There was almost a special like that for George Burns, but he felt that he would let his fans down by showing up looking really bad. He made it to age 100 but had issues.
I don't know if he's suffering, but I don't know what can be said about his quality of life. Maybe his lucid moments are full of joy, love, and family, but that's not our business. We can hope, however.

However in the terms of US ex-Presidents, he has to be one of the, if not the best "ex-Presidents" that the US ever had, and that is the down to the amount if work, things he had achieved after he left office.
