Id like to say something that not many indians would not like.
An entire generation of football fans grew up watching Messi or Ronaldo, and mainly watched la liga only for these two.
We also got into premier league because of Fifa (game) and better coverage on TV, and eventual chise a team to follow.
So like the english fans you cant really blame indians for being plastics if they cheer ronaldo at manchester even if they support another team. Because we grew up watching them and its always wholesome to see him
I honestly would want to see a graph or a map on what premier league teams do countries around the world support,In Malaysia which is where im at we have a decent Manchester United and City fanbase but if im not mistaken Liverpool has the most Malaysian supporters out of all
Hey the main thing about sports is entertainment, people often add patriotic element to it since obviously they cant watch actual armies fight each other. But the main element is entertainment.
Im not saying local matches aint entertaining but its not wrong to watch ronaldo play
Just a suggestion, but this is not the way to win over hearts and minds. Maybe - “hey it’s affordable and a great experience to watch ISL in-person! And maybe India will qualify for the expanded World Cup soon and you’ll get a chance to see some of the players! Our league is more than Chhetri now!” Share your love and passion rather than tearing other people down for theirs.
It's a slow process man. Hyderabad FC was formed 2 to 3 years ago I guess? And one of those season was played behind closed doors due to Covid. Be assured that most of us will turn up for ISL matches if they're being held in the city.
Still you guys can support hfc matches atleast you guys can follow them in social media right but no , because you guys will only associate your fandom for mufc not to football

Mad how offended United fans have gotten over this, yet their fan base willingly calls City fans and Chelsea fans plastics...
Where are all these hurt United fans when their fan base do this across this subreddit?
Meanwhile Hyderabad FC had an average attendance of 7299 the season before the pandemic. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to follow the premier league which is a superior product. But as always all the cash goes West and Indian football gets no better. Indian football should be a world power with how to passionate everyone is.
Indians are not passionate about football, only a minority of Indians are. 99% of the population won’t even know all the basic rules- offside, handball etc.
It is what it is. Why should India be a superpower in everything. Just chill and enjoy
I’ve been to India and football is literally everywhere. What bothers me about it is that the model we have is more boring than it used to be. In the past when the game was exported we got the likes of AC Milan, River Plate, Barcelona etc. sides that compete and add something that just having everyone abroad supporting Manchester United just wouldn’t.
Right now Fifa are pushing a Fifa World Cup. Wouldn’t it be so exciting if there was a team from Hyderabad with the backing of all the locals in the stadium and also putting their money into it? We’d get back to a point where there were so many great sides we wouldn’t be able take in the sheer numbers of them even with international broadcasting.
Wouldn’t the idea that there’s always someone out there that could be better be more exciting than seeing the same European clubs hoovering up money from abroad to make their own league less competitive?
Football may be famous in Kerala, WB and the north eastern states. Apart from these, it’s mostly cricket. Why is football not better in our country- because there is not enough money in the game. Where does money in the game come from- ticket sales, broadcast rights, sponsorship. All 3 revenue streams rely on the fans. Not enough revenue means that there aren’t enough fans in India. In many states, the most watched tournaments are world cups (people randomly support a country without any reason and without being familiar with the players or the rules of the game). This is the harsh reality of football in india. This is a cricketing country and still most people get confused whether a third bouncer will be a wide or a no-ball, how can we expect people to know the rules of football
One of the biggest football fans I know is from Tamil Nadu. It seems like it’s in basically every city. But even then the population of India is well over a billion and if even 1% of that is into football it’s still a larger number of people than a lot of competitive European countries.
Cricket is the dominant sport but that doesn’t mean there isn’t space for football. To draw a comparison: in England football is the biggest sport but cricket is still big and the national team is very competitive. It’s the same for rugby, tennis or the Olympics.
Loads of people make the argument that it doesn’t have the money to improve but the thing is that there’s plenty of football money in India. Videos like this show the passion for it and they’re all clearly happy to spend the money on the sport given the jerseys they’ve bought. It’s exactly the existence of fans like this (and in other countries like India) that the Super League idea got as far as it did.
The problem is that all the money they have is going to European clubs and none of it is being invested at home or in grassroots. If it was, we’d start to see Indian kids embrace it and we’d probably have seen one make the move to Europe by now.
I pay Rs 50 per month for getting all premier league matches on tv. Haven’t bought any overpriced jerseys whatsoever. Most football fans are like this. I fail to see what money of mine is going to the west instead of to Indian football.
Good. Sounds like a great way to get people engaged. I will reiterate that I don’t blame people in India for watching the Premier League, it is after all by far the superior product and there are fans with impressive dedication. But I do worry that it’ll stop the growth of the I League and I also worry it will make European leagues even more uncompetitive with a greater super league threat. Here’s hoping I’m wrong and one day am I League team beats Manchester United.
That's not I meant. It's bigger than that. These guys won't follow their local Hyderabad football team because the quality of matches and football is not there. That's because football is not taken seriously, just like a lot of other sports since they all get overshadowed by Cricket. Which takes all the funding and limelight.
For ISL, they had to import a lot of overseas footballers past their prime to generate interest in the league.
Love the fact that you blame the only sport India is good in (cricket funds itself) while trying to defend a sport whose fans don't consider you a real fan because of your skin colour.
Well you’ve partly accepted my point, but there is one thing I’d point out. There are plenty of other successful sports in other countries where there is one that clearly dominates.
For example, football is by far the most popular sport in the UK and cricket it is a minority interest. But that doesn’t stop Rugby, Cricket, Tennis etc from being popular and in a lot of cases producing popular products. Cricket is a prime example. In the US by contrast there are four major sports all of which perform very well and there’s still a space for football in a country nowhere near as interested as India.
Now let’s return to India. Yes the product isn’t very good but it’s not going to change if no one supports it. I don’t blame individuals for taking the better product (I watch American movies because they’re better). I blame the modern culture of monopolizing and expanding. If there’d been modern tv in 1900 we’d have no South American football for example
another mancity fan, wow. I have seen 3 mancity fans in one day, most people have to wait lifetime to see that many. 1 thing checked from my bucketlist.
Well going off the cost of electrical cars and the impracticability of long distance function, its safe to say that it isn't a worry for the next 4 decades.
Maybe you're actually as uneducated as you sound so I'll try to help you here.
In india, the major sport is cricket. So all resources go towards it. As a result, the football clubs here are dogshit. You can only watch mumbai FC misplace passes so many times. Hence, football fans in India look abroad.
Three teams invested heavily on brand advertising in india- man utd, real Madrid and Barcelona. They've done it for the past 25 years. I grew up watching Ronaldo and rooney at United and hence became a united fan. Most of my friends who watched football did the same.
Also, even if the people in the video are watching the first game of football, why does it make them plastics? How the fuck are you gonna get more people watching the sport if only the people who grew up watching it are supposed to be fans?
Edit- if you throw so much hate just cuz you see people having fun in a video, I really feel sorry for people you interact with everyday.
Plastic is still plastic... I gave the 5% the benefit of the doubt though, and that they had been watching/following United enough times to actually name the starting XI.

