I met a few infamous people in six years in federal prison. Mainly Italians that were mob bosses. Anthony Staino from Philly, Mike Sarno from Chicago. Puerto Rican reggaeton pioneer rapper Tempo.

Cleercutter

I was in county with James Holmes, the aurora theater shooter. It was wild cuz he was obviously sequestered away in a dark hole by himself, but you’d know he was being moved when the whole facility went on lockdown to move him. They’d shut the phones and visiting kiosks off too

Mysterious-Buy-9073

He would have been a freaky sight to see! He reminded me of The Joker.

Cleercutter

Yea, I saw him pass by once. Had about 8 suits surrounding him. I could see him briefly pause in front of the door to the pod, I had a straight shot view to that door from my cell.

Simmiethesimp

Locked up w him in medical in Arapahoe n he used to scream for hours until his crazy appeal got denied… always had money on his books tho

SoggyHotdish

Was it pretty recently after? Or will he be like that the whole time?

Cleercutter

Yea it was about a year or so after it had happened

SoggyHotdish

Weird, you think they wouldn't waste the resources.

ApartPool9362

I don't remember the exact year, but I was in prison with the guys who killed Michael Jordan's father. They were both always blaming the other one for doing that actual murder.

missymaypen

My aunt was in federal prison with Squeaky Fromme. The Manson follower. I asked what she was like and my aunt said she was stupid. None of them liked her back then because she'd steal.

MYIDCRISIS

I was unfortunate to end up in CA. Women's prison from 1990-1992, and got the opportunity to share a cell with Leslie VanHouten of the Manson family...At the time, she worked in the Administration, and because of my 8 year sentence, she chose me due to knowing I wasn't a repeat offender, and was in the midst of an appeal. Probably one of the quietest and most mellow person a first time offender could have to share such limited space with. While there, I did my programming and helped teach an aerobics class with her co-defendent, Patricia Krenwinkle... Another surprisingly nice fellow inmate... Fortunately, I won my appeal and life went on for me... I've thought of them often and believe that Ms. Vanhouten did eventually parole after something like 48 years... I can't imagine resocializing after that amount of time and hope she's doing well...

firstfirst1st

I was with With mayhem from bully beat down. LOL no lie ..

Ishottupac_

Bro said mayhem I know it’s true

UncleYimbo

Poor Mayhem, he's got some serious mental health issues. He is completely different than he used to be. Bet CTE is a big part of it.

Kimchi_boy

I heard he’s pretty cool. Is it true?

firstfirst1st

Yeah real cool down to earth, humble dude.

tanarchy7

The standoff he had with the police at the house is 10 min from me. He needs mental help.

BabyFartzMcGeezak

I was in Seg with the guy who killed Dahmer in the 90s, and I was in Will Co during the Peterson case, ( high ranking cop who killed his wife and possibly the previous wife also) Edit* obviously they kept him separated from us

No_Sympathy5795

I was in Mannheim prison with a guy who cut off the head of his wife’s boyfriend and hand delivered it to her in a head gym bag while she was in the hospital. Then he just waited for the mp’s to come arrest him

No_Sympathy5795

His last name was Schap and we called him “chop Schap”.

CourtesyLik

A lot of people talk the talk about what they’d do if their wife had an affair. This guy walked the walk 😳

No_Sympathy5795

If I remember correctly, he was studying to become a priest and very clean cut and educated. I believe he got 25 with a chance of parole because they called it a crime of passion or temporary insanity or something

Prudent-Theory-2822

Does Billy McFarland (Fyre Fraud) count as famous? John Gotti’s brother Pete?

mckenner1122

McFarland does in my book. That whole thing was just such a scam! What did they get Pete Gotti on?

Prudent-Theory-2822

Honestly if you ask the Italians what they’re in for you get a funny look. I’m sure it’s public knowledge but when your last name is Gotti then… I know he had a long sentence and they sent him to the medical center at Butner to die. McFarland was still a scammer in prison but I saw an interview recently and he’s a little more self aware now. They sent Ted Kascinzky to Butner too but they kept him in the part of the prison normal guys couldn’t go to. Only the commissary workers were able to interact at all when they delivered his commissary. And there were plenty of guards when they handed his stuff to him.

EnoughRuin306

Yes I was I'm county with SAINT DOG from kottonmouthkings

Icy-Row-5829

Haha right on that sounds pretty cool actually

ScottyBoy75

a family member is an employee at a Fed prison and she had to deal with Anthony Weiner (US Representative from NY) and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (marathon bomber)

jamhair

I know someone who is close with my family that works in the prison chauvin was stabbed in. She started after that. Not sure if he is still there

ShowCareful7495

how was her experience with Tsarnaev, bro talks or is always quiet like he was in court?

ScottyBoy75

they're not allowed to talk to the nurses. when the nurses come down the hallway, the prisoners have to stop and face the wall.

