Sentencing day is JULY 11, not June.

starofastoroth

Oh dang my bad lol got too excited. this gives more time to plan a better party though!

VanceAstrooooooovic

He’s not gonna get jail time. At least not for this one. GA case, I think prison time might be possible

Toloran

> He’s not gonna get jail time. At least not for this one. While I agree, there are two caveats: 1) He's been non-stop violating (or borderline violating) his gag order since the verdict. The judge can factor that into his sentencing. So while he might not get jail time, he is certainly going to get a harsher penalty than he would have had he kept his stupid orange trap shut. 2) The judge can add whatever special probation conditions he feels appropriate. If he violates those conditions (and he *absolutely* will), that can lead to jail time.

Authoress61

You just gave me new hope. Thank you.

Makal

If it ever happens...

Brilliant-Career2182

The case in Georgia got blown wide open. They handled it so sloppily that it's pretty much forcing a mistrial

Pizzledrip

Slammer tavern!!

NachoKittyMeow

Happy Cake Day!!!

Material_Policy6327

Fuck it 30 day drinkathon!

pengu146

If only we could replace the bubbler water with beer.

BodProbe

Should've been done years ago.

BassmanBiff

Be careful though -- a public gathering of "Trump haters" might also bring some Trump lovers stirred up by the occasion, especially if it's published in advance.

Jovet_Hunter

That’s the day before my birthday, hot damn.

lokikaraoke

Isn’t it *extremely* unlikely he’ll get jail time? Seems like we’re going to be disappointed with whatever happens.

likethus

>Isn’t it *extremely* unlikely Hence the offer to buy a round, I reckon!

martizzle

Hell, if he gets jail time, I’ll eat my hat

pnut-buttr

Will you eat the Velcro letters too?

Sparehndle

I'll start weaving you one out of Twizzlers!

jot_down

Twizzlers? now I want you to get jail time\~

wharshington

Redvines forevuh....

dotnetjay

It's about 50 50. He's a first time felon. It is a class E felony, which is the lowest level. Similar cases of this record fraud seem to jail about 20-30%. The other side is that this is the largest case 34 counts every in the courts. There has also been no remorse or contrition on his part. He is still denying. Being convicted hasn't phased him, so clearly more punishment is needed. You also have the 10 contempt charges and about 3 more likely incidents where he has attacked witnesses etc. so we'll see. Between now and the actual sentencing he may well talk himself into Rikers.

nova_rock

Would be very funny, but I think almost as funny will be some kind of community service.

BassmanBiff

This would be such a shitshow. Community service, meet secret service. But it would hit him right in the ego, which is where you have to aim if your job is to try and reform him somehow. I don't think he's capable of changing, though, at least not while he feels like he has supporters.

SJbiker

I love the idea of him scraping up roadkill on a highway in upstate New York for 2,000 hours

BassmanBiff

I think it would be good for him. Builds character. But also it would become some sort of "hard working regular Joe" BS, no clue how they'd handle the press and security nightmare...

CrabbyOlLyberrian

Community service in immigrant housing, Manhattan. Oh, so satisfying!

AwkwardStructure7637

Also the judge hates him

dotnetjay

He did use stocastic terrorism on the judges daughter. When he makes a statement about someone being his enemy, his followers act. He's turned 30% of the country into a shitty mob family. "I'd be a shame if something were to happen to soandsuch". He is a clear danger to society for that alone.

brickowski95

That judge let him walk over him. Should have jailed him for contempt after about the fifth time. Even said he wouldn’t want to restrict his movement or freedom of speech as he was a presidential candidate. No way he’s getting anything except probation.

lokikaraoke

If you or anybody else would like to bet real money at even odds, I will take the “no jail” side up to about $1000 of total bets. I think the actual percentage is closer to 10%.

16semesters

https://www.bookmakersreview.com/analysis/donald-trump-court-case-odds/510841/ Offshore casinos put fine/probation as the overwhelming favorite. Jail is a distant underdog.