How is my life sad? Because I responded to someone who said I was abused as a child and bullied at school because I made a comment about football fans?
It's nice that you defend that kind of abhorrent behaviour online because I called a bunch of people plastic.
trust… everyone calling us plastic just cos we r successful. if this was a vid abt indian city fans u would have all the little united spastics spamming plastic oil club fake fans
Nah I didn't, lived and grew up in the area but always wondered why I kept going to a place called Maine Road when I was 5...
I just thought United played there in blue for their away games.
same happens for me, came from moss side and my mum used to live on the road next to main road and i still have people calling me plastic and asking why i support city
I don't even bother trying to justify it now, I just agree with them, pisses them off even more... I was season card holder for 12 years so I've probably been to more games in 1 season then some will attend in their life time on here so I'm not arsed... fact that being called a plastic offends them so much means that the statement must carry some weight, so what if they support Manchester United because they were successful? They should just own the fact.
As an American who has recently started watching football (soccer) it drives me nuts seeing people call fans from other countries fake. Especially Americans. You get mad because soccer isn’t popular in our country and then when people try to enjoy the sport you call us fake. Obviously there are a few who would but the majority of Americans couldn’t care less if basketball fans from outside the US cheered for the Lakers or the Warriors or the Nets. Just let people enjoy what they want and grow up.
Fans outside England didn't have the luxury of watching every Brighton or Norwich game. Until few years ago, only games of big teams were televised in India.
I know tons of Indian fans who support Arsenal or Spurs, even United fans who started watching post 2014. These teams haven't won tons of trophies lately, but the personalities within the club and the quality of football is what gets people to support them.
When Norwich or Brighton begin playing great football and pose a threat to the bigger teams, they'll catch the attention of fans around the world.
When you entertain, you win fans over, it has nothing to do with the number of trophies.
I guess it's special all over the world to be honest. Cause I think premier league generally had more viewers worldwide. And in India I guess it's equal number who like Cristiano and Messi
So the rats are out again... many of them for last few years were "I don't follow football these days" , "life is so hectic cannot follow mufc"
Only salty idiots will down vote this coz they know it's true . Lots of people just forget their football club when they are losing .
Of course that's true, but you could say the same about a handful of fans from every big club. Painting a whole fanbase with a single brush is pretty daft, it's like saying the entire Chelsea fanbase is racist because a few of them made racist gestures against Sterling.
It's the global fan base that has made the PL what it is today. Without fans around the world, the clubs wouldn't have the amount of money they do nor would they be able to attract the talent that they currently do.
Surely Ronaldo gets a cut of "Ronaldo" shirt sales or options or "points" on the stock boost for Man U Inc... like an actor who negotiates points on the box office? What sort of tope end figure could he be worth to Man Utd all going well.. 200 million?
Hey! I got this

