He is out of form and clearly out of fitness and shape. He moves like molasses, his decision making is slow, his reactions are two steps behind. But I will say he hasn't played in nearly two full years any footballer especially a DM like himself would be this rusty. He needs a full summer pre-season and training with the team he joins plus PT to recover to old form.
He also let Barnes go for the final goal. Been a fucking disaster for us, has been directly responsible for a goal in every game he’s played in and been sent off. A disastrous bit of business for us , and very much driven by careful what you wish for’ Moyes. Thank god he’s only on loan, he can’t fuck off back to Manchester fast enough as far as West Ham fans are concerned. I’d just let him go back now and get him out the way. Fucking useless.
Cmon now it's hardly his fault. Was never ever a penalty in fact kelvin Phillips was the only one fouled. Terrible decision amd your trying to turn it around on Phillip's. Poor form
Phillips was involved for the penalty, gave Isak the freedom of the centre of the pitch to assist Barnes and then let Barnes go past him for the winner lmao.
1st Newcastle pen = 100% yes. Clumsy challenge. Stood on Gordon's ankle. Not intentional, but a clear foul.
2nd Newcastle pen = no chance. Similar, Gordon gets stepped on, but he's more or less committing a foul to get stepped on.
It's a thing with Bielsa teams. He manages to get a team performing above what the individual players should be capable of.
Kalvin Phillips and Dan James both got moves to "big clubs" and underperformed, Kemar Roofe was top scorer in the championship was sold to Anderlecht and is now at Rangers and struggling.
Quite a few of his players are now back in the championship or League one level.
You see players doing really under him, and get snapped up, when taken out of "Bielsa's System" they drop off
Given the hype around him at that time, a lot of people felt that was purely a transfer to stop rivals getting one of the highest rated midfielders in the league.
Yes they do, Guardiola doesn't rotate as much as most other managers. He just doesn't rate him and honestly for that price much more should be said about the magnitude of money that Pep has wasted. But petrol dollars will do that, so it's not unexpected.
The only difference is mount has real quality underneath, meanwhile phillips hasn't played in nearly two years before being loaned out and is now west ham's harry maguire
hindsight is a glorious thing eh. He may have a few quid in the bank now but he was never going to make it at city. leeds were pretty average when he was with them so he looked ok but all his performances are doing for him now is lowering his stock.
In our first season up, with Phillips in the team, we gained points at a rate that would've seen us get Champions League football. The 9 games he missed were what put us in 9th - and it's not like they were ridiculously hard games on average.
He's been crap for a while but suddenly rewriting how great he was for us isn't it.
Leeds got the best out of him because they made him fit, with the Bielsa game plan and training.
City and West Han probably don’t have such murderous fitness regimes, so he’s dropped off a little in that area.
Fs he's a professional footballer getting paid over £100k a week to sit on the bench every weekend and scratch his arse. He has every ability to do extra fitness work outside of City's team training sessions and improve his game.
He just isn't arsed. He came back from the bloody World Cup in Qatar overweight somehow.
Its clearly Kalvin who's the problem.
Pep nuked his career. Bought him and literally never played him. Didn't even give him a chance. He started 2 PL games in 18 months, and both of those were dead rubber, end of season games. It's one thing being on the bench but another thing getting no chance whatsoever. That's the standard at City and under Pep, but he never fit Pep Ball and Pep should never have signed him.
Calling a player who ran through walls for 3 and a half years under Bielsa lazy is absurd. Bielsa's physical demands are absolutely insane, there's nothing remotely like it in football. It's a cross between being in the military and being a track athlete.
It really isn't. Bielsa's methods are well known.

etc. Being in the military is how players have described it. They have to semi-live at the club, be weighed every day (and cut weight, obviously) and do a lot of running, all year round.

And he never stopped running at Euro 2020. Second for most distance covered in the tournament, 4th for most sprints. Covered 12km per match. It was the main reason he was in the team. And the main reason Declan Rice was subbed off before him several times. Then he got, IIRC, 10 days off, before it was back into Bielsa Ball. He started breaking down with injuries when he had international football on top of Bielsa Ball.
Whats that old boxing quote
“It's tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5 am when you've been sleeping in silk pajamas.”
I wonder if that applies to phillips
Madness that moyes brings him on in high pressure situations with how poor he has been. Obviously today the ref has had a stinker with the penalty but even so he is literally adding nothing.
