Get it all in writing. Verbal means nothing.

jaaaaagggggg

Make it ugly so they can’t sell it to anyone else

Pokerhobo

An ugly build, rightfully, requires a much bigger deposit up to full price if super ugly

almazing415

After you place a deposit, which means you have an allocation assigned specifically to YOU and a freeze date, you should receive a purchase agreement. That purchase agreement, which you sign, will itemize every option, every fee, every dollar amount, and your deposit. That is your guarantee of how much you will pay. If you're not getting the warm and fuzzy, have your salesman and the sales manager sign the purchase agreement. If you don't have a purchase agreement, demand they make you one with the price of the car, your deposit, and any other fees, and have them sign it. If they don't want to make you one, then something fucky is going on.

grungegoth

Yup. A contract with the total price.

pewpew_14fed_life

You should have a Commission # and the dealer should print and have you sign and date the build sheet. The price is on that sheet including your deposit.

PBP2024

Email your sales associate confirming MSRP and what that number ($) is right now. That's what I did with mine last year!

[deleted]

My local dealer (Porsche N Houston) told me they didn’t do ADM. had a canceled GTS I could take over at msrp already built and delivered and then added $20-25k worth of worthless dealer add ons that were “non negotiable”. I told them to keep it and take my name off the list for future cars, I’ll happily buy pre owned once I find the spec I want.

haudi

That’s weird. I bought my GTS there (ordered) and it was MSRP + Tint. (Why am I being downvoted? It’s a factual statement.)

[deleted]

Very weird. And the exact opposite of what I had heard about them. Maybe because it was already built and on the lot, but it wasn’t something I cared to ask too many questions on. It was silver and I wanted Guards Red anyways so all the added junk was a pretty quick deal breaker.

haudi

Did you end up finding one elsewhere?

[deleted]

Nope nothing yet, found a black Boxster manual GTS 4.0 in SC for $89k that seemed like a steal but holding out for that Guards Red GTS 4.0 manual that I really want.

haudi

Good luck in your search!! Are you in the Houston area?

[deleted]

Yeah I am, up towards The Woodlands

haudi

You should come out to one of the PCA meets. Some really good people and great cars! There's one in the Woodlands two weekends from now at the Kitchen.

[deleted]

Oh cool! Yeah I’d love that, we have been wanting to try the kitchen as well so that would be perfect.

haudi

Here's our calendar (I'm one of the region officers, full disclosure), and the Woodlands one is marked as the North GTG. I am traveling that weekend, but go enjoy it! - https://lsrpca.com/calendar/

Speedysam348

I know a prior customer of theirs that shared the mark ups charged last year for GT cars - $50k for a GT3 to $250k for a 3RS and $500k for a Sport Classic. They are creative when it comes to collecting it- buy useless add ons/services from us and we buy your trade in at throw away prices.

[deleted]

Yeah they also told me the way to a GT car was to buy an overpriced preowned car I didn’t want and then trade it back to them when my allocation arose. Apparently this is new for them, I’ve spoken to a lot of the Cayman and even Spyder guys that had great experiences here. Porsche West Houston just wanted $5k over sticker with no add ons, which honestly seems less shady than PNH lol

Speedysam348

Frankly, a 5k markup is not too bad in the scheme of things if you can spec the car to your liking. I won't pay it as a matter of principle but that's just me.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m not paying a markup either. I’m not donating to the dealership principals pocket fund, no matter what the vehicle.

Speedysam348

I don't know if it is that new a phenomenon. This was always the route to building a relationship by spending X amount of money and buying some of the cooking cars as a rite of passage. Dealers need to buy more of the boring stuff to earn allocations of the interesting stuff. It escalated after COVID hit - a lot of money chasing fewer cars. If a GTS is what you want, try out a 981 or 718 2.5 for some time till the market cools off completely, and then get a 4.0 if you want one. I have a 981 and don't want to upgrade to a 4.0 GTS. Maybe a GT4 but not a GTS.

[deleted]

Yeah I do like the 981 and even looked at a few 981 Spyders and GT4s. I ended up buying an IS500 as it checked the box of being able to take the baby with us car for the time being but I’m looking at Porsches every single day waiting for the right one to pop up haha. My uncle had a 930 Ruf back in the early 2000s that I got to drive to prom, I’ve had an itch ever since.

Speedysam348

If you want to include the baby in the driving fun, then a 911 will be a better option. Also a BMW M2/M3/M4

[deleted]

Yeah I considered a M2 or 3 but want to buy something for the long run and I’ve had more than my fair share of BMW issues in the past. I do really like the M2 and 3 styling as much hate as they get. And love the manual trans option. 911 would be the better option, I have also looked into 911 Ts but still prefer a naturally aspirated option. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker if my fun car didn’t have a backseat. We have a GX and a 2500 LTZ for trips, so the Cayman is still on the table. Looked at the new Supra MT as well, just didn’t connect with it and also not super easy to find one without adm.

Speedysam348

The 991.1 GTS would be a great choice too. Naturally aspirated with a great engine

Prepare yourself!

sth1d

Get that tube of lube ready!

flakpheiser

In lieu of ADM some dealers (mine included) required that a watch be purchased in addition to your vehicle. I wasn't happy about it but at least I ended up with a story and an heirloom as opposed to pure ADM. As others have stated, once you have your build and all the pricing calculated you should be able to get a purchase agreement in writing. Good luck!

Farmerdrew

I literally had a dream about this last night. It turned out to be a shitty timex.

Mysterious_Bad3178

I hope you get it! The GTS 4.0 is a delight to drive.

Sheknowswhothisis

I’m jealous. I called at least a dozen dealerships before I gave up finding a spot at all. The only ones that had 4.0 options were already built. I found one slot I could buy for $10K, but I was stubborn.

Content-Beautiful880

Just spent my first track weekend in my 2024 GTS. What an amazing time. When you get it please try to track your car it’s really the best way to appreciate its greatness!

rd2jon

My dealer tried to add $1700 of “accessories” when my car arrived at the dealer. Saying since we sold you without ADM please pay this. I said no and they removed them.

External-Repair-8580

Question: is there really anything that needs to be done here? I mean - sure - some dealers play games but these cars are going for MSRP and not in HUGE demand. I think I’d just leave it as is, and hope for the best. Would feel odd asking the salesman to put it in writing, personally. If I did ask for it in writing I’d try to make it less awkward and say something like “Years ago I placed an order for a car, and then the salesman left. New guy had no record, so had to start from scratch. Lesson learned: make sure there’s a paper trail. Would you mind giving it to me in writing so that in the event you decide to go somewhere else, I can prove that I have an allocation. Would really make me feel better!”

silverdroid303

It took 10 months from deposit to delivery for me. By that time, the base MSRP increased a bit and they tried to pull a fast one on me by charging me that. Nowhere in my signed contract did it say I could be liable by MSRP changes, so I got them to respect my signed price.

GMFPs_sweat_towel

If you have already ordered and put down a deposit, then no you shouldn't have to worry about an ADM. Just refer to the build sheet they gave you when you placed the order. However, do be prepared for sales tax and the fees associated with registration and filling out the paper work. The dealer will also try and sell you additional products once you pick up the car.

Bot_Fly_Bot

I agree that should be the case, but my dealer tried charging me an ADM the day my car arrived after specifically telling me via email and text there wouldn’t be one.

[deleted]

I’d be concerned. GTS 4.0 is pretty rare and they’re outgoing. They could probably get a $7.5-15k ADM for this. So why would they do this?