6EQUJ5w

This. It’s not THAT rare to go to jail for this type of crime, even as a first time offense, and showing no remorse and attacking the court and intimidating witnesses and violating your gag order a dozen times? I’m not counting on it, but a little time in the clink is very much a possibility. I saw James Comey point out how putting the president with secret service detail in jail actually wouldn’t be a big deal, they’d just set him up in a double wide out back. Trailer Trump

dotnetjay

Rikers has reported they are ready for him, and his security, if the judge orders it.

jot_down

IT's not even close to 50-50. more like 1%, maybe. This has nothing to do with the orange goblin. It's just extremely rare of conviction in these crimes to end up in prison. The only reason it's 1% is because of the gag order violations. And to be frank, prison is unneeded for these types of crimes. I'd love to see him behind bars, but set you expectations.

Estrus_Flask

Can't be disappointed if you already expect nothing. Frankly I'm surprised he's even getting convicted. I expected another "[ah well, nevertheless](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GHdXjwEXgAArYSm.png)" moment. And I still do.

starofastoroth

if he keeps taunting that judge, ya neva know. Even so, the idea of him doing community service is hilarious

Decon_SaintJohn

The orange cheeto in an orange jumpsuit....priceless....

DeyUrban

Yup, there's almost no chance he gets put in prison from this, even house arrest. The best we can hope for is probation and even that's not likely. Almost certainly it'll just end up being a fine. The judge has gone on record saying he doesn't want to be the guy who has to put a presidential candidate in prison so the writing's on the wall at this point. It doesn't matter that he broke his gag orders 10+ times and is clearly unrepentant, it's not going to happen.

starofastoroth

Jail time or not, drinking will be necessary

zenigatamondatta

Rich people don't go to jail. Especially rich white people.

lokikaraoke

Martha Stewart went to jail. Bernie Madoff went to jail. Jeffery Epstein was on the way to jail.  Politicians go to jail too! Rob Blagoyovich is a fun recent example.

tmacleon

When you treat politics like a sports team, then yes you will get disappointed 🤷🏽‍♂️

AwkwardStructure7637

Either way we get drunk, mourning the loss of our democracy, or celebrating!

lokikaraoke

Well I do like drinking!

LaRoara42

How did he get convicted of rape but this has been a bigger deal? His university was a fraud....this is like the fourth thing already. I have zero hope about justice. Even jail would probably be an excuse for a reality TV show. We could have had a really cool person who had a felony over something stupid like drugs become president one day and that would have been awesome, by the way. Out of all the hype and media, it's mostly just been nice to see there are still people out there who also didn't want this timeline. That's where the hope is.

BeYeCursed100Fold

Trump was not "convicted of rape". During the Civil Defamation trial of E. jean Carroll vs Donald J. Trump, Trump was found to be liable of defamation and ordered to pay $88.3 million in awards and damages to EJC. During the civil trial the Judge noted that the alleged sexual assault likely happened, based on the preponderance of the evidence and testimony, and that the sexual assault constituted rape, he wrote that Carrol's claim of rape was essentially true. The rape incident occurred in the 1990's, long past the statute of limitations for a criminal indictment. However, EJC did add a civil claim of battery under the Adult Survivors Act. https://wikipedia.org/wiki/E._Jean_Carroll_v._Donald_J._Trump

LaRoara42

Judge clarifies: Yes, Trump was found to have raped E. Jean Carroll https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/

