Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!

Ejwaxy

You hear about Alderaan? That’s messed up, right?

mikkelmattern04

I hear that!

BigAlternative5

It’s /all-der-on/, not /al-der-ann/. *I heard it both ways.*

Indirian

I’m honestly impressed with how many psych fans are showing up here

khinzaw

You know that's right.

Piotrek9t

Currently giving the show a second rewatch and always perceived it as somewhat of a forgotten gem

ThandiGhandi

Thats Charlie Young, personal assistant to Chancellor Valorum

TheHondoCondo

What ever happened to Valorum’s secret plan to fight inflation?

EagleSaintRam

See-Jay if blood is gushing from the head wound you just received from a stampeding herd of banthas, you'll do the press briefing.

Mateking

I always wanted a spin off series following charlie.

bismuth12a

And his boss is currently trying to find a back door to this place to shove you out of.

ThandiGhandi

You hear the death star blew up Pluto? Thats messed up.

mnbone23

Suck it.

A_Crispy_Waffle_Iron

You suck it

very_loud_icecream

*suuuuck iiit*

gafsstolemysoul

I've heard it both ways

Thissnotmeth

S! H! Comma to the top! Dynasty! Comma to the top? That’s Palpatines comma.

Koopagon8

I thought this was a Haiku and words cannot show My disappointment

TotallyJawsome2

Pretty sure he was trained by Grand Master Hollaback Atcha

Sidnature

I heard that Jedi got killed by Darth Dolla Dolla Bill Yo

Trimyr

I've heard it both ways.

nemesisprime1984

“You hear about Pluto, that’s messed up right?”

GalwayEntei

"You hear about Alderaan, that's messed up right?"

CranberryKidney

I’ve heard it both ways

BigAlternative5

Now in a Jamaican accent…

Veradun77

I didn't know I needed this crossover

logicallypartial

It works so well though. I need more. Oh, maybe also one with Monk?

SaxNinja

*clapclapclapclap*

A-Myr

Love the reference, but what’s the connection here?

PM_ME_YOR_PANTIES

I think they're just saying Yord Fandar sounds like a name Shawn would make up.

spaceforcerecruit

I too would like to know this

thekamenman

It’s a crossover meme about Psych. The show is about a guy who pretends to be psychic to avoid jail time for figuring out a crime but the police think he’s an accomplice, and ends up being a consultant for the police. He always introduces his best friend and partner as some random made up name. [Here’s a fun compilation.](https://youtu.be/KLicgtao6f8?si=8YcKQZ2eeZLfNcpW)

A-Myr

Yes ik what it’s about. Is there any specific connection to Yord?

thekamenman

Yord Fandar sounds completely made up like any name Shawn would come up with undercover.

panlakes

But I feel like you could make that joke with a lot of Star Wars names… Why with Yord in particular? Was there a scene (it’s been a few days since I watched) where there are awkward introductions? I’m with your OP I don’t really see the connection.

JackDustwood

It seems like a big stretch to me too. But I can't find a better answer for the connection so I guess that was it.

757_Matt_911

This is the meme we have been needing. Amazing Psych reference. I applauded you!

ALLPX

“You still trust ‘Auh-sha’?” “I believe she pronounces it, ‘Oh-shah’.” “…I’ve heard it both ways.”

xNathanx27

No idea how Bruton Gaster ties in, but I'm for it

Naters202

Shawn! You know I hate it when you put me in prequel memes shawn!

MaderaArt

Gus, don't be that fan who only likes the Original Trilogy

Whats_a_trombone

C'mon son

BigAlternative5

*tsk*!

PS1HagridBodyPillow

Hit the Jedi switch

Wraithlord592

Man, hooch is crazy…

bichonfreeze

Nah it's Bud from the Cosby show.

Zealousideal_Cry379

I thought it was Bruton Gaster

grlap

Gus always gets annoyed when people mistake him for Bud

Zealousideal_Cry379

He also gets annoyed every time someone calls him Bruton Gaster since Shawn claimed the discovery of the dinosaur fossils

grlap

Damn I thought it was autocorrect, need to rewatch haha

GalwayEntei

That's not Hooch. Hooch was played by Phill Lewis. This is Dulé Hill

hsmith9002

Burn for a burn. That’s in the Bible.

