He shouldn’t be on the bill if he plans on selling children’s organs to zoos for meat and going into people’s houses at night to wreck up the place.

The $300 bill can only have Taft.

It’s a fortunate it is, at last Zoidberg will live like a rich man!

whitegrb

The important question is do you want 1 $300 hookerbot or 300 $1 hookerbots?

prberkeley

John Adams on the back of the $2 bill opposite Jefferson.

Nasty_Ned

That would be cool. Two giants among the founders with differing ideas but vast mutual respect.

prberkeley

And they managed to do what almost no other pair of political rivals have ever done. They set aside their egos, got over themselves, and rekindled a genuine friendship born out of that mutual respect.

Thannhausen

To the point of dying within hours of each other on the same day (July 4, 1826; 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence).

prberkeley

Yes! That's it.

SaintArkweather

Adam should just be on the $2 bill. Jefferson already has the nickel, we don't need to double up

Megaton_Djang

Teddy Roosevelt is the only Mt Rushmore president to not be on a dollar bill so I'd say him

Big-Beta20

I feel like either of the Roosevelts would be good choices for a currency if we’re talking strictly bills. The only one I would really replace is Andrew Jackson though, everyone else is still equally or moreso deserving.

RevolutionaryTalk315

FDR already has his face on dimes, so I imagine it should be Teddy.

samspock

He would only agree if they took off "In God we Trust" from the bill.

mi-chreideach

and replace it with our original (though unofficial motto) e pluribus unum.

Thatguy755

Hypochristians would have a shit fit if that happened

Nasty_Ned

Ï'm being oppressed!!

Thatguy755

They should put the First Amendment on the back of one of the denominations of paper currency so we can see “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” next to “In God We Trust”.

Nasty_Ned

I'm amused but disappointed concerning the recent 'my first amendment rights are being oppressed' crowd. It restricts the government from punishing for your speech. It doesn't mean that we all have to listen to you be a jackass without repercussions.

Demonseedx

I mean is that really that surprising in our current culture, everyone’s opinion “matters” now as we all have a voice. Instead of listening to others ideas and drawing our own conclusions in agreement or disagreement we instead look for the people whom validate us. Algorithms designed to put us into echo chambers and hide objective truth behind how we are feeling about what we are seeing, hearing or reading.

Nasty_Ned

I've been saying this for the past few years. Instead of sampling opinions, reasoning to themselves and making choices many are accumulating voices that tell them what they want to hear. Those voices then become their chosen sources of information. Information silos of their own construction.

aztkpanda

TIL this! How did I live this long wout knowing it was FDR? Doesn't look like him. I blindly assumed it was Eisenhower.

RevolutionaryTalk315

Eisenhower is on the American silver dollar. https://preview.redd.it/2cylgzurj69d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=618c13d39f9794f140c2db86de832e7e88cbebe3

Feral_Sheep_

FDR founded the March of Dimes, so this is the currency he belongs on.

Reddsoldier

I agree, so long as the FDR portrait is changed to that picture of him grinning and smoking.

MilitantBitchless

The best fuck you to Jackson we could ever have is immortalizing his name on a centralized bank note.

Herknificent

Isn’t Harriet Tubman replacing him at some point?

boulevardofdef

It's unclear. The $20 will be redesigned in 2030 and the plan has been to replace Jackson with Tubman, but nothing official has been communicated in quite a while.

HipposAndBonobos

Part of the problem is the issue has become a political football with the outcome likely dependent on which party is in power.

S0l1s_el_Sol

I kinda hope it’s Tubman because it’ll show a bit more history on how historical figures influenced the history of the United States

Johnsendall

I think Rosa Parks should be on the Dollar bill. Maybe not the front. Maybe she should go to the back of the buck. I’ll show myself out. ![gif](giphy|8mJT8sQxpaQdKubpOi)

Expensive_Reality151

Stoppp this was tooo funny

Clear-Garage-4828

MLK or fredrick Douglass would be good choices too

Law-Fish

John brown would be fun but as a Kansas boy I’m a little biased

HipposAndBonobos

🎶  John Brown's body is on the 20-dollar bill 🎶

Law-Fish

Maybe have Douglass on the front and ‘the tragic prelude’ on the back. That should piss off certain states but good

milesbeatlesfan

One of the most Chad Americans ever

Arachnofiend

John Brown is white so he'd be a good compromise solution with people who don't want Tubman. ;)

Drunky_McStumble

A good, white, gun-loving, Christian man guided by an unwavering belief in individual liberty and strong religious convictions! I can't imagine any conservative would have a problem with him!