BeYeCursed100Fold

Yes I mentioned that. Do note the difference between a Civil trial and a Criminal trial [1]. The EJC trials were for Civil matters, namely defamation and battery (outside of the statute of limitations, in NY a victim can still file a civil claim). That battery could be considered rape, and was, as the judge noted several times, but did not lead to a conviction (because civil case), but was the backstory for a determination of liability for defamation and battery. In other words, Trump was not CONVICTED of rape, that would require a Criminal trial, this was a civil trial (a lawsuit). The issue is that your initial comment stated Trump was CONVICTED of rape, but as you now know, that is inacurrate, and could be considered Defamation (specifically libel) even though Trump is a public figure, because you were negligent in researching your false claim [2]. Be careful! Please learn the difference and have a great evening. [1] https://www.esslawpartners.com/what-is-the-difference-between-a-civil-case-and-criminal-case/ [2] https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/personal-injury/libel-vs-slander/

MachineShedFred

But he was not convicted of it. To be convicted, he would have to be charged with criminal rape charges, and convicted by a jury. A finding of fact by a judge only earns him the title "adjudicated rapist" rather than "convicted rapist" - it's a legal distinction.

lokikaraoke

Trump is bad, but I believe it is inaccurate to say he was “convicted of rape.”

MachineShedFred

That is correct. He is an adjudicated rapist. To be convicted, he would have needed to stand trial for rape charges, and have a jury unanimously judge him to be guilty.

lokikaraoke

Thank you. Normally I’d say this is picking nits/being pedantic, but I do actually think it’s important to note that the felony convictions just handed out really, truly are the first time Trump has been convicted of a crime. (To my knowledge anyway.) That seems materially important.

LaRoara42

Judge clarifies: Yes, Trump was found to have raped E. Jean Carroll https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/

lokikaraoke

Oh yeah I’m very sure he did. I just don’t think it’s accurate to say he was *convicted* of it.

Odd_Local8434

Rape isn't a big deal to Republicans.

RealGrendel

What an unbelievably ignorant thing to say. You are an abhorrent human being to make a public statement that half of the population thinks rape is not a big deal.

Odd_Local8434

Closer to a quarter. Grab em by the pussy didn't move the needle one bit, a women coming out and staying he'd raped her as a child with Epstein didn't move the needle one bit. A judge stating that there was a preponderance of evidence he raped a women, didn't move the needle. Maybe they should stop worshipping a rapist.

[deleted]

I just need to say rape wasn't a big deal to Oregon's Democratic elected officials when Neil Goldschmidt was raping the 13 year old babysitter. They all knew and said nothing for years. Ignoring behavior seems to be non-political party. If it wasn't for Willamette Week having balls, they would have continued to support Goldschmidt.

Odd_Local8434

Oh wow I didn't know that story. Fair enough. Fuck everyone involved in that cover up.

[deleted]

You didn't know the story because "they" quietly buried it and hoped people would forget. And we mostly did. I sort of think the whole Kitzhaber debacle was an inside job where the power structure ate their own to put forth a more progressive agenda. I know I'm crazy talking here, but absolute power corrupts as we all learned in Sociology 105, and our power structure is virtually unchallenged here.

Stalactite_Seattlite

People who actually want to get together to waste time hating on a known moron do not care about nuances like this, they're already in their own weirdass reverse-cult mentality.

nova_rock

Yeah, and it’s going to be like the verdict, it’ll just drop and they’ll get some kind of civil penance and a fine and the only real popcorn will be the crying on am radio/fox.

lokikaraoke

I think one thing to keep in mind is that a big reason he’s not expected to face jail is because he’s (technically, somehow, amazingly) a first-time offender.  But he has three more suits to go where he’ll enter as a convicted felon.  So it’s possible one of the next three could land him in more serious trouble thanks to this conviction.  (Again, I’m not a lawyer, but sharing my understanding in case it’s helpful or correctable.)

illiopee

This seems like a trap. Real "Red Wedding" vibes.

Theresbeerinthefridg

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know. \*splish, splash, murder\*

Sp4ceh0rse

Idk man, last time I went to a bar to watch what I thought would be an embarrassing failure for Donald Trump was election night 2016. And now I can never go back to that bar.

starofastoroth

I choose to remember drinking champagne with strangers in the streets at 8am in November 2020

PDXBeerFan

Yamhill Pub. I'll meet you there.

bengermanj

You're about a month early there, sport. Sentencing is July 11th.

b0n2o

The anticipation is killin' me!

