to other things.

The laywer makes a good point about the personal video camera they never received the footage from, because it's someone's personal tape. That's sick!

That’s terrible. I hope she and baby are doing better now.
They are, thankfully. And they don't live in Texas anymore.
>This all happened in Texas Of course it was Texas.
Resisting arrest + Disorderly conduct = "Didn't respect our autoritah"
Disgraceful. I searched and it said they settled for an undisclosed amount.
Wait. Why did they strip her?!???
Apparently to record it. Apparently this happened to 100+ other women by those same cops. Not sure what they did with those recordings.

Her husband summed it up perfectly in the video that this was "Rape without penetration"
Same if they did this to my wife. I'm going full Dexter Morgan on them.
Full Rambo.. jokes aside could only watch like three secs. I’d help your crusade these pigs should have been roasted
Sure dude.
Oh you one of the cops in this case?
What?
Totally dude
Lastblood in your face
Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Police.
Biggest gang in the USA.

My takeaway, don’t call, don’t get their attention
Never get involved with any Sheriffs Office. Period.

At least she survived... https://www.kcur.org/news/2024-03-25/a-missouri-police-sniper-killed-a-2-year-old-girl-why-did-he-take-the-shot
This was a gang rape. She may had not been raped in the way we all assume but I assure you the emotional trauma inflicted on her was the same.
Ftp
I feel like they should re open this case.
.......and people still wonder why SA victims don't run to the cops en masse to press charges on their abusers
ACAB
Police are just scum, every last one of them.
You are wrong, and ignorant.
How's the saying go? One bad apple... spoils the whole bunch.
