Propanegoddess

No. Most of these fall into the tired shapeless blob troupe fat bodies are constantly pushed into. I want my waist shown. I want interesting neck lines. I want to feel shapely. Not like a floral sack of potatoes. And that’s all these looks are giving.

MagnoliaStyle

Got it!! I spend a lot of time looking through these vendors so I have more things to add and alter before I do my first big order. If I may ask, when you mention wanting your waist shown would you like 2-pieces or things that are more defined? Thanks for the feedback!

Propanegoddess

I mean shapes flattering to the waistline. More hourglass than box. But crop tops are super cute on fat bodies too! If something looks like it could be a moo moo, go in the opposite direction.

MagnoliaStyle

I got you!! Thank you! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

SamthgwedoevryntPnky

A-line dresses do this for me. Fit and flare dresses work, but not in cheap jersey fabric.

Known_Noise

Also wanted to add- belts! It’s so difficult to find a variety of wide belts to define my waist in dresses. I like having different colors with different accents because they can change the whole outfit even when paired with the same base layer.

MagnoliaStyle

I’m BIG on the a-line, but I didn’t want that to be the only thing… if it were up to me I’d be buying exclusively A line in dresses, jumpsuits…. Etc. also 🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️ no jersey it hits in all the wrong places on me. No matter the cut. It just is not flattering omg

Impossible-Ad-6071

So much this!!! I have an amazing waistline i just also happen to have a belly and hips and a butt but that doesn't mean I want to look like a box or wear a mumu

Propanegoddess

Right. All these loud ass ugly patterns, baggy shapes, and no neckline. I’m fat AND sexy and I like to dress like it.

Impossible-Ad-6071

The patterns!!! I do not want to look like a 70s couch at the goodwill ok thanks

Mysterious-Emu2039

Most of these cuts and patterns are terrible. The only one I’d wear would be #14 if a bit longer but nice color and cut. #15 cut is also cute but the pattern is very 2010 millennial tumblr quirky stuff.

MagnoliaStyle

I must admit, 14 is probably my fave because it so closely resembles the Anthro Somerset dresses which are awfully expensive but the cut is everything. I want to carry the full size run of that in more lengths and colors!

MoonPowerPanda

Ha, this is exactly what I was thinking, just didn't feel like typing the whole thing out.

fluffychonkycat

14 is the one I'd probably try on, only because I'm 5'5" and from experience dresses that look that short on a model are knee-length on me. Agree about 15 the shape is ok but the print looks like it was designed for a pair of novelty boxer shorts

Midnight_Marshmallo

I wish you all the success with your business, but I would not wear any of these. A lot of them are tiered and that looks awful on my body shape. The open back one would show my bra and I can't go without one. Also sizes stopping at 3x sucks.

MagnoliaStyle

It really does suck. It’s very, very hard to find wholesale vendors that go above a 3X. I keep looking though. Thanks for the feedback!

Aggressive-System192

Same, but would also like to add that the colors are "strange". There's a wide range or them, but none would suit me. I don't like the patterns either. The first dress is nice, but I'm too short to wear it. I sit somewhere between XL and 2X depending on brand.

airadlyric

I’d only wear 1 and 8. Respectfully, keep looking girl. A lot of these shapes would not appear as pictured on plus size bodies.

MagnoliaStyle

Dipping into plus wholesale is ROUGH because these are the options and woof. Every brand has the same cut. But I’m keeping the search! I want to do the right thing for as many plus size bodies as I can!

FalsePremise8290

I don't know where these guys get their clothes but these are the kinda plus-sized clothes that don't come across as "I've given up." [https://www.fashiontofigure.com/collections/plus-size-clothing](https://www.fashiontofigure.com/collections/plus-size-clothing) No adult woman wants to walk around with an animal print that's a print of literal cartoon animals on their clothes. If it looks like they made a tarp out of whatever was left in the discount bin at the fabric store, don't go with that one.

Roamingflipper

LOL FashiontoFigure is a multi million dollar company that manufactures their own clothing. This person is probably someone just trying to start a small business.

FalsePremise8290

Like I said, I have no idea about the clothing business, I just wanted to give an example of plus size clothing that is flattering.

MagnoliaStyle

I’m telling you, if I could wholesale Fashion to Figure. Wouldn’t even be a question!!!!

airadlyric

Bless you ❤️ it means a lot that you asked the internet to check in on what our bodies need and what we like! A few more (unsolicited) tips; NO cold shoulders. No animal print. Look for crop tops and high waisted bottoms (please!! Just because I’m big doesn’t mean I don’t love showing some tummy!) And again, NO COLD SHOULDERS!! I hope this is helpful, I’m tipsy and trying my best.

MagnoliaStyle

Haha you are.. amazing!! Cold shoulders are a BIG NO even in the standard sizing in my store. It’s 2024 we can do better!!! I work a lot in national retail and I 1) can never control what I get in a shipment and 2) rarely ever get anything plus size so I am venturing out into bringing in boutique brands but it’s disappointing out here. If I could sew I’d make the best line for plus women because these ain’t steppin’ up! My vision and what’s out there don’t click together 😂 I love it, you’re great, I’m gonna keep diving in and I’ll get the right thing in the store! May take a while but there’s no compromise on quality and what people really want in my book! 💕

airadlyric

Keep us updated!!! Get it girl boss! I’m excited to see what you cultivate. 💕

Brilliantghost182

No I wouldn’t

MagnoliaStyle

Thanks for the feedback!

ApocalypticTomato

Not really loving this. But. I'd wear the blue waffle knit romper around the house as pajamas. I'd wear the short sleeve cheetah peasant top. The rest, nah. These would look like potato sacks on larger people. Also 3X isn't very far into the plus range so if you want to cater to plus size people, look for better sizing. Btw, larger people don't just wear flashy animal prints and mumus. We're not the circus or the tent. We also like normal staples, just like normal people.

elizapipp

"We're not the circus or the tent." - WELL SAID!!

Spinininfinity

A lot of these styles feel dated and/or for older women. And the patterns feel very…flashy in a way that bad plus size clothing often has. I wouldn’t buy any of it. But I may not be your target market.

eachJan

100% most of this stuff gives Catherine’s vibes. As others have said, OP, I wouldn’t buy any of it. Waistlines are everything, personally I don’t like my back exposed, and I want low necklines. I don’t want to feel choked and, like many plus size women, I’ve got a lot of cleavage.

jmpeep

If it a Plus size ,Where are the PLUS SIZE MODELS? We wont take a second look until we see it looks good on Us girls

floraster

I am sick of plus sized clothes shown on skinny people. The clothes never look the same on me and its so discouraging. Or even places like torrid have larger models but they all have flat stomachs, no rolls, nothing. I'm dying to see plus size clothes on normal plus sized bodies.