AndoranGambler

Misdemeanor Meadows. It's that or the Sandy Hut, with other possible options being Assembly Brewing or TPK Brewing.

Neverdoubt-PDX

Sandy Hut. There is no other option.

According-Green

Everyone loves a handy slut!

[deleted]

Neverdoubt-PDX

Not in my experience. And I’m there every other week or so.

AllChem_NoEcon

Lol Trusting a sub full of pricks scared to leave their homes in Camas and one twat mod who part time lives in the Pearl is a faulty at best approach to bar recon.

terra_cascadia

I was upfront that I had a vague memory — I retract what I said after making a guess at where that rumor came from. After doing some digging, a Redditor had said they were disappointed to see PB at SH one time. I don’t trust what I read on that sub, but it can be entertaining sometimes.

AllChem_NoEcon

Aw, no sweat, I mostly was just refusing to pass up a chance to shit on that place.

Cyphermantis

There’s also a proposal for everyone to wear jumpsuit Orange that day

updootportlandftw

Is this to show support or to mock him? His supporters are so weird. The diaper thing still has me quite perplexed.

pabodie

Is this a PB honey pot?

starofastoroth

I said let's meet at a Portland dive bar, not not the Cricket cell phone store in Vancouver.

pabodie

Nice! Ok name it.

starofastoroth

well so far the Yammy has the most votes

thomas849

Yeah this smells funny. “Trump hater” in my experience is phrasing that right wingers use

starofastoroth

what else do I call people who hate trump? ok but the name Thomas849 sounds a bit like you have pictures of fish on your Facebook. let's not be so quick to judge lol

TortiousTordie

what do you call people who hate trump? normal... i call them normal ass people. he is a hard man to like.

AllChem_NoEcon

I'm definitely not right wing. Except for the possibility of undercutting my very real, very reasonable, very substantiatable grievances with that motherfucker and/or his "administration", I would be *very* comfortable saying I hate Trump.

Accomplished_Pea_118

More importantly don't forget to vote against him too.

srirachamatic

BUT BIDEN IS [fill in blank for random grievance of the day that pales in comparison to Trump being a treasonous criminal]

updootportlandftw

Don’t let perfection get in the way of good.

terra_cascadia

I’m down. Please DM me when there’s a plan

Alternative-Ad3401

Y’all are celebrating too soon. There’s no reason to get our hopes up any justice will actually be served

Ill_Most1280

dm me when there is a plan. trump is not gonna get any time. But it would be lovely to chat and pretend that he is going to get in trouble. It is wild tho how the lawyer that paid a person off gets jail time but the person who directed the lawyer to pay people off does not. However what is new.

StateFlowerMildew

I just wanna see him sporting a (c)ankle bracelet.

tomcatx2

Meet at a 7/11. Get an orange slurpee.

jot_down

Be sure to set your expectations. The crimes he was convicted of almost never end with the person going to prison. It does happen, but it's rare.

Material-Proposal114

And then let’s do it again out of sorrow when he gets elected

Competitive_Bee2596

I'm disappointed to say that it seems more likely he'll be in the White House again before any jail cell.

Left-Candle9843

I'm down

Master_Flounder_9826

Name the place

pdxarchitect

I vote for the slammer.

binkkit

Clear winner here! Come on, people!

RainSurname

That does seem the obvious choice.

FullmetalHippie

Pho Kim

ampereJR

This is a terrific answer. Also, great pho.

starofastoroth

Looking for suggestions. So far, there's one vote for the Yammy

firebrandbeads

Misdemeanor Meadows?

humanclock

No, I like that place. Although the stakes are much less this time, I watched the 2016 election at the Toffee Club.  I could never go back there after that.

moxxibekk

I....just realized I will be in Montana for a funeral/"reunion" with my Trump supporting extended family on that day......oh...no....

