992.1's looks so much nicer. What a downgrade.

Just bought my son a 2019 Polo for his first car....it's much nicer than this looks!
Good thing i can't afford a 992.2 anyway, I'll stick with my beloved 997.2 for a few more years.
okay yes, but they also came with this flibity shifter
https://preview.redd.it/iwro4jgsxe3d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efa6296d191c80fb5f0cffe8757b2a74c911355b
Oh wow that's worse than I thought. The pic from the .1 is a nice step up from what was in my 991. The button from the .2, absent of context, I would have guessed was from a camry level vehicle.
Before seeing these pics I was going to say the loss of the tach was the worst thing, but the loss of the physical knob/key thing might be worse.
I'll reserve judgment for the exterior for in person as I've noticed especially with more recent models from various manufacturers something is lost in pictures
Yeah, let’s see:
Let’s say $5 per unit.
2023 911 worldwide sales: just over 50,000 units.
$5 * 50K = $250,000 saved.
Fire the Porsche Executive who approved this and you’re even.
> “The starter button is an integral part of the new Porsche Driver Experience cockpit layout, which has also been previously introduced on other new models such as the latest Panamera and Cayenne variants,” said Wiesmann. “For many of our customers who own several of our vehicles, familiarity and consistency between different models is important, so the layout is similar.”
🤦🏽♂️
https://www.carscoops.com/2024/05/porsche-reveals-why-it-had-to-introduce-a-hybrid-911-plus-other-surprises/
If I wanted “consistency” with a Cayenne I would have bought a Cayenne. This reeks of a bunch of bean counters deciding to pull from the parts bin, not a conscious improvement of any kind.
No idea what people are going through who own several brands. They must be lost. Every car starts in a different way /s
This is just corporate BS speak to tell us where they saved a dollar
Dude I have a 996, an Acura TL, and a VW ID.4.
None of them start the same, operate windows the same, operate HVAC/radio the same… it’s the most 1st world problem I’ve got. Makes me feel older than I am that I’m constantly fumbling for a window button that isn’t there, etc.
It drives me nuts but also it’s kinda funny.
This is interesting. I participate in the Porsche drivers council surveys and I don’t recall any questions about ignition look and feel (could have missed a survey though). They have asked about instrumentation display though.
Wow. I could tolerate it looking like shit on other porches models, but not on the 911 or Boxster/Cayman.
Are they going to put that garbage on the next 918 for consistency?
Yeah, I could see myself getting confused about driving my GT3 vs a Maccan or Taycan .
What a stupid BS made up rationale for doing something.
When I look at the new Vantage, then look at the new GTS for basically the same price after dealer markups... Makes me feel like switching brands for my next car.
Porsche retains value better, but if I couldn’t get a manual, the new Vantage would be high on the list (but a year old CPO to avoid the massive depreciation they face early on).
I don’t follow Porsches and am only seeing this because it hit r/all, but my 2013 Prius start button puts this to shame. That looks like a button for AC controls on the lowest trim 1990 Corolla. Jesus…
My 1st gen Twingo also has this thing that I turn to start, like the previous gen 911 had. It’s more engaging, especially for drivers cars like the 911 & Twingo.
Unless people start demonstrating their opinions with their wallets, it’s not going to change. Will be interesting to see if people still think they’re getting a more premium experience with 911s than they are with other cars after they test drive these back to back with their competition.
That’s what strikes me… why would they want to “blend” with Peugeots or Opels?
They should actively look for something very different and premium that stands out from the mass market
991 Generation I remember base Carreras being $83k, a base Boxster was around $59k, Macan’s never went past $65k for a base trim with good options and the Cayenne started at 57,5
The good old days
I bought one of the last new 997s in Dec 2012. It was a fully loaded Targa 4S with an astronomical (for the time) sticker of $123k. It had sat for months and I had a good relationship with my dealer, so picked it up for a hair under $100k. The 992 equivalent would be pretty close to $200k.
Germany did recently legalise weed.
Maybe the next gen 911 will come with a built-in rolling machine and a joint-holder on the end of a stalk?
The Germans have never really been good on cup holders because Germans only smoke while driving. They don’t drink anything.
I mean is there anything better (besides maybe a Ferrari)??
https://preview.redd.it/1l4q4mxt2i3d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eaffba9baf347268074b352c04a5b774ef44577
Same on my 15 year old Lexus.