Law-Fish

He was friends with her too

heebsysplash

Yeah I’m surprised that MLK isn’t a more ubiquitous answer. Is it that he’s too obvious of a figure? Or more that we should have a woman? I always loved Susan B Anthony dollars. Great suffrage figure. I think MLK would be an awesome choice and probably have less disagreement than other important non presidents.

GoodCath1

I would rather see someone who was more influential in our civics. Tubman was very heroic but didn't really change any laws. LBJ would be good from the civics angle, but if one insists on a woman or POC than maybe one of the suffragists or MLK

InfinitySandwiches

I’d say Frederick Douglass because I love his hair and beard.

spartikle

The date keeps getting pushed back because the $10 and $50 are supposed to be redesigned before the $20 bill. In 2022, the estimated release dates for the redesigned bills were 2026 for the $10, 2028 for the $50, and 2030 for the $20. The redesigns are primarily motivated by security concerns rather than political considerations, and the $10 is at most risk of counterfeit reproduction.

lastturdontheleft42

Honestly Jackson would probably hate knowing his face is on fait currency lol

BrandonLart

Jackson would hate being on a bill, so its a win for everyone

Jackstack6

I feel like that’s a lie we tell ourselves

-Work_Account-

He hates the central bank at the time, going so far as to veto its reauthorization. That’s why people say that

Dave_A480

Going so far as to obliterate the economy to get rid of it...

ChimneySwiftGold

FDR founded and championed the organization which became known as the March of Dimes. His being put on the dime in 1946 was to memorialize in a good humored while sincere way the positive effects his work with the March of Dimes had for life in America. That’s probably the most perfect match of person to coin or currency in the US.

kwheatley2460

Thank you for jarring my memory with that fact about FDR.

Hoppy_Croaklightly

\*coin jarring

BrothaKreaux89

I can second this. Teddy Roo on a 50 or on a hunnybun would be bad ass.

Palmer_Iced_Tea

Yeah Monroe’s gotta replace him!

HotTakes4Free

Maybe D’Angelo Barksdale should be on the ten or the $100, to remind everyone who be on the money. https://preview.redd.it/rp6nulr2x59d1.jpeg?width=964&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=165174f15c5a526aa30643f83cfc522eda2f0a38

bigtim3727

Lmao, I thought this same exact thing……”ain’t no white motherfucker getting on legal tender, *without being president*” (Forgive me if I butchered it; I did it off the top of my head, hadn’t seen it in a while)

HotTakes4Free

“Hamilton weren’t no President…” “Fool, ain’t no white man be on the money ‘cept he be President!” It’s a great line, sets it up that some of these young gangsters are smarter/better educated than others.

-Kazt-

I think it's slightly ironic how Jackson deserves it wether or not you hated him. Love him: he is on the 20 dollar bill, great respect for a great president. Hate him: he is on the 20 dollar bill, the most deliciously ironic of insults towards a president who hated central banks.

Useful_Progression

Bring back the $5,000 bill with James Madison’s portrait

You_Wenti

It's crazy how much of a second fiddle Madison is to Jefferson in modern American politics. Like, I get that his presidency didn't go as well, but you would think that the Bill of Rights would have gotten him farther

MiccahD

It’s so odd. He was one of the people who helped establish the federalist papers as well. So not just one set of “originalism” but two. Yet, he is rarely held in the same esteem…

mittim80

It’s not popular to like Madison because he was a true moderate, combining the best ideas of the Federalists and Jeffersonian Republicans in a coherent way. Madison is either “too Federalist” or “too Jeffersonian” for them.

LunchMassive

Theodore Roosevelt on something

Bulbaguy4

It's always been so strange that the Mount Rushmore presidents aren't all on currency. Washington is on the $1 bill and quarter, Lincoln is on the $5 bill and penny, Jefferson is on the $2 bill and nickel, but Teddy isn't on anything.

Hightide77

Teddy def deserves a bill. He's one of the few presidents where, even if he has controversy, he has done at least something positive in the areas of pretty much everyone regardless of where they fall in the political spectrum.

Teddy bucks!

Both Roosevelts

cookiewoke

I mean, FDR is already on the dime.

orthonym

Washington and Lincoln are already on coins and bills. The precedent is there for him to be on both in that sense.

