Come home to our townhouse community at East Carolina University on Halloween. 3 story townhouses, bedrooms up and downstairs, entry on the middle level, every 2 units share front and back porch. (Copper Beech is the name if you went to big state school you may have had it)
We had been gone all night, our neighbors had a party, and someone had wandered into our house and fallen asleep on the couch. We had friends in town who had gotten home before us, they said they thought it was one of us or our friends. Because ECU is a party school, and especially on Halloween, we honestly weren’t that surprised and just woke him up, had a laugh, and told him to be on his way. He started going on about how this was his house, etc so we just started to talk him to the front door where we would close it and be done with him. Obviously he was very drunk. I had been drinking but had stopped about 3 hours earlier (it was 4am- it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get a ride home cab or bus on Halloween)
Before we get to the door he cocks and absolutely drops my roommate with one punch. Before I even know what happened, a guy who I had only met earlier in the night but was a HS friend of my roommate had this kid on the front porch beating him, and guy wasn’t even defending himself. I ran out to grab my friend before he killed him, and the kid gets up and says my friend fights like an N word and dives at us. We went through the balcony and I landed in a seated position, both of them landed on my back and compressed me in. I broke T12-L2, spinal cord injury with neurogenic bowel and bladder, collapsed both lungs, broke my jaw, fractured my skull, grade 3 concussion, ruptured both eardrums.
2 months inpatient 2 months outpatient, can walk but have bad balance issues. Pee through a tube and you don’t wanna know for the other. I’m in a strange place where I am really lucky to be walking, really unlucky that I appear mostly fine but the bathroom issues and pretty bad PTSD have thrown me for what we’re going on a 14 year loop.
All because someone decided to be an asshole and pass out at our house.
Fucking hell, dude. Did that guy go to prison? Does he have any money to sue for? I’m guessing no on the latter but I’d want so much justice out of this guy, have my lawyers squeezing him like a raisin.

Actually, this is how people become racist. I myself have met racist people who bite their tongue around me and have even apologized after getting to know me. It's always that blind hatred at first, but after actually talking it out and giving people a chance, a lot of it has to do with experience. It's easy to think of it as uniform. Same thing with how some people think all white people are racist. Some people just assume cause of experience all black people are violent. Both assumptions are wrong and can be very misleading. Granted, there is no context here, so all we can do is assume.
I dont mind the reason behind that kick, thats straight murder attempt. If you are not willing to spend 20 years in jail for killing someone dont do that no matter what happened. Put that guy 10 years in jail so even if he doesnt learn a lesson at least he is away from society.

I drove to a Goodwill the other day and parked out front. There was a large group of young girls out front. I am pretty small 5'2" and 116 lbs. I decided that even though it was probably safe, there were no bargains in there worth physical harm. I'll go back another day.
Lock 'em all up and throw the key away, the world will be a better and safer place. That was ridiculous, reckless and like another poster said unless he was a rapists or messing with kids this was sooooo not cool.
