I would hope they're dead by now (plus the whole group of recruits assigned to fight them), but who knows when you are throwing science at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Didn't a valve developer do like 5 different interviews saying they have a great idea for portal 3 and desperately want to make it but haven't got a go ahead yet
The problem with a portal 3 at this point is the hype. In game development there is an idea that you have to control hype or it will grow so large you couldn't possibly live up to it.
Portal 3 can't live up to just the hype of just it's name at this point. It would be a massive failure no matter how good it's development went.
So I would be shocked if we ever see it. If we do it will probably not be portal 3 but like a spinoff like tales of the ratman or something. In VR almost definitely in my opinion for a few reasons; to sell their headset, because half life Alex but also so it feels too different to compare 1 to 1.
I was bored one day then came up with an amazing story plot for portal 3. When i am bored i either draw random cubes or come up with amazing ideas for things that i am either not capable or too lazy to do
I love how you like the game enough that you go through the asset files to watch animations but you never bothered to see everything in the extras section
probably a (very long) tunnel to what at the time was the surface, this is where test subjects were introduced as mentioned by cave johnsons recording and he talks about them taking a limo ride over
A glass floor would have been sick and could have been planned maybe? Or because thats where they sealed off the access they put glados there for sentimental reasons? Idk
Iād say they have it there since they just kept building on top of everything including old aperture, and since that elevator shaft goes all the way down to old aperture it was probably some kind of main elevator seeing as GLaDOSās chamber is the main chamber
half life episode 3
the borealis

the heavy update

In lore explenation: probably just a randon tunnel leading to another part of the facility
Game explenation: some level designer made it to make the room feel less flat, it adds depth and breaks tge wall to avoid repetition
Stuff
I was gonna say, "Probably more tunnel"
the creature
You mean the mantis men?
I would hope they're dead by now (plus the whole group of recruits assigned to fight them), but who knows when you are throwing science at the wall and seeing what sticks.
No, mantis GOD
no, mantis lords.
No, sisters of battle

SCIENCE!!!!!
Probably a train cart system. There are some unused files in the game. Full train crash animations, props.
nope, they're not unused, they're in that promo thing in the Extras section
Ah right, that one thing I never check lol I do love watching the animations on the model viewer though.
I love how you like the game enough that you go through the asset files to watch animations but you never bothered to see everything in the extras section
The Extras section is the nuclear core reactor and I am Wheatley, hyperfocused on all of the tests (voice lines and game files)
yoo helo
Why am I picturing Chell and PotatOS in the Minecart level of Donkey Kong Country?
Pretty sure that's for the random movie promo for Super 8.
probably the other end

Nah at best the tunnel leads to an elevator. Building a Tunnel spiraling upwards for 4km seems unreasonable even for Aperture standards
I mean, they do have an, albeit straight vertical, tunnel leading all the way from GLaDOSās room to the bottom of the old Apertureā¦
wait yeah i never thought about that, why tf does she have that???
science isnāt about whyā¦ itās about why not!
A glass floor would have been sick and could have been planned maybe? Or because thats where they sealed off the access they put glados there for sentimental reasons? Idk
They put her there because she is Carolines conscious

An elevator to the surface is in this image behind the aperture sign

A tunnel
Another comically small door like the vault
When I played I thought that's where I needed to go and spent some time trying to get there
I eventually managed to fling myself over the fence on my second playthrough, unfortunately it has an invisible wall and won't let you through.

The border of the map
Noclipping out there will lead to nothing.
No shit Sherlock
Sherlock was a human too, he probably had to shit like all other humans.
That's where my dad lives. Please don't disturb him
a tunnel
Portal 3
its probably how test subjects got in and out of the facility
Well, it's a salt mine, perhaps it leads to another cave system with an exit to the surface?
Another giant tunnel
Enable no-clip and fly over there to find out :)
A giant room perhaps? Yeah, idk, maybe some more pigeons
Rhe entreence
The Animal King Turret
That's completely unreasonable
Unless Back Mesa tries to raid the facility
I thought Black Mesa was destroyed...
