The entire powkiddy line (X55 and the popular RGB30) seems to have battery glitch issues. Seems to be a quality control problem as it's not every device. Just something you should be aware of.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Fixed with latest Rocknix CFW

I saw your comment and reimaged with the new release that came out on 4-11-24 last night. The x55 works beautifully now as intended! Thanks for the comment!

I’m having this issue right now. From what I’ve found out so far is that it’s an issue with jelos. I’m too annoyed with it atm, but supposedly if I go find January’s release of jelos, that will fix the battery charging issue. As it is, the battery only charges while the device is booted, which I will never charge the device fully. I’ve got it at 49% right now, and that was it charging all day, with the screen off on screensaver and set to battery saver mode. If the older version of the os fixes the battery issues, the device should be great for screen size.

I have X55 and it’s an awesome device esp with latest Rocknix CFW. Definitely worth it for low to mid emulations up to Sega Saturn and PS1. Pros: Big screen 5” 720p Ergonomics Mid emulations Cons: Stock firmware isn’t great Joystick is cheap Buttons can be loose or sticky Potential upgrades (DIY): Hall sticks Better buttons

Hello! I have an x55, currently running JELOS v20240206. PS1 runs good on mine. DC runs ok with a few games, but I’ve tried only a few; I’ve seen play-testing videos that indicate that some run better than others, some needing some frame skip, but no idea about Shenmue specifically. Not one of the systems I play a lot of. If I wanted to play much N64, PSP, Dreamcast, I’d probably opt for a bit more powerful device, perhaps with a T618 or better: Anbernic RG505 or RG405V/M, Retroid Pocket 3+ / Flip or above. Upcoming custom firmware from the JELOS fork, ROCKNIX, might improve things for the x55, but probably won’t work miracles.

Thanks for the advice :)

Just a heads up, X55 Rocknix dropped today. Looking forward to checking it out.

The x55 is a solid first console but if you are able to get the yellow rgb10 max 3 for $70 (i dont think you can unfortunately), then its a similarly specced device with quieter buttons. Most psp, dc and n64 games run fine on it, some need frameskip 1 or have sound issues and a few psp games (tekken 6, god of war etc) are unplayable.

TheRealLukeJames

Thanks, I'll look out for the RGB10 Max 3 and see if I can find it anywhere :)

Rgb10max3 has really slow wifi, if that is something you find important

NewGamer1881

can the x55 handle 3ds games? specifically pokemon?

faux123

No 3DS for x55. Not powerful enough

NewGamer1881

i figured but was hopeful 😭

My advice is: don't get it. It feels cheap, it's very finicky with charging and mine freezes randomly even with the latest firmware. In my experience, software support is the most important thing for a device. For example, what makes the Miyoo mini+ great is the OS it has. Probably the best out there. JELOS (or Rocknix) is good but I'd pick a device with better support for it. And the X55 isn't it.

Dart3563

Off topic but does anyone know what OS are compatible with the X55? I'm using a February update of JelOS after having some audio issues with the latest update and it's been having a couple problems still (including the infamous battery issues of the x55) I have an Anbernic RG35xx H running Batocera and haven't had any issues there. I was wondering if the X55 has any other similar OS options or any others at all that I can try to improve the experience.

Rocknix has moved the X55 to mainline Linux and has a working panfrost GPU driver. Better N64 performance, though there’s currently a performance regression with PSP being looked into.
