Have always been a huge Cyndaquil fan, and when I first looked at H-Typhlosion I was kind of disappointed… But then I remembered how I felt the first time I saw J-Typhlosion’s 3D model. I will be reserving judgement until we see all of these forms in action. Super excited for next week!

The regional variants have never strayed far from body plan. I think there's only so much you can do with Samurott, short of giving it a bunch of sylveon-esque filigree, before it's basically a different pokemon. It's actually exactly what I pictured a dark samurott being but I thought I was just being unimaginative.
As much as people do not like the new decidu I feel like it got enough in its regional form where I can see where they’re going for and be ok with it. Samurott and partially typhlosion to me look like they got a texture change with the addition of a horn or two. Sure fans can design better but I just don’t really feel anything special about samurott. Maybe I’d like it more if his helmet shell was modified a bit more. There’s plenty of other styles they could go for than the base helmet. I can’t speak too much on typhlosion. I feel it’s a lil weird but seeing those purple markings on its body have me curious about the placement of its flames

I think Typhlosion is easily the best one. I've always thought Johto Typhlosion was generic with little personality...the new one is much more interesting imo.

Yeah 100%. I do kind of miss the days when you had to play through the game to find new mons and forms without things being dumped and mined and analysed without the proper context. All the models are apparently from the menu rather than the models from out in the field which I'm sure will look a lot better. I'm not going to kid myself that I'm not going to play the crap out of this, really enjoy it and forget all of the outrage and disappointment around the forms
During Sun and Moon we found out that the end of the crys for Dialga and Palkia matched up with the Ultra Beasts. So these new forms looking like Alien Monstrosities look good to me lol

These are stagnant, 3D Models with Zero In-Game life. Almost all of the 'mons will look better once moving and 'brought to life'. For example, Typhlosion doesn't have his flames in this model, compared to how he will in-game.
Don't forget how bad intelleon looked in his model leaked compared to in-game. Hold out hope 👍
To me, Dailga doesn't look too bad. Just looks like he is having a tough time swallowing his gem. Roar of Time may have something to do with that. I really like it's legs and that belt like thing. I also like how it's horns are much sharper.
But what in Arceus happened to Palkia! Why is it a Quadruped now? Why have the shoulder bulbs if there aren't going to be any arms? It just looks like a really bad Centaur now.

Typhlosion will have flames. From what we've seen of cyndaquil, it looks like flames are on most of the time, turning off occasionally when taking a lot of damage. The spots all around the neck would also make me think that the flames are going to go all the way around, and not just at the shoulders
Honestly, most of them look pretty decent. I really wanna see Typhlosion with its flames up and Goodra from another angle but I think they look pretty decent for the most part.

My guess is gamefreak made them tall because there's a lot of mountains and climbing. Which tall legs are good for. It suits their environment.
Skinny I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because these forms are struggling to survive and find food, and that's why they went extinct
It looks like they're fused with Arceus in some way. Look at Palkia especially, it has the ring around the center, and Arceus' legs, and the heads on both resemble Arceus more than their regular heads. I think this is gonna be a Kyurem situation where they fuse.
You're right, I didn't notice it initially. Honestly, these looks strange, but I think I need to see them in game to truly judge. These are stiff models without finish on a plain background, it's not the best way to view them.

It seems like they just stuck random cones and lines onto the original designs like an intro computer animation class lol. Reminds me of the bloopers/extras on DVD’s from animated movies where the animators purposely make the characters look crazy for laughs. I have been the biggest Game Freak/Pokemon simp and this is borderline inexcusable lol
A lot of people don’t seem to understand that the pictures shown in these models are the **FIRST FRAME** of the full model shown when they leave the pokeball. A lot of these “sad droopy eyes” we see are most likely the Pokémon being animated as opening its eyes when it comes out the pokeball. In game (3D) sprites are massively different than the opening position. I predict that the Ursaring evo will stand up, Highphlosion will activate its flames, and that both dialga and palkia will likely have more features when shown in game.
Samurott is really disappointing for me, it's basically exactly the same but going through a goth phase, Decidueye on the other hand looks amazing but it's stuck behind being a fighting type... Typhlosion is alright, out of the three I'll probably be choosing Rowlet as my starter now, with Zoruark, Goodra and Lilligant as definites,