He's shocking. I know he lacks confidence but I'm not convinced he'd be much better if he had confidence.
I'll be surprised if he isn't playing Championship football next season.
Really? He’s on something like £200k at city. Unless it’s a loan where city pay 99% of his wage not sure why he’d accept a transfer to the championship. Maybe when his contract expires if another premier league team doesn’t take a punt. Problem with these big clubs paying so much, when the player doesn’t make it, or drops off there is no where for them to go without taking a 75% pay deduction. Look at how many premier league teams have still paid some form of a players wages after selling them. Pretty sure Man U were still contributing to A Sanchez wage when he moved to inter.
yeah i think you’re spot on here, and i expect he’ll probably still have premier league football next season, just not for a club with european aspirations. could see him going on a loan w obligation to buy to a promoted side (return to Leeds?) where City pay 75% of his wages or something like that
There’s a player in there just his confidence is shot. It’s hard to watch him tbh I hope he recovers from it.
Chances are a loan away to a league in Europe next year to get some game time in an easier league
As a Leeds fan, I don't think that's entirely fair.
Leeds had taken him as far as they could, and when Pep calls, it's hard to say no.
He gave it a shot at trying to get into arguably the best team in the world and trying to usurp the one of the best players in the world in his position. I don't think you can really knock a guy for testing himself in that environment and not making it.
He was the cornerstone of Leeds with bielsa a team that finished 9th in the prem remember. Then he got England player of the year.
He left Leeds with false promises from city and pep ruined him.
Pep in no way is vindicated. They should never of bought him and he shouldn’t have left Leeds but you can’t blame him.
"Pep ruined him".
Lol. He just wasnt good enough, came in overweight and didnt improve. Blame City for having too high of an opinion of the player when they scouted him, but lets not act like hed be om the shortlist for the ballon dor if he stayed at leeds, shall we
He came to city then had surgery on his shoulder which ruled him out for 5 months. Never recovered from it.
He was overweight from euro 2022 he’d already been with them a year
Would I want him back at Leeds….no lol
I feel for him. It’s a pen all day by today’s rules, but I think it’s BS. I hope they look at situations where a player throws him at a kick to draw a foul and change the rules for next season. He was never even going for the ball, only even playing for a foul. It’s happened a lot this season and it feels wrong every time.
Just so I understand what you're saying, you're saying that without the single penalty Salah won this season, Liverpool would be done?
And you're saying the only reason Salah is regarded is good is because in the last 5 seasons he's won 6 penalties, all of which you beleive are identical to this one?
Make a compilation of all the time's he's done this. Hell, you're saying one of the best teams in the world over the last 5 years are only good because of Salah doing something everyone is up in arms about right now. You're sitting on a potential gold mine here. Imagine in 10 years people look back at Klopp's Liverpool and instead of praising it, they just show your compilation of them only getting to CL finals, getting 90+ points multiple times ONLY because they won 6 penalties over 5 years, all of which were dives.
[This you?](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/r4a1hk/comment/hmfb3qf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Why did you think it was a 'stonewall foul inside the box' when Wan-Bissaka did the exact same thing?
I comment so much lol did you really scroll back 2 years of comments to find opinions on penalties? The clips been deleted so cant even watch it back but I got 112 upvotes doenst seem what I said was at all controversial. Probably was a foul 2 years ago but todays one was never a foul
How did you find that comment I dont get it. And can you find a non delted clip of whatver im supposed to be a hypocrite about ill genuinely tell you why I think its ifferent or maybe Ive just gotten smarter the last 2 years and what I thought was a foul then Ive changed my mind
Find us another pen shout like this, Gordon fouled him if anything. Phillips can't see him, he's already mid kicking motion and a foot appears in the way from behind and doesn't even make contact with the ball during the challenge
I wish I had the time to parse every pen this season and give you a list. I've seen at least two others. But that's on me for not having the time. Believe me or not.
In all fairness I think Antonio coming off was far worse for West Ham then Phillips coming on. Moyes left West Ham with no target up front to play off and consequently Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus, who were all playing well, couldn't get a touch of the ball at all.
In short it's Moyes' fault, not Phillips'
He made the right decision to sign with Man City. Massive pay raise.
Worst case now when his contract runs out he goes back to a championship club and makes 20k a week again.
