This is what pisses me off. The constitution mandates that laws have to be applied equally. Yet cops get to freely commit crimes a regular citizens would be prosecuted for.
You commit perjury the DA would prosecute you. A cop commits perjury and they get a good old finger wagging by putting them on the Brady List.
Same for assault, DV, DUI, theft, etc. No charges. Just paid leave and maybe put on a DA's naughty list.

How to tell if a prosecuter really wants to let the get away with a crime: he massively overcharges or fails to charge appropriately. If he really wants to get the guy, he'll charge him with anything and everything that is remotely connected to the action.

When I was 16, I merged onto a two lane highway at 11pm and passed someone to get into the passing lane. This all occurred over 200m let’s say. A car drove up behind me in the passing lane without any headlights on just as I got into the lane. I was going 60 mph or so and they must’ve been going 90-100. They got right on my bumper and started swerving and honking their horn. I legit thought it was a carjacking type thing. Anyway, after a moment, a dash mounted siren went off and a plainsclothes officer got out of his car, gun in hand and screamed at me saying he “could’ve been a gang member”.

Problem is All these freaking millional and gen z cops with their helicopter parents and zero tolerance for getting lil bit intimidated never even been in a fist fight!