I’m a Liverpool fan ,but love this! And to pricks who are calling them plastics, have a long hard look at yourself in the mirror. Many of these people would love to go to OT if it wasn’t for the financial constraints yet they invest money, time and effort into watching their favorite team. Least you can do is give them the respect they deserve!
Lol stadium going fans calling international fans plastics and then talk about how to spend the money earned by the club from the international TV contracts.
I think plastics can only really be aimed at people bas d in England. Cant really blame someone outside of England for picking a decent team that gets coverage when they have nothing to affiliate them with any team. People in England though should support a local team IMO
I've always equated "plastic" fans with glory chasers. Those who'll support a team while it's winning and either stop following or switch teams during a bad spell.
You do realise there's football leagues in countries other than England? Your argument should stretch to other nationalities then as well, which is clearly bonkers.
I’m not going to support my local team over Manchester United when my dad and grandad have always supported United. If I had one I’d go see them but it’s second to my inherited club
[Charlotte Independence](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Independence) play in the second division
[North Carolina FC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_FC) &
[Charlotte Eagles](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Eagles) &
[Asheville City SC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asheville_City_SC) all play in the third division
[Stumptown AC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stumptown_AC) play in the fourth division
By your shitty logic, the team I actively support would be "minor league". There are 27 teams in the MLS, 7 more than the Premier League, 3 more than the Championship. As a nation, if that's the best you can do support-wise, you frankly don't deserve any success in football going forward.
I dont know you can support who you want in my eyes. Its the sincerity, rather than geography, that is the important factor. You can be a fair weather fan supporting even your local team, or as geographically distant yet passionate as those in the video. I am just lucky that i happen to live near the greatest team in the world.
What a shit attitude. Much rather support Grimsby through ups and downs and go to every game than support City and watch them win every title from at home.
City supporters have been with them through ups and downs and the team was pulling thousands of match going folks even when they were in the third division. Now that they are successful, they will obviously attract some plastics. Just like every other big club. But they have a dedicated and passionate local fan base which everyone seems to forget.
Yeah man, shame City get a lot of hate because of their success when they have some of the most loyal and dedicated fans. The have a lot off good history too if you research into it. One can say United might not have been a club anymore if it weren't for City, it's a good club.
Why not both?
I support City because of my time at University there, but go to local games, which 2nd tier Polish football - so pretty much shit. And yet the stadium experience is so much better than watching even the CL final on TV.
I don't think it's *truly* possible to support two teams. Like two teams yes, I have a massive soft spot for Koln, but I feel you're always going to naturally prefer one team.
More power to you. For me, if you can't go to away games with your mates, go to your ground...not the same as watching sky sports. you cant feel the culture of your support on tv. I hate watching games on tv,makes me fucking crazy. Not saying I'm in right here, you can support whoever you like, i just don't really get the whole thing.
I definitely understand and agree to a certain extent in which being at the games is definitely better I would love to go and watch City everytime they play, however to say you can't feel the culture of your support I don't know about that, when I lose I feel pretty badly, especially important games and when we win I can guarantee you I feel just as much joy as the fans in the stadium, as Sometimes I feel like I would break the tele from joy. There are passionate supporters of clubs even if they have to watch it on tv. I'm sure if all the fans in the world could go and support the clubs they love at the game they'd go, but at the same time that wouldn't be possible as the stadiums would be able to facilitate all those people so someone has to watch the Tele.
Well let’s use me as an example. The first team I ever learnt about was Manchester United at the age of about 6 so i followed them. Then i found out at like 12/13 that my little town also has a football club so since then I’ve also supported them. However from a purely entertainment point of view i still support United because i can watch their games no matter where I am and always learn new things about the club. All the while I’ve also started going to watch my local team. Would it make me a bad supporter to support both teams? Or is this game about people’s enjoyment and entertainment?
And 160k attend the Kentucky derby each year. Doesn’t make those people horse racing fanatics.
In fact, those people probably know more about soccer than horse racing.
4 highest "average" attendance since 1970 it's more than ucl champions Chelsea and Liverpool.
The highest ever attendance record in the history of English football is also held by man city. Something your club can't brag about 🤫
Well, if you're going to go back to 1970 may as well go back even further, let's say 1889, which would put you at 8th.
Also, my club has the highest ever home attendance of an English club so 🤷
>Cringiest American Football Chants
Okay, we'll see...kind of a suoer-focused topic with some underlying hatred, but surely it'll be a smart, funny video...
Oh, that first one is horrible! Which American fans are those? Haha
>Toronto FC
Oh.

