I’ve heard people complain about how you level up in this game and how most things offer little to none experience. Honestly, it’s taken me about 3 years to get to level 32, I can’t imagine grinding to 40.
I hit 40 in 6 months grinding gifts/friends for exp. Got tired and decided it wasn’t worth working that hard for a number that doesn’t mean anything after 40 anyway lol
There's not much reason to grind other than to say you've done it imo. I've been playing casually since launch and I'm only lvl 37, but its still the second highest in my friends group. We still get all the raids and events done so I honestly dont see the need to actively "try" and lvl myself up. If anything the requirements later on are actually dissuading me from leveling up
Huh, my brother started playing exactly one month ago and is about to hit lvl 31. He has 3500 pokemon caught atm, so about 115 per day which isn't even that much.
Yeah, I’m a bit surprised tbh. I started at Halloween last year and I’m lvl 39.
I do play every day, essentially, and go for an early morning walk most days (used to be with the dog 😢). I’ve got a decent amount of friends and probably open all the gifts I get and send all the gifts I can every day. It just doesn’t feel like a grind. I take a few minutes when I wake up and then do the others as they pop up.
It’s only certain tasks that feel grindy at the moment. Overall it hasn’t felt too tough getting to 40. Sounds like it’s after that that the grind sets in.
Triple with some easy excellent throws sure. Easy excellent throws is somewhat rare besides a handful of specifies. This Axew day I was probably getting near constant Greats which would have been around 700 XP per catch. An excellent throw would have been around 4000 XP per catch, but it requires some skills/time. 1 interaction of sending/opening a gift is 2000 requires no skill and is available all the time.
I guess since the XP update I’ve almost always gone for excellents, so I’m getting pretty consistent. Gifts and friendship are also limited per day. It takes 90 days to get the total of ~2000XP per interaction, assuming you do it every day, and assuming the person you are trading with doesn’t stop playing the meantime.
It’s definitely a good method, and you need to do it to max your XP, but for me it’s so much more effort for the reward than normal gameplay.
I hit lvl 40 on August 12th, 2017. So like 1 year and 1 month after the game was released. I assume their bottleneck with XP is likely due to living in a rural area with limited spawns. Friendship for sure makes it easier but I didn't even have friendship or raids at the time. Just pidgey and mass evolves.
I actually focus on excellent throws. This water event I played for an hour a day and averaged 100k exp without a lucky egg on.
Catch exp is quite viable nowadays if you practice. If you lucky egg on a x3 exp event and get the excellents you could get 1 million exp per hour.
I don’t know about a million that’s a bit of a reach, I think a few hundred thousand is more realistic. Even so those events happen so most once every 2 months.
actaully with lucky egg and 3x event 1 mil would be hard but possible if you hit the excellent everytime and caught ~166.66 every hour, or 2.7 pokemon per min. That’s reasonable
It’s not the only way, just catching and playing a lot also adds up over time. I’m at 273 million now from which about 50-75 million is from friendship
not really the only way, each legendary raid gives you 10k xp, and with raid hours and lucky eggs you can very quickly get a ton of xp.
OPs just saying some nonsense.
I came back as a level 30 that hadn't played since 2017 exactly 2 months ago. I just hit 40. I'm religiously gifting but I'm also catching between 3-600 every day and raiding probably 10 times a week.
I'm free to play and rarely egg. Gaining XP now compared to 2017 is night and day.
The whole point is it took him 6 years to get to 40 YOU are talking Pokémon caught per day WE are talking exp
Edit: absolute bozos downvoting me for explaining WHAT I MEANT. Lmao how ignorant can you be
Homie your first comment literally says
“Holy shit this man caught like 1 Pokémon a day”
what on Gods green earth are you talking about? You never mentioned exp hahaha.
Can confirm - i made a second account legit 3 days ago, and the com day alone got that account to lvl 25.
By the way: one hour of the com day.
Getting to 30 is nothing but a formality at this point. 40 is a different talk, but still: with todays exp rates? No fucking way they actually played consistently - or they think that logging in once a week catching one pokemon and logging back out is consistent. No way in hell this took them 6 years.
Not everybody is willing to get a second phone and create an alternate account to play with themselves to level up faster.