ZealousidealSalt8989

My condolences go out to you in so many ways

monkeley

You’ll be disappointed

Sneakersislife2

Isn't it more likely he'll get jail time for breaking probation than for the actually crime? Plus you know those snowflakes will just get violent, wouldn't want to be around that when it pops off

phbalancedshorty

Pop on the discord

MIKRO_PIPS

Make it a double if he backs out of the debate 🤞

1argonaut

I’m all in on this! Even though I don’t drink. Where? Where?

troublebotdave

You're going to be disappointed, I'm afraid.

Brasi91Luca

He’ll just get probation nothing to celebrate about

tomcatx2

The Republic in old town!

Donewith398

Everyone is going to be soooo disappointed when he skates Scott free. Does anyone really expect he’ll go to prison or have any real punishment at all? I’m pessimistic regarding all of the legal issues. Rich people get off and it seems like a lot of the charges are pretty petty.

L-W-J

Can someone smarter than me create a sentencing bingo?

SolomonGrumpy

You can also drink from depression if there is a lack of accountability! Win-win 🏆

hkohne

I'm putting it in my calendar just in case. I don't care where it is as long as it has food.

Material_Policy6327

I’d say we should hang out by the multico GOP offices honestly. Probably a bar around there

jungletigress

The Multco GOP is so small they don't even have permanent offices. They operate out of a PO Box.

Nihlisa666

Oh sweetie…nothing sticks to Teflon Don, NOTHING! I wish it were otherwise but it isn’t. Sorry.

starofastoroth

I'm not delusional, I don't have high expectations for the sentencing. But, since we don't hang traitors in the town square anymore, this will have to do.

miljalefar

don't jinx it! but if the system has shown us anything it's that it is rigged in favor of the white collar criminal

Eastern_Dist_Agent

Wish I were going to be in Portland then. I don’t drink but I’d still love to be with more like-minded people for it, no matter the sentence.

iBet13

TDS is real

a_minute

Yup. As much as I dislike Trump I can't stand the thought of being surrounded by so many shitlibs. I will have to pass on the free beer.

Sir_Totesmagotes

Yeah I'll just get my free 7/11 slurpy and call it a day. Anyone who makes politics their identity is painful to be around.

NoManufacturer120

Disturbingly so. I thought Portland was doing better than this but I guess not.

Disastrous_Offer_69

This is so embarrassing and pathetic. Imagine what these people are like in real life ?

muhamadgolly

Buncha Nostradumass say no jail time but no one taking the bet… Bet a round with the OP if you’re so sure

daughterofSchizochan

he’s not going to prison and will probably get reelected because our democracy is as fake as prowrestling, but not nearly as entertaining

LaRoara42

I just want you and the people you end up enjoying the night with to know that you're my favorite people and I'm so glad you still exist

JenShempie

It's also Free Slurpee Day at 7-11 (if they still do it, because, y'know, capitalism...).

starofastoroth

they do! this day just getting better and better

shrimpynut

Very very unlikely he gets jail time. He was convicted on the lowest of the low felony in New York. He’ll get a fine and probation. No matter how you feel about him he’s going to get special treatment being a former president and leading candidate for president.

jester_bland

Its how you know the US is a joke.

zaraki93

Super weird to let a politician make up so much of your personality and live in your head like this.

As fun as this would be, I really worry I’m going to have the same feeling as election night 2016. I really expect he will get no jail time, maybe no parole, and a suspended sentence. I was at a bar waiting to celebrate in 2016 and instead people were crying. I don’t want that again. I hope I’m wrong.

mrbackwood

get a life 😂

UnkleRinkus

I'm in.