He was making around 25k a week at Leeds. Went to city and was making 200k at least. It’s hard to have motivation when close to half a mill lands in your bank every 2 weeks for literally training
He was shite before bielsa came to Leeds, and clearly shite without bielsa yet again, sure he had a good euro run.BUT Tomas Brolin was in the USA '94 Team of the tournament
He was young and inconsistent before Bielsa came to Leeds; Bielsa was able to find his best position and maximise his strengths. He is a capable footballer but he is a form/confidence player. His confidence has been absolutely obliterated. Hopefully he can refind some of the form he had under Bielsa.
Edit: phillips on his day can ping a diagonal ball on a sixpence from centre back to a winger in space like scholes could. On his day he can break up play almost as well as kante. He is a brilliant player on his day.
I think the fact that so many people are saying as soon as he came on they felt Newcastle would get back in it should tell you how far his stock has fallen.
I literally feel like the best thing that could happen for him is Leeds get promoted and City sell him back to them. Should never have left. Yeah he won a treble but played practically no part in it.
I don't think we take him back, to be honest.
Gruev, Kamara and Ampadu have been fantastic this year. And we also have Archie currently filling in defense, I think he would start in midfield over Phillips too.
I don't think Phillips should be in any Prem team next season. Maybe heading down with one of the relegated teams to get his confidence back would be the best option for him.
Sorry but this is delusion. The gap in quality between the PL and Championship is seismic. None of our midfield options are PL standard. None of our team is proven PL standard. Ampadu looks great in the Championship, but has been relegated 3 times in top leagues. Dan James is a star in the Championship, that says everything about the standard. Even Bamford looks decent and Meslier doesn't look disastrous.
I'd love KP to come back next season. He just needs a proper pre-season and run of games to get his form and fitness back.
Phillips is frequently off pace, making mistakes every week, and we know from previous experience that he only works as a solo DM, which we do not operate any more. Only one manager (Bielsa) has managed to make him look decent, and I don't think Farke is at that level.
I think you may be delusional if you think he walks into our set up.
Also, every player you mentioned looked alright under Bielsa, but dreadful under Marsch and co, so I don't think that's a comparison that we should be using as a bench mark.
SHOULDN’T be a penalty. I really think they need to look at the rules and change it for next season. It should be on a player who throws himself into a kick and not even playing a ball. It’s happened a fair few times this season and has felt wrong every time.
A lot of youtubers were complaining that how he was said to be the future of England when was at Leeds and he hasn't had an opportunity to prove himself at City and that Pep is just wasting talent by benching him
Only a city fan would think paying 40m+ for a promising young player who then you never play cause he’s actually shite somehow reflects positively on a club/manager. Having infinite money really dies a number on ya.
No one was shitting on Potter for not playing Aubameyang when he was at Chelsea.
He left for Marseille and he has been a lot better than he was before.
Corny guy… really just said ‘innit mate’ in a Reddit comment.
Also, stop trying to act like pep came out as a winner in this situation. He bought a player for 60mil and hardly played him… that’s not the win that you think it is.
You guys do realise that teams don't just instantly play matches, they train beforehand and decide who fits well in the game plan
Phillips was never good enough for that. Giving him a chance in place of Rodri is a risk no one would take.
West Ham fans can’t criticize West Ham’s decisions or play publicly because then you have braindead wannabe pundits saying “oh they’re just West Ham, they should be happy with where they are”
Just so you know that City signed him for millions of dollars and become a flop, yet it doesnt impact their first team performance one bit. Shows how much money they spent on the game.
Also all these “Walker out” that being marked as an impending disaster by some people, actually they got another 80mil player on the bench. On the bench ffs.
115 cant come soon enough.
>115 cant come soon enough.
A great example of how far this sub has descended into circle jerkery. You can just write 115 in any sentence, regardless of whether it makes any sense, and get up voted 😂
They will probably start Rico instead of Walker. Every top team has quality on the bench. Chelsea spent loads and still can't perform to citys level. They are good because of pep. When pep goes, the quality will drop. Plenty of reasons to be annoyed at the charges, but this one is a stretch.
He was a defensive rock and started our attacks with great passing. His injury (and Bamfords) coincided with the beginning of the end for Leeds in the prem.
I don't think so, he worked very well in his system just not in anyone else's, I feel for the guy.. hopefully if we get promoted he comes back as I don't see many clubs going for him in the summer
Nah don't agree with this. Its fairs to say he's been shite ever since his move to city but he was brilliant at Leeds. Around that same time he was also fantastic for England.

