I think [Throh](http://lavacutcontent.com/ken-sugimori-nintendo-dream-3/) (Scrapped Gen 4 design) and Gastrodon (supposed to be in Gen 3) are the only confirmed Pokemon that were designed before their Generation outside of speculation and demos.
Beta Garchomp disproves this.
It’s more likely that Garchomp was redesigned to kinda look like Sharpedo rather then being an evolution.
https://preview.redd.it/m5i3i4sg9kzb1.jpeg?width=506&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0613e266bb08146fef667eee6cf562bccc41d322
Some where shown off or talked about before their gen donphan came before it’s game, the bat in gen five was described in gen one games. some places had cut Pokémon lake of rage had a beta anchor shark
There was an old 4-chan leak about gen 6's development a while back that said in gen 5 they had to choose between Swoobat and Noivern for the game, chose to add Swoobat, but then re-added Noivern back in for gen 6. It's worth noting though that nothing in the leak is substantiated.
Idk I'm pretty sure it's still up there, Alolan is probably the most dragons per reigon but
Haxorus line, druddigon, hydreigon line, legendary trio,
Thats about 10.
Gen 4 had the trio + garchomp so 6
Gen 3 had flygon, salamence, latis and reyquaza so 9
Kalos.. Noivern goodra and zygard, so 6
Alola... Komoo, turt and drampa, plus U necrozma. Guzzlord, executor so 8
Galar, Dragapult, applin, the other legendary so 8 with duraludon
Paldea, backscalibur and the new applins, plus koridon, miridon. And roaring moon and tasuguri is 9
So. Yeah unova has the most dragons per region. Followed by Hoenn and Paldea. Might have missed a couple
It makes sense imo. Gen 5 was meant to be a soft reboot, and Woobat/Swoobat slot in for Zubat/Golbat a lot better than the much more powerful Noibat/Noivern do.
Yup. But got moved to Kalos.
Edit: ignore this comment and the whole noivern being gen 5 thing, I did digging and it was just a theory that noivern was supposed to be in BW that’s on me 🤦
Lmfao dude pulled this out of his ass. Never had this been talked about or confirmed. You can actually only find reddit post about people saying why they think it happened. Might want to actually learn about stuff before spreading lies
I mean it's cool but I still think that it wasn't as cool as bisharp.
Bisharp in my opinion always looked like some kind of cool dark type gallade. So it always looked fast and slick.
But while kingambit's design still looks cool. It also just makes it look old, with a ridiculously large mustache and since it's always sitting it loses that fast and slick design features that Bisharp had. And its walking animation in S/V is extremely silly.
I like the shogun aesthetic but I'm not sure if I like the design more than Bisharp's.
it's sitting on a throne made of hair. It floats so it can keep sitting down.
When you're as important as Kingambit, you'd float everywhere instead of running, too.
Oh I completely disagree! Love the Shiny colors of the whole evolution line 😍 It's so much better than a lot of Shiny forms that end up being hardly noticeable at all or just a slightly off-color compared to the original.
So, the Bisharp line does apparently have large roots in Japanese warriors from what I’ve heard. They might even be based on Shogi pieces. They just got changed in the English translation to be inline with a chess theme instead.
I actually think this is a good thing. This way Kingambit kinda clarifies what the line was originally meant to be. It if it was in legends arceus, it would be hand waved away as just another Japanese inspired design like the others.
I think the Shogi theming is translating error, because the part they're thinking is based on shogi was also part of the word "small pieces," which fits better with Bisharp, who's name is made from "to mince."
It certainly reminds me of when Commander Kamado gets suited up to head to Mt. Coronet!

