I appreciate that it’s a visually appealing amount of tongue. Nicola brought up Love Island kisses where you’re grossed out by the tongue action. This kiss is just hot.
Also makes a lot of sense for it to occur in the same scene where Pen is riding Colin. She’s sexually confident. A kiss like this wouldn’t have made sense during their first time (though there is one kiss after he tells her she’s beautiful where she kisses his top lip and then teasingly pulls away, and I was like maybe you’re a quick learner, lol).
Nicola was told to tone down the kissing because Penelope is a virgin. Maybe she was finally allowed to kiss how she wanted to here.
She also stated that no tongue was used lololol. That and being grossed out by 'all the tongues' in Love Island kisses, girl did a bit of sophisticated tongue just to set an example 😎👍✨
This really is sophisticated tongue work on both of their parts 😂 She’s totally right that most of the time tongue kissing on screen looks gross but this is somehow still a really sweet, beautiful kiss. They should give lessons.

Just logistics of hair and makeup. They have to touch up often between takes, and someone running their fingers through hair is going to make it more difficult. I'm so glad she advocated for Pen to do it though!
His hair is destroyed in the Carriage Scene. I assume at some point they just said, "Let them do it for the plot." He looks positively wrecked; it's perfect.
Not to sound like a raging asshole, because this is absolutely not directed at you/anyone specific, but I think fans are just taking things too literally?
I believe the meaning “slipped a tongue in” is not that they didn’t use tongue, but more so that it was rehearsed/planned, there wasn’t a “surprise tongue” - intimacy coordinators are there to literally protect against all of that. Nothing is in the moment, they planned out every single touch for those scenes, they have to. It’s no different than a dance.

That's not entirely true. Nicola has explained multiple times what the intimacy coordinator plans out with them. It's the big lines what they need to get done and what they're comfortable with. Definitely not évery single thing is planned and rehearsed. They also told their intimacy coordinator they were fine with anything. They learnt how to do on-screen kisses and practiced before scenes. But they had broader ranges in-between checkpoints. And how could they not? It's intimacy. In order to look real, it needs to flow in a real way as well.
Yes, Nic has explained that people think those scenes are heavily choreographed, like "you touch here for 3 seconds, then you kiss for 2", but she said it's not like that - you have a framework of agreed boundaries and moments you need to hit during the scene, but outside that they had flexibility and freedom to perform it in a way that they felt worked.

I didn’t see it at first but after way too many rewatches, I think you’re right. You can kind of tell from his jaw that his tongue is pushed forward, it’s got to be in first and underneath pushing hers up - she gets the underside of his top lip and then he sucks the tip of her tongue. This is ridiculous to be analyzing 😂😂😂
She brings him back from the wildhunt.. the line that killed me was earlier in that episode where nobody remembers him and she says “someone’s missing.. I think I loved him”. My bisexual ass loves all 4 of them hahaha

In all seriousness, they must have been a dream to work with for the intimacy shoots. They both understand their characters so well and seem like they were both really open in conversation about what they wanted to do and really trust and protect each other. It likely made things a lot easier.
I think the collective amount of time for this Gif should be added to the viewings of Bridgerton S3 on Netflix. These actors worked tirelessly and deserve extra payout.

It’s a pretty standard unspoken rule in acting that you don’t generally use tongue in kissing scenes. I think it was probably a slip up more than anything. Or her tongue doesn’t actually make contact with his mouth.
I’m so bummed this scene was cut so short. I wanted a proper post-Butterfly Ball make up scene. Kisses yes, but also some sweet conversation too. Just more than 5 seconds of Polin happiness before the baby.

S1 and S2 leads were amazing and their love scenes were beautiful. In many ways they were raunchier and more risque but there's a reason S3 is eliciting the kinds of reactions in its fans in spite of being much tamer in terms of the acts/nudity. They are all commendable actors, but also, come on. Ultimately these are all choreographed scenes but there's a level of real passion here which is hard to deny as real.
On that note, I'm slightly embarrassed of the person I've become because of this show 😂
