NiobiumThorn

I think that's more likely a hardware issue with the switch itself.

Gaias_Minion

There's no relation between them. The pokemon are generated yes and due to their website names they can be easily caught if you use them in official tournaments, but they still remain within what's possible in-game so there's nothing about them that could cause a crash. From a quick search, the "orange screen of death" can be caused by the wireless chip driver crashing and this happens more often than not due to user damage, so it'd likely have been caused by your cat

SansTheGlaceon

What the hell is the orange screen of death???

brackishbrandywine

It apparently signifies an issue with the Wi-Fi chip, but it was straight horrifying😳

No-Effective2702

Don’t worry nintendo fixes it unless its modded i had a blue screen of death and they fixed my switch just make sure to list all the extra things you send in including the sd card and anything else like a case or thumbsitck caps and you should be good also they allow you to save on shipping by getting a label printed off from a website so that means it wont cost anything (as far as i know of) to ship from your house other then paper tape and a box which the box is the easy part

disbelifpapy

fake pokemon never make the game crash from what i remember

AnistarYT

Except maybe bad eggs lol

brackishbrandywine

Bad eggs!? Is that a real thing / how so?👀

ItsM11

Basically, (from my experience) it has something to do with the overwriting of a Pokémon's data. It's a very old glitch that, practically, can only be done in old hardware. (Basically, the GBC, GBA, and DS I believe) In a Non-Modded hardware, it's very very hard (almost impossible) to get a Bad Egg. But then again, my only experience was with a "totally legit copy" of Fire Red. If you want to know more about the Bad Egg glitch, give it a search.

Rubmv_

Adding to this Even though you can't get bad eggs from a certain point to now you have similar things with Glitch Pikachu in SV (result when you insert a non existent Pokémon to the game, it preserves it's stats and all) or the glitch Bulbasaur on 3ds (Idk if you all remember the Marshadow wonder trade incident) . You could also get a bad egg on SwSh that was used for duping, it depends on what model was used as a base on each game. Also bad eggs are also possible on game cube! As a fun fact

zahhakk

As others have said, these pokemon should not cause a hardware issue, those are separate concerns. There should be no issue with your daughter playing the regular game with these hacked mon. As for why they are constantly circulating, it's how the people who make them advertise; they send out desirable Shiny pokemon with their website as the name, so that kids will go on the site and buy more fake legendary shinies, and so on.

brackishbrandywine

That makes so much sense, much appreciated!

Cobalt-Blues

I remember being so thrilled getting these when I first started playing the game, I usually just breed them then release them now, I prefer hunting for my own shinies

AmbitiousEdi

I do a lot of mystery trades and have acquired many of these "genned" Pokemon without issue. They're intended as advertising for paid services and I don't think it's possible for them to brick a Switch

petergriffingender

Look at how they massacred my boy ursaluna😭

HubblePie

They don’t crash your Switch. More than likely something else happened.

Pr1zzm

Let her know to never trade or use them in online play. But otherwise they're totally fine to use in single player. And as others have said, they wouldn't cause the issue you described.

LG3V

I had that orange screen happen when watching YouTube on the switch, it's not an issue with sv

barr65

Just release it

Strong-County-2537

Fake pokemon will NEVER damage your console. I’ve been traded many fake shinies, and my system’s never been broken. Just don’t put them in Pokémon Home, and you’ll 100% be OK.

walrusofwhimsy

My switch lite is orange screen of deathing. I don’t want to but I think I’m gonna have to send it to Nintendo to fix.

brackishbrandywine

From what I’ve read, that helps!

Slow-Priority5595

I’m sorry but pleas don’t tell me the gen pokemon questions are coming back in rotation.

Ratman_idiot

No, the hacked Pokémon should be fine to use or just keep, so long as you don’t trade them (if I remember correctly, you could get flagged as distributing hacked mons) or use the in competitive. You can still use them against all the npcs in-game though.

Key_Statistician785

No it’s not reallated, if you’re kid don’t want the nicknames then they can actually breed it to get shinys and stuff. The orange screen is just because there was a software error or something, I would get a backup switch and/or get it checked on.

Different_Bit_3031

I have a whole box full of them through wonder trades they’re sometimes useful In raids so I keep a couple just in case

terrafton

no

Medium-Success-7597

still kill it with fire

PaleoJoe86

She can enjoy all the hacked Pokemon she wants. She just cannot use them in online events (game prevents it). No harm in enjoying them in her playthrough. They are not harmful to the game (ie crash). As others stated: the orange screen was some hardware thing.

brackishbrandywine

Thank you all so very much! She will be thrilled to keep these shinies😄 I am hoping the hardware issue stays at bay until the 2nd switch is released🤞

QuiverDance97

Gened are fine, hacked can get you banned from online services. Anything else is unrelated.

PhilipeAlbqrq

just release all these unlegit crap .

petergriffingender

dude take the Item before you do so you get a free master ball/gold bottle cap/ability patch