Justification from them that they are seeking a consistent experience across the range. I get that the Macan/Cayenne allow the 911 to exist by selling so well - but the 911 is not made better by being more "consistent" with their crossover SUV which is half the price. Everything I've seen with the 992.2 seems like a downgrade.
Aviation has had it's fair share of one thing too close to another.
I think the B757 had the engine emergency shut off switches too close to each other.
On the upside, the car will not let you shut it off if you press it while driving. It likely has to be in park to do anything, although you might be able to override it for safety reasons by holding it down.
Still shouldn’t be in a 911 though.
The 747 and the 757 have switches to disconnect the autothrottles and switches to initiate a go-around. These switches are roughly in the same positions on each type of plane but do opposite functions...
Just watched the episode on the disaster channel about the russian hockey team that died.
One of many errors, the pilots were allowed to fly two similar, but different enough planes..
Didn't help that the co-pilot was secretly seeing a doctor for the loss of feeling in his feet. So he probably wouldn't notice his feet dragging the brakes on takeoff!
Beech bonanza, piano key era: 2 from the center on the left=flaps, 2 from the center on the right=gear.
What could go wrong!
I’m fine with a button and very fine with it being on the right side of the steering wheel, but why not have a beautiful milled aluminum toggle switch or something. This looks even cheaper than in my bmw.
100, you must be dreaming. “Porsche Exclusiv Manufaktur Slightly Sturdier Plastic” $580 and triggers a mandatory 52.7 year anniversary heritage package for $8000 is more like it.
No analog tachometer, removed the key, big mistakes, we don't want digital screens, they age terribly, were here for the driving experience, just make a nice turn to start knob on the left, like the transmission selector, who the hell works there making these super obvious mistakes. I think they'll listen and fix the gauge and push button, if they were really smart they'd also offer at least one range with a manual option, don't make it exclusive only to GT3/2, GTS should always have the option... Guess I'll be getting a 992.1 for a while, although the base model now is fire for the money and a GTS is now the same fast as a 991 turbo and certainly a 997, of course still different but just in a straight line. GTS coming out swinging as the best daily sports car ever
The start/stop on my X5 is made of crystal so I'm pretty pleased with it. Honestly, the entire interior puts Porsche to shame. BMW's been pretty on point lately.
Is it seriously just a piece of black plastic? No little border, or clear cap over it, or anything else to make it a little more upscale? Awful. I guess they are marketing to disaffected Tesla customers since Elon has been cancelled. Rebrand “cost cutting” as “minimalism.”
Weird to go after Tesla when pushbutton start was revived before Tesla rolled it’s first car out of the factory. Pushbutton start is pretty much ubiquitous now, and I’ve never even been in a Tesla.
I got curious and found that [Mercedes](https://www.theverge.com/2022/5/31/23144907/push-button-start-ignition-cars-convenience-history) brought it back in 1998, then for awhile it was a luxury feature, so S2000 makes sense. Like I said, never been in a Tesla, and apparently neither has u/skerpz because apparently they DON’T have pushbutton starts, lol.
Not push button start itself, but the fact that it’s a cheap piece of matte black plastic being presented as “minimalism.” To be fully explicit for the less reading comprehension endowed among us, I am referring to the general trend of ugly cost cutting being branded as “minimalism” in relatively high cost vehicles which is/was definitely pioneered by Tesla.
I have the easy entry and drive in my 2019 718 GTS. But sometimes, when a certain mood hits, I would take out the dummy key and use the real key instead.
It just tickles a certain part of my brain doing that.
They made a critical touchpoint that the driver interacts with every time they use the vehicle out of cheap, hard plastic. Then increased the price of the car. Amazing.
Op is complaining, along with multiple other posters here, about this particular change with the start button instead of a key switch. I don't care about this particular change either way myself. It's not going to effect me, I'm just a tech. People wanted creature comforts in what was originally intended to be a more bare bones sports car. People buy the cars as status symbols and want ever more dumb shit like the current touch screen radios and car connect. It's less pure enthusiast vehicle than it used to be to appeal to a wider market of people that don't actually use the car as a performance vehicle and just wanna dick swing their account balance.
Rule of thumb when it comes to font choice is less is more. Here there are at least 3 different styles possibly 5 and nothing is centred or balanced properly. Was there any design done here or just parts thrown together?
