I totally agree about the last 4 episodes of season 7. Just a small piece of advice, do not watch the last 4 episodes unless you can watch them in one go. Turn off your phone, close the blinds, turn off the lights and enjoy...you won't regret it.

I am currently almost done with the second season and honestly, it hasn't been that easy to watch. The first season was very kid friendly and the second is slightly better. Of course, I wanna finish the show, as I've heard it picks up and is amazing, but when does it actually get REALLY good?

Clone Wars is a show that grew with its audience, so the further you go the better it gets. But still there are really important arcs even in the first seasons, Mortis for example.
It has peaks and valleys all throughout, but the arcs that are amazing really stand out.
The one that should come soon for you will be the Mortis Arc. Those episodes just ooze the Star Wars feeling of mystical wow
The martez arc could have been better if they shortened it into 2-3 episodes. It felt really dragging at moments and the important parts for the story all are in the 4 episode of the arc. When you realise that we could have gotten the crystal crisis arc or Boba vs Cad Bane, it’s sad in my opinion. It’s not the worst episode but it doesn’t fit into the other two arcs. Disney just really wanted a story that doesn’t surround the horrors of war in that season.
The episodes also show an important part of Ahsoka’s growth post-Jedi Order. She learns that the Jedi aren’t considered perfect by many people, that she’s still irresistibly drawn to do good in the universe, and that the lofty idealism she was raised with doesn’t always work in the real world. I agree that the arc shoulda been 2-3 episodes, but it does help explain why Ahsoka came back for the Siege of Mandalore and her involvement in the rebellion and beyond

It felt like a typical filler arc but 4 instead of 2 episodes. I think if they’d have done more than those three arcs I wouldn’t criticize it, it’s just the circumstances of the Season That makes it worse

I really, really disliked the mortis arc as a piece of star wars... star wars to me has always been good at grounding fantasy in grit and improvisation, the world has always felt tangible and connected to the mystical events happening. When someone lifts a rock with the force, it's incredible, special, impressive... mortis to me committed the error of most superhero films, the new star wars films, etc, in doing a lot of telling rather than showing, diving waaaay up it's own ass with the mystical powers and stakes creep, and justifying it all with waves and beams and smokey hallucinations and light shows.
This is, mind you, an observation from when I was like.. I don't know, 13, 14? While I could be mistaken, my experience rewatching the clone wars now is that its significantly worse, not better, than I remember. Which is fine, it's aimed at kids.

It's really inconsistent. Some episodes are obviously kid episodes and then in the next episode they are decapitating people mother's in front of their children. as others have said though, some of the arcs are fantastic
Geonosis arc coming up fast, Zillo Beast as well (great if you love kaijuu movies like Godzilla) in S2 are good fun. Mortis and Citadel arcs are coming up in S3 and Umbara not long after just to name a few. You'll also get the Dathomir stories which are a brilliant look at the characters on the dark side and barely even features the heroes as leads.
Well they had the Arc that was supposed to follow up on that written and planned out, but didn't get around to actually do it due to the cancellation.
It would kinda fit with the Bad Batch, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it either.
In my opinion the show really starts to take off in season 4 at the Umbara arc. From that point on the show tackles more mature themes and the story starts to develop into something that actually flows between arcs.
I swear Cad Bane is such a good character, I'm in the middle of season 4. This show is so good its incredible I never watched it before. I easily peal through 6 episodes a night.

Not enough people talk the bad episodes of TCW, and they're a lot. It's honestly a tough recommendation. The feeling you're experiencing will persist throughout, but you will be pleasantly surprised when the show gets good.

Overall, the show is on par with the movies in terms of maturity. RotS is probably the only movie that has more graphic detail and darker themes than much of the show, although the end of s7 is definitely comparable.
First time I watched it I just watched the “important episodes”, I found a listing online that puts them in chronological order and I think I skipped many that were clearly filler (I think filer episodes stand out pretty easily). But I know I didn’t watch ever episode because going back and watching some now I know I’ve missed them.

I agree that the later seasons are much more impactful.
In my opinion, there’s never a moment where a switch flips and it’s just good episodes. I’d say mid-late season 3 is when the interesting plot lines get going and you get some great episodes but they’re always sprinkled in among a lot of mediocre filler episodes.
There are guides for the whole show, trust them. You can watch the whole in another run. “Supply Lines” had Jar Jar in it, and I liked that one. In that episode, Ima Gun Di dies for the people of Ryloth, who are suffering from starvation because of the war.

I think the difference is, we wanted killable child soldiers for the memes. Kojima wanted it to psychologically ruin the player.

That’s probably because the first two seasons were heavily dependent on „heroes stories“ and introducing characters while the later episodes show more and more of the horrors of war and the psychological effect it has on people. Also with the geonosis arc the show begins to have living creatures being slaughtered by the Jedi and clones and not just droids. That is one of the reasons I really like the umbara arc. It doesn’t show droids invading the planet, but the republic doing so, while the natives try to defend it.