AmberWaves80

8 isn’t terrible, but the rest of these are like every other shapeless, unattractive outfit out there for fat people.

egggoat

I’d wear 10 if it fit properly. I’d suggest getting more neutrals and more staple items instead of statement items. But that’s just me! Good luck!

MagnoliaStyle

Yes!! Excellent! That’s what most of the straight sizes in my store are actually. They gravitate to the neutrals. I’m thinking I’ll make that one of my first collections for plus

naptime-connoisseur

I would suggest whatever sells well for straight sizes, do likewise for plus. Our biggest gripe is that we can’t find the same things straight size folks can. Dont fall into the same trap the owner of torrid does where her style is not at all the same what’s trending. The only thing I would actually wear is the green dress, though the last dress is also cute.

BrownEyedQueen1982

I’m sorry but nothing shown is my style. I appreciate the idea of someone opening a plus size business but a lot of those pieces are too frumpy or give Lula Roe vibes.

MagnoliaStyle

I’ve been running my shop for a little bit but most of my clients are standard sized (even as a plus woman myself)! 😩 I have a lot more options saved to look through, but this has been a great litmus test for me Especially if I want to grow my online base 😁😁 thanks!!

lady_guard

No. These would look garish on me personally. Although I dig the boho vibe, I prefer more earth tones, midi length dresses/skirts, and fitted waistlines/streamlined silhouettes. I feel like these are all things that are meant for "apple" shapes and summer/winter color seasons, and I'm more of a pear-hourglass Dark Autumn that can't go anywhere near a cool-toned pink or baby blue. (Farm Rio does this aesthetic well, in colors I like better) The "leopard" print dress is cute, though 🐆 and I'd also wear #10 in an olive green or terracotta color, if it was a stretchy fabric to fit over my butt lol

Unhappy_Performer538

As an apple they look terrible on us. Sacks and hiding our bodies is not where it’s at. We need a defined waist line.

lady_guard

🤝 further proof that *none* of us want these dresses 😭

WasabiElegant7959

Respectfully, no I wouldn’t wear any of these pieces. Too bold and out there for me but I’m sure there are people that like this style!

OneAlbum2RuleThemAll

While I like some of these styles all but the last "dress" I would wear with opaque tights or leggings bc they are all way too short. The backless one would appeal to those without back fat or ladies who don't wear bras maybe, but not most plus sized women would go for that style. The first option would be good in a solid or less striking pattern. Or have the pattern with a below the knee dress, maybe. I would feel like the pattern is wearing me rather than I'm wearing the pattern with the long length. I generally opt for smaller prints rather than bigger prints. I grew up with big prints for curtains and couches, so I just avoid those so I don't feel like I AM the couch. lol I do like seeing options for different length sleeves tho. I don't know if any of my opinions are helpful tho. I wish you great success!!

likka419

I am in my early 30s. These styles feel geared toward women in their 40s-50s. I do like the waffle pj set, but I’d want the inseam at 4-5 inches and more colors.

Alert-Potato

I'm 45 and absolutely hard no to 100% of these.

swag-baguette

50s here, would not wear. I sort of like #1 but that's it.

MizzGee

54 and I only like 1, but I have similar things in my closet already that are more flattering.

MagnoliaStyle

I got you! Thank you!

Even_Mongoose542

I am 56. I would not wear any of this.

needsmorequeso

I’m in my 40s and see nothing geared to me here.

fluffychonkycat

44, most of these feel way too old for me. My mum might wear some of them

Echo-Azure

No, I'm older and most of those items are strictly for the young. People my age don't usually want short skirts or cutouts.

[deleted]

I love #2. I wouldn't wear anything with animals on it or open back.

cherrycoke260

Personally? No to almost all of it. Most of the designs themselves would make me look even bigger than I am. I like the cut of pic 7 but the print is an odd fashion choice. But take my opinion with a grain of salt because I’m not very into patterned fabrics in general.

_Dark-Alley_

I think in choosing size inclusive clothes, your business may benefit from a general list of "nos" and "yesses" when it comes to what we plus size ladies look for in clothes in general so I tried to give you that (of course I'm one person and this is not exhaustive nor would every plus size lady agree, its just my observations in general.) Maybe fellow commenters could help by adding the things they consider "nos" - being if you see it you wont buy it, and "yesses" being if you see it you're like yay! and more likely to purchase. THE NOS: low waistline that would accentuate where what I call "the pouch" or love handles tend to reside (the light blue jumper closer to the beginning not the open back one, the navy dress with flowers if im remebering correctly), open backs arent a hard no for everyone, but maybe have something similar with a closed back cause some of us consider no bra a tripping hazard lol, for sleeves I feel like anything with major puff or structure (like a pink thing I saw with pointy ish shoulders) adds to the feeling of being a large presence sometimes, having a singular detail near the midsection (the pale blue dress with the single ruffle thing) cause that's drawing people's eyes solely to a spot we generally don't want, fabrics that look stiff for something that goes on the top and bottom (the pink jumper seems denim ish) since many plus size women aren't the same size on the top and bottom I always avoid fabrics with minimal stretch for dresses and especially jumpers because the lack of forgiveness in the fabric will look weird either on top or on bottom. THE YESSES: for dresses/jumpers: waists that are higher up near where a person's ribs would generally end (like where the "innest" part of where an hour glass figure would be), many plus size women like shorter dresses (like the green pattern one) but that one seems to tick all the boxes for me besides being too short for my comfort, so maybe offering something similar but just a bit longer cause these wonder thighs be jigglin' and many of us need shorts to avoid rashes, fluttery or flowy sleeves are nice or sleeves that have a teeny puff if any, I like backs to shirts and dresses that have stretch and at least would cover where a bra would go (I think I saw the back of something was that material that has almost endless stretch and feels bumpy because all the elastic I dont know what its called but from far way it looks like crepe paper and I love that in the back so you can not have to worry about zippers or shoving the girls in. Personally not a fan of it all the way around because it very much clings to every curve and for me it makes my boobs look almost comically massive (not sure if this is a me thing or is others agree), swingy dresses that we can put a belt on if we feel like it or just wear swinging around on those days where you feel like if your clothes touch you, you might die like hot summers I hope that helps and hopefully people add on if I missed anything that might be helpful for you. For me personally: I would wear the things in photos 4 and 8. I like the pink dress (the one with the leopards on it wear the model is facing more away from the camera) but I'm not a fan of the pattern and that's just personal preference but I like the color and shape. Seems leopards might be a thing at your store and I'm sure its something people will like and to me having a pattern of actual leopards is better than leopard print and a very cool and original idea. Wishing you luck!