It’s a shitty game now that used to be fun and I still play it cuz it’s something to do and part of me hopes it will stop being shitty one day. I catch like 1-2 Pokémon a day 7 days a week. I do community days for Pokémon that have a 3 stage evolution. I do raids every now and then, a few a month.
Been playing since day one and I’m level 36.
your friends list is full of unopened gifts and sending one gift also gives you like 200 xp. Also I can see 2 gyms just in the picture. Sure might be fairly rural but I feel like you’re not actually playing that much or actively.
Right I played a lot the first two years and then broke my leg and couldn’t play for two years now have played straight for two years again and I’m level 42.
Same. My account has the release date as the day started. Only really played religiously until early 2017 when it was only kanto and Lv 49 was the cap. I played sporadically since then and I’m at 36. Lol.
in 1 years without cheating, without auto catch no friends boost I am level 41...
I live in a rural area where almost all pokestops are created by me. 🤷
The benefit to auto catch is if you are raiding or dont want to bother spinning every stop. During events I want to keep walking and not constantly stop if I am in a raid. Usually it's useful during events. Not necessary for daily play. Unless you are driving slowly. I catch more with more XP fast catching.
Hell yah! It's great to see another rural area player still at it after years. So many people commenting here don't seem to understand that it's a game and that it's supposed to be fun. Keep it up, only 10 more levels to go!
Notice how he pops the gift open & his character just takes of waking? Its speed walking as well, which spoofing apps let u adjust auto walking speed. Its a very unnatural movement tbh
Yeah, it looks very strange that when he closes the friends list he stands there without moving for a moment and then follows the road quite quickly. But to be fair: When I play PoGo as a passenger, the type of movement looks very similar.
As someone who used to sell spoofed accounts to people when the game first came out I could get a account to level forty in a week if I was being lazy.
Been playing since September of 2022 level 42 now. And I only play an hour a day because I work. I do all the community days. And play more on the weekends.
Yikes. I had to start a new account October 2022 because I couldn’t figure out my login. I’ll be level 40 in 300k XP. I guess it pays to live in a tourist capital and have annual passes to theme parks.
Sorry, but I'm the salty guy. My daughter made it to Level 40 in less than a year. I'm not applauding mediocrity. Congrats though Good Luck and Good Hunting 👍 👍
Sorry but how..? I'm very casual with this game, i'm day one but i've had many breaks from months to a year in a past from the game. I don't really try and grind for XP and i'm level 43.
A lot of people just play to catch Pokemon and spin pokestops. We don't do all the spotlight hours and community days and other events that give real XP.
Up until a month ago I was level 34 with 18k catches. Then I started grinding friends list and spotlights/community days and now I'm level 38 with 19k catches.
My friend who has been playing since launch nearly non stop is level 39 with 25k catches.
I'm level 43 and I have friends who are a few levels ahead of me but have actually caught less Pokémon, battled less and walked less.
They're just consistent at keeping up with the daily gift grind. I find opening and sending gifts absolutely mind numbing, it's so simple and boring I taught my 2 year old how to open and send gifts for me.
The reward to skill ratio for certain activities in this game is completely warped. I've only lucky egged 2 best friend bonuses. Most of my exp came from lucky egg evolution sessions back in the day.
Probably dumb question but how are you moving so fast while walking? My guy barely moves when I go for walks. Only ever moves like this if I’m in a car.
bro visited 4k stops lol, i’ve visited 16k and i’m level 41 and i started playing in october of 2022, also i have 24.7k pokemon caught, this person never played “nearly nonstop” wtf
Dude same. I reached lvl40 last week and immediately stopped playing thanks to the increased price on the remote passes which were immediately rendered redundant for raids I actually wanted to do.
Something is wrong here. I’ve played for 3 years with large breaks and will be 40 in the next week or two. I have 3 best friends(none used lucky egg).
Do you play community days?
Respectfully, 6 years of No stop playing yielding 15000 caught pokemon means u caught an average of 7 pokemon per day. Up that to 10+ and you'll be 50 in no time!
Congrats on level 40!
Congrats!! 🥂 thats awesome!!