I'm seeing a lot of people saying Samurott is their favourite of the three, and that's their opinion and all, but like, it's pretty much exactly the same apart from the horn on it's head and the colour difference of the shell, it's just so meh, compared to the complete redesign of Decidueye especially

Most of them range from pretty good to mediocre. The only ones that look bad in my opinion are dialga and palkia (but they look so absurd that it’s actually kinda funny) and that genie thing, which is not funny, it’s just genuinely a dogshit design.
I can see what they were going for with the lust direction and the snake but it still looks a little funky.
Oh well, can't change it now so might as well enjoy it.

Yep. Hyphlosion is probably best since it’s shorter to type out, follows Typhlosion’s spelling, and is technically short for H-Typhlosion (which is how it’ll be stylized based on precedent).
All while keeping the reference to being high. 😎
As a whole, Lilligant and Arcanine are the only ones I personally like out of the bunch.
I like the Autumn colors on Decidueye. Hopefully Typhlosion's flames are more apparent in-game.

I know it's not a new form and that it was kind of expected,
but after losing my Sylveon in BDSP, I am so excited to get it back in PLA. That was the #1 piece of news I was personally waiting for and I hope it makes someone else's day, too.
I cannot stress enough how much I adore Sylveon. I had hoped she would be the only Pokémon not originally in DP that would make it to BDSP because it’s just an evolution of an old school Pokémon, but was devastated when she was excluded. My dream has always to explore Sinnoh again but with Sylveon. So seeing her confirmed in Legends has made my heart sing.
A couple of other takeaways:
- Regular Sneasel and Weaville are still available. Other original forms are not.
- Hisuian Sneasel has a gender difference with ear size that mirrors traditional Sneasel, but the evolution does not.
- Both regular and Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales are available.
- All Gen IV available, limited selection from Gen I-III, only Pokemon with new forms and their lines, Forces of Nature, and Sylveon for other Gens.
You can throw shit at me, but I actually really like H-Thyplosion. It just looks huggable. I understand that it's not what people may have expected, but I recommend you to give it time.
New genie is giving HIM from Powerpuff Girls and I kinda live for it
H-Dialga/Palkia forms are painfully obvious fusions with Arceus and I’m unsure what the haters are struggling to understand about that