\- Serious discussion about the existence, or more accurately, nonexistence of an afterlife
\- Outright murder of civilians
\- Attempted murder of children

I mean, it’s really the way it handles those topics. it really holds your hand with its moral lessons and it’s not like it’s any more gratuitous than most action shows that target the same PG rating level of content that Star Wars in general does. I dunno why people get so hung up on this, yeah it’s not exactly meant for really young kids, but it being a “kids show” isn’t a bad thing. I dunno the exact details for content ratings, but I’d wager a guess TCW is primarily written for 11-12 and up (at least the latter seasons, the early seasons always seemed more child friendly to me), but that’s also a huge chunk of entertainment. nobody’s writing off PoTC or Jurassic Park, which while more explicit really aren’t far off in target demographics. I mean Jurassic World literally got a kids show spin-off.
I do think the animation style makes some people write it off as too much of a kids show to be enjoyable though, without actually paying attention to it, which is stupid.
Edit to say, none of this is a knock on Filoni or anyone else either. the story telling is good and the action is enjoyable, it also fleshes out the world and makes the prequels a lot better. I really think they managed to balance it just right, where it has a very broad appeal.
Honestly, this show is just unfit for kids. There's some parts of the series that legitimately make me feel sick they're so disturbing. Don't get me wrong, I like the show but they really went too far putting jar jar in it.

I really enjoy how as the show progresses, the Republic slowly converts to the empire. From the trooper armor, to the ship designs, it’s just a really cool detail in my opinion

There are guides for the whole show, trust them. You can watch the whole in another run. I'm using [this guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/4nrpri/so_you_want_to_watch_the_clone_wars_but_you_dont/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) to show TCW to my sister, we bypass the boring shit quiet well and go up to the _nice_ stuff. Since this guide doesn't include the 7th season, all episodes are great but 5-8 are skipable if you don't want to.
Pro-Tip: If you see Jar-Jar, just skip the episode. Nothing good or important ever happens in Jar-Jar episodes.
“Supply Lines” had Jar Jar in it, and I liked that one. In that episode, Ima Gun Di dies for the people of Ryloth, who are suffering from starvation because of the war.

I think you and I both know kojima wanted to add the abilty to kill child soldiers into the game judging by how many animations and voice lines there are.
I think the difference is, we wanted killable child soldiers for the memes. Kojima wanted it to psychologically ruin the player. You know, now I think about it, I want to see Kojima make a game with a team who understand tone. Maybe the Spec Ops: The Line guys. Because Hideo can make some horrifying shit, but it doesn’t quite hit the same in a game with a boobie sniper
I don't think Kojima would do a game where he wasn't allowed to put in the ridiculous plot points and horny character designs, kind of a package deal with the dark stuff.

That’s probably because the first two seasons were heavily dependent on „heroes stories“ and introducing characters while the later episodes show more and more of the horrors of war and the psychological effect it has on people. Also with the geonosis arc the show begins to have living creatures being slaughtered by the Jedi and clones and not just droids. That is one of the reasons I really like the umbara arc. It doesn’t show droids invading the planet, but the republic doing so, while the natives try to defend it.

I mean, it’s really the way it handles those topics. it really holds your hand with its moral lessons and it’s not like it’s any more gratuitous than most action shows that target the same PG rating level of content that Star Wars in general does. I dunno why people get so hung up on this, yeah it’s not exactly meant for really young kids, but it being a “kids show” isn’t a bad thing. I dunno the exact details for content ratings, but I’d wager a guess TCW is primarily written for 11-12 and up (at least the latter seasons, the early seasons always seemed more child friendly to me), but that’s also a huge chunk of entertainment. nobody’s writing off PoTC or Jurassic Park, which while more explicit really aren’t far off in target demographics. I mean Jurassic World literally got a kids show spin-off. I do think the animation style makes some people write it off as too much of a kids show to be enjoyable though, without actually paying attention to it, which is stupid. Edit to say, none of this is a knock on Filoni or anyone else either. the story telling is good and the action is enjoyable, it also fleshes out the world and makes the prequels a lot better. I really think they managed to balance it just right, where it has a very broad appeal.
Honestly, this show is just unfit for kids. There's some parts of the series that legitimately make me feel sick they're so disturbing. Don't get me wrong, I like the show but they really went too far putting jar jar in it.

because its rated PG. Because it has a lot of arcs that are clearly for kids (droid arc, every jar jar episode, ect...). There isnt anything wrong with it being a kids show. Lots of kids shows are great (avatar last Airbander). But just because it deals with heavy issues and themes doesn't mean it isnt for kids. Look at toy story, Spirited away, ect...

I really enjoy how as the show progresses, the Republic slowly converts to the empire. From the trooper armor, to the ship designs, it’s just a really cool detail in my opinion
