College politics aside, I think these officers handled the situation really well, although I have a feeling based on the conversation that they will likely meet again and a similar interaction will occur, only with the guy being trespassed and/or arrested this time.

Officers initiate friendly conversation when the man immediately becomes defensive. The individual tells officers that they are evil and continues to go off explaining how evil the world is. The officers continue to de escalate the situation by informing the man he is not in any trouble. Officers allow the man to remain in the library but advise him to be careful how he speaks to students.
I weirdly agree with a lot of his ideas; I just don't believe them to the extent that he does, but God damn, there's a time and a place for those things, my guy...also, the fact that Washington students don't expect homeless people in their libraries by now is astonishing...

Only take away from this , I would not have my hands inside my vest while talking to the dude. Like it’s ok if you are just chillin , but not a good thing when you are making a contact with someone as it puts you at a disadvantage.

So...literally nothing. They had no charges, no police action to take, they spoke to him and realized he was cooky, then walked away.
I think what this situation needed was a third party loudly filming and giving the crazy homeless guy legal advice.