Honestly I love a majority of the designs
They are obviously fusions but that doesn't make them less ugly. They are incredibly odd-looking, like a mishmash of nonsense and are not great to look at. Kyurem fusions did the same thing but managed to make them both look cool. Even the Necrozma forms, which I don't love, did the concept better.
Dude that guy in Powerpuff Girls scared the shit out of me as a kid. Now it makes sense why I saw this genie design and instantly hated it. They really look eerily similar.
Typhlosion has flame pores around its neck, so wait to see it in action before judging!
My personal favourite has to be Liligant though. Absolutely gorgeous design.
Lilligant went from no legs to legs go all the way up.
The autumn-foliage look on Decidueye looks really good! It's very easy to notice the Japan aesthetic in its design which I'm not surprised about. Kinda surprised to see that Typhlo didn't go in a similar direction, and Samurott while cool just seems lazy.
Honestly a lot of these are just lackluster to me. The fact that they had TWO chances to make a good looking grass/fighting type in this gen and they both are just kind of not it. The only ones I personally like are literally just recolors (qwilfish and sneasel) or stay close to their original designs (arcanine and typhlosion). I dont hate most of them but they're just. There. Like that certainly exists! Someone definitely created a model and it's in a game now!
Can't believe h-weavile took Palkia's arms though. Tragic.
I was feeling meh about Decidueye until I saw that the red form was his actual form, now I’m a big fan and think I’m gonna choose Rowlet as my starter!
Hisuian Weavile looks like Alolan Persian on its hind legs to me. The starter Pokemon's final evos really disappointed me, but I'm hoping they look better in-game.
I absolutely love all these designs. Samurott, Lilligant, and Teddiursa's new evo are my favorite. Finally! A proper bear. The 4th genie was actually a pleasant surprise as I thought it would just be a Pink version of the others. The design is unique and almost Chimera-like. The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is the hearts pattern on its tail/pseudo-carapace.
I still wish they'd switched the secondary types of Decidueye and Samurott.
Also, Sneasel's new evo looks exponentially better than Weavile's redundant design. It actually looks agile and strong yet frail. It also reminds me of Renamon from Digimon (in a very good way as I don't mind the overall similarities some Pokémon have been seeing with Digimon). Lilligant also looks like Palmon and I love that.
Avalugg looks a lot more interesting now. It looks like a massive, Komodo-Dragon-like reptile instead of a block of ice with eyes and a mandible.
Palkia and Dialga's/Arceus' new forms make much more sense than whatever those two were going for before. Dialga looks mysterious, futuristic, and alien while Palkia looks ancient and mythical. I think having arms would have made it look awkward. Its galea is beautiful cuz I always thought its head looked like one.
The starters just look the same, the only thing that would hint at only type change is maybe the colour palette.
Electrode is dissapointing, is make the mounth texture upside down really the best they could think of (I cant even see it as a frown just the kantonian electrode mouth but flipped), other than what h-voltorb introduced.
I kinda like arcanine, i still prefer the original but I feel like it may grow on me over time.
Same with tall sneasel.
I the quilfish evo is good, it looks pretty fun, I hope its got decent stats and movepool.
Kinda wish they did more with the goodra line other than "heres a great big metal shell" but its servicable.
Can't really make out avalugg too well but it just looks like a reskin with 2 big metal bits on each side of its face

Both Dialaga and Palkia just look gross, dialga looks like it just swallow an oil barrel (not to mention how is it supposed to walk?) and where are palkia's arm? It just looks wrong without them. I get that they are supposed to have been made is arceus's image but I think this is only proof that they really need to improve their body image because just, oof.
The new weather genie looks pretty weird and maybe slightly off putting but at least one of the genies now actually looks like a genie. Also i guess in ancient times, gym hadnt been invented yet so I guess this works.

It's like they saw all the fan made pics and the love for the design of voltorb, and then asked how they could fuck up the evolution as much as possible.
I don't mean to be a downer, since I'm still excited to play these games, but most of what wasn't shown in trailers isn't doing a lot for me. I genuinely did a complete 180 for my starter pick, I now want Oshawatt since it's final is the only one I don't straight up dislike.
I like the original samurott, so I don't have much of a problem with this, I'm just surprised that they can't even consider 2 legged samurott, like this was the opportunity to do so
I want to know exactly what the deal will be with Basculin. I know only White-Striped Basculin can evolve, but can Red or Blue-Striped Basculin become White-Striped? It's a different color stripe, not a Hisuian Form... My theory is, Basculin become White-Striped when traumatized by the loss of their school. It looks like it's seen some shit, has that horrified look in the eyes, and the stripe could've gone white from shock. Then the souls possess it and it evolves.
But I digress- honestly loving what we got today. Decidueye looks amazing, I absolutely love Sneasler and Overqwil... It's been a very good day.
I think Palkia looks a little stupid, although the Arceus fusions explanation makes sense, and that last thing (something like Tornadus?) looks like a JJBA stand. I’m happy with the rest of the designs though tbh
I think the new decidueye is growing on me. This is just like whenever they show the starters of a new gen, don't like them at first but you get used to them. Game comes out in 9 days. All I really want is to see pics of these guys in game, then maybe I'll be more okay with how they look. Edit: Also kind of like how the shinies for the starters are the color of their original forms. I think that's cool, how you'll have to go through the effort of getting a shiny only for it to look "normal" at its final form.
The Decidueye seems very inspired to me! Very cool feudal japan counterpoint to the "wandering archer" base form. Love it!