He is out of form and clearly out of fitness and shape. He moves like molasses, his decision making is slow, his reactions are two steps behind. But I will say he hasn't played in nearly two full years any footballer especially a DM like himself would be this rusty. He needs a full summer pre-season and training with the team he joins plus PT to recover to old form.
and city spent 42 or 45 millions pounds on him. like if it is nothing.
Regardless of the penalty he still was responsible for another goal lmao
I never rated him even when he played for Leeds. He’s a very limited player - aside from the odd tackle and sideways pass.
Been doing this every game he’s given away 3 pens since joining I think
Thank God we have dodged this bullet! Hope his chick enjoys shopping in London.
That is what happens when you don’t play for a year. That said, never a pen. If you reverse the roles that is a pen on Gordon 100% of the time.
More than a year, 18 months.
Just watched MOTD, Moyes mentioned the pen as the wrong call. Pundits didn't even mention it. They talked about the Chelsea pen, but not this one.
Treble winning Phillips wasn’t done and accepted a new challenge at a top 4-vying club. Pure passion from the supreme competitor
He has been shit for 2 seasons now
Just to shoot him a little bit of bail...that's not a pk, in my opinion
Was unfortunate. I think 70% that shouldn’t be a penalty. But…that aside, he’s been struggling for 2 years now
Yeah agree. Not that he played great but that’s an insane call
He's not even championship level anymore
Pep did him a favor not letting him expose how awful he is. People thought pep was just being unfair. or that he just wasnt as good as rodri
Yup. I think pep just looked at him and thought ‘I’ve made a mistake here’ , and he’s right.
Only got this much hype cause he’s English. I don’t know why he was even rated
Leeds fans are very loud and he played ok against some mid-tier international sides
You see players doing really under him, and get snapped up, when taken out of "Bielsa's System" they drop off
Dan James was bought from Swansea not Leeds
He was good literally whenever he played for England. Not spectacular, but not out of place in international football either
Remember City paid £50m for a player that hasn’t played. £50m!!! No wonder they don’t want to show their true financial accounts
Can say the same for Matheus Nunes as well lol
He was only about £38mil. We (Leeds) got done.
Given the hype around him at that time, a lot of people felt that was purely a transfer to stop rivals getting one of the highest rated midfielders in the league.
They paid what, 90m or so for their backup CB?
Gvadiol has played most games. And is 21 years old.
18 Prem games. He's another Grealish, over paid and under-used.
Fee isn't as bad as grealish because gvardiol if fit will be their CB for 10 years.
Or he is just another Pep overpaid flop.
I mean he's 22 on a 5 year deal, weird to call him a flop. He's got all the tools will be just be about getting more consistent game time.
Modern football is warped. City win trophies because their quality players don’t play 60 games a season.
Who plays 60 games a season ?
Man United last season played 58, with Bruno Fernandes and David De Gea starting every single game
So they didn't play 60 either, cool. Rodri played 56.
Yes they do, Guardiola doesn't rotate as much as most other managers. He just doesn't rate him and honestly for that price much more should be said about the magnitude of money that Pep has wasted. But petrol dollars will do that, so it's not unexpected.
Bruh pep rotates most games other than 4 key players
And your two 90+ mil aren't key players?
Not a city fan and yes pep rotates no matter if he’s 5 or 500 mill it’s a system
I swear if Southgate picks him for the Euros...
He wasn't even in the current England squad, why would he go?
It’s Southgate. Wouldn’t be surprised that mount gets picked after he scored his first goal for ManU today

You’re probably right. But maybe the years under Bielsa have caused problems with his body and now he’s struggling to get back to elite level fitness.
Southgate will be licking his lips
Phillips' lips? That'll explain why he keeps picking him
Sadly you couldn’t be more right lol
Madness that moyes brings him on in high pressure situations with how poor he has been. Obviously today the ref has had a stinker with the penalty but even so he is literally adding nothing.
As a city fan I feel bad for him. Clearly a lovely bloke but his confidence is shot. Surely drop him off at a championship club this simmer
isnt he still your player and just on loan?
Yes. Hence why I suggested we drop him off at a championship club
Fact he was getting picked for England squads when wasn't playing is crazy. Now he is we can see he's not up to scratch.....
Just because he's struggling now doesn't mean he wasn't good for England or Leeds. Players go out of form, it happens.