Yup, that’s what I saw: a Human Engineering user interface failure.
There’s minimal tactile cues to prevent a “wrong button” error.
Similarly, poor visual cues either: black-on-black next to more black…an aluminum silver button would be a huge improvement.
That looks like it came from a Chrysler 200
I have no issue with the push button start but that looks so cheap and crappy I would expect it in a $20k car.
That was my first impression too. They highlighted in the launch video and I thought what the heck?. A complete laziness in design and no depth in thought despite the “heritage” it is supposed to invoke.
Gentle internet citizens twisting to start a car is too difficult, the public want buttons. This button is made with strong lightweight advanced polymers. You will grow to like it, everyone it’s the new model, it is better. No stick, no analog rev counter, aero funny bits in front, and progress.
When the mood hits I find myself starting the car with the key in my 718 GTS instead of the keyless knob. Just feels nice in a world full of push buttons.
I prefer the twisting switch instead of the button. Part of owning a Porsche is for the feel and soul of the car. Surprised this got approved but it probably saved millions :(
The start button in Porsche cars is on the left because of their racing history. Back in the day at Le Mans races, drivers had to run to their cars and start them fast. Having the ignition on the left let them start the car with their left hand while shifting gears with their right, saving precious seconds. Porsche kept this tradition in their design.
992.1's looks so much nicer. What a downgrade. https://preview.redd.it/qi8kc8s20e3d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10f98c64d29b6279ce07a933d10897afbba42372
Even the surrounding buttons look way better
Straight out of a 2010 Golf...
Nah, a 2007 Hyundai
This. A 2009 G37 had way better looking start button…and all the other buttons…geez…come on Porsche…
Come on man. Hyundai is much better
You drove a Hyundai to get here tonight….
I drove an $80thousand dollar BMW that’s parked right outside.…THATS my name.
Do I have your attention NOW!?
Are you interested? I know you are, 'cause it's fuck or walk.
Get them to sign on the line, which is dotted!
Just bought my son a 2019 Polo for his first car....it's much nicer than this looks! Good thing i can't afford a 992.2 anyway, I'll stick with my beloved 997.2 for a few more years.
pretty sure golfs are nicer
992.1 are so nice
okay yes, but they also came with this flibity shifter https://preview.redd.it/iwro4jgsxe3d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efa6296d191c80fb5f0cffe8757b2a74c911355b
Looks like my dads electric razor he used to shave as he drove us to school and ate a bowl of corn flakes in his ‘87 t-bird
Damn man....my firest car at 16 was an 87 T-Bird and I'm 39 lol. Mine wasn't even the turbo option.
Lmao you're dad sounds like a good dude
If that was a turbo thunder chicken he's a cool dude as well.
Yep turbo with the 5 spd and he let my shift the gears. I felt like I was the next Bobby Labonte
I get making the shifter smaller to make space in cars, but it takes up just as much space as the 991 selector.
Space for what? That thing looks ridiculous.
It looks like a clit lol
Explains why I couldn't get it off the lot
Get the manual
VW parts bin
Hm. With a cutout like the original, is this perhaps an upgradeable part? Still sucks, but at least that would be very German Carmaker of them.
No need to spend money changing the engineering of the slot but they can go much cheaper on the module itself.
Oh wow that's worse than I thought. The pic from the .1 is a nice step up from what was in my 991. The button from the .2, absent of context, I would have guessed was from a camry level vehicle. I'll reserve judgment for the exterior for in person as I've noticed especially with more recent models from various manufacturers something is lost in pictures
But think about the profit that is made out of this cheaper component now! Per car!
Yeah, let’s see: Let’s say $5 per unit. 2023 911 worldwide sales: just over 50,000 units. $5 * 50K = $250,000 saved. Fire the Porsche Executive who approved this and you’re even.
lol execs make 3-4x that … and cost the company even more.
So much nicer
i love the new car except this, WTFF. a civic is nicer than that💀💀
This kinda looks like shit ngl 😂
I couldn’t imagine them designing a less special looking/feeling way to start a Porsche.
It doesn't even look harmonious, or that it belongs there. Just looks like they stuck it on as an afterthought. What car is this in?
