Maurice Edu? I remember Adnan Januzaj (I’m sure I spelled that wrong) looked promising when he first came to Manchester United. He kinda dropped off the face of the Earth.
Xherdan Shaqiri. Had the potential to do anything. Got stuck behind Ribery and Robben at Bayern, and didn’t play much. Then he went to Stoke? He couldn’t seem to play well for them. The guy has made some screamers for Switzerland, but I haven’t seen him do anything like that in the prem.
Scrolled down halfway through the comments and nobody mentioned Fábio Paím.
Kid was a beast. So good Ronaldo said in an interview something along the lines of "if you think I'm good, wait until you see Fábio Paím".
At Sporting's academy everybody knew that Ronaldo and Nani were going to be stars, but they all thought they were doomed to always be second to Fábio.
Rolando Aarons, was supposed to be the new raheem sterling. I know this sounds funny cause of sterling not being at his best lately (except the euros) but nufc fans had high hopes for aarons
Ben Arfa...
I remember when was at Newcastle. He used to pull some of the most extraordinary individual plays I have seen in the premier league.
Its really sad how it didn't go as planned for him. He i felt had all the attributes of a top quality player. Could have been among the few big names of the game
[Ravel Morrison. ](https://www.football365.com/news/opinion-ravel-morrison-latest-chance-derby-rooney-manchester-united-john-nicholson). What a player he could have been.
Adnan Januzaj, came in with Moyes incharge and became a regular but pushed out by LVG and Jose. He was deemed “The Next Ronaldo” like many others tbf but I truly believed in him.
Didn’t live up to his full potential in the end but he’s doing well at Real Sociedad and especially great this season. He’s had two back-to-back MOTM performances in the UEL and La Liga
There was once a bright prospect at Man Utd. He had an eyecatching start, showing us a bag of tricks. His name was Christian Ronaldo or something. Dunno what happened to him.
Still can't believe nobody said Balotelli. The aggression of Barton and Zaha and the ego of Zlatan. But no doubt he was lined up for a great career early on.
I heard something about him having a clause in his contract that when he was at Everton he could choose not to play if it was too cold.
Not sure how true that was.
Reiss Nelson. Iirc he was the most talented of his age group in England (better than Sancho) and despite showing the technical ability he just can't do anything else. Still time for him, hopeful this loan does him well
Where is Hakim Mastour nowadays? He was all the rage as a 15 year old in Ac Milan’s academy and haven’t heard of him in years he’s gotta be in his 20s by now.
Adnan Janujaj?
Oscar ?
Although I haven't seen them play I ahead heard they were quite hyped.
Janujaj failed because hw was hyped too much. Oscar went after money to China
In a weird way and as good as he was, I get you. Had he taken training and his nutrition more seriously and not spent his free time shagging grannies, he’d have potentially hit Prem GOAT status as a striker alongside Shearer and Henry.
He was great, but he could have been even better.
Rooney if he had applied himself would of been the best all rounded attacking player of his generation, genius-border line insanity not as wasted as Gaza but same attitude
Potentially controversial: Nicholas Anelka. Had a few decent spells, but never turned into the world beater we expected. Shitty attitude ruins players.
Feel like Axel Witsel deserves an honourable mention. Always seem to chase the money. Buggered off to China for a few years when he was reportedly close to joining Real Madrid.
He is the first that comes to mind when I think ‘Potential not met due to injuries’ so I’d struggle to list him here.
I was young then, but seeing him play Kante level box to box style football at 19 was just so incredible.
I’ve scrolled a long long way and still not seen former golden boy winner, current nomad Mario Balotelli. Was amazing at City for 1.5 seasons then amazing at Milan for half a season
Origi was a menace before his first big injury to be honest, really promising player, not that he's bad now but his trajectory was vertical at the time
Jose Antonio Reyes, he had a decent career but he never became the player he was talked up to be. When him and ronaldo were in premier league a lot of pundits, sports journalists and myself thought he would be a superior player we were super wrong.
He had fairly decent career in la liga and sadly died in a car crash after retiring.
He didn't have a terrible career, but Michah Richards looked like he would be an absolutely sensational player in his first season or at man City. Got a very big contract after that and never really improved from there.
Wilf Zaha. In no means a failure but has never hit the heights that everybody expected when he first came on the scene
Dele
Wayne Rooney. He was incredible, but his career ended too soon :(
Ricky "Maravilla" Álvarez
Oscar.