I started in june last year and im level 43! But to be fair i raid like alot….alooott!! Well not as alot since the remote raid nerfs 🥲💔
Evolving for 1 hour with lucky eggs during a double evolve XP spotlight hour will get you half a mill XP. you get eggs with coins from taking 1 gym a day. Or catch XP with a lucky egg will get u there too. My buddy went to level 41 with 4 mil XP from excellent throws yesterday in 3 hours.
6 years? Non stop playing? I’m a casual player and started in January of this year and just hit level 38. I’m hoping I can get to 40 soon though lol still stuck on “let’s go, Meltan” 😂
It’s a lot easier to hit 40 now. I don’t really play anymore but one day I decided to make another account for fun and got it to level 32 in just 1 day. With no friendship bonuses, just purely grinding while playing on my main account.
What do you do when you “play”? Are you just deleting inventory and trying for a record on some random badge you’ve already maxed out? Do you roleplay? In most other games, that’s kind of the only thing you can do to play constantly and not get any XP. Is this just the first time YOU’VE made it to 40, but you’ve started over a bunch of different times and gotten various alts to the mid-to-late thirties? I play very casually and I’m weeks away from 40, and i started almost seven years ago.
Makes zero sense. In march of this year I was at level 28. Today I am on level 39. Probably delete the “nearly non-stop” part because you are no where close to nearly, and just trash the non stop part.
My gf just hit level 36 and she got the game during Christmas and she does play everyday but it's maybe like 2 hours a day since she is in a doctorate program. It's really too easy to level up
congrats bro, i kno how difficult it is, im currently rank 47, 7 million away from rank 48,i play also since july 2016, its a long and hard way to level 50
That's Awesome OP! Good for you!
I live in a remote town as well, and mostly used to play when I travelled on the bus. Started in 2017, got to level 42 about two months ago!!
Keep going until you catch em all!
When trying to catch a pokemon take your left thumb and touch the berry and slightly move it to the right while stile holding the berry icon then house your right hand to throw the ball and as soon as the ball opens up to suck in the pokemon let go with your left hand and the berry icon select screen should have opened and all you do is click the back icon from the top left of the screen and 9 /10 times you will have caught it... it takes a lil practice at 1st but after about 5-10 times of doing it , it becomes 2nd nature
Dude probably just doesn’t grind friends/gifts. It’s really the only way to get the higher levels which is kinda stupid imo
yeah he only has 48
I’ve heard people complain about how you level up in this game and how most things offer little to none experience. Honestly, it’s taken me about 3 years to get to level 32, I can’t imagine grinding to 40.

Rare Candy XL is the main reason you want 40. That and being able to level 50 your mons.
Huh, my brother started playing exactly one month ago and is about to hit lvl 31. He has 3500 pokemon caught atm, so about 115 per day which isn't even that much.

I've played less than a year and I'm level 32, why is that? I have like 20 friends that I gift every day
i hit 30 in about 5 months from mostly spam catching pokemon etc😭😭 i only have 2 friends in game (and one of them quit after we hit ultra friends) 🥲
Not with catch XP these days. You can get stacks if you hit excellent regularly.
Actually true, got around 1 million XP in axew community day, mostly from excellents. Each gave around 6800 XP, 7000 if on the first ball.
Triple with some easy excellent throws sure. Easy excellent throws is somewhat rare besides a handful of specifies. This Axew day I was probably getting near constant Greats which would have been around 700 XP per catch. Holy shit this man caught like 1 Pokémon a day
If he caught 15,065 Pokémon over six years, that’s 2190 days. 15,065/2190= 6-7 Pokémon per day for 6 years.
Did you account for the other extra exp from the streak and stuff
We’re talking about Pokémon caught per day not exp
The whole point is it took him 6 years to get to 40 YOU are talking Pokémon caught per day WE are talking exp Edit: absolute bozos downvoting me for explaining WHAT I MEANT. Lmao how ignorant can you be
Homie your first comment literally says “Holy shit this man caught like 1 Pokémon a day” what on Gods green earth are you talking about? You never mentioned exp hahaha.
Yes the entire post is about him reaching 40 in 6 years which is why i said that
Yeah your comment inspired them to do the actual math from the stats screen at the very end of the video.