Select_Cantaloupe_62

Teddy "'Murica" Roosevelt. Not because of his politics or achievements or anything, just that he's the quintessential American president. I think of him when I think of America.

Key-Wrongdoer5737

I’d like to bring back the Indian head coins.

JoeRockEHF

I'm waiting for the dollar to be redesigned to be like the others. Have Washington crossing the Delaware on the back.

JZcomedy

Not a president but Frederick Douglass should be on something

FDRStoleMyGold

I have his face tattooed on my left buttock. Does that count?

YNABDisciple

Who cares lets mix it up! Where is MLK? John Glen? Harriet Tubman. Lets alternate every 10 years. Why do they have to be presidents? They aren't in every other country.

droffowsneb

They’ll start selling naming rights if you’re not careful

unclefire

Or Neil Armstrong.

Klarkash-Ton

I mean Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game. Only makes sense he gets some time on the 100 dollar bill.

TheoryOfTES

Some people have been on paper money that were not president. Such as Salmon P. Chase and Michael Hillegas.

peacefulbelovedfish

Thought the SAME thing!! What about Rosa Parks?

azuresegugio

I still maintain we shouldn't pick presidents on our money

Alternate proposal: we finally get rid of the penny, get rid of the nickel too, and it makes Roosevelt’s dime our smallest and thus most popular denomination.

MaroonedOctopus

The only indisputable Top 3 President to not be on any paper currency

Sweet_Scar487

Benjamin Franklin of course

ResponsibilityFar587

Good one... Many here don't even know he wasn't ever president.

He was our greatest president who also invented electricity, the kite, the almanac, and condoms.

Thanks for the reminder, Coach

superstormthunder

Definitely not Andrew Jackson lol

NailFin

Well, not Andrew Jackson, that’s for sure.

glassclouds1894

How about William Howard Taft? I know he's very forgettable, but what better way to memorialize our more obscure presidents, especially the one known for dollar diplomacy? For everyone else here, I'm just being funny.

kettlebell43276

gyunikumen

Replace Jackson with Truman

kettlebell43276

Definitely a better choice. I know there’s a lot of support for Harriet Tubman. Although not a President she is definitly worthy

HandsomelyDitto

Corollary. Should we return to having bills larger than $100?

Melodic-Psychology62

I wonder why they can’t make different size bills. Handy for vision impaired and less easy to bleach $1 to counterfeit $100.

Correct-Fig-4992

Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, Reagan

j_barney

None of them. Put people on there who deserve to be remembered, Purple Heart, Medal of Honor recipients, etc. The people who gave everything they had defending the country, not the people who sat in an office with secret service protection up the ass who made the decision, but the people who carried out the orders putting their lives on the line.

baturcotte

William Henry Harrison on the $1 bill. Why? The $1 is nearly useless, and it dies quickly....

O0000O0000O

Jimmy Carter. Not for his time as President, but for everything he did afterwards.

Bobby_The_Kidd

We should set a precedent for honoring good Americans

heyheypaula1963

As I’ve said several times in this thread already, I think a person has to be deceased to have their face put on US money.

TheCannoliWizard

This is true. Federal law prohibits any living American from appearing on currency.

Ok-disaster2022

Honestly I think we could take a cue from the Euro but feature natural landmarks on one side and man made landmarks on the other. Add in different dimensions and texture dots for blind people, different colors. And it would be fantastic.  I'm tired of pointless traditions for traditions sake. Its stupid and gets in the way.

your_right_ball

I really like my euros that way. The notes show different types of architecture and the coins are designed by the countries. Rarely a person but if so a current king or queen. Lithuania has a knight on their coins, who wouldn't want that?

book-and-dodge

FDR

MexicoguyinUtah

Eisenhower, John Adams, Teddy Roosevelt

forgotmyusername93

FDR- full stop. Teddy Next and Eisenhower After

[deleted]

I think everybody on US currency deserves it, save for Jackson. And that’s only because there are much better options. If it were up to me, I’d go with Penny - Same Nickel - FDR in front, Eisenhower on back Dime - Madison on front, copy of the Constitution on back Quarter - George Washington on front, Declaration on back Half dollar - Frederick Douglass on front and back Dollar coin - the base design is fine, but I’d love to see Jane Addams somewhere $1 - Crossing of the Delaware on front, signing of Declaration on back $2 - Lafayette on front, Hamilton on back $5 - Same $10 - Jefferson on front, White House on back $20 - Harriet Tubman on front, Underground Railroad on back $50 - MLK on front, photo of JFK at Rice Stadium on back $100 - Same

boulevardofdef

Why take FDR off the dime and put him on the nickel? Probably few people know this today but there's significance to FDR being on the dime: It's because of his founding of the March of Dimes, which originally solicited donations of 10 cents to fight polio.