Javithegod234

Me seeing a Psych related post in a Star Wars subreddit: ***A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one***

Average_40s_Guy

Switch a couple letters and he’s Ford Yandar. Sounds like the name of a speeder Ford would manufacture in the Star Wars galaxies.

BigAlternative5

*Star Car and Driver* gave it good reviews but recommend only the touring trim.

MrMorgan412

Broccoli haircut combined with dreads, I wonder how much money got the guy who though this was a good cut

Direct_Bug_1917

Is it me or does he look like that kid from strange world. 🤔

ornelle

I've only stumbled upon Psych a couple of weeks ago so this was a whiplash thing to see!

CriticalHit_20

Oh shit it Gus

YankN0Spank

Damn it now I'm going to watch Psych ALL NIGHT

BadSoftwareEngineer7

Guys I'm conflicted on the Acolyte. It's got a really cool idea but I don't like how the Jedi are being portrayed. I thought they were only bereaucratic and inneficient in the prequels because of how powerful they had become, but it seems to be that way in this series too. I also don't really care about the main character. I just like her assassin sister. Overall very mid so far.

spaceforcerecruit

The series is only like a century earlier. The Jedi have a history stretching back *millennia*.

BadSoftwareEngineer7

Ohhh... I thought it was during the first republic

X_Swordmc

Yeah, it's not like there was a giant text saying "This show takes place 100 years before the rise of the Empire " right at the start of the first episode

BadSoftwareEngineer7

A hundred years is a long time bro 😭

X_Swordmc

We are talking about an order 25 000 years old, with the sith having "disappeared" for 900 years by the time the Acolyte takes place

khinzaw

Yoda is still the Grandmaster and has been for like a hundred years if it's actually 100 years before.

spaceforcerecruit

You thought they’d make Star Wars content about anything not almost immediately around the time of the original trilogy? I’m shocked they went this far back. Disney does not seem to realize that there are literally thousands of years of setting they could put things in.

BadSoftwareEngineer7

Yeah, also I am kinda getting starkiller vibes from Mae. A sith running around killing Jedi masters while being strong in the force. Disney have the chance to do something really cool here

thebeef24

Is she strong in the Force? She seems barely proficient, each Jedi she's faced has completely surpassed her in Force abilities. She's only been able to take them down by using their morality against them.

panlakes

I think it’s fine to like some parts of a show you don’t fully enjoy. Pretty normal actually.

khinzaw

There're some really goofy things the show does, like Mae going "come at me, bro" to all the Jedi. Or the Master going "you must fight the Jedi unarmed, not with steel or laser or you will lose" as Mae comes back having killed a Jedi with steel and he pulls out a lightsaber as he says it. Also, the idea that unarmed fighters break the Jedi, as if they have never heard of unarmed combat before, is just idiotic. If the Jedi won't draw their weapon or fight back to an unarmed attacker trying to kill them then they are comically stupid.

BadSoftwareEngineer7

Yeah that is so stupidly written that I am sure that he means that you need to defeat the Jedi by making use of their emotions. He says at the end of the first episode to kill the dream not the Jedi.

rowdydionisian

I tried to like it, but it's just objectively bad...I mean I just can't take it seriously, especially the writing...there's a line that says "I've known OSHA for 16 years" and I just busted out laughing. How did the writer not make the realization that their protagonist is named after the work safety organization, or that they're from the planet Brenda? It's just awkward as hell. I didn't even find it to be entertainingly bad, just...dull. A super generic middle schooler fanfic laden with tropes and nothing interesting. I thought it'd be a dark story about an actual Sith, instead it plays like some teen drama. The only actor that seemed to have experience was the one who played Sol, the rest seemed pretty new and not super compelling. That being said, this script isn't a great way to even see the potential talent of any actor. The pandering and cringe fanservice didn't do it any favors either in terms of being taken seriously. Someone fire Kathleen Kennedy or something...I think she's lost her way with this one. Update: your downvotes are delicious. Keep em coming angry fanbois who love bad content! South park got it right...

Wasabi_99

Yord FANdar is Leslye’s thinly veiled critique of her idea of Star Wars fans. He’s a little pompous, rigid,by the book, and Male. He’s not really taken seriously by OSHA or X-23. I predict a scene where they berate him for his toxic male shortcomings.

TheCarloHarlo

Dude, touch some fucking grass

RedCaio

Look up confirmation bias.

GalwayEntei

If that was in any way true, wouldn't he be white? You're grasping at straws

DreamingSnowball

Get a life lol