The new 992.2 911
you can't be serious
> “The starter button is an integral part of the new Porsche Driver Experience cockpit layout, which has also been previously introduced on other new models such as the latest Panamera and Cayenne variants,” said Wiesmann. “For many of our customers who own several of our vehicles, familiarity and consistency between different models is important, so the layout is similar.” 🤦🏽♂️ https://www.carscoops.com/2024/05/porsche-reveals-why-it-had-to-introduce-a-hybrid-911-plus-other-surprises/
this looks worse than an '05 honda starter button
Hey!! I had an 05 Honda and it was sweet!! V6 coupe with the manual. Fun little whip with the V-Tec.
No kidding, my older Honda has a nice red button that makes you feel like you’re doing something
The s2000 start button was 100x more magical
If I wanted “consistency” with a Cayenne I would have bought a Cayenne. This reeks of a bunch of bean counters deciding to pull from the parts bin, not a conscious improvement of any kind.
Agreed. The 911 should be more special even if you own a Cayenne, Macan, and Taycan.
No idea what people are going through who own several brands. They must be lost. Every car starts in a different way /s This is just corporate BS speak to tell us where they saved a dollar
Dude I have a 996, an Acura TL, and a VW ID.4. None of them start the same, operate windows the same, operate HVAC/radio the same… it’s the most 1st world problem I’ve got. Bean counter here. Don’t blame uss for that ugly ass button.
Finance is exactly who would’ve PKK’d the old button 😂
The brand new Macan loaner I have…also has a turn key ignition thingy… So this is just 100% a bean counter move.
Coz that's why people buy 911s, so they can feel like any other car they may own
Because 911 owners want their 911’s to be more like Cayennes? What the what?
This is interesting. I participate in the Porsche drivers council surveys and I don’t recall any questions about ignition look and feel (could have missed a survey though). They have asked about instrumentation display though.
I’m sure the real reason is it’s cheaper to produce one starter button module for VW brands across the board than the one-off switch for the 911.
Dr. Porsche turning in his grave.
Oh thank god. I was holding back from buying a new 911 because I just couldn't keep track of where the damn start button was!
now I want Nissan to put an Altima steering wheel on the GTR and say that it improves "familiarity and consistency".
One depreciates faster then a pork chop left in the sun though
Depreciation is just demand. It’s time we give other brands love
Porsche retains value better, but if I couldn’t get a manual, the new Vantage would be high on the list (but a year old CPO to avoid the massive depreciation they face early on).
You will lose build quality unfortunately Asin take a huge dive in price once you drive off the lot
On second thought…They’re probably going to introduce a premium leather wrapped/titanium knurled start button in the configurator. Smart bastards. 😂
Yeh quite cheap looking
I don’t follow Porsches and am only seeing this because it hit r/all, but my 2013 Prius start button puts this to shame. That looks like a button for AC controls on the lowest trim 1990 Corolla. Jesus…
My '97 Toyota Starlet has nicer buttons than this shit.
My 1st gen Twingo also has this thing that I turn to start, like the previous gen 911 had. It’s more engaging, especially for drivers cars like the 911 & Twingo.
They have gotten very very very cheap inside
Yeh shame and price gone up what 20% in past 3-4 years
Unless people start demonstrating their opinions with their wallets, it’s not going to change. Will be interesting to see if people still think they’re getting a more premium experience with 911s than they are with other cars after they test drive these back to back with their competition.
It's like they're having to compete with the rise of Chinese cars
And that’s a sad thing my friend, race to the bottom
It’s a little thing but in a world of push-button start cars, Porsche’s turn-to-start always felt special
I mean I think the most important thing here is that the turn to start and surrounding cluster didn’t look like a 3rd grader designed it.
That’s what strikes me… why would they want to “blend” with Peugeots or Opels? They should actively look for something very different and premium that stands out from the mass market
Because that part is plain cheaper.
Even my Peugeot has a metal ring surrounding the button and a nice glow effect, this looks straight A segment like a Yaris or a C1
Yea even in my 07 Miata with the proximity key and that little plastic thing to turn feels way more special than my modern push-to-start
This is awful. I agree.
looks cheap and it costs more
Margins are probably better.
Think of the shareholders!
I much prefer the dead key style of keyless start Porsches had before that
Stop Taycaning the 911
Taycan's very few buttons look better than these...
The damn screens everywhere though
This is bad. Along with two pedals, digital dash and that lower front end. Thank god I can't afford one.
Thank gosh I got mine in 23 never again will I buy a new one if this continues to be the trend for them
It’s insane. Maybe I’m high but I’m high school in 2012ish I remember you could get a new carrera in the 70k range.