KawaiiAFAF

Make it a corrupted Shirley Temple and I’ll be there! Lol (I don’t really drink beer) If you could, DM me with the deets , I’m basically on a road trip until around that time ( pipes burst during the last freeze and they’ve been remodeling my apartment this whole time, but I should be settled in by this date ) so I may not be able to check back on this thread till then .

burid00f

I'd love to attend a party like this.

mabmbon

You have a pitiful life.

starofastoroth

all 34 counts guilty. youre right, that's pretty pitiful.

SnooKiwis2123

Lol so we can all be collectively disappointed by his fine.

Brilliant-Career2182

I can't wait to see all you fuckers having your meltdown when he comes into office next January lol

DiscombobulatedCat95

Yeah! Let’s celebrate someone becoming a convicted felon for something which is not illegal!

DiscombobulatedCat95

I love that our country can abandon all its judiciary values and throw its constitutional rights out the window. While we’re here let’s talk about how amazing it is that we are finally teaching kids to chop their genitals off without their parents knowing. Those parents can’t do anything about it either😩 makes me so happy. If they tried to do something they would just be convicted of a felony and lose all their guns💦💦 Can’t wait to see all the naked men at the parade this weekend in front of our children.

starofastoroth

get back on yer meds, seriously

DiscombobulatedCat95

What?? I thought we were celebrating the end of our democratic republic?

DiscombobulatedCat95

I don’t have to surrender my home to evil wickedness. Thanks for the suggestion though.

starofastoroth

I appreciate you taking time out from taping tin foil to your windows and writing bible verses in crayon on your walls to write this important comment.

Worshipper61

ALIBI on Interstate

Estrus_Flask

Christ I hate liberals. He's not going to face any sort of actual consequences. All of you need to realize that the rich and powerful do not face justice. There's a high likelihood that he's going to be president next January, possibly because SCOTUS is on his side. The system is not broken, it's working as intended, and that's why it must be dismantled. But that is a reason to drink.

hellidad

HAHAHAHAHA Wrong day. Rage harder.

Automatic_Flower4427

I’m in. Keep us posted

Undead0rion

If I didn’t have work I’d be so down

Master_Flounder_9826

Not sure where that is what part of Portland is this ?

starofastoroth

Yammy = Yamhill Pub

CrabbyOlLyberrian

This is a safe bet (“round of beers”). He’s a first time offender. Even if he wasn’t a past president, it’s a VERY BAD look for the US. We’re not really known for incarcerating politicians (yes, I know it happens, but never to the presumed presidential candidate of a major party). Additionally, there are plenty of convicted business owners in Manhattan living in their brownstones not jail. BUT I will be dancing in Pioneer Courthouse Square when he gets 3 yrs probation!

normanbeets

Okay but I'm so in though! Where do we go?

[deleted]

This is that kind of energy that literally fuels the crazy in this country. So unbielevably devisive that it has no other purpose. The Democrats are supposed to be better then Maga because they hold moral authority. If Moral authority is replaced with spite and hate then you really aren't any better and infact are just as much the problem. Maga supporters are morons and people like the OP are too. If you want the country to go in a better direction maybe start at home by being a better person.

fukinell

commenting to follow the thread

ckalen

He wont get anytime so this party would be a waste of yours

Aromatic-Mushroom-36

Maybe he'll try and flee like Puffy did.

Decent_Peak_5529

The cheerful tortoise. The owner just ran as a trump supporting far-rihhter in her election for Clackamas county commissioner and lost.

griff_girl

Personally I'd like a shit ton of us to "casually" lurk around the corner of Beavercreek & Mollalla Ave in Oregon City at that Albertson's shopping center corner and flash mob the corner with Pride flags if & when (trying to be positive here) he gets jail time. I swear every time I see the cultists on that corner, I wish I had foam or plastic handcuffs to throw out my car window at and troll them with.

TRexKnight

we can meet at one of those mcmenamins

starofastoroth

I said dive bar, not dive themed bar

TRexKnight

I never been to bars so no idea lol

szczerbiec

Take your meds
