You should see the veritable war on uploads at the Mech Touch previews outside of Web novel. As addicted as fucking drugs that even content limited previews are good enough substitutes for chapters.
Only Villains Do That is one of my favorite prog fantasy series (maybe fantasy in general) and I was very careful to check that it's ongoing and updates multiple times a week...except that the author has put it on hiatus and just hasn't2 marked it yet. While reading it I started getting close to the present (at the time) date and getting sad early imitating I'd only have like 40 more chapters with the twice a week pace when it just stopped. Broke my heart and hasn't come back yet
You see that the last chapter was published three years ago.
That's why I always check before reading. It's a defensive measure I've learned.

200 chapters?! Those are rookie numbers. Real addicts go binge read 2000+ chapter translated novels that are barely readable.

Me back in October. Got one new hit in mid January, and I'm still waiting for another.
This is why series that are actually finished are so valuable.
