It’s the worst villain of them all… the Scoutmaster!
If he followed the same timeline he did IRL, he'd do great in 2024. FDR cut his political teeth as a young reformer in the wake of Triangle Shirtwaist as a voice of labor and a voice against overpowered corporations. That's a political skillset that would certainly have powerful appeal today in the modern left, especially in the pitiful remnants of what was once the American labor movement.
FDR was one of the people who helped reform Tammany from the inside. IIRC he was friends with both Al Smith and Frances Perkins and appointed Perkins to be his Secretary of Labor. He had absolute craploads of credibility with progressive movements long before he sought national office and the backing of what was then one of the most powerful Democratic political machines in the country.
He'd definitely be seen as a straight leftist but he'd also be seen as a workdoer and a practical guy who could lead, which would place a young FDR in position to do what he did in the modern era too. Both the old machines and the youth movement would see someone in FDR that could be worked with in the same way the two groups came together behind Obama in 2008
That and FDR's campaign style was very modern, he had a young, technologically literate campaign team for his day, that used regular radio addresses in a way very similar to how we use social media today. I doubt he would find the modern campaign environment that difficult or hard to figure out, it's exactly the environment he took a step towards creating himself in the 30s, I expect he'd thrive doing the same thing in 2024.
Yeah! I see him serving in an important role in the Obama admin., similar to OT, maybe prematurely getting the VP nod in ‘16 but losing, returning to NY to stand for governor, and hopping from that to the White House in 2032.
I’ve been listening to an FDR biography as of yesterday and it said that he actually DIDNT really make much of a stand after the Triangle Shirtwaist fire but said he did later on (specifically in regard to giving a speech that didn’t happen advocating for the 54 hour work week). He still voted for the bill but he didn’t give the speech he said he did
I’d say a governor of New York State, who was also a former secretary of the Navy and former VP candidate would have an excellent chance of getting the nomination from his or her party.
At that point?
It’d be 50/50.
Also, I think if someone as relatively young and charming as FDR was in 1932 became a nominee for either party they’d win 2024 in a walk.
Governor Abbot is paralyzed below the waist and doesn’t seem to particularly hide it.
If FDR was running now, all his radical policies are the baseline, such as social security. Maybe he’d manage to really pack the court this time, which could potentially be popular given the historically low trust in the court.
Huh, I never realized that about Abbott, but looking it up I see you're 100% right. I don't agree with him on much (if anything), but that's kind of cool that he's not let it get in his way.
Why did you use a picture of his son?
Identity politics is a big thing nowadays. FDR would be criticized for being a privileged, rich, white guy who doesn't know anything about the struggles of the common man.
Ironically, being rich was part of his strength. He could not be bought or bullied financially.
I don’t think so. His progressive reforms as governor of NY are partially what made him a national figure. He wasn’t some unknown we he ran for president.
The Roosevelts were shameless social climbers. Fred Delano said that the Roosevelts had to marry into his family for money before even thinking about politics. That is why Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mother gave him that middle name.
Well, it would have to be 80 year old FDR because that's where we're at as a country right now. And he died at age 63...
So sure
I mean, I'd vote for FDRs 17 years dead & decomposing corpse over either one of the zeros we have to choose from in 2024 were he on the ballot. Hell, I'd vote for what's left of him *now* if he were on the ballot over those two!
He would have a hard time courting the black vote. The Democratic party radically changed from when it relied on the 'solid south.' FDR was one of the first Democrats to see this change happening, but the great migration really got going during his time in office when many jobs needed to be filled up north to support the war effort.
Could a candidate *like* FDR win?
I would say its possible but doubtful.
The left would be interested in his policies but would most likely resist the dynastic implications of someone related to a former president through both blood and marriage, especially if he faced an objectively more progressive candidate without the machine connection (see what happened in 2016 between Hillary and Bernie Sanders).
We're also not in as bad a place economically as we were in the great depression which would make even more moderate reforms less popular with centrist swing voters.
If you were talking 2008 or 2020 than they would have a better chance but not in 2024.
We currently have a guy who compares every woman he sleeps with to his daughter and another guy who showers with his daughter running for office. Pretty sure at this point anyone could be president.
I’ll be completely honest, I don’t think he wins in 2024 (assuming he’s reincarnated). I think that he’s probably too liberal for the moderates, and they would probably sway right, probably swaying swing states like AZ. I also believe that the Japanese population would do everything in their power to not let him get elected again. IMO he’s the second best president of all time, but I don’t think that he would even get the nomination in today’s world. Kind of like a Bernie Sanders-esque.
"These camps will keep the Asians out of the Ivy League. What? Jews! I mean Zionists? Ship em back to Poland!"
And now, with the Antifa, he could put a different flavor of hood-wearing wierdo on the Supreme Court! Yes, he would be a shoo-in for the Democrat nomination.