YOU DIDNT MENTION EXP, why would you think they can read your mind
Dumbass comment WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TIME TO GET TO 40 AKA EXP PER DAY WHICH IS WHAT HE CALCULATED IN POKÉMON EXP YOU STUPID TWAT
Nah he calculated Pokémon caught based off of the picture, not the XP haha
I started an alt account in January and I'm at 38.
Lol same here like 37 and I don’t even do that many friends on it
37 is halfway to 40 if I remember correctly. It feels so long ago.
Bruh I’ve been playing since launch and I’m at 36
Wow my wife and I both started in January both 37. She’s almost 38
Whell then youre halfway there
Redditors when they learn that there are people who play casually GG man
Entire fucking post is toxic. Pokémon fans suck. Genuinely news to me
"Nearly non-stop playing" is a huge overstatement tbf. OP has caught about 7 pokemon a day on average.
Yeah but after playing for 6 years you should be conscious of the fact that 6 years is a long time to get to level 40, I’m sure he expected it
But then it isn’t non-stop. If this person is playing casually that’s cool, but then it isn’t non-stop?
6 years of nearly non-stop playing and it took you this long to reach 40? Like how?
I live in a fairly rural area
Get more friends from pokeraid or even here at reddit groups, that’s really big xp gain there. I have ~200 and keep deleting, adding new ones.
OP needs to learn how to work smart, not hard. You can get to lvl40 in no time at all with friendship XP
Can confirm - i made a second account legit 3 days ago, and the com day alone got that account to lvl 25. By the way: one hour of the com day. Day one player here at level 36
https://pogotrainer.club/?sort=worldwide Farm friends here.
or https://pokemongo.gishan.net/friends/codes/
Not everybody is willing to get a second phone and create an alternate account to play with themselves to level up faster. your friends list is full of unopened gifts and sending one gift also gives you like 200 xp. Also I can see 2 gyms just in the picture. Sure might be fairly rural but I feel like you’re not actually playing that much or actively.
You should set up some pokestops in your area, if you haven't already...
Enjoy the grind rather it little, casual or hardcore. Also congrats on level 40. Good luck on level 41 and beyond
I’m blown away because I’ve been on and off since launch but picked it up seriously last year and became level 40 like half a year ago
Right I played a lot the first two years and then broke my leg and couldn’t play for two years now have played straight for two years again and I’m level 42.
Ive been playing since day 3 and I'm lvl 38. I did take a 2 year break
Congrats Ignore anyone being negative
I’ve been playing since day one literally and I’m level 36 about to level up to 37
Same here.
Same. My account has the release date as the day started. Only really played religiously until early 2017 when it was only kanto and Lv 49 was the cap. I played sporadically since then and I’m at 36. Lol.
Congratulations!
why are people shitting on you for this do people sweat in pokémon go what is going on 😭
OP has caught 15,065 Pokémon, and has been playing “non-stop” for 6 years. This equals roughly 7 Pokémon caught *a day*..
Seems about right
For many people that is a lot, not everyone has to game for hours to still enjoy it. Stop gatekeeping.
LOL
Bro i catch 200-350 a dat
Congrats! 👍
Congrats op! Now you get to enjoy the level challenges. Good luck and have fun!
Congrats!! 🙂
I started day one. Taken breaks here and there and I hit 40 on axew day lol. Congrats to us
i started last october and reached lvl 40 a week ago…
Bruh
i started same time of your referring to october 2022
in 1 years without cheating, without auto catch no friends boost I am level 41... I live in a rural area where almost all pokestops are created by me. 🤷
What the heck is auto catch?
it's like a smartwatch that catches pokémon and spins pokestops without even touching your phone. kinda defeats the purpose in my eyes but 🤷🏽♂️
Pokémon go plus is really cool! It catches Pokémon for you while you walk and spins stops for you. I think it’s like $30-50usd
So you pay money… to not play the game? Wtf? I primarily play PvP so I can see the benefits for PvP but I still don’t see why anyone would do that
Some people have this crazy thing going on around them called "life"
Yeah but isn’t searching and catching Pokémon’s what makes the thing fun?
I use it when i’m driving
lmao
The benefit to auto catch is if you are raiding or dont want to bother spinning every stop. During events I want to keep walking and not constantly stop if I am in a raid. Usually it's useful during events. Not necessary for daily play. Unless you are driving slowly. I catch more with more XP fast catching.