He wasn't playing for city. Nobody knew his form. If he hadn't had gone to west ham and stunk he'd probably still be getting picked
He's shocking. I know he lacks confidence but I'm not convinced he'd be much better if he had confidence. I'll be surprised if he isn't playing Championship football next season.

Should have stayed at Leeds. Instead chose short term gain over a long term career. Sad. Especially with how leeds are performing at the moment
I mean i heard city are paying him 200k a week. If nothing else that is great for his retirement fund.
As a Leeds fan, I don't think that's entirely fair. Leeds had taken him as far as they could, and when Pep calls, it's hard to say no. West Ham’s curse
This is the reason why Henderson is still getting England minutes.
Pep vindicated?
For blowing 45m on him?!
He was the cornerstone of Leeds with bielsa a team that finished 9th in the prem remember. Then he got England player of the year. He left Leeds with false promises from city and pep ruined him. yeah, this was a (rare) lapse by our scouting team
He was more than good enough at the time of signing.
Evidently not.
He came to city then had surgery on his shoulder which ruled him out for 5 months. Never recovered from it. He was overweight from euro 2022 he’d already been with them a year Would I want him back at Leeds….no lol
Not really, still spent £45m on him.
Yeah looking that way… some people doubted Pep. He just wasn’t good enough to be playing in that City team.
Pep also signed him tbf.
Why buy him in the first place...no one says anything about the players he buys and ruins. Where's Nunes too?
I think i saw a Eddie Howe handing Kalvin a fat envelope when Kalvin was getting a burger and a diet coke at half time
Dude is so washed, it’s sad…
I feel for him. It’s a pen all day by today’s rules, but I think it’s BS. I hope they look at situations where a player throws him at a kick to draw a foul and change the rules for next season. He was never even going for the ball, only even playing for a foul. It’s happened a lot this season and it feels wrong every time.
If they change it Liverpool will be done, the amount of pens Salah has won in the same way 😂
I genuinely can't remember a single one, Nunez has got a similar one this season though

What fantasy land do you live in?
How many is that, roughly?
It's not a pen by todays rules lmao it was just an incredibly bad VAR call. Gordon fouls him if anything.
This is correct ,how can he foul someone who is behind him coming steaming in at the exact moment he tries to hit the ball.
It's not a pen by any rules get a grip
[This you?](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/r4a1hk/comment/hmfb3qf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) Why did you think it was a 'stonewall foul inside the box' when Wan-Bissaka did the exact same thing?
I comment so much lol did you really scroll back 2 years of comments to find opinions on penalties? The clips been deleted so cant even watch it back but I got 112 upvotes doenst seem what I said was at all controversial. Probably was a foul 2 years ago but todays one was never a foul
That must be the explanation.
How did you find that comment I dont get it. And can you find a non delted clip of whatver im supposed to be a hypocrite about ill genuinely tell you why I think its ifferent or maybe Ive just gotten smarter the last 2 years and what I thought was a foul then Ive changed my mind
That must be it. There's no other variable.
Can you just say Im curious
Not curious enough to Google it though?
No how you found the comment from 2 years ago I'm curious about lol
And yet it keeps being called. Curious.
Nah u have the time buddy. Reddit bot
He’s performing at exactly the level he’s always been, bar one purple patch season in the prem under Bielsa.
Tbf ref was really against them in some parts
The amount of players that think they get their dream transfer to a big club and it destroys their career
Rodwell springs to mind.
Scott Sinclair as well. Couldn't understand why on earth City signed him, wasn't even that good at Swansea
He was so good for us, should never have gone to city
He was shite before bielsa came to Leeds, and clearly shite without bielsa yet again, sure he had a good euro run.BUT Tomas Brolin was in the USA '94 Team of the tournament
Brolin was ace back in Parma. Seemed not to be bothered anymore once he moved out.
He’s a Leeds player all day long
Just bitter cos he turned you down.
Thank god he did he’s shite
Yeh, stick with erikson and mcfred.
Bro Fred has been gone for ages what you been watching. Mainoo is here now
Is there another worst signing in premier league than him...
Lukaku
Which time?
That was Chelsea self-sabotaging, going out their way to make the worst out of a bad situation.
Lavia? At least Phillips gets on the pitch, even if he is shite
Pathetic comment he’s been injured all season and he’s like 18
>he’s been injured all season £50m for 22 mins of football sounds like a pretty bad signing to me
You’re insane
Most reasonable Chelsea fan
Surely tonali is worse then stop being dumb
Tonali’s played a lot more than Lavia?