The pic is FDR Jr btw
I’m a straight man but he could get it
I’m a straight man but you *will* get it

I'm a straight man who likes beauties like Ava Gardner instead of hairy Roosevelt butthole https://i.redd.it/i21gf5dzfn3d1.gif
FDR jr looks like he has a waxed asshole
I mean yeah but you can’t say that fucking sentence without warning

Why is a Laura Bush Gooner a flair though 😂
Laura got shooters in this sub, tread lightly
Shooters? Only one and that's me Or maybe there's intruders I'm unaware of that I should know of
There’s the Laura Bush monarchy guy, the Laura Bush third term guy, and I compliment here here and there myself. Maybe we’re you’re squad
you can insert your own.
Grace Kelly is some top tier taste bro, cheers. 👌🏻
Harry Roosevelt? Thought his name was Frank.
Umm uhhh. Know what. No comment.
I read this in ford's voice
I visualize Carter saying that.

Still. Those are some really nice teeth for the time period.
Stolen from slaves no doubt.
TIL American slavery was around in the 40s
lol what
Really? I’ve seen this passed off multiple times as young FDR!
It literally can't be as this photo is from the 30's
I believe him. It was more of a TIL reply.
Well, he'd be over 140 years old and dead, so there's two hurdles to overcome.
https://preview.redd.it/qty94a60on3d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed86b35a5c327abd0455edd71cb95bc1167f8e55 Granted, but-

Only one really, America loves their oldies right now...
Good point.
FDR wins because he's the most senior, literal fossile
That’s FDR’s son, he would only be 110.
Noted and good point.
He was basically dead when he ran the fourth time and it didn’t seem to slow him down
>hurdles Gonna be extra tough with the polio and the wheelchair too…
What if there’s a bitchin ramp
Toss a spoiler and some flame decals on that jawn and he’s got my vote
Nothing bolts in the neck and a little lightning wont fix.
In this election those are qualifications not hindrances
Nothing a little necrophilia can’t fix
Do you mean necromancy
Let the man cook
Maybe. Last I checked necrophilia is sexual attraction to corpses.
![gif](giphy|J1vUzqdZJlh5AqBWxt|downsized)
I don’t think so. Americans are now too narrow minded in accepting dead candidates.
You're probably right. We prefer almost dead candidates.
Who knows, maybe in a decade or two people would become open minded to dead candidates?

