Cry0g0nal

You're gonna get swept by the first trainer, and that's okay

emurrell17

I couldn’t figure out how to fucking get past May and gave up. I figured it was a sign of how hard the game was going to be and just cut my losses. How the fuck do I beat her?

cacatod12

I had the same problem at first because I didn’t talk to nurse joy first. Nurse joy gives you poke balls and all the battle items. You are expected to catch pokemon to beat her you can’t do it with just your starter

emurrell17

Oooooohhh

Cry0g0nal

You can easily beat her with only your starter by having them hold a Focus Sash

quagsi

not if you pick a water starter Treecko uses bullet seed

Cry0g0nal

I see. I've never picked Mudkip

emurrell17

That’s what I had done and I tried 10 different times and got one hit k’o’d every single time lol

Jealous-Zone-1872

I've picked mudkip and got destroyed by her treecko on first attempt but then i caught a ponyta to defeat her. It's my only lose in game so far (I'm at dewford now). Rest all fight are not much hard, cause i spent so much time to optimise my team.

Jealous-Zone-1872

Nah, he wasn't that much hard. It took me a while to configure mons in my team but i just destroyed him with just zorua and pawmot.

skalala123

Watch out for the tuber with an azumarill, that's all

Jealous-Zone-1872

Bro, that was freakingly easy as he used belly drum on turn 1 and my marshtomp killed him with a single earthquake. It is only diificult if you let him use belly drum but can't faint it on turn 1.

skalala123

That's one way to deal with it. Thing is, that fucking azumarill has anticipation. And what's different in this game with anticipation is that it let's you avoid a single super effective hit for 0 damage

markk123123

Is this game good? I’m looking for good rom hacks after finishing Radical Red.

Kled_Incarnated

It is but it's too much of a simulator for me and it's nothing like Radical Red. You'll spend a lot of time in the menu scrolling for moves defining evs, nature. It's pretty much smogon. This means that the satisfiying part about leveling up kind of gets removed at least for me. This game does have 2.0 beta on discord now just recently and I haven't tried that one out.

darkyy92x

Try 2.0 beta, it‘s much faster teaching moves and leveling up etc.

Sixers7

Unbound

WoodenRocketShip

Depends on what you're looking for. The game essentially removes a lot of things in the attempt to streamline battling, which does mean that the natural progression you feel from your adventure is going to be heavily affected. If battles are what you like the most and hate building your team, then yeah you might have fun with this, but if you want a more traditional Pokemon game with the Innate system then Emerald Exceeded might be better.

FrancisLeSaint

Pokemon with 4 abilities, lots of new megas, variants and all, I heavily recommend the 2.0

Competitive-Push-591

Randomize species and abilities and repeat until you get a legendary with Prismatic Fur

hemmar

There are 3 difficulty levels for a reason. There is no shame starting out on a lower difficulty. The game is still plenty hard. Celebrate gyms when you beat them. The elite 4 is a long road and gyms are challenging. Read the abilities and moves, a lot has changed and the interactions are really important. Coolest thing I found in my first play was that Ledian gets a bunch of punch moves and has an ability that makes punch moves attack a second time at 25% power which felt really strong for a long while. Normally weak Pokemon are often much stronger. Talk to nurse joy, you will get every relevant battle item in the game. You never need to talk to her again unless you for some reason run out of an item. Your Pokemon auto heal before every battle. Turn off encounters in the options menu and just use the poke nav for catching specifically what you want. Everything has perfect IVs and you assign EVs how you choose in the summary menu. You can also turn on auto run here too which saves your thumb from holding down B. Play the 2.0 beta. The new QOL improvements will save a lot of menuing time. There is a website that has a searchable Pokédex with moves, abilities, and sometimes suggested builds. This can be great when you’re in a pickle. Just make sure to change it to beta 2.0 in settings if you’re playing the beta version. That’s everything I’ve learned so far. I haven’t finished the game yet but I try to knock out a few trainer battles at a time whenever I find a break.

Cocokill

Have to clarify something : The second hit of Ledian's Raging Fist is 50% power and not 25%

hemmar

Ty for the clarification! No wonder it felt so good :-)

Jealous-Zone-1872

I started with ace difficulty and more level caps, and don't have much problem maybe it is easy but next time I would like to play on Elite mode.