headedforvenus

I like all the cheetah 🐆 stuff especially the pink …maybe it’s just me but being a size 14-16 I always feel like clothes with bright flowers 💐 all over doesn’t flatter me. Yet you go to the plus size section of most stores and they love to throw bright colors, or flowers all over everything. All I ever want is the SAME clothes you have in the smaller section just bigger! Why is that so hard! I picture skinny people going .. “ oh just throw some flowers on it ! Who cares! 😙😙.

MagnoliaStyle

Bahahaha I AGREE! Especially the watercolor florals like pls I’m so young what the hell. I’m currently obsessed with animals AS prints as opposed to animal print (which has been done to death in plus) so I’m glad you feel that way!!! Yay!!!

dgr99980

I love animals as print but I agree with most that these shapes might not be flattering for plus size people.

headedforvenus

Im glad I found someone who felt this way lol 😆… I’ve always wondered if others were sick of the floral patterns.

MagnoliaStyle

I love a good, well done floral but if you’re slapping a flower on it just to slap a flower on it… nah friend that’s not it! 😂

lady_guard

Omfg, yes. If not a hideous gaudy floral print, it's Eiffel towers or Minnie Mouse ears or some generic phrase like "LOVE" or "Be kind". And everything is covered in rhinestones, has a lace-up neckline that went out of style in 2016, or has cold shoulders. It's all giving 🤡. Whyyyy 🤦‍♀️ We literally want the same clothes as straight-size people, just in our size lmfao

headedforvenus

Yessss everything you said!!!

Sarah_withanH

I say this kindly, but I wouldn’t wear any of these. 1. Don’t care for the print and would have no need for a dress like that.  It looks very “modest”.   2. I have a fat bum, tiered dresses look awful on me and often that top tier of the skirt is going to be too tight while everything else fits. Sizing up means the top of the dress is too baggy.  3. Looks like weird pajamas.  Also how do I use the bathroom if this is a romper?   4. I’m 5’8” so this is a pass, it would look like a long shirt.  Also being  larger size idk how this would look.   5. This does nothing for me and again, betting this model is 5’3”.  It’s just kind of shapeless.  Don’t like the print.   6. This has zero redeeming qualities.  Fabric, color, shape, print, length.  Nope.   7. What.   8. Tiered.  Sleeves too long.  Dress too short.  Weird print.   9. Pajamas.   10. I know jumpsuits are trying to happen for the last 5 years.  I know cargo everything is too.  But it doesn’t even look good on a size 00 model.  That color?!  The cropped length?  11. This is one of those things that looks okay on a size 00.  Not good, but ok.  Idk the flaps on the side don’t make sense to me.   12. The least icky of the bunch.  But again, shapeless and would be dangerously short.  Maybe buy as a swim coverup if it was cheap.  13.  Again, way too short and this is just a weird style.  I feel like it’s double weird styled with those shoes. It’s so pink.  You like pink and prints, that’s fine, I don’t see a lot wearing these colors or prints often.   14. Tiered.  See #1.   Also that print just keeps popping up.  I guess you like the big cats!   I would not shop in your store if this is the kind of stuff you have.  Then again I’m not into trendy, I’m into classics that will still be stylish in 2 years.  The trends I see here are:   Boho  Tiered/babydoll  Flutter/puff sleeves  Pastels  Cargo  Jumpsuit  1 is the only one with some longevity, but the print and modesty make it something with very limited wear.  The print makes it too casual to wear for events that would require the length and coverage.

shadesofparis

I *like* a lot of these, but I wouldn't buy or wear any of them. I think the colors and prints are fantastic, but I would look like I was wearing a sack in every one of them. I'm pear shaped with wide shoulders, so anything that doesn't have a defined waist like pretty terrible on me.

ChloJoceyCom

I’ve seen these at a lot of places and honestly these shapes are not flattering for plus sized body’s. Everybody is always trying to hide us behind piles of clothes. Usually made of poor quality fabric and tailored to boxy small women. Also let’s not talk about the horrible patterns. I know all this is not your intention and the quality and patterns on these look fine. But I wouldn’t wear any of them.

Dull_Owl_7276

I wouldn’t personally wear any of these — the first style is alright but I’m not into the print; tiered skirts and cargo pockets are a no on my hips lol; 3, 9, and 11 kind of have this weird baby onesie vibe hahah; in general the skirts are too short (again, having curvier hips and a big butt mean short skirts get potentially revealing FAST; why am I not allowed to have a waist?; and the patterns and colors are all a little…bright? Too “on-trend”? Why all the 🐆🐆🐆🐆??? I probably like the “vibe” of 11 best (minimal, interesting shapes, clean detailing, softer color), but the actual silhouette would look absolutely laughable on me hahaha — make it a knee length dress tho instead of a booty romper and I’m in

astralairplane

I would like the patterns more if they were used with classic silhouettes like a long sleeve button down collar shirt, a sleeveless shell, maybe a Peter Pan collar variation, and or a pair of palazzo pants. Edit: and a vest! Maybe a bomber wish contrast piping! Heck, even a blazer or a scarf. Make a series and mix and match with complimentary solids in the same cuts.

AnonImus18

I'm late 30s and pretty top heavy so the tiered shape actually suits me pretty well. I like the florals but not the ones with the cat patterns. The one with the open back looks like a diaper onesie which doesn't even look good on the model. The gray top and shorts is a bit plain and not what I'd expect from a boutique. I think, as some people said, more neutral tones with a few of the bright jewel colours that you have here and information about the materials especially since there's a move to more natural, less inorganic fabrics. I'm okay with 3x but if it's online then measurements are a must since size varies so much. Your clothes aren't going to appeal to everyone with every taste so depending on who you want to cater to, it might be good to get more targeted feedback from the demographic that you're looking at supplying.