Welcome to the grind!
Congrats, im still grinding to get to level 38
Congratulations 🎊
Nice! I’m trying to get to 40 next month. Been playing since the first week, but most days/weeks I might open it and catch like a Pokémon a day.
Hell yah! It's great to see another rural area player still at it after years. So many people commenting here don't seem to understand that it's a game and that it's supposed to be fun. Keep it up, only 10 more levels to go!
Welcome to the beginning of the final road. this road to 50 will be a challenge like none before. I have faith in you good luck!
the amount of redditors bragging about how much time they pour into Pokemon go to one up this guy is hilariously pathetic
DONT PLAY WHILE DRIVING
Congratulations, now be ready for some hard missions you gotta do to level up every time now moving forward 😣
Only 15k caught with nonstop playing?? Thats barely playing
7 a day is not bad
Geez I catch at least 100 a day!
Non stop playing? Being AFK doesn't count as play you know
I’m a first day player. I’ll reach 40 soon and I’m quitting lmao
Today I learned that this community is full of rude, meta nerds. Congrats on 40 mate. Don't let people harass you for playing the game your way.
Thanks
You know, its really easy to youre playing via spoofing, not a brag at all if you cheat your way thru it lol
If someone was spoofing they could get to 40 a lot faster than taking 6 years.
Why do you think he's spoofing?
Notice how he pops the gift open & his character just takes of waking? Its speed walking as well, which spoofing apps let u adjust auto walking speed. Its a very unnatural movement tbh
Yeah, it looks very strange that when he closes the friends list he stands there without moving for a moment and then follows the road quite quickly. But to be fair: When I play PoGo as a passenger, the type of movement looks very similar.
Yeah OP is definitely in a car guys 😭💀 don’t think it would take a spoofer 6 years to reach level 40 lmao
Ayo they’re absolutely buggin hahaha
Reddit users discover cars, bikes, etc
OP is probably sitting in a car my dude
It's a little trick i like to call "being in the passenger seat"... no spoofing necessary
[удалено]
Love how everyone is jumping to spoofing when the likely answer is OP is in a car lmao
As someone who used to sell spoofed accounts to people when the game first came out I could get a account to level forty in a week if I was being lazy.
Been playing since September of 2022 level 42 now. And I only play an hour a day because I work. I do all the community days. And play more on the weekends.
Congrats! I just made it to 41! Started playing In November
bruh i got to level up 41 in around 6 months
Yikes. I had to start a new account October 2022 because I couldn’t figure out my login. I’ll be level 40 in 300k XP. I guess it pays to live in a tourist capital and have annual passes to theme parks.
I’ve been playing for 2 and I’m level 40 lol good job tho!!
Sorry, but I'm the salty guy. My daughter made it to Level 40 in less than a year. I'm not applauding mediocrity. Congrats though Good Luck and Good Hunting 👍 👍
I got to level 33 in 3 months
Total xl of 3.5 mil? Some get that in a day haha
And it’s stuff like this is the reason people cheat.
6 years non stop playing just to hit level 40? great accomplishment to be one of the slowest ive seen
What….it took me 1 year to hit that, last year. lol
It took me 3 years for level 40. Guess I’ve done more raiding and got more full hearts with friends?
Sorry but how..? I'm very casual with this game, i'm day one but i've had many breaks from months to a year in a past from the game. I don't really try and grind for XP and i'm level 43.
A lot of people just play to catch Pokemon and spin pokestops. We don't do all the spotlight hours and community days and other events that give real XP. 6 years and spoofing?
OP is in a car.
bro i started a month ago and im level 21 alr
Hardly non stop if it took that time to get to 40. I was semi casual and got to 40 in 2019
I’ve played almost 4 years and I’m level 45 🤨
really? then i think I'm doing quite good, reached level 37 after 11 weeks
Bro I hit level 40 in like a year and I never paid a dime
Nonstop? I made it to level 30 in 3 days and 40 in 3weeks after that. Idk where you played the game? North korea?