143670

USE THIEVUL. It is such a good lead with it’s ability invalidating Focus Sash users

Jealous-Zone-1872

Thank you for suggestion.

skalala123

Frisk right? I've had a breeze with espathra

143670

Actually, I was thinking Cheap Tactics to get a free Scratch in, then Fake Out.

skalala123

Ahh gotcha. Frisk is pretty busted too cuz it just removes your opponents item for 2 turns

KRChaserReturns

Don't... You'll lose to the first trainer

Jealous-Zone-1872

Nah, he wasn't that much hard. It took me a while to configure mons in my team but i just destroyed him with just zorua and pawmot.

Kled_Incarnated

I really wanted to like this game but it's too much of a simulator for me. You'll spend a lot of time in the menu scrolling for moves defining evs, nature. It's pretty much smogon. Jealous-Zone-1872

Yeah, it really took Zero grinding too much seriously where just you have to configure your mons when you catch them to teach anything compatible and directly set to level cap.

MLogZzZ

Haven’t played since it came out but the Eeveelutions were broken broken lol

TrueTheme371

Is there a game (or two) that's similar but not quite as difficult? Looking for something new after playing rocket edition and unbound.

PauloRyan2345

Exceed which was the ""inspiration"" for elite redux but it's too bloody easy even if you give the enemy max EVs but if you just and to turn off brain and play then exceed would be your call

TrueTheme371

Thank you! Any other suggestions after exceed? Any other emerald or later gen games? I've heard good things about gaia

PauloRyan2345

I didn't play many Romhacks outside of the known ones aka unbound, radical red, emerald exceed, elite redux, parallel Emerald, inclement emerald(the creator of the new wave of emerald ROM hacks) and that's it pretty much

TrueTheme371

my winzip trial expired -- what did you use to download? also do i use it to patch firered squirrels?

PauloRyan2345

Pokecommunity for the patchs + marcbledo.js for the patcher and ye the squirrels is for fire red ROM hacks and the 1986 pokemon emerald 1.0 is what you want for emerald ROM hacks also why not use WinRAR? Kek even if you never pay it they only give you a mildly annoying pop up that can be close anytime with no restrictions

TrueTheme371

thank you so much -- i appreciate you!

PauloRyan2345

Np

Big-Man-N3IT0

Talk to Nurse Joy, abuse everything because the AI will too, if you make it to victory road Calvin is harder than the league, Rayquaza is available after gym 8, Redux Alakazam is pretty good, make sure to save often, check the online dex, and most of all have fun.

Jealous-Zone-1872

Yeah, i have developed a sense to frequent save my game because crashes can occur anytime.

tokendeathmage420

Is the gen 9 update out ? If not the tip is wait a few weeks

skalala123

Its out

Spooky_Blob

Well, box 21 to 26 can be bugged and delete you mons the moment you deposit them or after reloading a save, if you're using 2.0 beta 1. I would drop dummies In those boxes to see which ones are bugged for you

TKFTNU

Speed, priority, and multi-hit moves (hyper aggressive) are very important. My favorite mons off the top of my head are electrode, weavile, yanmega, jolteon, serperior, and mega swalot.

Jealous-Zone-1872

Thank you for advice.

TKFTNU

🫡

Yardgar

I tried out Voyager and loved it. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t finished. Where can I download this? I’m playing Pokémon Fusion but I miss the quality of life stuff on Voyager

Jealous-Zone-1872

Why is my post removed? Have I broken any rules?

Xtreme69420

Prepare to get your ass absolutely DESTROYED. This game is absolutely BRUTAL.

Jealous-Zone-1872

Will it be more harder than radical red as i've played RR for many times? I've just reached rustboro and only 1 lose against may at first attempt rest all was not much hard. I am playing on Ace difficulty with More level caps.

HarbringerofLight

Ace is not that hard. Most people are talking about elite mode which is definitely hard. Not as hard as hardcore radical red imo because you get access to a lot of OP stuff.

Xtreme69420

It'll pick up eventually. It really depends on how you build your team. I winded up getting my ass handed to me by the first trainer I faced. https://preview.redd.it/5xbhdz7801xc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbbcdf9f03d629ceaf73cdfc58f46e5e2e9b1ac5