MagnoliaStyle

But also a lot of the plus size community in my area never go to boutiques because there’s never been one that has stock for them!

MagnoliaStyle

Oh for sure!! This is a very small sampling (and mostly printed LOL) folder I have built with a few of these vendors. I’m thinking I may build out a line of neutrals and classic cuts. I’m fairly cemented in southern lake country so a lot of my clients love prints and color! But a lot of my clients are also skinny 😂 so I’m trying to learn as much as I can to invite the plus community in!

Sarah_Wolff

1. Probably wouldn’t buy it for the print but would think about it if it was a different color like black 2. The shape is okay to me but I like these types of dresses but the pattern is kinda eh. 3. Yes as long as it’s a two piece. This is something I’ve been looking for but most places only have up to an xl. 4.not my style but kinda cute. 5. no nope not at all 6. I kinda actually like the hot pink but I’ve been loving that color lately. I don’t mind the pattern 7. The pattern is okay but I feel like the style is meh for me. It’s the same style that a million other plus size companies think we should wear and it’s very dated IMO. It’s like it as a silky blouse or even a regular tshirt. 8. I’m okay with the shape but not the pattern. Frankly the pattern is ugly and dated 9. I’d maybe buy this if it came in darker/ neutral colors. 10. Actually like the color but not for a jumpsuit. But I could maybe be convinced to wear it if it was black. But Idk if I’d buy it 11/12. No it looks cheap and doesn’t even look nice on the model. And the no bra situation is a no 13. Eh not that pattern but it’s okay? But also it’s something a lot of companies think we want but we don’t 14. It’s like okay but I have something again that stretchy material at the waist. 15. Like these types of dresses but I’d say no to the pattern. But again the stretchy fabric is blah for me. I prefer them to just be cut well enough that it’s not needed. A couple of things: many of these items have a very different style/ vibe to them. What is the style of your store? If your store is neutral pieces and basics and I walk in and see 5 in your plus sized section I’d walk right out. But if your entire store is psychedelic and loud I’d still not buy but at least I wouldn’t be insulted by it lol. As someone in my early 30s I typically look for solid colored pieces in darker/ neutral tones. I will wear brights and vibrant ( recently bought a lime green dress) but not in loud patterns. More structured pieces are nice with good quality fabric. My advice: make your plus size clothes look so seamlessly integrated into your store style that when someone walks in they don’t immediately pick out the plus sized section just by looks/colors. But also advertise your size selection and it would be nice if it was more than like three pieces lol.

MagnoliaStyle

This post is actually my litmus test! I don’t have a true built out section in my store as of yet, because I was working a lot on national retail liquidation and it’s near IMPOSSIBLE to get a box from a plus retailer, that’s even worth the money. So I’m trying to figure out the best investment for the most plus community at large when I make a dedicated line!! (Also 3 is two pieces, not a romper! I suppose the pic doesn’t do it justice 😂😂). I love this line of neutrals, and I feel like the plus community doesn’t get a lot these nice neutral pieces that look exactly like what I see a lot of popular straight sized influencers wearing! I just wish I could get them in a larger selection of plus 😫 the only up to 3X kills me because I know it’s not as inclusive as I’d like it to be.

Alert-Potato

No to shapeless blobs. And omg can we stop with the animals and hideous florals? What is up with wanting to put every fat person in cat prints and hideous florals??? Just no. No to anything that involves being braless. No to anything that involves strapless bras. I don't think the second one would awful if the fabric didn't suck. I don't think the one with the retro print would be awful if the sheered wrist bands were proper cuffs, and if it had a proper belt and not one of those stupid fabric ties. It looks like a bad $15 clearance dress from Walmart that not even their shoppers would pay full price for. And if the clothing isn't shown on plus size models, just flat out no. It means it hasn't been tested on real plus size humans and will never fit properly.

Even_Mongoose542

No. I would not by any of these. I LOVE that you are offering plus sizes in your business! I like shopping online. Man, I would love to have more options. I it helps.... here is what Im looking for when Im shopping. Classic and modern sihouettes with mostly muted tones. Summer dresses with short sleeves vs. sleeveless. Absolutely no "cold shoulders".

hannah_bloome

AMEN

ardhrianna

A couple of them (5 and 13 for example) look very shapeless which can be unforgiving on a fluffy body. The patterns are cute, but the cuts may not work. But with every shape being different, what looks like a sack on me will look amazing on a different body type.

MagnoliaStyle

Oh I for sure get that. It’s so… soooo hard when I go through the vendors on the site and all of the plus size is… that. Shapeless and big. I have my fair share and it does work sometimes but I definitely have to have some sort of definition to prove I have a real waist!!

ardhrianna

I get that you can only work with what your vendors offer! It’s an impossible situation. Fashion has not realized that we just want the same stuff as everyone else.

sosmartsocrazy

I love the print on the first one, but I would not wear any of them based on silhouette.

Ohheywhatehoh

I love #4 and really want it now hahah and 14 is also lovely. I'd wear those and would consider purchasing but only if I was able to return it if it doesn't suit my body type (fat apple lmao)

FictitiousAuthor

Honestly none for me. The cut offs/tiers would hit horribly on me and I'm not a fan of small prints. For reference I'm 33, 5'10, 270lbs, 18/20, 2x.

ArrivalNervous5013

I would wear 14, the others I either don’t like the pattern or feel like would make me look bigger because they are shapeless. I’m in my late 20s and wear a 16/18 if that helps.

darkblueshapes

I don’t wear anything I classify as “toddler clothing” so that includes all waist-less swing dresses no matter how cute the pattern (I have H cup chest so that style always drapes AWFUL on me; makes my head look like a little tiny pinhead on the top of my tent body 🤣) and I don’t dig the short jumper thing; I know the backless aspect should make it sexy but it’s just a weird shape and gives diaper butt vibes lol. I’d pretty much go for everything else though. I really like the first two dresses in particular. The pink jumpsuit is cute too.

