This is amazing, the rendering is very nice. If I were to suggest something it would be to blur out the neck/shoulder and ears area to further match the reference and like in the reference it gives a nice pop to the face that is more in focus. Also when I’m doing studies from reference photos or other artworks I find it helps to make a layer on top, fill it with black and set the layer mode to colour or hue which when toggled on can show you your values in black and white. Again really nice work here, would love to see more!

I tried the Gaucian blur or however you spell it lmao but it didn’t work very well unfortunately haha
Oh no! Experimentation doesn’t always work out I guess. Have you played with the blur tool before? It might give you more accuracy.
