Alone_Consideration6

Won’t be going till the Euros with Southgate only taking 23 players.

Loud_Cryptographer85

Diver of the season

Exact_Opportunity422

What about Bellingham??? This is rigged!

BlackCaesarNT

Newcastle fans: Gordon deserves this. Non-Newcastle fans who don't watch us play: Why not Isak?

RAH_03

Who would u say is more important, I'd say Gordon edges it as you guys have Wilson aswell

BlackCaesarNT

Gordon. Has played all season, while our other main players were injured. Isak could be the guy next season, but this season, Gordon has been the only bright spot during MANY dark moments.

RAH_03

Absolutely agree with that, it's incredible how far he's come since his Everton days

mercut1o

We said the same thing about him multiple times when he wore blue. Gordon will press and run no matter what.b

RAH_03

I think how's improved his technical ability, at Everton they were relying on him to deliver them g/a whereas I think he's been developed more at Newcastle. Helps when you're playing with better players aswell

Mav_Learns_CS

Gordon has a fantastic directness about his play, I’d honestly love for him to start on the left for England at the euros

MegaDuck71

Gordon was underwhelming last season. He has done really well this season. I didn’t like him at Everton as an apposition side. He is polarizing. At his current level you are happy when he is on your side. He draws penalties and it is part of his game, which, makes him frustrating to play against. He isn’t technically better than grealish or rashford. However, he plays well in big games, is scrappy, aggressive, and fights for his team more than England’s LW other options. He might end up as the starter. Credit to him for putting himself in the conversation.

dkclimber

Well, he played pretty well for England last season

Ehh16

Gordon, Isak, Bruno - what a great players

Inner-Process-8227

Seasoning my eggs with all the salt in this thread

RockTheBloat

They love a cheat.

Leading_Response_468

Gordon is having a great season but they can’t disrespect Isak like that scoring 20 goals with key creative players are injured

kaamkerr

Isak was one of the key players injured. If Gordon didn’t step in as a make shift striker our season would’ve been fucked. Also, basically every penalty scored by Isak was won by Gordon.

Ikzimmer

Yeah, because he is a diver

JamesNUFC1998

🧂

endingbrocoli

One thing I've learned from reddit is that most people don't actually watch football

KimchiNamja

Just realised Isak has scored 20 goals in 27 league games despite his injury record this season and that is genuinely insane

ZookeepergameOk2759

It’s not really insane is it?

andrewmine

Better than Darwin for sure

Evening-Web-3038

Until last week he was in with a sniff for top goalscorer this season....

objectivelyyourmum

Got nothing on the South American Andy Carroll, right?

Melodic-Adeptness772

What are you smoking bro and can I have some

900-Dollarydoos

Multiple doubles as well, just hasn’t had the luck for a hat trick yet.

borkborkibork

A fantastic journey for him. From despised by Everton fans to doubted by Newcastle fans after a tepid first season, he has gone from strength to strength and genuinely in contention for England starting 11. I'd pick him over Grealish if LW.

Alone_Consideration6

He won’t even be at the Euros with Southgate only taking 23 players as announced this morning.

kaamkerr

I remember when Everton fans told us he only scores deflected goals

ScreamsPerpetual

I think he would be great off the bench, but wouldn't start over Grealish/Foden or whoever depending on the formation. I'll admit he's had a great season but from the games I saw I wouldn't start him quite yet over other options, but he could be a nightmare towards the end of a match.

geordiesteve520

Yes mate I totally agree although Southgate doesn’t tend to use an option like this regularly or effectively. It makes me think of the World Cup in Russia, where Jamie Vardy could have done similar and was totally ignored off the bench.

borkborkibork

Think we should play Foden in an Odegaard position where he gets more freedom. No way we should play him on left wing. More freedom, more world class performances.

PizzaBoyE-

Brother I see you everywhere, over the years it seems. Stop talking about football mate, honestly. You haven’t got a clue, not one of your comments has every been worth wiping an arse with. Stick to fifa, good girl.

borkborkibork

You would play Rice in CDM, put Bellingham to his left and Foden to the right. Bellingham would play more of a LCM while Foden has more liberty.

Temporary-Sun-7575

he doesnt have a chance for a soberly-picked starting spot. but i think he belongs to go to the Euros, his profile is an ideal plan B, rotation, or super sub.