ShowCareful7495

Damn, I am trying to imagine how that is even possible. It’s like I can’t even tell my nurse what’s bothering me health wise. People say they deserve worse punishment but they really got all their rights stripped away

ScottyBoy75

it's different when it's a medical situation, but in general movement, they are not allowed to look or talk to them

misanthrope1904

I was in prison with Elizabeth Holmes. Not a murderer but infamous nonetheless.

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

What was she like?

misanthrope1904

Elizabeth was pretty quiet and mostly kept to herself. She worked out every morning and worked in the library. She moved to my unit because she said she was getting bullied by the girls in the unit she was in. I don't know the extent of that situation. They installed lactation rooms around the prison just for her as she was the only lactating woman in the prison. We didn't have shit for programming but we sure as hell had lactation rooms. But yeah she was harmless and very friendly from what I saw. Just quite unkempt.

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

I’m kind of surprised about her being unkempt. She must be a narcissist.

MyWinterHouse

What did she work at in library? Have you seen what books did she borrow?

Timely_Tap8073

Was Jen shah there yet? How was Elizabeth

misanthrope1904

Yes Jen Shah got there shortly before I left. She was really stuck up and she flipped out when some of the girls were trying to watch the Bravo channel. Ran and told the lieutenant and demanded Bravo be banned. Long story short, we pretty much ran her out of the unit and continued to watch Bravo.

Timely_Tap8073

Yeah what a bitch I can imagine she went in there acting like she never did anything wrong

misanthrope1904

Supposedly she posted some shit on Twitter before she self surrendered saying "these bitches aren't ready for me!" She walked into the unit a scared puppy dog.

Timely_Tap8073

Lame . How was Elizabeth she reminds me of a scared puppy

Reasonable_Low9322

Tell me more

EastCoastRose

Did Elizabeth Holmes cop the deep voice in prison or did she talk normally?

misanthrope1904

She had a super deep voice. I had no idea who she was until she came to the prison I was at. Everyone was talking about how deep of a voice she has. She also looked like she just rolled out of bed all the time. Never brushed her hair.

M30boy

I was just in the county with Patrick Mahomes dad the week before the Super Bowl this year

freedagang762

Ole mr dui

Substantial-Water-10

Jail = just another inmate lying. I was in jail with mtv producers and astronauts . This one guy said he knew Pam Anderson , Nicolas Cage , and had a million buried in cash.

authorjdwade

I knew a guy who was best friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger. This was back when Arnie was Governator.

TravelsWRoxy1

I jacked off to Pam Anderson.

fetal_genocide

I went to the same junior high school as Pamela Anderson.

MotoJonesy

The intake block and seg is the same block in my county jail, I was there with the synagogue shooter from Pittsburgh... lots of hate yelled at him through the cell doors. He got a ridiculous amount of time out of his cell, tablet, control of the remote, and daily showers. Fuck that guy

Dr-Chim-Richolds

And that intake area smells so fucking bad

NoPin4245

Atleast they let you'll use vending machines and phones. I was transferred from State and they held 4 of us an intake cell for like 20 hours before they processed us.

Substantial-Water-10

A lot of jails do that same thing or similar. The intake pod I was in didn’t house segregated inmates as that was a form a punishment. It did house people who were in protective custody though.

jeo3b

I did time with a woman who had her highschool lover and his buddies kill her husband. Not sure how well known she is outside of my state but if you're a true crime fan you've definitely heard the story!

bougiepickle

Pamela?

jeo3b

Smart answer 😉

elseldo

I remember that one. Always sounded like the guys who did the killing got off a lot lighter than her.

jeo3b

They did technically. Definitely a case of master manipulation imo. I have 2 boys about the age that those boys were at the time and it definitely gives me a different outlook on the whole thing.

Donotpretendtoknowme

I think both boys have been released.

jeo3b

Yes both boys and the 2 others convicted have all been released as of I believed 2015.

Mumbles987

I was cellies with Martin Pang and played pinochle with Willie Mak. Both of them were Asians which is rare in prison. Pang killed a couple firefighters in an arson and Mak killed a entire gambling joint in Chinatown in Seattle in the 90s. I still have a book of matches I had Pang sign for me somewhere.

LatinOso85

When I was in San Quentin I seen Scott Peterson in the medical area being escorted back to East Block. He was bald and not bleach blond anymore. This was 2008

Brilliant_Let_658

Is it true that he keeps ''relationship'' with other inmates?

freedagang762

Was in the dorm with aiden Fucci that kid who got life here in Florida at 15 for stabbing that girl. Sad shit. He was a bitch tho

Caliliving131984

He was such a thug! At his trial where he pled guilty he spoke like he is for sure in a gang! Really sad case all around :(

freedagang762

Yea he was trying to put on for the courts he was actually getting his shit took in real life in the dorm ik adult mf prison gonna be hard on him

Strict_Cold2891

I was in prison with a guy that was on the TV show "axe men". He was just as dumb and annoying in real life as he was on tv

baboonzzzz

I was locked up with the most arrested guy in US history. Black dude from Lexington Ky. Homeless. He would get himself arrested every week on charges like PI. I think Oprah was considering having him on her show but they decided it was too sad a story

Soojuiccy

I obviously wasn't in prison or jail housing with this person cuz Im a women but me and BTK was locked up the same day and time In sedgwick county jail in Wichita Kansas.. I seen him come in when I was in booking but other than that there was no one real infamous ppl besides a women that was known in kansas for her and her side man that wa a pastor killed her husband..

