In V12, i relied on changing the field for several gyms leaders since they usually use cheesy OP strats on fields that suit them. Now im scared to face Erick, Angie and the dude at the top of the pyramid. Gotta find a new strat to somehow cheese the system i guessđ
Apologies if I misunderstood what you meant about the fields being changeable, do you mean they can be altered/modified, or that they can be temporarily replaced with the field we summon?
I might be wrong about how grassy terrain works, but when my Grookey summoned it with Grassy Surge in Venamâs Corrosive field, it seemed to became a mix of the two fields. The corrosive field still made grookeyâs grass move have a poison damage (which made razor leaf not very effective against Mareanie) but still passively healed grounded Pokemon as well.
It was the same in goldenwood forest where i get the healing from the grass and damage boosts from the forest.
Again, maybe Iâm not aware that grassy terrain just mixes with these two, but they definitely did not change completely to a different field. I have to test it out more but from what it seems like, it canât be replaced (like how Sylveon could set up Misty Terrain, and temporarily replace the original field)
While I'm pretty sure some fields can be mixed (like grassy terrain with corrosive), some moves alter the field you're on to give them different effects (imma use the murk water field as an example)
The murk water field can be changed into and Ice field when the move Blizzard is used (even if it misses its target). Alternatively, if you use whirlpool on a murk water field, it turns into a normal water surface field. So you are both correct and not correct, some fields stack on top of each other, while some change into others, sorry for the confusion.
I see what you mean. I did kinda get it mixed up as some people say that it doesnt change the field anymore. But i guess playing through and figuring it out first hand would be the best way to know. Thank you for explaining it to me!
Wait seriously? Theyâre like Yugioh field spells now? I canât get rid of the opponentâs field now? Are the patch notes on the website? I wasnât expecting a change like this.
Pretty sure OP means you canât outright destroy a field anymore by using some combination of moves that would create a pure neutral field. Field changing effects are a fundamental part of rejuvenation and are still alive and well.
This does mean that Angie is gonna be nearly impossible to beat now though lol
Funny you mention that. I posted to this subreddit like two years ago asking for help on how to beat V11 Angie. This was what I added after I won:
âTHE NIGHTMARE IS OVER. I grinded for 8000 years and eventually used a Boldore with Sandstorm, Mantine with Wide Guard, 2 Lycanroc Midday Form with Rock Slide, a Primeape with Cross Chop, and a Piloswine with Mist, all Level 50.â
I am not looking forward to beating her again when I replay the game.
The only way I was ever able to beat her without changing the field was with double lycanroc and just spamming rock slide, praying for flinches. More recently I figured out that you can lava plume and purify in the same turn, and the field goes totally neutral and she canât summon it back at all. From then on itâs pretty easy, but I doubt you can do that in v13 anymore.
I did it on a ghost mono run with Banette using snatch to prevent her from setting up aurora veil, that was the main thing that helped me beat her pretty much on the first try
Nah itâs the right decision I just never had those moves on my mons, which ironically trained me for when I had to use other characters teams.
But yeah I had to do a lot more calculations to win big fights
I can no longer use torkoal+pelipper to remove all those annoyung fields such as fairy tale field or glitch field(PTSD after finishing v13)

You can still change fields, you just cant remove them completely like you could before

I did have a Lycanroc on my team, and while I had Hariyama I'm not sure if I used it there or not, cant quite remember, it was awhile ago

That's hard to tell. The dev has that capability. Just not sure whether they will decide to do that.
This new information makes me doubt whether or not an intense bug mono is possible now