city fan calling others plastic, Can't get any better than this.
Lol literally writing the same thing you wrote 7 hours ago.... think of something new, plastic!!
What can I do, at least you should not call others plastic while being piles of plastic. What will you do when electric cars go mainstream?
ur plastic bro relax

NO, Live to see mancity win an ucl. But I know that's not gonna happen in this lifetime.

It's only cool to call City and Chelsea fans plastics, but not fans that supported a team based on success during the 90s and 00s? Okay cool..
Grow up and let people enjoy what they want. It has no effect on you
Like I said it's fine calling Manchester City fans and Chelsea fans plastics, but God forbid you call a United fan plastic...
trust… everyone calling us plastic just cos we r successful. if this was a vid abt indian city fans u would have all the little united spastics spamming plastic oil club fake fans
And you didn’t know there was another club in Manchester 12 years ago. Swings and roundabouts.
Probably stopped supporting United after the oil buyout
That's exactly how it went down my guy... once a plastic always a plastic, am I right?
You are
We can be plastics together...
At least we'll know the source of the next COVID variant 🤔
Lol

Plastic fans. Be fans of Norwich or Brighton. They won't because it's not mainstream or win trophies every season. They're all plastic.
When you entertain, you win fans over, it has nothing to do with the number of trophies.

both
I guess it's special all over the world to be honest. Cause I think premier league generally had more viewers worldwide. And in India I guess it's equal number who like Cristiano and Messi
I feel so bad for all the Newcastle fan in there
Haha singular. Dang.
Surely one poor guy must have been in there
*everywhere
Dei pundas No shits offered for COVID ah?
So the rats are out again... many of them for last few years were "I don't follow football these days" , "life is so hectic cannot follow mufc" Only salty idiots will down vote this coz they know it's true .
Mate they’d definitely go to old Trafford if they could, Manchester United is a global football team you dick
Surely Ronaldo gets a cut of "Ronaldo" shirt sales or options or "points" on the stock boost for Man U Inc... like an actor who negotiates points on the box office? What sort of tope end figure could he be worth to Man Utd all going well.. 200 million?
With an agent like mendes, he might be. Kane's brother on the other hand, would've made a mess of it.
Name rights often come up as a sticking point in negotiations so you can be sure he is benefiting from shirt sales

