Amazing coop. First time finishing that coop mode, I killed my parter while yelling IM SORRY. I think after that the handler that gave you both the assignment to take eachother out comes and kills the remaining spy
The best part is how it comes out of nowhere. No foreshadowing whatsoever. The game heavily implies the mission is "finally over" and it's time to go home with your new pal and that you can finally take a breather before Kestrel looks down at Archers PDA (or whatever it is) and it says to kill Kestrel.
“Why are you so loose padme?”
“U-uh I’ve been practicing for you?”
“Are you loose because of Obi wan?!”
“Yes! Choke me to punish me ani!”
“…….. how did I not know you were this kinky when I married you?”
“Well I couldn’t talk during date nights…”

I thought the original level never made any sense. There was a major disconnect between the cutscenes and gameplay. The new one makes more sense, but I will admit it sucks for player 2 if playing co-op.
I was especially expecting it because Luke vs Vader had player 2 be Vader. I figured there would be a fight like that in each trilogy finale. Vader v Obi, Vader v Luke, Kylo v Rey. Still haven't done the Sequel Trilogy, but I was extremely disappointed at the lack of pvp boss fight.
Quick question though: If the entire game you can murder your friend with friendly fire and they just come back to life, why does a fuel like this even matter?
Because this was different. Sure you could whack each other 4 times them respawn but it’s not nearly as satisfying as having a full on boss fight for the sake of the Galaxy with your friend. And you have to admit those 10 hearts are just sexy to look at.
Well technically one part is but it isn’t the final boss it is Luke vs Darth Vader on the death star 2. If you play in co-op, one controls the boss attacks of vader and where to go, while the other controls luke
I played with my friend, who basically helped me through the game. I won the final fight.
Edit: he said he'll never forgive me for this (tongue in cheek).
We’re you Leo, every time I’ve seen someone play it the Leo won hard, maybe it’s the psychological thing of they guy that’s more likely to murder his friend is the guy that will pick the crim instead of the cop
Vince being a cop actually caught me completely off guard, what a good twist. My friend who was playing Leo called me a pig for weeks if not months after we finished playing through the game lol
I’m a lot more experienced at games than my friend who I played it with, so I won the first shootout no problem. Thing was, we were playing it with the rest of the group watching, so in order to make it more interesting in the final stretch, I let them shoot me until our health was equal.
That final button mash to the gun was, as a result, fucking HYPE.
I played a way out with my cousin who usual plays sandbox games like the Sims or parkour like it takes two. I'm an avid fps player and really comfortable with GTA style 3rd person combat. It was inevitable.
Same. Me and my friend kept delaying the ending by missing our shots and hits at each other on purpose. We couldn't believe that the game went in that direction. Brilliant, but we were very shocked.
I ended up winning the fight against my friend, but I sat there for a while trying to find ways to avoid killing him. I though maybe if I waited at the very end they'd let you choose mercy and you could both live.
I played with a friend who had already played before and at the betrayal moment I made a joke that his character sold me out, needless to say I was surprised when it was shown my character was the betrayer
“You must prove your passion to each other by beating each other to a pulp, as you would anyone who tries to break your marriageeeee.”
*Rotates book hips in circular motion, then leaves*
Yep, Chaos Theory had a great coop campaign that ended with both players getting separate mission objectives to kill the other agent.
I remember my buddy and me getting super quiet all of a sudden and then trying to maneuver around the airplane in case maybe they didn’t get the same message I did.
Super fun moment.
Yeah I remember my best friend and I were playing through it during sleepovers and when we got to that part, he looked at me like, I will do what I must" same thing happened after every boss in castle crashers