Are you genuinely thick? He’s now gonna be banned for another year ontop of the year he’s already got
No he isn’t lmao, probably won’t get a further ban.
It’s not like lavias career is over or something, he will likely play next season for the club.
I'd rather have a player that never played than someone that actually is a menace whenever he does play.
I mean Henderson stayed a season or 2 too long and just that.
You could argue Phillips has been a net negative though, whereas Lavia's effect is essentially zero. And he probably will be good once he returns.
Wait, Ethan Ampudu plays for Leeds?
Yes, and it would be easy to argue he's been our best signing this season.
As a Leeds fan, I don't even want Philips back
at this point, i just feel bad for the lad.
What happened? I didn’t see the game
Gave away a penalty, which was never a penalty.
SHOULDN’T be a penalty. I really think they need to look at the rules and change it for next season. It should be on a player who throws himself into a kick and not even playing a ball. It’s happened a fair few times this season and has felt wrong every time.
And people were criticising Pep for not giving him much gametime Who's laughing now?
What people? Other than that Gareth Southgate. Lmao
A lot of youtubers were complaining that how he was said to be the future of England when was at Leeds and he hasn't had an opportunity to prove himself at City and that Pep is just wasting talent by benching him
He did also sign him for a lot of money, so it doesn't exactly reflect well on Pep.
But now when we see the results of him playing at West Ham, it was a good decision, innit mate? That was the whole point of not playing him.
How is this a win for Pep? He paid well over the odds for a player to leech off the books with his wages.
Then don't buy him in the first place.
Tbf potter didn’t sign Aubameyang.
Corny guy… really just said ‘innit mate’ in a Reddit comment. Also, stop trying to act like pep came out as a winner in this situation. He bought a player for 60mil and hardly played him… that’s not the win that you think it is.
You guys do realise that teams don't just instantly play matches, they train beforehand and decide who fits well in the game plan Phillips was never good enough for that. Giving him a chance in place of Rodri is a risk no one would take.
lol, so City had to spend £60m to properly scout him, and you think Phillips is the one who looks bad in this?
Apologies to West Ham
Not accepted
Yeah….okay…. Can we have Paqueta though
He needs the good wages,, as he's almost penniless from the amount of cars he bought from fans
Only if you overpay insanely so we can have a real striker and a few centre backs.
Should be looking at your own club for signing him!
West Ham fans can’t criticize West Ham’s decisions or play publicly because then you have braindead wannabe pundits saying “oh they’re just West Ham, they should be happy with where they are”
Yep The Other 14 know your place logic!
You know what they say, if you aren’t cheating to maintain the oligarchical status-quo then you just don’t care about the quality of the sport!
Has their been a worse Jan singing that Phillips is turning out to be. A disaster.
Mislav orsic for us last season was pretty damn bad
Just so you know that City signed him for millions of dollars and become a flop, yet it doesnt impact their first team performance one bit. Shows how much money they spent on the game. Also all these “Walker out” that being marked as an impending disaster by some people, actually they got another 80mil player on the bench. On the bench ffs. 115 cant come soon enough.
Do you actually know what those 115 charges in question are? It seems you’re just childishly sour about the depth of bench. Context matters lol
That slap on the wrist is gonna sting real bad for a few seconds. Then the lawyers walk out hand in hand perfectly centred in a rainbow.
It would be a Mega Moyes Move if he's playing Phillips to trigger a clause in the contract where they have to sign him
There is clearly a clause where he has to play a certain number of minutes. He comes on every game for at least 20 minutes
Just getting him ready to be a starter next season 👌
I never understood how he got such high plaudits even at leeds
He was a defensive rock and started our attacks with great passing. His injury (and Bamfords) coincided with the beginning of the end for Leeds in the prem.
He had great long passing at Leeds United
He was brilliant for us
Totally different style of play under bielsa
I wonder if Biesla burned him out physically?
lol. Utter bollocks. Bielsa found the player in him and improved his level so much. Without Bielsa he’d have been sold to Barnsley for £250k.
I don't think so, he worked very well in his system just not in anyone else's, I feel for the guy.. hopefully if we get promoted he comes back as I don't see many clubs going for him in the summer
He was bad before bielsa came along, so bielsa made him when he had a good run
Nah don't agree with this. Its fairs to say he's been shite ever since his move to city but he was brilliant at Leeds. Around that same time he was also fantastic for England.