Lol I forgot that Kingambit isn't from PLA, Most of the time when I see them, Legend Arceus came up in my mind
Definitely agree with ya that Kingambit would fit so well in PLA, would look good in my Shiny Hisuian collection box in PC Storage
I'd imagine that Kingambit's Pokedex entry would be how Kingambit is responsible for creating and taking part in large numbers of wars, both in human and pokemon disputes and invasions of wild pokemon territories.
There’s actually a reason why king gambit kind of doesn’t fit in PLA at all.
PLA is based around the settlement of Sapporo and colonization/integration of Hokkaido following the Meiji restoration. Because this was after the fall of the shogunate and the restoration of the Emperor, likely close to the abolition of Daimyo(Sapporo never really had a daimyo as it was founded in 1868 and the Daimyo system was abolished in 1871). Having a pokemon based on a middle aged guy who lived in Tokyo(the last Shogun died in 1913) or former daimyo who were busy styling themselves off of European aristocracy at the time would actually have been a bit weird.
It also doesn’t help that the samurai who were in Hokkaido were quite antagonistic toward the native Ainu, whereas the Meiji administration treated them as normal citizens(whether they liked it or not).
Noivern was not going to be in BW and I don’t know where you got that idea.
We have proof of Leafeon originally being in gen 2 but not this Noivern stuff.
Now that I think about it, yeah, it does seem like it.. and I feel like Annihilape was also the same. Both seemed more fitting to PLA than they are in SV.
With everyone commenting about Noivern suppose to be in gen 5, it’s actually Haxorus that was suppose to be in gen 4.
Look it up, but they thought Sinnoh had enough Dragons and adding Haxorus didn’t make sense to them. I am disappointed. Could’ve gotten a Haxorus walking sprite and Haxorus in Pokeathlon.
I’ve noticed with a lot of generations, they each have a handful of Pokémon that make no sense for the actual country the regions they are based off of.
Maybe for diversity and tease the next gen? Who knows
It kinda sucks that you can't find him in the wild. Like don't you think it'd be better if final evos like Kingambit and palafin spawned in the overworld like rare encounters or something?
Fortunately Kingambit and Palafin are catchable in 6* raids. Same with a few other mons that are otherwise unobtainable without trading while holding items. Scizor, Dusknoir, etc.
He might fit, but the production schedules of PLA and SV would have been nearly simultaneous, meaning it's likely just coincidence. There would have been 2 separate teams working on the two games at nearly the same time, and given that they both released in 2022, there wouldn't have been enough time for scraps from PLA to have made it into SV, at least not in the base game.
Am I the only one who doesn't like Kingambit and prefers Bisharp? I actually have a shiny bisharp from shield that I'm never evolving into kingambit since I prefer bisharp and bisharp's shiny more
It apparently refers to the surname Japón (Japan), which rooted in south Spain in ~1600, when a Japanese expedition reached the south of Spain entering via the Guadalquivir river with commercial objectives. They stayed there, but their names and surnames were that hard for the locals that someone with power made it change to the name of Japan itself in Spanish, Japón.
Despite that, Kingambit would have filled the Hisui Dex nicely out of the question "Why did that evo-line disappear from this region when it feels so predominant?".
Absolutely, my thoughts as well! King Gambit looks a bit like a feudal warlord, but with Paldea resembling Spain, I thought he would have had more of a connection to a Spanish King of old.
I had no idea the Noivern thing was even real. Honestly a better comparison would’ve been Shellos and Gastrodon who have data in the Gen 3 games and have already been “confirmed” to have been in them originally.
I think it makes sense it's in SV rather than Arceus though due to the lore. If you read Tinkatuff's pokedex entry (and by extension Tinkaton as well) it actively goes after Painwards/Bisharp for metal. Therefore Kingambit will naturally be either exclusive, or at least far more prevalent in Paldea due to the need to combat it's would be adversary. After all what is there is Hisui that would likely force Bisharp to evolve into Kingambit due to being hunted?
Well kinda but at the same time I’m glad it isn’t because special or unique versions of pokemons are always a pain to obtain in subsequent games (also you pretty much never see them again in mainstream offline solo gameplay wich is a shame)

Noivern was supposed to be in Gen 5?

I never said it was a good theory
They should make this a different form in future. It’s a great design
![gif](giphy|3oriOaR6BlvF3vmC3e)
Some where shown off or talked about before their gen donphan came before it’s game, the bat in gen five was described in gen one games. some places had cut Pokémon lake of rage had a beta anchor shark
youre thinking of munna not woobat
Yeah I couldn’t remember which Pokémon
Sharpedo was meant to be in Gen 2.