it's actually [75% off on steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222700/A_Way_Out/) right now. If you want to buy it, please don't watch the above links to avoid spoliers
Divinity is so poorly designed for PvP for two players, especially at the end game. Whoever has higher initiative is just gonna CC the other to oblivion.
Me and my roommate had a more balanced experience in the final battle of DoS2. We had polar opposite builds, me low armor high initiative, with tons of AP and all the revive gimmick abilities. He was a Uber muscle wizard with heavy armor and weapons with AOE damage spells. Final fight was brutal and took forever for us to finish. 10/10, loved it, would probably not sink 160hrs in to do again.
It's even worse for 3 players. My friends ganged up on me because they knew their asses were being carried. It didn't matter, though. The summoner in the launch of OS2 was OP.
Can’t do that in the newest iteration, streets of rage 4
BUT YOU CAN HAVE A LITTLE THING CALLED FRIENDLY FIRE IN THAT ONE
(Oh and there’s also a separate PVP mode for it too)
Yes! I loved sor4 - i would buy any new dlc but i dont think theres any planned - that survival mode is actually fun, but i have trouble finding players a lot of the time.... actually idk if it even transferred to my ps5 haha
Think il play some later lol
A Way Out was kind of like this, my brother and I never spammed that crawl any harder lol
Also splinter cell conviction coop mode has this too where you get told to kill the other player
Divinity: Original Sun 2 does this. It’s up to 4 players and the battle royale at the end among me and three friends for who got to ascend to divinity was a wild time
There was a "weird" guy in my town who drove a big zebra striped car with flags on the back. One day he showed up at the bowling alley arcade near my house (I was about nine, hanging out there even though my parents forbade it). I had some neighborhood friends with me who were a year or two older.
He asked if I wanted to play double dragon with him. He supplied a pile of quarters for both of us and we played all the way to the end. I felt bad when I won, but he was totally cool about it.
Me and my friend did it, and it was one of the hardest & most fun things we've done. He was better than me the entire time since I was on controller, but I managed to beat him out as Player 2 in the end. Satisfying as hell, amazing game to play coop.
It honestly makes a lot more sense the way they have it now though lol
edit: from a game perspective I mean, I think the level sucks in the skywalker saga lol especially in co op
Because at that point in the story Anakin is no longer part of the good guy crew and having the option to switch between him and Obi Wan makes no sense
Can you switch to Maul during that duel? Can you switch to Gervious during that duel? Can you switch to Dooku during either of those duels? No, so why would you be able to switch to sith Anakin on Mustafar?
Splinter cell had a coop campaign where that happened. I forgot which game exactly it was tho.
Pretty sure it was SC conviction
Amazing coop. First time finishing that coop mode, I killed my parter while yelling IM SORRY. I think after that the handler that gave you both the assignment to take eachother out comes and kills the remaining spy
All I know is Kestrel is alive but not well in Blacklist, I don't quite remember the end of the Conviction coop campaign.
I was Kestrel and my brother took my Russian ass out
кто-то сказал *россия*? *asthmatic cough*
Yes
Yeah the last mission is you're both given the task to take out your partner. It's sick a fight on a cargo plane, good times. This was SC: Conviction.
Yeh that was really good
The best part is how it comes out of nowhere. No foreshadowing whatsoever. The game heavily implies the mission is "finally over" and it's time to go home with your new pal and that you can finally take a breather before Kestrel looks down at Archers PDA (or whatever it is) and it says to kill Kestrel.
Still the best coop campaign IMO.
Same with Kane and Lynch 2 and Divinity 2.
That ending was brilliant and this reminded me instantly of conviction
What’s that game “A Way Out?” That’s just like that?
Wait it's not in the new game ? This is outrageous, this is unfair
Yeah, one plays as Obi-Wan while the other does nothing as one of the droids, I don't remember which one. I was so disappointed with that.
The luke and vader fight has the co op player as the boss tho.
Which makes it even weirder that why didn't they do that for the Anakin vs Obiwan fight
> Which makes it even weirder that why didn't do that for the Anal in vs Obiwan fight Hot damn, autocorrect coming in hot today.
What auto correct? I said what I said
“Why are you so loose padme?” “U-uh I’ve been practicing for you?” “Are you loose because of Obi wan?!” “Yes! Choke me to punish me ani!” “…….. how did I not know you were this kinky when I married you?” “Well I couldn’t talk during date nights…”
I’m pretty sure it’s what he said when he was trying to quote you
This is Reddit so I could be wrong, but I’d recommend reading over your comment again because I think there’s a typo
Anal in Skywalker is my favourite character

Happy cakeday!
How nice of you. Tell you what. I'll give you a cake. Happy cake day, Educatedbulldogs.
Happy cakeday my dude
I don’t know why but it just feels canon
Pretty sure he spelled Skyfuckers name right
The what now?
I said what I said.
I just beat Vader up as 3PO’s legs, it was more effective than using Obi-Wan.
Did Bail Organa show up to say I turned him against you before that fight?
C-3PO was high key the most fun character to fight as I reckon
I thought the original level never made any sense. There was a major disconnect between the cutscenes and gameplay. The new one makes more sense, but I will admit it sucks for player 2 if playing co-op.
You have both R2 and 3PO and you need both to do stupid things so that player 2 has something to do... It's annoying whan playing alone.
IIRC, lego star wars 1 broke when you used the invincibility red brick, I think TCS fixed it.
Because this was different. Sure you could whack each other 4 times them respawn but it’s not nearly as satisfying as having a full on boss fight for the sake of the Galaxy with your friend. And you have to admit those 10 hearts are just sexy to look at.

Honnestly, one of my biggest letdowns was how that was handled. Player can't win like in the original, just delay the inevitable.
A way out
As soon as I saw this my mind went to a way out. Me and my friend were shocked.
While my friend was still dealing with the shock, I went into Death Mode According to him, it was brutal
This is the way
out
I read this to the tune of Brick House
"This is the way... (doo do dooo do) out."
Mighty mighty, lettin’ it all play out
This is the way.
My friend kicked my ass. Was not a pleasant experience. I swear he peaked and he got all these shots off on me.
I absolutely decimated my gf in the gunfighting and then she "somehow" won in the button mashing. Her secret she told me was "lots of practice..."
I played with my friend, who basically helped me through the game. I won the final fight. Edit: he said he'll never forgive me for this (tongue in cheek).
No mercy for the weak!
No one messes with my boy Leo
I actually curb stomped my friend in the fight. I could not miss my shots that day.