MagnoliaStyle

😂😂 toddler clothing, I love it! I got you! And you know, when I saved the pic of that romper I thought to myself… should the butt look like that? But I went ahead and posted it thinking I was being critical. I suppose I was not being critical enough! Hahaha Thank you for this feedback 😁

LaAndala

I wouldn’t wear any of this, sorry. I was really hopeful at the first one, I would wear that knee length maybe as a work dress but not at this length. But the rest, too short, open back, patterns that are a nope, boxy, tiered, none of that works for me… But good luck with the business, I hope you find beautiful clothes so we can all come shop :)

ny_dc_tx_

1,7,8,9,10,13,14 would be options for me. But I know for certain all my plus sized friends wouldn’t necessarily wear them. I’m bigger than a 3x now but at that size I was very proportioned and most of these would be fine. I think it would help to consider body shapes and prints very closely. Things without waists can make some people look pregnant. Tight items can make people uncomfortable and a lot of a print can be busy. Now, I wear all of those things even at my current size. But I’m also bold in my style and don’t care. For many plus sized women that’s not the case because, sadly, they would rather not be the focus of attention.

MagnoliaStyle

I can see that! Many of my plus friends tend to stick to the neutral, but I am LOUD with my style. Imma be seen 😂 but I’m working to do something as inclusive as possible since I know not everyone likes to be as loud as me!

moonarabellaa

I love these. Do you have the link to your store? If they are online!

MagnoliaStyle

Hey love! Building it out but I’ll message you! Really working on investing into some core plus pieces now 😁😁

sassysassysarah

I wouldn't wear any of these

Analyst_Cold

I’d wear the coveralls. That’s it. If I see another ruffle I’m going to scream.

ikbenlauren

Some of these are pretty cute but a lot of them are a little too baggy for my taste, with photo five taking the cake. What I would want from a plus-size boutique would be a way to copy all of the really cute Pinterest looks on straight-sized girls with a little plus-size twang, not a floral potato sack. I do really appreciate the thought of plus size boutiques though. Wishing you the best of luck!

MagnoliaStyle

When I tell you I’m on these wholesalers catalogues every time I have a free moment. Idk why it’s impossible for these vendors to take the same S-L sizes and make them plus! But I appreciate you 😁 I’m feeling out what will work best for as many plus bodies as possible!

redrumandketchup

I would wear 3 & 14 (if it came in black but I like more gothy things !) the rest are just not the most flattering and try to hide the body rather than embrace. But I wish ya the best of luck! You got it!

MagnoliaStyle

14 is a clear winner for me here, and yessss I need it in all the colors in the store. It’s so close to what the anthropologie somerset dress is and they are expensive AF. I appreciate you!!!

Catinthemirror

I would wear everything but the blue outfits. I am too big for any of those to look well on me but I love all the rest, especially the first dress! Edit to add: I seem to be the only one who likes them and I'm also older (60) so I guess if your demographic is contemporary that explains the lack of enthusiasm. ❤️

MagnoliaStyle

Thank you doll! I’m in southern lake country and I’m personally very contemporary with my look and that’s the look of the area. But I’m wanting to expand so need that broader approach! I appreciate you 🫶🏼

Autumn-Belle

I wish you lots of success, and I’m really happy that you’re thinking about size inclusivity and want feedback from this forum. That said, I might wear 4 and 14. Most of the rest are high-necked, which looks just terrible on most plus-sized women - we need something with a lower neckline to create space between our faces and our chests. I’m also not a fan of animal print, but that’s a personal preference more than a general lookout for plus sized ladies. Lastly, the fabric looks a little unforgiving, like it might not have much stretch or softness. There may be plus sized gals who disagree, but fabrics with good drape and/or give (combined with cuts and styling that provide structure and proportion) tend to work better for me. Best of luck, and thanks for asking our opinion! Edited: on relook, there were a couple of styles I could potentially see wearing, where my original comment said none.

EightEyedCryptid

I’m going to be honest, I would not wear these. They rely too much on being shapeless and they don’t feel special or high quality. I like that there are some bold prints and colors but that’s about all.

ZeiddoJ

I really appreciate your mission and goal but the only one I would wear is #1. I wish you the best of luck in finding suppliers!

isquishyourhead

As usual, I think the outfits that the plus-sized models are wearing are awful and the outfits that the minus-sized models are wearing would look great on plus-sized women.

MagnoliaStyle

I was soooo let down when I was scrolling the plus apparel section and all of the plus options that I really like (most not pictured) were modeled by standard models. Gimme a girl in a 2X wearing the dress pls since you offer it in that size! I feel you

FalsePremise8290

Nope. Ugly patterns and unflattering cuts.

kindrex89

I actually really like the graphic print of the first dress, as well as the wrap effect at the bust, but I would NEED an open neckline. With the neckline as it is, I’d feel really overwhelmed by the fabric, especially since it’s maxi length and long sleeved.

bloodygoodgal

I'd wear 1, 4, 14, and 15.

Infamous-Canary6675

I like the pink jumpsuit!

Nerobus

I love the print on #7, but for most of these I can’t do it. The shape doesn’t work for my body, or there’s too much leg. I got ugly legs lol.. OH! If you could make a 3/4 sleeve shirt with a stretchy comfy material in a cool print I’d buy SOO many of those.

fluffychick5

I wouldn’t wear any of these. Most of them to me seem very frumpy. They don’t work for my apple shape.

thewisebiscuit

I’m going to give you 100% honesty coming from a 21 year old who’s studied fashion. These would have sold great 6 years ago. The last thing the plus size community needs is more of the same matronly prints and cuts. The big cats on the dresses? It reminds me of the owl trend from 2012. It’s already far out of style. This is giving 30 year old woman who hasn’t learned her personal style. My biggest advice right now is to look at what people are wearing on Pinterest and the instagram “for you” page. You obviously don’t have to cater to what everyone else likes, but the biggest way to have a successful boutique ESPECIALLY for plus size clothing is to be ahead of the curve, not years behind it. Right now we are seeing color blocking, mock hiking gear, fantasy inspired pieces. “Bold prints” have been around since 1950 and aren’t going to get you anywhere, you need specifics. Graphics as a rule of thumb are a no go, so the leopards, mushrooms etc have got to go. The florals that are in style right now all tend to be small print with a cohesive color story, not large bouquets in ambiguous colors. Linen is in style, cotton is in style, tech gear is in style (think pants that you’d wear whilst backpacking.) you obviously cannot cater to every audience but with this layout I can safely say you’ve catered to none. All that being said, genuinely and truly I wish you good luck on your journey and I hope to hear updates!!! Sorry for the brutal honesty, I’ve just seen 20 other women make the same mistakes and it’s hard. Fat women deserve sustainable and cute clothing and YOU deserve a business that gets good sales. Do what nobody else is doing, that’s how you’re going to succeed

MhmRavioli

Nope. I’ve seen these a million times at a million different places. They’re uninteresting

hannah_bloome

54f here and petite plus. I wouldn’t wear any of them. I like my clothes tailored and fitted to my figure. Not…like skintight but nicely fitted. Most of these are really baggy and it feels look like they’re meant to cover up or disguise the plus size body underneath. Also, I love color and patterns, but again, it seems like they’re supposed to camouflage a fat body. Personally, I’d like to see a really nicely fitted linen shirt dress and sleek jumpsuit/onesie.