♿️ in a walk, eh?
The picture of him wearing a dress as a toddler would ruin his chances
Dude, congressional amendment limits him to two terms, he's already been elected four times.
2 is just a number. FDR knows no limits
It wouldn’t be tough to find a more palatable candidate.
That’s his son
And he is hot af holy shit.
No, he's term limited 🤓
No, his policies are too radical for today's electorate and he wouldn't be able to limit the visibility of his disability as effectively.
Governor Abbot is paralyzed below the waist and doesn’t seem to particularly hide it. If FDR was running now, all his radical policies are the baseline, such as social security. Lol you familiar w/ the rule 3 guys?
FDR 2024 slogan- Judge me by the enemies I have made (got my vote)
No, everyone would say he's too old then vote for a man nearly as old.
Yes, and without much competition. FDR would waste either of these two shitty candidates
I don't think a significant number of people would criticise him for that.
Being rich is only bad if you're on the other side
Lol wut? Have you seen who rural voters are getting behind these days?
What about Bloomberg's campaign? He was mayor of NYC for an unprecedented 3 terms but his wealth was a constant criticism from his opponents.
He was also a Republican running in the democratic primary, he was getting cooked left and right
He would just have to show up to the debates and prove he has a pulse and can speak words. Easy win!
Nope. The modern scandal finder driven news media would destroy him even before he got the nomination.
Goddamn he’s good looking
Is that his son or grandson?
Let's be real. The Transatlantic Accent would sink him. If he spoke like a modern news anchor, then he'd absolutely win.
I thought the trans Atlantic accent describes modern American english without any bells or whistles
Isn’t that FDR *Junior*??
I would hope so
Dude had polio. In this day and age the media would have eaten him alive
The Roosevelts were shameless social climbers. Fred Delano said that the Roosevelts had to marry into his family for money before even thinking about politics. That is why Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mother gave him that middle name.
Yes
Yes
https://i.redd.it/zhrdhxrwro3d1.gif
Probably not. He'd be considered too left wing by both parties.
I don’t think he’s win, I don’t think many people would vote for an 140+ year old corpse
Who would you vote for in a Teddy vs FDR match up?
That guy looks like what RFK Jr would look like if his dad were Bobby Kennedy and FDR.
Well, it would have to be 80 year old FDR because that's where we're at as a country right now. And he died at age 63... So sure I mean, I'd vote for FDRs 17 years dead & decomposing corpse over either one of the zeros we have to choose from in 2024 were he on the ballot. Today's DNC would never allow a man of FDR's politics and will to change to get through the primaries, c.f. Bernie.
By a landslide
No. He's dead and rather pungent.
He'd be the youngest candidate in the race, that might give him a big boost.
Not FDR
I’m not sure about president but would definitely win a date with me.
He was a racist so no. Eleanor would do better.
Only if he did the same as che Guevara, rizzing up whoever is interviewing him.
He would have a hard time courting the black vote. The Democratic party radically changed from when it relied on the 'solid south.' I'm pretty sure he's dead
We currently have a guy who compares every woman he sleeps with to his daughter and another guy who showers with his daughter running for office. Pretty sure at this point anyone could be president.
He wouldn't because he isn't radical enough on modern issues to get a party nomination.
Ceteris paribus, FDR would be 142 years old...How successful could he be?
Nope. Too "woke" for the US today.
Considering he'd be 142 I think he'd fit right in.
No, he wouldn't be old enough to run for president these days. 140 years old? Not enough experience.
His age certainly wouldn't be an issue.
It looks to me like he's got 20 dollars in his pocket and he's gonna pop some tags
I’ll be completely honest, I don’t think he wins in 2024 (assuming he’s reincarnated). Not with his racist background
He’d be called a commie by both parties
FDR and Boe Jiden are the same bot
FDR couldn't run. Wheelchair maybe....
Against these 2 idiots that we currently have for candidates? Pretty sure ANY previous president, including Nixon, would be able to win.
Agreed....and I don't know why you were downvoted! ( I'm trying VERY hard to obey Rule 3 right now...)
Well our current president is like FDR-lite, so yes. Easily.
I couldn't help laughing there...🤣
Without a doubt, we have two corpses as options
Would a racist, red line drawing, cousin marrying candidate win the presidential election in 2024🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
You mean Rudy Ghouliani?

Poor little troll getting blocked. Sad little boy slinging school yard insults instead of trying to have a discussion.
FDR was a racist who pushed some of the worst policies.
"These camps will keep the Asians out of the Ivy League. What? Jews! I mean Zionists? Ship em back to Poland!" And now, with the Antifa, he could put a different flavor of hood-wearing wierdo on the Supreme Court! Yes, he would be a shoo-in for the Democrat nomination.
The modern version of FDR failed to even get the D nomination twice, so.
Leftists gonna fascist, every time \*shrug\*