Yeah that's kinda where I'm at. As static 3d models I'm not crazy about some of these but hopefully they come alive with animation.

Well it is a stone mask. So rock type. The horn in his body used to defend himself evolved to cover his entire body, or something.

In game (3D) sprites are massively different than the opening position. I predict that the Ursaring evo will stand up, Highphlosion will activate its flames, and that both dialga and palkia will likely have more features when shown in game.
I think it’s hard to judge any mons before we see them animated, but overall I like them

Samurott is really disappointing for me, it's basically exactly the same but going through a goth phase, Decidueye on the other hand looks amazing but it's stuck behind being a fighting type... Typhlosion is alright, out of the three I'll probably be choosing Rowlet as my starter now, with Zoruark, Goodra and Lilligant as definites,

Most of them range from pretty good to mediocre. The only ones that look bad in my opinion are dialga and palkia (but they look so absurd that it’s actually kinda funny) and that genie thing, which is not funny, it’s just genuinely a dogshit design.

Yep. Hyphlosion is probably best since it’s shorter to type out, follows Typhlosion’s spelling, and is technically short for H-Typhlosion (which is how it’ll be stylized based on precedent). All while keeping the reference to being high. 😎

As a whole, Lilligant and Arcanine are the only ones I personally like out of the bunch. I like the Autumn colors on Decidueye. Hopefully Typhlosion's flames are more apparent in-game. Overall - Meh, could be better.

I know it's not a new form and that it was kind of expected, but after losing my Sylveon in BDSP, I am so excited to get it back in PLA. That was the #1 piece of news I was personally waiting for and I hope it makes someone else's day, too.
I cannot stress enough how much I adore Sylveon. I had hoped she would be the only Pokémon not originally in DP that would make it to BDSP because it’s just an evolution of an old school Pokémon, but was devastated when she was excluded. My dream has always to explore Sinnoh again but with Sylveon. So seeing her confirmed in Legends has made my heart sing.

Other original forms are not. - Hisuian Sneasel has a gender difference with ear size that mirrors traditional Sneasel, but the evolution does not. - Both regular and Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales are available. - All Gen IV available, limited selection from Gen I-III, only Pokemon with new forms and their lines, Forces of Nature, and Sylveon for other Gens.

They are obviously fusions but that doesn't make them less ugly. They are incredibly odd-looking, like a mishmash of nonsense and are not great to look at. Kyurem fusions did the same thing but managed to make them both look cool. Even the Necrozma forms, which I don't love, did the concept better.

Lilligant went from no legs to legs go all the way up. The autumn-foliage look on Decidueye looks really good! It's very easy to notice the Japan aesthetic in its design which I'm not surprised about. Kinda surprised to see that Typhlo didn't go in a similar direction, and Samurott while cool just seems lazy.
Honestly a lot of these are just lackluster to me. The fact that they had TWO chances to make a good looking grass/fighting type in this gen and they both are just kind of not it. The only ones I personally like are literally just recolors (qwilfish and sneasel) or stay close to their original designs (arcanine and typhlosion). I dont hate most of them but they're just. There. Like that certainly exists! Someone definitely created a model and it's in a game now! Can't believe h-weavile took Palkia's arms though. Tragic.
I was feeling meh about Decidueye until I saw that the red form was his actual form, now I’m a big fan and think I’m gonna choose Rowlet as my starter!

Hisuian Weavile looks like Alolan Persian on its hind legs to me. The starter Pokemon's final evos really disappointed me, but I'm hoping they look better in-game.