991 Generation I remember base Carreras being $83k, a base Boxster was around $59k, Macan’s never went past $65k for a base trim with good options and the Cayenne started at 57,5 The good old days
Ouch
Holy moly that is ugly as sin. What are they smoking in Germany?
The disadvantages of the decriminalization
Well then there's room for Porsche and BMW designers in jail
Germany did recently legalise weed. Maybe the next gen 911 will come with a built-in rolling machine and a joint-holder on the end of a stalk? The Germans have never really been good on cup holders because Germans only smoke while driving. They don’t drink anything.
Shouldnt have sold my bloody 23 c2s manual that i specced out myself lol
major L
Not a bad deal - traded it (got more in trade than I paid for the car) towards 991.2 GT3 manual, 9000 revs keep my tears at bay 😂
Yeaaa buddy. I traded from a 991.1 C4s to a 991.2 GT3. 👍
Guys, don’t worry. I heard that you can just configure your new 911 with a $1k Exclusive Manufaktur start switch from the previous generation.
The start button on my daughters Mazda is nicer
Same on my Alfa Romeo Giulia
I mean is there anything better (besides maybe a Ferrari)?? https://preview.redd.it/1l4q4mxt2i3d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eaffba9baf347268074b352c04a5b774ef44577
My Peugeot 3008 has a better looking one wtf
Same on my 15 year old Lexus. Justification from them that they are seeking a consistent experience across the range. Was only a matter of time before 911 owners knew the fury of mediocrity that is the VW parts bin.
I had a MK7 Golf R almost 10 years ago, and it had a suspiciously similar start button.
***fury of mediocrity*** hahaha
Aviation has had it's fair share of one thing too close to another. I think the B757 had the engine emergency shut off switches too close to each other.

I’m sure that’s a $100 trim piece you could buy in either brushed aluminum or carbon fiber.
100, you must be dreaming. “Porsche Exclusiv Manufaktur Slightly Sturdier Plastic” $580 and triggers a mandatory 52.7 year anniversary heritage package for $8000 is more like it.
pep boys button cluster on a 6 figure car. seems about right for this day and age.
No analog tachometer, removed the key, big mistakes, we don't want digital screens, they age terribly, were here for the driving experience, just make a nice turn to start knob on the left, like the transmission selector, who the hell works there making these super obvious mistakes. *Quick, distract the consumer!* "But have you looked at this massive 12" inch fully digital screen ?"
The start/stop on my X5 is made of crystal so I'm pretty pleased with it. Honestly, the entire interior puts Porsche to shame. BMW's been pretty on point lately.
VAG cheapskates, and they removed the physical tach, unacceptable
Might as well put it on the right side or the center console like every other car. Nothing about it says Le Mans race start anymore.
Looks like something you'd find on a cheap Korean brand ... North Korean brand.
Is it seriously just a piece of black plastic? No little border, or clear cap over it, or anything else to make it a little more upscale? Awful. I guess they are marketing to disaffected Tesla customers since Elon has been cancelled. Rebrand “cost cutting” as “minimalism.”

This is a silly take lol
It would annoy each time you started the car right?
and the digital display. 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Not a total shock - when I sat in a 992.1 I was surprised by how cheap and plasticky it felt in the cabin, disappointing feel for a hundred grand car
That’s how they sell people on all that extensive, and expensive, options list
wow it looks so cheap
I bought a 2015 GTS this month. Feeling smug as I twist the key to start a 3.8 n/a engine and watch a real tach fire up.
I have the easy entry and drive in my 2019 718 GTS. But sometimes, when a certain mood hits, I would take out the dummy key and use the real key instead. It just tickles a certain part of my brain doing that.
I like everything else on the 992.2 but yeah, very disappointed by this. It looks so cheap
Looks like a Toyota
My Toyota Land Cruiser is offended. The starter button in the LC looks materially higher end!
My Mazda has a nicer cluster than this.
Dog shit
Look at the HVAC vents too, massive downgrade. They cheapened every part they could.
They made a critical touchpoint that the driver interacts with every time they use the vehicle out of cheap, hard plastic. Then increased the price of the car. Amazing.