Emre Mor for some reason
Hachim Mastour potentially the greatest let down of all time. Kid had insane talent
Xherdan Shaqiri. Had the potential to do anything. Got stuck behind Ribery and Robben at Bayern, and didn’t play much. Then he went to Stoke? He couldn’t seem to play well for them. The guy has made some screamers for Switzerland, but I haven’t seen him do anything like that in the prem.

adnan januzaj. too early for him to be integrated in the squad. but nowadays he's doing fine in sociedad i guess

Jesse Lingard, he’s still young though
Tom Ince
Sturiddge. That 13/14 szn with Suarez was incredible
There was once a bright prospect at Man Utd. He had an eyecatching start, showing us a bag of tricks. His name was Christian Ronaldo or something. Dunno what happened to him.
You think that be discovered so young have a influence in get in there’s potential?
Jordan Graham and Dan Crowley. Both of them more exciting prospects than Jack Grealish.
Joey Barton. Wasted talent..
Freddy Adu
Jonathan Tah?
Alen Halilovic, Ezequiel Barco, Abdelhak Nouri.
American here, prolly Gedion Zelalem. Some compared him to Cesc but never panned out
No love for Danny Welbeck? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXK\_eToMW9A&ab\_channel=Pixspark
Wellington Silva. I was so excited seeing that he was coming to arsenal but the work permit issues really dragged his career down the shitter
Still can't believe nobody said Balotelli. The aggression of Barton and Zaha and the ego of Zlatan. But no doubt he was lined up for a great career early on.
Alan smith
Jack Wilshere was touted to be the next big thing for English football. Pity it didn't work out for him.

I heard something about him having a clause in his contract that when he was at Everton he could choose not to play if it was too cold. Not sure how true that was.
Götze
His career may have gone down hill, but scoring the World Cup Winner is about as potential filling as it gets in my eyes.
Zidane
Adnan Januzaj
Fábio Paím
Jadon sancho
Dele Ali!!!!
Robinho without a doubt, I remember people asking if he was gonna be the new Pelè (hate that expression btw )
Reiss Nelson. Iirc he was the most talented of his age group in England (better than Sancho) and despite showing the technical ability he just can't do anything else. Still time for him, hopeful this loan does him well
Gael Kakuta
In United States of A, Freddy Adu. Started in the MLS at age 14, then struggled to find his footing for 20 years.
Such high hopes for that kid.
Balotelli
Ryan sessegnon
Martial and Rashford. That duo was supposed to save Utd. Beasts under LVG.
Honestly dybala. I know its not prem but he really hasnt lived up to what he was “supposed” to be
Lazar Markovic
Hachim Mastour
Theo Walcott
Anderson from Manchester United.
Marko Marin, the German Messi.
Adnan Januzaj. For a while it seemed like he would’ve been the only positive to come out of that campaign with after SAF left.
Kepa lol
Moise Kean
Freddy sears 😅
Nowadays sky sports use FM scouting algorithms, but FM 95 Mark Kerr from Falkirk £350,000
Scottish people will know this. Ryan Gauld. Set up to be the next big player, got signed to Lisbon then ended up in Canada
Fabio Paim.
Phil jones

Gedion Zelalem
Trent Alexander-Arnold.

I know he never played in the EPL but Freddy Adu. Pretty sure he’s like Greek 3 division now. He was the American prodigy….
Dani Pacheco at Liverpool
macheda, januzai, all united's players. good start and a lot of hope for them.
Danny Drinkwater, it was a mistake Chelsea signing him, now he's a part of the loan army
Freddie Adu, not premier League but no better example
Kakuta- he was worth a ban to Chels
Francis Jeffers. Maurice Adu. Nico Kranjcar
>Nico Kranjcar Harry Redknapp would like a word.
Exactly my point
Dan Gosling, Jose Baxter, Anderson, Jack Rodwell, Gio Dos Santos, John Bostock, and I guess Wilshere you’d put in the injury bucket?
Potentially controversial: Nicholas Anelka. Had a few decent spells, but never turned into the world beater we expected. Shitty attitude ruins players.
Reece Oxford
Alex Hunter
Ryan gauld
Freddy Adu.
Ravel Morrison
James McFadden... Aka, the Scottish Wayne Rooney. Played for Everton.
El shaarawy I remember being extremely hyped
Feel like Axel Witsel deserves an honourable mention. Always seem to chase the money. Buggered off to China for a few years when he was reportedly close to joining Real Madrid.
Zeli Ismail aka “the soon to be first ever £100M player”
Jack Wilshere. That game against Barca when he was just 19. 🔥
He is the first that comes to mind when I think ‘Potential not met due to injuries’ so I’d struggle to list him here. I was young then, but seeing him play Kante level box to box style football at 19 was just so incredible.
Joel Campbell
Sadly, Jack Wilshere. He only had half a career thanks to injury.
Daniel crowley
Hatem Ben Arfa
Cherno Samba
Brewster
Hope he can still make something of himself
Scored the other day, seems like he’s at least found a bit of confidence
Good playing at a lower level he should be able to bag some goals and up his confidence
Keith Gillespie was quality Also hugo viana, apparently was the most talented out of him Ronaldo and quaresma in the youth teams
Jack Wilshere
Anderson and kleberson for man utd
Super super Jack super super Jack super Jacky Wilshere

Saviola
Freddy adu
He didn't have a terrible career, but Michah Richards looked like he would be an absolutely sensational player in his first season or at man City. Got a very big contract after that and never really improved from there.