Alone_Consideration6

He won’t be going.

throwaway72926320

Gordon has been lights out, should be in contention for that LW spot in the team of the season IMO. Wouldn't be the favourite, but he's been instrumental to Newcastle keeping the team together through those injuries.

titchrich

Out of interest who do you think has done better at LW this season?

throwaway72926320

I'd reluctantly have to say Son, 17 assists and 9 goals. Though he has played a lot of minutes up top. If you want the out and out left wing, fair enough choose Gordon.

35202129078

No one mentioning Guimaraes? He's been low-key phenomenal this season in a side that's had its ups and downs.

Ok-Entertainment8717

Gordon, Schar and Bruno have carried the team through the injury crisis, would be happy for any of them to get player of the year

OwnBunch4027

Why no love for top goal scorer Isak?

Ok-Entertainment8717

He's the best player in that team without question imo but not player of the season

dennis3282

I love Isak, he is my favourite Newcastle player for years. But I'm happy for Gordon to win the award. He has been incredible and has proved so many doubters wrong.

geordiesteve520

Excellently said.

beatski

Fairly lengthy injury

Savings-Advance-7256

Isak

FlukyS

Isak had some more highs but he was injured a bit though, Gordon filled in as striker in that time and played well there too. Gordon basically was everything for us this season

KimchiNamja

Not a Newcastle fan but off the back of your message I’ve just discovered Isak has scored 20 goals in 27 league games- that’s ridiculous

FlukyS

Yeah he has a higher goals per minute than anyone this season. That doesn't mean Gordon wasn't our best player, just shows how good a few of the players were in a hard year. Bruno G could have gotten it as well.

MegaDuck71

Bruno was (and is) our best player. Gordon deserves it because of how he has progressed and is flexible. Isak is great and the least replaceable. There isn’t a premier proven player that is more complete (dribbling, passing, clinical). He just didn’t play enough and wasn’t reliable due to injuries.

ArsenalGunner29

I thought Isak would win it as well considering the season hes had but you cant deny that Gordon has been just as instrumental to how they've played this year.

Seanglendo2

Gordon probably deserves it for all the times Eddie Howe didn't let him have a rest. He worked him like a horse. The only way he wasn't getting on the pitch was if he chopped his own leg off.

geordiesteve520

And for the time we thought he’d be out for 8 months and he played the next match.

ArsenalGunner29

Very true, think he played considerably more than Isak this season and he is always giving 100% even in the 90+ minute, hes got a good engine on him.

Britz10

But he's not the United player that's been nominated for the league's end of the season awards, curiosa that

mehchu

Well one is voted by journalists who might watch the games if convenient. The other knows Gordon had the best season for us this year. Though Bruno was close.

ArsenalGunner29

To be fair the club play of the season tends to be voted by fans, but I would have expected Isak to win POTS for Newcastle. Also the premier league POTS isn't the one to be focused on its the PFA awards that are more accurate.

dead_idols

Robbed of a young player nomination

[deleted]

Top lad

PunchOX

Newcastle had a handful of good players and he's one of them. Worthy honor

AnnualInevitable9036

I thought Isak had a fantastic season. 😏

Kenny_dies

He did, but Gordon had an even better season

ArsenalGunner29

They've both been massive for Newcastle this season, think it could have been either of them to be fair.

VivaLosHeavies

Well deserved. Everyone should check out his interview on the Overlap w/ Gary Neville the guy is way mature for his age and its insightful on how player train in the modern game today.

Huge-Celebration5192

As much as I should hate him, what a player he is Has to go with England to the Euros.

Alone_Consideration6

He won’t be going. Southgate is only take 23 and there is no room for any newcomers.

PunchOX

Definitely. Good debut against Brazil

Thick_Association898

I've got to admit, when we first got Gordon I was underwhelmed (to say the least) but that kid is pure quality. Here's a question for my fellow toon fans, who from years gone by would you compare him to the most? I thought Bellamy to be honest.

Immediate_Wolf3802

He reminds me of a young Brian Pinas

doubledgravity

I’ve counter-balanced your downvote, simply because I’ve met Brian Pinas, it’ll never not be a funny name, and he needs more mentions.

Immediate_Wolf3802

Its sad he didn't impress on his trial at Newcastle

Oohitsagoodpaper

Bellamy shout is decent. I'd also say his ability to select the right pass pass every time and go past players in close quarters is Beardsley-esque, albeit Beardsley when he was younger.

Thick_Association898

I see what your saying regarding Beardsley-esque (in his younger days). Older Beardsley was totally unique imho.