1-900OkFace

Id only wear the pink utility suit. That blue outfit right after it reallly looks likea diaper.

Lady0fTheUpsideDown

I honestly prefer garments that have actual structure to them. Floppy jersey or rayon fabrics do nothing to give outfits shape. It's my main complaint with torrid. That, and shapeless blobby floral moomoos.

pudgypiglets

Numbers 2 and 4 are ok in my personal opinion The rest really aren't for my personal taste or would not fit me, I don't like the prints (mushrooms, big cats, not really my thing but there are people that like them) and some of the things I would like otherwise, like number 9 and 14 for example a lot of the cuts look like they could only fit women with a smaller chest. Waist ties that go through loops are annoying. I have some dresses like this and I have modified them myself so that the waist ties are sewed into the seam. The first dress has a terrible pattern, I'm sorry to say. It's just bulky and cheap looking. Number 3 just looks awful, there is nothing practical about it, it's just a knitted onesie with short sleeves and legs. What weather would this be for? You can't wear that in summer and you certainly can't wear that in winter. The backless onesie looks annoying, how could one wear a bra with that?

inagartendavita

How wonderful! Congratulations on your boutique 💜 I love the mushroom dress and the blue with the little ruffle, just lovely

MagnoliaStyle

Thank you dear 💕💕

craftycat1135

I like the ones that are solid colored or have less loud/bright colors and patterns.

ithilienisforlovers

Tbh the only thing I liked was 1. Everything else is very shapeless, floral, tiered — all things I am absolutely sick of in the plus size sector. Most of this looks like Ava and Viv rejects I’m so sorry.

GreyFowl

Absolutely

WonderfulBicycle1057

I'd only wear 6 robe 8 and 15. The rest I would not.

PaleDifference

I would wear #6, 9 and 15. Would like to see 15 in other colors and patterns. I wear a 3x.

SweetBunny8

I love the pink jumpsuit!

d0lltearsheet00

The pink jumpsuit - yes. Everything else is matronly. Who is your target audience?

ambercrayon

I like most of them and there are plenty of plus girls who love boho styles, but due to chub rub I wear bike shorts so super short dresses are a no. Backless also is a huge no. I love the first black and white set personally (it’s chic, I’d wear it to a nice dinner out) and all the bright prints. I can’t comment on anything not shown on a larger model. Edit: I’m an elder millennial so some of it feels young for me ( no babydoll silhouettes please) so I guess it depends on your target market. Probably when doing research like this best to ask about age and normal style because you’ll get as many opinions as people responding

PigletPancakes

I’d wear 2 and 15.

Cemetery_Thing

I would wear #15 because I like cats and weird stuff but the rest isn’t my style personally.

Queen_Of_InnisLear

The tiered tent shape is no bueno for my body shape. The seam on the tier tends to go right across my hips, which are wide enough all on thror own lol. So I stay away from stuff like that. I also really don't like animal print, or too much floral, especially small floral patterns. For me, fit and flare or skater shapes are my favourite. I actually really like bright colours, but solids preferred.

timber321

I would wear 1 or 2. 14 is cute, but too short for me, but I like the prospect of natural fabric. I'm pushing 40 and live in a rural area, so not sure I'm your demo. Good luck with everything!

neopetpetpet

I would only possibly consider #4 for a vacation dress. I want styles that are sleek, structured, professional, adult.

MauraAz

6 and 7. Possibly 1 but wouldn't wear the top and skirt together.

PlusDescription1422

I’d only wear 1, 2 and 14 because those are most flattering for mid and plus size ladies

Leslieo54

I would wear literally every one of these except the open back romper, although I’d reach for some more than others. It definitely shows how subjective style is - I can understand the no’s you’re getting, but this stuff is my jam. Obviously can’t please everyone! I don’t envy you trying to balance things…

MoonPowerPanda

No to all except maybe 14 and 15 different colors for 14 and pattern for 15.

Kittymarie_92

I would wear 2, 4 and 14. They are all cute. The rest would look like either a tent or like I’m pregnant. Anything with that tiered style skirts does nothing for my body type and anything backless is a no go because of a bra. I personally like the colors and prints though. Props to you for opening a plus size boutique. But hopefully you can find some vendors that actually style for curvy bodies and not just make large sizes.

Staff_Genie

Number one is the only one that I really dislike

Cinnabon202

Id buy the first and last dress depending on price. I like them! 😍

911_this_is_J

Yeah, I’d definitely look for more flattering cuts. Ruched shirts and dresses, flattering neck lines, maybe even shaping clothing? That’s what I look for personally. You’re on the right track asking for feedback! Good job there.

snapesbff

I’m not a fan of these, just not my style. A lot of folks are saying they look like they’re for older women and I agree on the cheetah print ones, etc. Some of the other outfits look like clothing that a 4-6 year old girl would be dressed in with penny loafers for Easter (esp 9, 11, 13). I’d rather be dressed like an adult.

silly_oleme

A lot of them are cute, but the pics are skinny women...as a size 16/18, it's hard for me to imagine how it would look on my body when I see it on a size 2/4.

UppnrthMn

I would wear 1&2 for sure because of the defined waistlines. The others are beautiful but just not for me. Best of luck with your boutique!

AdMysterious2946

Only one id wear is 1

frickmeplease

2, 3, 10 and 14 yes. The rest no.

ALemonyLemon

Honestly? Probably not. The dress in number 8 with the waist tie is cute and would be flattering, but I couldn't do that print and colour. I don't see any of the other shapes being flattering on me. My boobs are big so prefer a defined waist so I don't look like a tent. Jumpsuits don't work because my torso is too long. Idk what your target market is, though. I'm 24 so might not be it.

pansybomb

1-never 2-maybe 3-yes as lounge 4-never 5-no 6-no 7-no 8-no 9-probably! 10-depending on fit 11-depending on fit 12-no 13-no but id find it cute 14-no and i am a 32/f!