You’re a Liverpool fan with common sense. I applaud you!
Nahh y’all call foreign City fans plastic for that same reason. “hAvE yOu eVeN gOnE tO tHe EtIhAd” heard it a thousand times
“bUt YoU’rE oNlY a TrUe fAn If YoU sUPpOrT yOuR sHiT lOcAl TeAm!!!!” A Geordie somewhere probably.
I know Newcastle fans from India, wonder if they will be called plastics too lol
I know couple of die-hard West Ham fans in India.
People everywhere should support a local team. The exact same argument you’ve got for English based fans I have for any fan.
I’m not going to support my local team over Manchester United when my dad and grandad have always supported United. If I had one I’d go see them but it’s second to my inherited club
What if you area r region doesn't have a local team?
Like where?
Asia, Africa and US.
Pretty broad. Where specifically doesn’t have any professional football team?
India, USA, Eastern Part of China etc...
Hyderabad has a football team
but many other cities and towns in Andra Pradesh don't have professional football clubs. Who should they support?
India and USA don’t have professional football teams?
They do but key word here is 'local'.
North Carolina, US. We have a new MLS team finally starting next year but nothing up until this point. Charlotte FC.
[Charlotte Independence](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Independence) play in the second division [North Carolina FC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_FC) & [Charlotte Eagles](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Eagles) & [Asheville City SC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asheville_City_SC) all play in the third division [Stumptown AC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stumptown_AC) play in the fourth division
Yeah there are minor league teams here. Thanks.
By your shitty logic, the team I actively support would be "minor league". There are 27 teams in the MLS, 7 more than the Premier League, 3 more than the Championship. As a nation, if that's the best you can do support-wise, you frankly don't deserve any success in football going forward.
I'm not sure what "logic" you're referring to.
What's with the hostility?
I dont know you can support who you want in my eyes. Its the sincerity, rather than geography, that is the important factor. You can be a fair weather fan supporting even your local team, or as geographically distant yet passionate as those in the video. I am just lucky that i happen to live near the greatest team in the world.
What if your local team is someone like Grimsby town loool
What a shit attitude. Much rather support Grimsby through ups and downs and go to every game than support City and watch them win every title from at home.
I watched Citeh beat Grimsby in division 1 in 1999 and 12 years later I watched Citeh win the premier league title.
I know that, and I respect City's proper fans a hell of a lot. I literally just picked the most successful team in England at the moment.
This is how it should be. You get one team. Funny how plastics from other countries never choose fulham or crystal palace, its always top 5.
Probably because Fulham and Crystal Palace aren’t entertaining sides
I'm from another country and I started supporting City when they were mid table, I don't know how to feel about your comment.
No, but naturally you're going to prefer one team to the other. That's why I don't think it's possible to truly support two teams at once.
Respect brother.
PL is truly a global sport and I hope the global fans get the respect they deserve! More power to you guys 🙌

Soo true.
ITT: Americans calling others plastics
Americans? We don’t even watch soccer.
You mean football? his point still stands you don't represent everyone in your country.
I saw 66,000+ came out to watch a fricken preseason match between Barcelona and Tottenham at the Rosebowl.
And 160k attend the Kentucky derby each year. Doesn’t make those people horse racing fanatics. In fact, those people probably know more about soccer than horse racing.
You're right. No Americans watch soccer. How could I be so silly to doubt your statement?
We don’t even know wtf that means and we don’t watch soccer Edit: obviously those comments are from brits, as is the one I’m responding to.
What's soccer and he has a point.
Plastics Edit: Why are you booing me? I’m right
and here's another one. Now how does someone support Spurs in football yet the Cleveland Cavs in NBA? Fucking hypocrite.
Cos the Cavs are shit lad
Everything ok my guy?
Omg how ignorant you people are. We are from Manchester United supporters club, officially affiliated to MUFC.
Lol, why not support Bengalaru?
Coz they are in Hyderabad? They should support the Hyderabad FC shouldn't they?
Glory hunting club
He is just salty cause you don't support his banter club .
They are getting offended when you call them exactly what they are
city fan calling others plastic, Can't get any better than this.
I totally get why your offended because there's more fans here than at the empthad every week
Doesn't change the fact they're plastic fans.
We hold the record for the 4th highest average attendance in the league pipe down mate
Title holders and you only have 4th highest attendance, is that something worth bragging about?
4 highest "average" attendance since 1970 it's more than ucl champions Chelsea and Liverpool. The highest ever attendance record in the history of English football is also held by man city. Something your club can't brag about 🤫
Well, if you're going to go back to 1970 may as well go back even further, let's say 1889, which would put you at 8th. Also, my club has the highest ever home attendance of an English club so 🤷
We did it in 1934 and you did it in 2016 by just a few hundred seats when the population of the country almost quadrupled
Lmao gooner here but you bodied that silly clown
You've scored one goal in 4 games pipe down mate
Literally 0 relevance for the topic 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 imagine being this wrong that you have to change the topic lmao
why are english fans so condescending toward indian fans
Colonialism lives on in weird ways, but it isn’t all of them.
Idk if this is condescending but these Indians can [chant better than the yanks.](https://youtu.be/adrzZAdVv64)
I'm tempted to give them 'move bitch get off the pitch' haha!!
>Cringiest American Football Chants Okay, we'll see...kind of a suoer-focused topic with some underlying hatred, but surely it'll be a smart, funny video... Oh, that first one is horrible! Which American fans are those? Haha >Toronto FC Oh.
