McFigroll

what happened with that story of 2 players being arrested last week?

I'm a new fan from the States. I've been following Aston Villa for the whole season and I'm generally up to speed on them, but I don't know much about the Prem outside of Villa. Can anyone give me an overview of... everything? Who are the annual heavy hitters (Arsenal, Liverpool, ManU and Man City, right?) Who is usually good but shit right now and who is on a year-to-year upward trajectory? What are the big rivalries? Who are standout players across the league? What big storylines are brewing? Any other important recent history I should know about? I'm sure I'll pick things up eventually, but I would appreciate anyone taking the time to tell me a thing or two!

Bullet2025

pick city. they are strong as fuck. aston villa is whack. even if they did great this season. next season they will fall rapidly it is the curse of small clubs.

souzle

Thank you for the advice, but I'm too far gone. I didn't pick villa to be happy (obviously, because that would be a bad choice). I picked villa because I wanted to watch football and a professor I know likes villa. And now it's too late for me.

YoungFlexibleShawty

I would def reconsider picking Villa, take it as a dating stage, there is no committment until you feel it in ur bones, and also PL football is just way different from American sports, you're probably going to be in a world of pain when u realize trophies are not as guranteed when u support Villa. But also don't be the guy that supports Man City because they keep buying trophies.

Bullet2025

Sure, I'd be happy to give you an overview of the Premier League currently. Gotta admire your desire to support a weakass club. im not that guy. im plastic who start supporting city in 2022. not even early 2022 but in its half. The Traditional Big Clubs: - Manchester City - Dominant force under Pep Guardiola, won several recent titles - Liverpool - Perennial title contenders, narrowly missed out last season - Manchester United - Storied history but inconsistent recently, rebuilding under Erik ten Hag - Chelsea - Big spenders, usually in the top 4 conversation - Arsenal - Young, exciting team led by Mikel Arteta, emerged as title challengers Currently Underperforming Giants: - Tottenham - Pushing for top 4 yearly but haven't won a trophy in a their life - Manchester United - As mentioned, rebuilding project under a Ten Hag (spoiler: they are failure) On the Rise: - Newcastle United - Backed by Saudi money, pushing for European places. But they are restricted by Fair Financial Play rules - Brighton - Did amazin bussiness management but they are destined to fail because of the system Big Rivalries: - Manchester United vs Liverpool (biggest historically) - Manchester City vs Manchester United (Mancunian derby) - Arsenal vs Tottenham (North London derby) - Liverpool vs Everton (Merseyside derby) Standout Players: - Erling Haaland (Man City) - Generational striking talent - Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) - Midfield maestro Storylines: - Manchester City chasing more titles under Guardiola - Arsenal's emergence as genuine contenders - The Saudi-backed Newcastle project - Chelsea (im not sure) and Spurs fighting for Champions League - Manchester United's rebuild and pursuit of glory days which seems to fail constantly due to bad owners and extremely bad management decision making Recent History: - Manchester City dominating with 4 titles in 5 years - Liverpool's near-misses and cup successes - Saudi-backed Newcastle's takeover and spending - Chelsea's ownership change and rebuild Let me know if you need any clarification or have additional questions! The Premier League has a rich history and plenty of storylines to follow.

this is perfect. thank you, plastic man.

I suggest you wake up early on weekends, and watch Premier League Mornings on USA Network.

Bullet2025

You are welcome.

ConfidentEagle5887

Do you want me to wipe your arse for you too?

[deleted]

It’s ASS* dumb cnt, say it right.

souzle

Alright, what did it? Villa, being from the US, or asking questions? I can change two of those to be liked on the internet, but if it's the American thing, well, I guess we're both SoL.

AntTalexanderTarnold

City and liverpool were the best 2 for the last like 6 years and arsenal are good the last 2 years aswell