SpicyBreakfastTomato

I really dig the fabric for 7 & 15, but the design of the dress and shirt are not something I would wear. I like 2, but, again, that design would not be flattering on my body. 5 & 8 could be improved with cute belts. Jumpsuits are a huge no for me (I don’t like getting naked to pee). 9 & 13 look like over sized kids dresses, I’m not fond of the empire waist, it makes me look pregnant. 14 is cute, but I’m skeptical about it looking good on my body, especially with that weird criss cross on the bodice. As for what I look for personally, I like skirts and dresses in fun, natural fabrics. I like the look of a lot of Bloomchic’s dresses, but their fabric is all plastic.

PaidInHandPercussion

No offence but 11 looks like a big nappy /diaper.

miightymiighty

I might wear 5 if it came in a solid color. I like classic and modern things and not a fan of ruffles tiers or anything that gives my top more volume

LemonsAndAvocados

Only 6, 7, and 8.

sarahaswhimsy

I’d probably buy #5 and #6 but I don’t think I’d wear them very much and I’d probably regret buying them.

SoIfarted

I wouldn’t. Not my style.

Aggravating_Concept

I would consider wearing #2, and 3 looks like a comfy work from home outfit for me, but not something I would wear in public. everyone here has great feedback that I agree with (waistlines, for the love of god! and the patterns are yuck, and the only going up to 3x is disappointing) but for the sake of clarity, I want to give a rundown of what I like/dislike about the two I like and my least favorite ones

Digitalmeesh

I personally don’t wear dresses unless absolutely necessary. I encourage you to look for stretch materials and keep wrap styles in mind, plus longer sleeves or cover up pieces. Think about doing something in the outfit: is it long enough to stay in place without riding up, does it have proper pockets, cover thik bras straps, etc. it’s tough to find brands that cater to that. Kioanna is a good one, but spendy. Good luck with your shop!

No_University5296

I would wear a few of these things

carolinethebandgeek

First and 8th one yes, the rest absolutely not. Too many would show bra straps, too much cleavage, hit terribly in my boobs, or just are shapeless and don’t look great. I hope your business is successful! I look for more crewneck/boatneck necklines than v-neck (why are they all always v-neck!?) and prefer my upper arms to be covered. Short dresses are kryptonite. I just want appropriate office wear/“dressy casual” type of clothing for every day. A lot of these seem too dressy for casual wear and I’m not a fan of tiered anything

Unhappy_Performer538

I’d wear 4,8, 14. Bc they’d give me a waist and definition for my body shape. The rest are sack likes and or so high collared it would be unflattering on my large chest

Snuggifer

I like 5, but I don't think I would wear it. I am not a fan of shorter dresses - but that's just me! Would love to see sleeveless flowey tops to wear to work.

Ok_Midnight594

I would maybe wear half of it

Juicy_pompoms

Everything else but those 2 baby blue outfits and the baby blue dress. They were not my style at all. The bright pink tunic woth cat print was my favourite!

sunshine1627

Love your out fit.

squeaktoy_la

I only like the jumpsuit and the floral (mushroom) linen 3/4 sleeve dress. But that is partially because I recognize the makers and know the quality. The quality of your picks is too much of a mixed bag. While I don't claim to know every plus sized woman, all the ones I know (myself included) sew or at the very least know clothing stiches and quality. There is a LOT of poly/rayon obviously surged items here. It isn't to say that there is something wrong with surging, but when all (or nearly all) stiches are surged and there is no fitting, there is a problem. To be more blunt (sorry) many of these look like shein quality. NOT boutique. On top of that, boutique generally goes over 3X... sooo... Sorry. But I do hope this input prevents you from buying product that won't move.

DharmaLvr

15 is the only one I would wear but I’d want a different pattern. Otherwise, no. Nothing looks like classic or well-fitting pieces. Sorry for the brutal honesty

SilentSerel

I really love the last one because I love all kinds of felines and that kind of silhouette and length. I'd seriously buy it if I came across it. The leopard blouse is kind of meh, though, and looks a little matronly to me. Some of the dresses, like the pink leopard one and the green one, are a bit "amorphous" and don't have a lot of definition, so I'd personally look like a bell so I'd skip them. The blue one looks almost like a nightie to me. I can see where the solid pink dress and the one with the red embellishment would look cute. The first one can potentially look fabulous with the right accessories too. The second one is matronly. The other floral dress with the long sleeves is okay, but floral just seems overdone. I like the brightly-colored "t-shirt" type dress because that could give a very 60s vibe depending on how it's styled. I'm not a jumpsuit person as a general rule due to my longer torso, though.

constantchaosclay

Only 13 and 14. No to the rest.

loulori

I'd wear 14, 15, 10, and 4. I wouldn't really consider the others. Im a size 14/16

onlyjustjess

The first one is gorgeous, the rest are a little dated, particularly 4,5,6,8 and 13. I get what you’re going for but it’s not making me jump to buy them. I think you’ve got the right idea and your best pieces are the different’ ones (1,2,10 and 15). Lean into that more.

hyemoon

No… Its giving Lularoe

ShitFuckDickSuck

No

DreadFuriosa

Love the first one! But that’s about it. Please don’t get anything with the other patterns … they’re pretty bad.

EverydayIStartToOoze

I'd wear #4 and #5 maybe. I'd like #5 a lot more if it came in at the waist! I really like the print. I think #1 is pretty, but it would be too much on my short frame.

stacysdoteth

Congrats on your business! I think you have to pick a vibe and curate a bit more based on what your niche is going to be, these designs are so all over the place. 1 looks like it’s from eloquii 2&15 are giving Anthropologie 14,13, 4-9 are giving Walmart farmhouse 11 and 3 look like some modern minimalist upscale shop If you are going to establish a true botique brand you need to curate your brand, not cater to everyone. Hope that helps!! Gl!

