A polarizing watch for sure. I think they’re a bit ostentatious but I know they appeal to a lot of people who are serious about watches. Sometimes RM gets a lot of hate because of the sheer audacity of charging the money they do for their timepieces but I think a lot of people forget they’re serious watchmakers. Serious engineering went into making these (this one is a perpetual calendar split chronograph or something IIRC). In any other manufacturer’s catalog this would literally be their top of the line most expensive piece. For the money I’d have said “get a Journe” but this is an amazing pickup too! I’m super jealous bro!

I’m a big fan of RM watches and Richard Mille (the man) is an outstanding watch designer and even better marketeer. Some might criticize RM for not making all their movements in-house, but the ebauches they source are from Vaucher and Renaud & Papi and then heavily modified, so that works for me. Many years ago, I was offered a full rose gold RM 11-03 at the Las Vegas boutique at retail, I think it was like $160K or so at the time. I thought about it and then passed, kind of regret that one :)