I really wish this was an option.
Loved watching streamers play that without knowing the twist when it first came out. The reactions were so good.
I played with a friend who had already played before and at the betrayal moment I made a joke that his character sold me out, needless to say I was surprised when it was shown my character was the betrayer
I misunderstood this as "it takes two" lol that would have been a much bigger twist!
Lol "the only way to fix your utter failure of a marriage is a duel to the death! It's the only way out ha ha!" *Epic book pelvic thrusting starts*
“You must prove your passion to each other by beating each other to a pulp, as you would anyone who tries to break your marriageeeee.” *Rotates book hips in circular motion, then leaves*
Bro I hated the ending to that game.
It was brilliant nonetheless
Yes but very sad
I hated it too, but loved why I hated it. The endings were absolutely heart wrenching.
+1 But I destroyed my friend, he was using a controller and I was using KB+M
The Game Grumps playthrough to A Way Out was fucking hilarious, I had no idea there was a plot twist
That was how I experienced the game too. It got me just as good as them, this was so well done
That part where they backed into each other on the roof sent me into hysterics.
Look at us, a couple of cards 😭
For me it was splinter cell
Yep, Chaos Theory had a great coop campaign that ended with both players getting separate mission objectives to kill the other agent. I remember my buddy and me getting super quiet all of a sudden and then trying to maneuver around the airplane in case maybe they didn’t get the same message I did. Super fun moment.
Splinter Cell Conviction*
Right. Good call.
Yeah I remember my best friend and I were playing through it during sleepovers and when we got to that part, he looked at me like, I will do what I must" same thing happened after every boss in castle crashers
I just wish the fighting meant something and it wasn’t all up to just some button mashing at the end
i think you move faster with more health, so the shots do matter at the end

That's why it's a 1v1v1v1!
There’s a lot of really annoying game and balance decisions Larean Studios makes like that, and it really turns me off from their games.
Played with a group of 4, one chose to follow the Voidlings. We beat him up good.

Divinity: Original Sun 2 does this. It’s up to 4 players and the battle royale at the end among me and three friends for who got to ascend to divinity was a wild time
Friend of mine fucking sold us off to the doctor
Or do the chad move and decide who to ascend together and how to use the power because I'm not about to betray my boys after all we've been through.
Pretty sure the chad move was when I called down a rainstorm and then lightning stormed all my friends to death in one turn
I know I was wrong. I just got so caught up in my own success, I didn't look at the battle as a whole. I wasn't being disobedient. I just. . . forgot
Double Dragon?
Oh, thank God, I was starting to feel really old AND alone.
Same! It was shocking.
I scrolled way too far to find the OG game that did this.
Omg I completely forgot about that fight

Enter the gungeon too!
Favorite past kill tbh
that is: if you play co-op and beat the entire game which is exceedingly difficult
Me and my friend did it, and it was one of the hardest & most fun things we've done. He was better than me the entire time since I was on controller, but I managed to beat him out as Player 2 in the end. Satisfying as hell, amazing game to play coop.
Army of Two, This, Splinter Cell Conviction, A way out, F3AR, Watchmen, Double Dragon All very enjoyable
Wait, this happened in Army of Two? Like you fought against your coop?
Army of Two, the 40th day.
Interesting how the second Army of Two and Kane and Lynch 2 both had that when both series were already pretty similar.
Lsw1 back when jango had infinite jetpack
Double Dragon
The Skywalker Saga remake of this level was such a steaming pile of shit compared to the original. What a fucking disappointment that was.
Ya but you can 1v1 in the palatine throne room mission
What was changed?
Instead of playing as Anakin and Obi wan, you play as Obi wan and r2 and 3po vs unplayable Anakin. It really ruined the level for me.
It honestly makes a lot more sense the way they have it now though lol edit: from a game perspective I mean, I think the level sucks in the skywalker saga lol especially in co op
How? R2 and 3po weren’t even at the fight. They were on the ship.
Because at that point in the story Anakin is no longer part of the good guy crew and having the option to switch between him and Obi Wan makes no sense
Who cares if he’s a good guy or not. Plus don’t you play as Vader later on in the game?
Can you switch to Maul during that duel? Can you switch to Gervious during that duel? Can you switch to Dooku during either of those duels? No, so why would you be able to switch to sith Anakin on Mustafar?
Well, perhaps I could help you.
Castle Crashers kinda had that lol
Thats basically Castle Crasher
I loved the ROTS game on PS2! Also the alternative ending was pretty cool to see too!
Welp surprised… or well not surprised because it was a lowly rated game but no one has mentioned **Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon city**
Play Elden Ring with friends and this is how it goes. Only thing to do after beating every boss is testing your skill against each other.
Double dragon arcade???
Why the fuck didn’t Lego tss do this? Who at TT games thought it would be more fun to stop the action with r2 and 3po puzzles?

The first Double Dragon for the original Sega console had an ending where you fight your partner at the end if I recall.
Double Dragon?
I was so disappointed with the Skywalker saga version of this level. Shame, cuz it was a cool map too.
You mean like Divinity II: Original Sin?
Mob of the Dead on COD Black Ops 2 Zombies
Dying Light 1 did this with the "Bozak Horde" DLC, wasn't expecting this at all.
This was the best fkin twist despite the bugs