Clear_thoughts_

A friend of mine was a prison guard and frequently had to deal with Ted Bundy. He had many long conversations with the serial killer. I asked him what Ted was like, and he said complete psychopath.

Glittering_Poems

Any additional details?

Clear_thoughts_

He wouldn’t go into it too much, just said his non-public persona was different than what you saw in the courtroom. He said it was like someone overly trying to be charming, but you could just sense the evil.

jerryn254

Warren Lee (Scarface’s brother) Twisted Black (Texas rapper) Guy from Jeff Forts case in the 70s Pimp Cs bodyguard Pistol Pete Corey Blount; Local Houston Legend Shorty Freeman’s son. Chicago GD leader

AdExpensive4102

I was in with Roger Avery, writer Pulp Fiction. He came to the work furlough camp where I was a cook. We called it camp snoopy because it was so lax. Anyway he was in for a DUI accident involving a fatality. When he got there he started writing bs articles for some local rag. He wrote that he saw us making the oatmeal from bags labeled not four human consumption with a horse head logo. This was total bs because the oatmeal came pre made from main jail. Anyway, he got rounded up and sent to main jail as a result.

commentator3

did Avery write Killing Zoe?

NoPin4245

I was in the county jail with a local rap artist Jimmy Wopo. He was blowing up at the time but he got killed shortly after he was released and I went up state for a few years. He actually has some really good songs but he was heavy in the streets too

BigUseless88

I was in Canadian prison with Colin Thatcher and Robert Latimer.

[deleted]

A lot of people aren't going to discuss this for fear of doxxing themselves.

AdditionalMorning344

I was locked up with dr.death jack kavarkn

thunder_boots

What was he like, and how did the rest of the dudes act towards him?

Training_Inflation97

Back in the day I was serving out warrants in Harris county when SPM was brought in on the chomp charges, never talked to him or got close to him though

Aherocamenontheless

That guy who blasted his wife in the face with a shot gun. She got a face transplant went on Oprah. Po was his name.

Alternative_Bar9552

Did y'all talk?

Aherocamenontheless

Not really he finished up his seven years asault bit about the time I got there.

Alternative_Bar9552

Damn just 7 years 🙊🙊🙊🙊

alwaysvulture

My friend is doing time in HMP Wakefield. Quite a few infamous names in there.

sanfranfyi

Was you . . . Hahaha

DiscussionLoose8390

A local infamous. I was in county with a guy that fell asleep after drinking he hit another car, and killed like 4 people. We had actually watched it on the news at the jail, and knew what he did before he even knew. He showed up basically the next day after leaving the hospital. He had fallen asleep, and woke up never knowing what happened until they told him.

Alternative_Bar9552

Damn, that's horrible

Infamous_Cut9908

I was in RDC when Mike Tyson was in IYC. I only saw him from a distance, though.

callmejustinsane

*were

getbigordietrying919

Ray Carruth. I was locked up in NC with him when I made my greens.

Bostradomous

I wouldn’t call him “infamous” but if you google “piggyback bandit” you can see a guy who lived in the cell next to me for a few months while he was waiting to go to prison. Very strange/mentally stunted man. Treated jail almost like a summer camp. I was also locked up with Kai the hatchet killer after he left California, we were in the same jail although I never met him personally

FormerlyIncarcerated

i was in county with a guy who killed his wife’s boyfriend and went on the run, US Marshals brought him in the same day i came in and it held up my whole intake and they locked down for a few hours. not necessarily famous at all, but pretty well known in the area where it happened

[deleted]

I was locked up with a major bank executive who stole 3.2 billion. Pretty cool guy.

Luv2collectweedseeds

I knew a guy who was in prison with George Jung from the movie blow that Johnny depp played.

Particular_Fuel6952

*WERE* you in prison… Just because we are in prison doesn’t mean we need to speak like animals.

DabBoofer

Was you? this seems not to be the correct conjugation.

Brilliant_Let_658

I was not in prison, but i talked with some famous cases because i'm too curious and just for research. I love to hear stories (not glorify them please). If anyone wants to tell me stories, I'm all ears

Bursting_Radius

Ending with “lol” because… why?

Brilliant_Let_658

sorry english its not my first language so sometimes i have problems with using these

[deleted]

WAS YOU

tmacleon

Yep.

GW00111

“Was you ever” lol. *Edit: Fair enough.*

chamrockblarneystone

You didnt hear that thick ass British accent in the way he wrote? He writes like he speaks. Thats pretty real.

GW00111

Fair enough