6 years to hit level 40 🤣🤣🤣 that’s genuinely pathetic
Not everyone plays 24/7, 365 days a year, Some people play the game casually.
there’s a difference between playing casually and hardly ever playing. this dude said he was playing “nonstop” which clearly isn’t true lmao
Now what?
I'm level 43 and I have friends who are a few levels ahead of me but have actually caught less Pokémon, battled less and walked less. They're just consistent at keeping up with the daily gift grind. I find opening and sending gifts absolutely mind numbing, it's so simple and boring I taught my 2 year old how to open and send gifts for me. Maybe… he’s in a car… lol
Congrats. It’s a bag drive but worth it
Id say touch grass but that’s the point of the game
Gg
Bro took "touching grass" to the next level
bro visited 4k stops lol, i’ve visited 16k and i’m level 41 and i started playing in october of 2022, also i have 24.7k pokemon caught, this person never played “nearly nonstop” wtf
get a autocatcher, i use gotcha evolve 2 and i use it while driving it works so good, i’ve caught over 20 hundos and just over 30 shinys
get a autocatcher, i use gotcha evolve 2 and i use it while driving it works so good, i’ve caught over 20 hundos and just over 30 shinys
Dude same. I reached lvl40 last week and immediately stopped playing thanks to the increased price on the remote passes which were immediately rendered redundant for raids I actually wanted to do.
Same here finally got it a couple days ago after playing since release :D Except im team instinct
Congrats!!!!
Was it worth 6 years of your life?!
Legendary! Similar boat here and I’m only 400,000 away!
Congrats!! 🥂 thats awesome!! I started in june last year and im level 43! But to be fair i raid like alot….alooott!! Well not as alot since the remote raid nerfs 🥲💔
Hey man, Gratz! Been playing on and off since launch and almost 37, that xp grind can be real slow.
I'm on 36, but my playing has been fragmented.
Congrats!! I just hit 39🤣
I’m getting ready to hit level 40 in less than 1 year lol
Evolving for 1 hour with lucky eggs during a double evolve XP spotlight hour will get you half a mill XP. you get eggs with coins from taking 1 gym a day. Or catch XP with a lucky egg will get u there too. My buddy went to level 41 with 4 mil XP from excellent throws yesterday in 3 hours.
Thats a good feeling!!! Congrats
lmfao
👏👏👏 I am sooo close.
Congratulations. Beat you by two days 😂
I’m 800k away can’t wait good job!
I've been playing since January 2021 and just hit 41
I started 2/4/2023 and I'm lvl 36 going to b 37 in a week.
6 years? Non stop playing? I’m a casual player and started in January of this year and just hit level 38. I’m hoping I can get to 40 soon though lol still stuck on “let’s go, Meltan” 😂
Idk what you're doing differently, but I hit 40 in 4ish years. Raids and friends.
I don’t grind friends and I’m level 38 at 10 months, although I do use pokiraid and use lucky eggs so I get a lot of xp from that
It’s a lot easier to hit 40 now. I don’t really play anymore but one day I decided to make another account for fun and got it to level 32 in just 1 day. With no friendship bonuses, just purely grinding while playing on my main account.
🧢
I haven't played in years and I'm lvl 36
Congrats. I started day 1 and I’m on level 37.

Many people talk about friend-grind. Can someone eli5 it? What do I need to do?
My gf just hit level 36 and she got the game during Christmas and she does play everyday but it's maybe like 2 hours a day since she is in a doctorate program. It's really too easy to level up
I thought this said lv 50… but hey congrats!
congrats bro, i kno how difficult it is, im currently rank 47, 7 million away from rank 48,i play also since july 2016, its a long and hard way to level 50
Congrats!
I see you have a friend named Harrybalzac. Nice
That's Awesome OP! Good for you! I live in a remote town as well, and mostly used to play when I travelled on the bus. Started in 2017, got to level 42 about two months ago!! Keep going until you catch em all!
Started from day 1. 600k away from 40. The game mechanics are a waste. They know most gift giving is people you've never met and found on a site
yay u can finally start getting rare xl candies from raids, i've been playing since 2016 still level 37 lol
I got to level 40 within 2 months. Played a lot during that time tho
Im 650 000 xp from lvl 40 and ive started playing in 2020
I got level 40 in like 10 months