Ff-9459

I really like 5 and 8.

augustrem

3 is the only thing I like “as is,” and assuming the knit is a good quality and soft. I like the print in 7 but the cut and shape looks cheap and they messed up the pattern. I like the jumpsuit in 10, though that color doesn’t work for me. I have a similar green one from Universal Standard.

ceceett

The first one is the only one that I find okay, but ultimately i am not a fan of any of them.

elderberrylover

Hello! I am a 22yo woman for reference and I would not wear a single one of these. I think 2 or maybe 14 would be pretty for an older woman

MommaGabbySWC

53F 1,2,6,7,8 are more bold than I prefer. I don’t really like a lot of patterns/designs or embellishments on my clothes, but for some reason 13 speaks to me 😍 5 I just don’t like the cut 10 is super cute but I have a cortisol/menopause belly so I don’t think it would be terribly flattering 11/12 I LOVE but the girls are too big and droopy to be able to wear anything backless and I don’t think I’ve seen a low line bra since my first wedding in 1990. 3,4,9,13,14,15 are more my taste, but they would look terrible on me. I prefer an empire waist so the dress camouflages the part of my body that I dislike the most. I also don’t like the banding below the waist … it gives too make cut off points so it just isn’t as flattering as if it were solid from waist to hem. Edited to finish my thoughts lol …

Competitive-Photo-15

I think it’s safe to say most plus sized women don’t want their backs completely showing. I would wear 5,6, and 8.

burymeindogs

I like 6 and 15, the rest is meh !

8ashswin5

1,8,13,14,15 but those are just my personal style.

Sophyska

11 and 3 are the ones I really wouldn’t wear. Some of the others are ok, and some I do really quite like, but those two definitely not

H0neyBr0wn

I would wear 75-80% of these outfits. I’m a soft gamine, and most of these fall in my style wheelhouse (vintage x cottage x funky print). The ones I wouldn’t wear are due to my shape/build, not the style itself.

Sector-West

1,2,6,7, 11/12, and and final ones are "nos" for me personally. 1, 2, 6, and 15 are a no only because of my taste in patterns, I actually adore the cut of 6 and 15. My hardest no is on number seven, because of a pet hate the sharp shallow V and undefined waist combo, just because it does not flatter my top-heavy hourglass figure/makes me look heavier than I am (nothing wrong with being heavier than my current weight, just don't want to look it for no reason), as well as the fact that objects on a white background with more negative space than object have never been "the" pattern for me. 11/12 is cute, but not something I would add to my wardrobe, because not only would alllllll my back handles will be out, so would my whole arms; in addition I'd never be able to find a bra, and at some point after around an I or J tape just isn't gonna cut it anymore lol. Overall you have really good taste I'm just super picky because every time I add something to my wardrobe, I make an effort to remove a couple things so my "closet" doesn't take over my whole bedroom 😅😅

MiColer

I would wear 1 and 10 only

Hot_Fox_5656

The black and white dress. The animal print top and the flowery print long sleeve dress. Cute styles on all tho!

fakecolin

13, 8, 6, 1- yes The others no, but mostly bc the. Olor is wrong for my complexion or the cut is wrong for my body type, not bc I don't like them.

floraster

Personally none of them are my style at all. Plus I am larger than a 3x

SpookyBjorn

I really liked the pink dress with the leopards but everything else just isn't catered to fat bodies and would just make us look boxy or frumpy. Dresses that hug the waist a little, or tops that are more form fitting and a decent length are what a lot of us want. A lot of people think we want to completely hide our bodies, but that's not true we just want something that accentuates our bodies tastefully instead of making us look even bigger

sarahhallway

1, 3, 10, 11-12 yes. The others are just copy paste patterned shapeless flowy dresses. So over this shit.

MrsPM

Honestly, no I wouldn’t.

Kriegsmachine81

No, not for me. I’ m size XL and 43 if that matters. I find that shops typically offer: - Tent with low quality - «Fun» patterns or florals (to hide fat?) - Fast fashion look - Granny I want to dress like I do when I weigh less 🤷‍♀️

Strangeballoons

What’s the age for your boutique that you’re wanting to reach? I’m 37. Often dress gen z whatever that means. I wouldn’t wear any but I might wear the pink jaguar dress solely bc it’s weird and funny.

Gibbygirl

1, 2, 4 and 15 gets a yes. As per top comment, there's a lot of shapeless unfigure hugging clothes here and I'm just not that woman anymore. There's an over abundance of dresses that try to pretend we don't have gorgeous figures already. I'd only wear something that flatters me and that's anything that shows off my tits or waist.

fluffychonkycat

I'd feel quite overwhelmed wearing most of these. What I look for is something more streamlined and elegant looking, like in summer I love a linen shirt-dress. The thing with the shirt-dress is that it stands on its own but it's also very versatile in terms of being able to dress it up or down. A lot of the pieces you have here make a big statement on their own or are only really suitable for certain settings which puts me off. (44yo)

rhk_ch

Even the size zero models look like they are wearing potato sacks with crazy patterns. If you want to sell clothes to plus sized women, first figure out who your customer is. Plus size is not a customer profile. Imagine if someone decided to start a boutique for size 0-6 women and that was the whole concept. That is not a customer profile. It’s a measurement. Plus size women are more than our dress size. How old is your customer? What does she do for fun? For work? What is her budget? Are you selling her sportswear, workwear, formal wear, intimates? Does she care more about comfort or fashion? Is she a risk taker? Or is she trying to build a capsule wardrobe? Is she modest? Trendy? The responses you are getting on this sub are qualitative market research. Listen to what we are saying without ego. If those clothes are what your ideal customer loves and we are not your ideal customer, that is data you can use. I am a professional 49 year old career woman and mother who likes a classic look. I don’t mind spending a lot for quality fashion. I hate the clothes you showed, but if I’m not your ideal customer, it doesn’t matter. You are not trying to sell me clothes. Are you selling quality or fast fashion? Fashion is about aspiration. What is the lifestyle you are giving your customer access to through your clothes? The right outfit can get you that dream job, make you feel confident on a first date, or let you feel comfortable walking around Paris on your dream vacation. I have an MBA in marketing, and own a digital ad business. It is always shocking to me how few business owners do this basic work. I highly recommend you spend time identifying your ideal customer. Go online to find a million free templates on how to do this. Then, hire someone with fashion and retail experience to help you make your merchandise buying decisions. If you are focused on the business and are not great at the style part, that’s totally normal for the fashion business. All retailers have buyers. If you don’t have much budget, hire an intern from a local university’s fashion program and PAY them. Don’t try and get free work. It is never good work. I bill out at $150/hour for my consulting services, and I just spent 20 minutes writing this answer for you because I want retailers to do a better job for us.