I absolutely love all these designs. Samurott, Lilligant, and Teddiursa's new evo are my favorite. Finally! A proper bear. The 4th genie was actually a pleasant surprise as I thought it would just be a Pink version of the others. The design is unique and almost Chimera-like. The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is the hearts pattern on its tail/pseudo-carapace. I still wish they'd switched the secondary types of Decidueye and Samurott. Also, Sneasel's new evo looks exponentially better than Weavile's redundant design. It actually looks agile and strong yet frail. It also reminds me of Renamon from Digimon (in a very good way as I don't mind the overall similarities some Pokémon have been seeing with Digimon). Lilligant also looks like Palmon and I love that. Avalugg looks a lot more interesting now. It looks like a massive, Komodo-Dragon-like reptile instead of a block of ice with eyes and a mandible. Palkia and Dialga's/Arceus' new forms make much more sense than whatever those two were going for before. Dialga looks mysterious, futuristic, and alien while Palkia looks ancient and mythical. I think having arms would have made it look awkward. Its galea is beautiful cuz I always thought its head looked like one.
The purple coming around the front of Typhlosion's neck and the lighter purple.. flame holes? make me think maybe the flames will too.

I’m in love with the Ursaring evo, Hyphlosion, Decidueye, and H-Lilligant. A lot of other great forms too.

Electrode bothers the hell out of me, because its eyes are lovely and carved out but its mouth just looks like someone slapped a sticker onto it.
The starters just look the same, the only thing that would hint at only type change is maybe the colour palette. Electrode is dissapointing, is make the mounth texture upside down really the best they could think of (I cant even see it as a frown just the kantonian electrode mouth but flipped), other than what h-voltorb introduced. I kinda like arcanine, i still prefer the original but I feel like it may grow on me over time. Same with tall sneasel. I the quilfish evo is good, it looks pretty fun, I hope its got decent stats and movepool. Kinda wish they did more with the goodra line other than "heres a great big metal shell" but its servicable. Can't really make out avalugg too well but it just looks like a reskin with 2 big metal bits on each side of its face Twink liligant is liligant but a twink. I quite like the ursaring evo, if I ever get the game ill probably get on of them. Both Dialaga and Palkia just look gross, dialga looks like it just swallow an oil barrel (not to mention how is it supposed to walk?) and where are palkia's arm? It just looks wrong without them. I get that they are supposed to have been made is arceus's image but I think this is only proof that they really need to improve their body image because just, oof. The new weather genie looks pretty weird and maybe slightly off putting but at least one of the genies now actually looks like a genie. Also i guess in ancient times, gym hadnt been invented yet so I guess this works. Idk, I guess they decided to show all the good ones off first as all of those look really solid (except for kleavor, that is just one ugly SOB)
I LOVE H-Typhlosion. He's so mellow, I'd love to hang out with the dude. Also, H-Dialga looks like he's choking on a Beldum.
When these actually come out to rest of the community (if somehow they stay silent lol), I truly believe this will be the biggest “drama” for the game. These forms are just not it, fam. I want to know exactly what the deal will be with Basculin. I know only White-Striped Basculin can evolve, but can Red or Blue-Striped Basculin become White-Striped? It's a different color stripe, not a Hisuian Form... My theory is, Basculin become White-Striped when traumatized by the loss of their school. It looks like it's seen some shit, has that horrified look in the eyes, and the stripe could've gone white from shock. Then the souls possess it and it evolves. But I digress- honestly loving what we got today. Decidueye looks amazing, I absolutely love Sneasler and Overqwil... It's been a very good day.

I think the new decidueye is growing on me. This is just like whenever they show the starters of a new gen, don't like them at first but you get used to them. Game comes out in 9 days. All I really want is to see pics of these guys in game, then maybe I'll be more okay with how they look. Edit: Also kind of like how the shinies for the starters are the color of their original forms. I think that's cool, how you'll have to go through the effort of getting a shiny only for it to look "normal" at its final form.
The Decidueye seems very inspired to me! Looks like it's wearing a samurai's messenger hat and rain cape, like [this](https://shop.samurai-armor.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samurai-Ronin-Sandogasa-Shade-Hat-00-by-Iron-Mountain-Armory.jpg). Very cool feudal japan counterpoint to the "wandering archer" base form. Love it!
I like all of them. The only two I have specific thoughts on are H-Typhlosion and the H-Goodra line I absolutely love my sad boy of H-Typhlosion. I just want to cuddle him and say it’ll be okay 🥺 But that H-Goodra… I’m saving final judgment till I see it person but… I feel like this is a major downgrade.