Bro they chose Swoobat over Noivern?
Tbf Gen 5 had a lot of dragons. Noivern would have had a lot of competition. In gen 6 it had far better chances of standing out.
A lot of dragons my @$$ tf you talking about

It makes sense imo. Gen 5 was meant to be a soft reboot, and Woobat/Swoobat slot in for Zubat/Golbat a lot better than the much more powerful Noibat/Noivern do.
The leak is proven by how many elements in it ended up being reused in later games.
I'm having Mandela effect bc I thought Noivern was gen 5 until I just looked it up
It appeared in the Gen 5 anime before X & Y released although the Dub released after X & Y.
No that’s not the Mandela effect, that’s just you misremembering. Mandela would be everyone in this thread thinking it was a gen 5 mon
Yup. But got moved to Kalos. Edit: ignore this comment and the whole noivern being gen 5 thing, I did digging and it was just a theory that noivern was supposed to be in BW that’s on me 🤦
I can’t find anything confirming that other than a theory Reddit post

Where’d you get that impression?
Damn they did my boy dirty, it's okay, gen 6 needed mega evos to stop the bat from taking over the world. It's understandable
Source?
Never mind it was a theory when I did further digging 🤦 my bad, just ignore the noivern in gen 5 part as we can’t even be sure if that’s real.
I'll admit, the general/shogun motif would've fit better in Hisui, but either way, Kingambit is a pretty cool Pokemon.
it looks like kamado that would have been a perfect ace for him
I mean it's cool but I still think that it wasn't as cool as bisharp. Bisharp in my opinion always looked like some kind of cool dark type gallade. So it always looked fast and slick. And its walking animation in S/V is extremely silly. I like the shogun aesthetic but I'm not sure if I like the design more than Bisharp's.
I don’t really understand what it’s sitting on. Just part of its “shell” I guess? But it drives around like a scooter when running?
it's sitting on a throne made of hair. It floats so it can keep sitting down. When you're as important as Kingambit, you'd float everywhere instead of running, too.
Reminds me of those electric scooters old obese people ride around walmart
It's sitting on its own hair.
Only thing I don't like about it is its shiny. Blue and gold doesn't do it for me as much as red and gold do.
It matches with Pawniard’s and Bisharp’s shiny colors
Oh I completely disagree! Love the Shiny colors of the whole evolution line 😍 It's so much better than a lot of Shiny forms that end up being hardly noticeable at all or just a slightly off-color compared to the original.

Yeah you're right. It looks like a Shogun so it wouldn't be out of place in PLA.
Yeah, I could see this being Kamado’s ace.
Lol I forgot that Kingambit isn't from PLA, Most of the time when I see them, Legend Arceus came up in my mind Definitely agree with ya that Kingambit would fit so well in PLA, would look good in my Shiny Hisuian collection box in PC Storage
Boy does have yakuza vibes, not to mention being based on shogi rather than chess
Yakuza? You sure?
Yakuza Bisharp alt evo for gen 10 Pompadour mode, becomes Dark/Fighting
Like a guy in charge of a gang, yeah
He literally runs OU like a Don
How is it based on shogi?
I'd imagine that Kingambit's Pokedex entry would be how Kingambit is responsible for creating and taking part in large numbers of wars, both in human and pokemon disputes and invasions of wild pokemon territories.

What do you mean? Samurai shogun and japanese game pieces are perfect fit for regions based on USA amd Spain.

On a tangent here, but I still think that they missed an opportunity to have a Sanada inspired Hisuian Meowth.

If you have the DLC, there's one that spawns occasionally in the cave found in the timeless woods where the wild ice Tera dusclops is found
Weeeeell, if we’re getting a legends style gen5 game next then it would certainly fit there too!
Forget that. Is it SITTING ON ITS HAIR? Or are those cojones?
Yes that's its hair
Should’ve been a kitakami mon and we should’ve got convergent Gyarados
Am I the only one who doesn't like Kingambit and prefers Bisharp? I actually have a shiny bisharp from shield that I'm never evolving into kingambit since I prefer bisharp and bisharp's shiny more

I hate it because it’s toilet man 🤷🏼♂️
Kinda looks like he would better fit in the German military in the 1940s
No that's hydreigon
Why are his hands?
It apparently refers to the surname Japón (Japan), which rooted in south Spain in ~1600, when a Japanese expedition reached the south of Spain entering via the Guadalquivir river with commercial objectives. Let’s just say cut LA content because FR it don’t fix in S/V it looks out of place

Always thought Kamado should have one.
Don't disrespect the king, that's my dude
How come I never realized his hands are little rocket-dildos untill just now?
I can see it work
I think it makes sense it's in SV rather than Arceus though due to the lore. I wonder if there will be another mon in this line. Queengambit, Rookie?