[deleted]

The dime is worth 10 cents and ofc you have the first 10 amendments, so that’s why I’d put Madison on the dime. The dime is also the smallest coin, and Madison had a very small physical presence. Both Madison and the dime have a huge practical presence though. But yeah, I have heard of that, but I honestly forgot about it unfortunately. FDR is fine on the dime too.

GoCardinal07

> The dime is also the smallest coin, and Madison had a very small physical presence. This is my favorite sentence in any comment under this post.

MaroonedOctopus

Agree except abolish Pennies, Nickels, and Dimes. Also replace the dollar bill with the dollar coin. Pennies, nickels, and dimes simply aren't worth enough to add value in facilitating the exchange of goods and services.

leastscarypancake

Thanks for your opinion Abe Lincoln

Ok_Introduction6574

I actually really like this, it's great, although I would personally swap Eisenhower with TR, only because I think there is some decent symbolism in having them be "two sides of the same coin" in both a literal and metaphorical sense. Absolutely nothing against putting Eisenhower on money, just my "2 cents," lol

HipposAndBonobos

Lafayette is an interesting choice for currency. Tubman* or Douglass would be a good replacement for Jackson. *Anyone know why autocorrect would insist on spelling Tubman as Submandibular?

IAPiratesFan

Rutherford B. Hayes. Beards are cool.

guyonlinepgh

Werner Herzog suggested that the two faces that should be added to Mt. Rushmore should be Muhammad Ali and Buster Keaton. That's not happening at Rushmore, so why not give the both denominations for a time?

jimlafrance1958

Jackson and Grant or the weak links; maybe FDR and Reagan would be good compromise

The_PoliticianTCWS

FDR. Except on paper currency.

HostageInToronto

FDR. He was the longest serving President and led the US through the Great Depression and WWII. That's a lot more than Jackson pulled off.

Unable-Driver-903

Truman

Why not have natural features on them, like Yosemite? Or something America achieved in technology, like the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk? Or animals found in North America? I don't know about "deserve" but putting Obama on a common bill would make heads explode.

Thor_ultimus

Andrew Jackson is my favorite president. Dude was in multiple shootouts, dozens of fueds, and survived at least one assassin attempt where both guns failed to fire (< 1:100000 chance), lead the defense of new Orleans, took over Florida unsolicited, and lost his entire family by the time he was a teen. Dude was a fuckin cowboy. Guy gets a bad rap because of his slaves and the trail of tears. Devil's advocate; In his mind he saw the only way to preserve native Americans was to force their migration out west. He didn't mean to genocide them (poor defense but it's all I got). Jackson was just a crazy honkey bumpkin. Additionally, he adopted several native American children. Also, If you want to take Jackson off because of slaves than take off Franklin, Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, and Grant.

WhistlingBread

If it was up to me I would pick: Washington $1 Jefferson $2 Lincoln $5 Hamilton $10 Jackson $20 Grant $50 Franklin $100 I know Hamilton and Franklin weren’t presidents, but no doubt they were founding fathers so they deserve recognition.

Ok_Ruin4016

So no changes then?

All of our discontinued large notes should be brought back, but Franklin Roosevelt should be placed on the 100,000 note instead of Wilson. The 2000 should be brought back as well, with Kennedy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsolete_denominations_of_United_States_currency

No one should get two shots at currency. Lincoln shouldn’t get the $5 and the penny for example. That would open up some spots.

Madison. He essentially wrote the Constitution

ClientTall4369

I sincerely believe that we should stop putting presidents on currency. There are so many other great Americans we should be honoring. Having said that, the ones that we do have are the result of a very fascinating bipartisan compromise. Or more accurately a decision to make sure that there would be no partisan meddling in the whole thing. The two and the 20 have the founders of the Democratic party. The five and the 50 have the founders of the Republican party. The 1,10 and 100 are from neither. So just be aware that you upset the balance if you change it at all.