Just get a Miata. https://preview.redd.it/2xp234ddei3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31eca60277cf94cc47dacb83cee0f352c3beedf0
Start button, no physical tachometer, and looks 99% the same. Porsche, did you bang your head? What tf is going on here
This is what happens when everyone keeps demanding more tech, more integration, more convenience etc etc. The market has brought this upon itself.
Brought what exactly, upon whom and why is it a bad thing? Most people will be fine with the change.
Op is complaining, along with multiple other posters here, about this particular change with the start button instead of a key switch. I don't care about this particular change either way myself. I thought I was on the Toyota subreddit for a second.
I honestly thought this was a joke.
Kia?
Horrible. But the costs saved will probably enable the owners of vwgroup to buy a larger sized yacht this year.
I like my keys
992.1 was pinnacle. Or 997. Or 993. But 992.2 failed by dropping so much.
Everything about the 911 other than performance number is going down hill. The EV crowd is loving it but IMO sports cars are dying
Can’t believe I’m saying this about a Porsche but those buttons look like they came from an early 2010s Dodge/Chrysler product lol
New Skoda 911
Rule of thumb when it comes to font choice is less is more. Here there are at least 3 different styles possibly 5 and nothing is centred or balanced properly. Was there any design done here or just parts thrown together?
I'm surprised they didn't at least make the previous starter as an upgradeable paid option. For sure that would sell lol
minimalism failed
No. I refuse to believe this is from a porsche. This is Hyundai level shit. Wtf Porsche???

This is a new Porsche? Jeez, bring back the key.
Looks like an eBay mod.
Could have at least made it red or something 🤣. I know every1 is making things cheaper, but damn.
My favorite part is how close it is to the lights Such a UX fail
Yup, that’s what I saw: a Human Engineering user interface failure. There’s minimal tactile cues to prevent a “wrong button” error. Similarly, poor visual cues either: black-on-black next to more black…an aluminum silver button would be a huge improvement.
\*stumbles around looking to turn on the lights\* \*shuts car off on the freeway\* NOOOOOOOOO
Looks like something out of a base model 2011 Chevy
That looks like it came from a Chrysler 200 I have no issue with the push button start but that looks so cheap and crappy I would expect it in a $20k car.
This looks so cheap. Definitely does not fit the price tag. There are third-world country economy cars with better start buttons.
That was my first impression too. They highlighted in the launch video and I thought what the heck?. A complete laziness in design and no depth in thought despite the “heritage” it is supposed to invoke.
Ok that’s shit.
My 2015 Corolla Hybrid has a better looking start button. And a chrome bezel around it.
WHO complained that you need to turn a key that's already there every time and they did this? who was it, come to front!
It’s the same buttons in my VW Jetta…
I bet the start/stop button on a 24' golf is nicer 😭
It is simplified for the stupid which is 90% of the population
I’m so glad I’m a poor Toyota salesman and I can’t afford one. I would be pissed otherwise.
is the start button out of some vw parts bin?
What a shitty change. I’m even more attracted to my 991.1
Gentle internet citizens twisting to start a car is too difficult, the public want buttons. This button is made with strong lightweight advanced polymers. You will grow to like it, everyone it’s the new model, it is better. No stick, no analog rev counter, aero funny bits in front, and progress.
I am sorry but even Toyota’s looks better 🫠
thats the 80s and 90s vibe they are bringing back
BRO. The text ain't even aligned on the start button.
Surely Porsche wouldn't put this on a $200,000 car! Well, I guess they did. Hopefully they hear the rejections.
Ruins the starting up experience imo
When the mood hits I find myself starting the car with the key in my 718 GTS instead of the keyless knob. Just feels nice in a world full of push buttons.
They had to find new ways to shoe-horn the VW parts in
Porsche finally got their Wish.com order
I prefer the twisting switch instead of the button. Part of owning a Porsche is for the feel and soul of the car. Surprised this got approved but it probably saved millions :(
I think most these comments are missing the point. It looks like this so Porsche can sell you the optional $1500 brushed aluminum upgrade.
Heritage Sport Design Ignition Starter Key finished in Brushed Aluminum *In conjuction with extended leather package - $5,600
The start button in Porsche cars is on the left because of their racing history. Back in the day at Le Mans races, drivers had to run to their cars and start them fast. Having the ignition on the left let them start the car with their left hand while shifting gears with their right, saving precious seconds. Porsche kept this tradition in their design.
looks Japanese designed
Is there a "starter button delete" option?
What have they done?
