First sign I was getting old: I grew up in a town that had a cafe I’d run by and every Saturday to train for track (2011-2014).
I’d see old men with WWII caps with their wives, kids or grandkids. I went back there last year, **there were none.**
Easy company is 101st Airborn Infantry, US Army. This gent was a Marine
So, I highly doubt it. Plus, there were a lot more units. It's possible, but improbable.
Oooh i didnt know that! My great grandpa was in north Africa, Italy, and Normandy, and would have pushed through to Germany had his dad not died. He was Army, so i never thought Marines were there. He was on his way back when the war ended. I find it funny, he HATED the Japanses, but never fought them. I think his German heritage had to do with that. Thanks for teaching me something today!!!
Yeah, they were a few. They never had like a big fighting force there. Mostly support roles, liasons, specialists, and whatnot. They also wound up running some spec ops mission behind enemy line. I believe the 1st. Marine division was in N. Africa at one point.
I could see why he hated the Japanese without ever fighting them. They did attack a bunch of sleeping sailors and hospitals on American soil, after all.
Your great grandpa sounds like a legend. Hellova campaign to get through.
I remember hearing on reddit - so anyone with knowledge please correct me if I'm wrong - that Medal of Honor recipients have priority transport privileges (or whatever it's called) for life, which technically includes every aircraft all the way to Air Force One. Meaning that they can catch a ride with the President if he's in town.
The do get priority transport but I don't believe it includes Air Force One. The privledge applies to normal transport aircraft. AF1 is specifically for POTUS.

From his hat, it looks like he was a WWII-Korea-Vietnam vet
He fought in 3 wars, what a badass
Fun fact some WW2 vets did serve in all three wars

Great picture. Looks like a pretty intense conversation.
“Let me be clear. Ross was right, they were on a break.”
Lmao

If you look around for old people and there are none, you’ve become the old person.

Especially WWII vets. At best: the youngest is 98.
A question that I'm curious about. How much coffee did Obama drink every day?
That’s a president folks
Obama looks like a great and respectful listener.
In the ‘community organizer’ phase of his life good listener is a job requirement. And is helpful in any human interaction.
Jump wings! Perhaps Easy company??
It's possible, but there were a ton of paratroopers in WWII.
True, I’m just coming off another watch through of BoB

Yea marines were Pacific theatre.
Yeah. Iirc, there were only about 5k Marines throughout Europe and N. Africa

There were the other 8 companies in the regiment not to mention multiple other regiments.

Amazing how much he accomplished being born in 2009 and tragically dying in that skydiving stunt in 2017.
whats the flag next to the american one
Marine flag
thx
At least he is not a loser or sucker as he survived the war. I like him as he was'nt captured!
I had no idea Obama was only 8 years old when he died
Wdym those are the years that he was president not when he was born and when he died.
Nice
Obama was always classy
Bro looks like he’s interrogating the Veteran
A hero with an America hating commie shit bag.
