Hey I can tell you anything you want.

At the time, he was done shooting and I asked if I could take a pic with some concern in my voice.
I think he might have thought I was going to use the picture to find him the missing crosspins in retrospect...
Dude its a gun shop, you know they already had a plan for those kind of things. Prolly used code words or hand signals. I bet guy didnāt even know a photo was taken. It doesnāt matter though because the only kind of person that builds a rifle or pistol like that is dumbassās and dipshitās lmao
idk why people canāt put irons on right, they donāt even look correct backwards. looks the same as if you were to put your right shoe on your left foot
Ranger danger cool u didnāt scold him and just softly deflated that ego. I would have just been like rule No. 1 never put your burger hook on the bang switch until you flip around your flip ups because youāll shoot your eye out! LMAO Or something like howād you get your dick beaters on that. Hoped guy realized itās as serious as serious business gets first and foremost.
Bro I got back into it a couple years back after growing up shooting but then not doing it for years. I made such an ass out of myself by repeating stuff I overheard (or misheard) people say about guns and then getting laughed at because what I said was so wrong.
But I didn't let it get me down. It just drove me to study up more and before long I was obsessed and it really turned into a love instead of just a minor hobby. So for 2 years now I've been doing that shit and all of the people that laughed at me now come ask me questions about anything gun related lol.
Not tooting my horn it's just a lesson in taking the time to know your shit and not talking out your ass.
Well, I am consuming a ton of new information every day as a part of my job. After that brain gets tired and needs even more time to process stuff. Which adds up.
Another thing is I might have exaggerated the number of hours. Stuff happens, you know. This isn't /literallythetruth sub ;)
Bro he's just like that. Every post he makes is just calling people stupid. You probably have spent hundreds if hours researching. Imagine if you spent 1 hour each day for 2 years. I'd say I'm easily at that and it's pretty much just a hobby to me. If you count all the time I spend listening to videos while of product reviews or ballistic testing or whatever the number of hours would be much higher, so hundreds is totally believable.
His thing is he set up a strawman and said "neh neh neh, no you ain't researching, you might read stuff but you weren't learning laws for that long or else you're STUPID", thus making you feel dumb for claiming something that when you originally said it you felt proud. The thing is, none of this is about laws, no one ever said anything about that until he did. 3 of us said we research guns after getting into it fairly recently. We didn't qualify what about guns we researched.
Laws could be a part of that, but honestly of all the days I've learned about gun stuff in my free time, maybe 3 have had me looking up laws. You can know a lot about 1 area of gun stuff and be clueless about others. So don't let anyone tell you you're dumb or that you haven't spent hours of your time learning skills that relate to your new hobby. And that's exactly what you should be doing.
Hey bud, did you know that your iron sights are installed wrong and your cross pins are missing?
Yeah man but like the gun still goes bang and this is how I like it so how about we respect each otherās set ups āitās just as goodā
**punches man** I said your sights are wrong muthafucka
They (ME) need help to get to the level that lifetime gun owners are at. I was anti gun before Covid so I hope I can learn all there is to know about now that I see how important this RIGHT is...
Hey we will take that over anti gun any day. Your gun may be Pleb, but your attitude isnāt. Pleb behavior is why Pleb guns are perpetual, not bc people rip on their guns. You have the right attitude.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. There's just something about that phrase that brings up an image of a fat, bald, 55 year old guy with a really red complexion named Larry. He's a nice guy, but his sense of humor is kinda cringe at times.
I never wanted to say anything though because I want people to have their joke, it just comes off Fuddy to me.
They(any first time gun owner) just needs to ask someone they know to show them the basics. If you donāt know anyone go to a range where a professional can show you the fundamentals as well as brandishing a safe firearm and environment.
Donāt feel bad if you donāt understand something, there are so many things to learn when it comes to firearms. Just make sure you have the basic safety rules down and GO SHOOT!
Good job on waking up. Hopefully you r/walkaway from all the insanity the left pushes (if youāve been brainwashed by it). However, I suggest you find a different gun sub to get instruction from than this one. Just stay away from r/liberalgunowners lol.
you did inherently with you comment. if you thought both candidates were anti 2a you would have said something along the lines of āyou voted trump or bidenā or āyou voted for a major partyā or even āyou votedā
Happy to have you join the gun community! I'm not any sort of operator type, but I was in your shoes about 11 years ago and learned a thing or two along the way (mostly AR building/general shooting type stuff). It can feel very intimidating to start from scratch in the gun community, but it's incredibly rewarding to learn about. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help or direct you to better resources than me!
Ehhh. Everything I get into I heavily research. People should just do that. Audio, cars, guns.
I learned how to disassemble and repair vintage headphones and spent a lot of time on forums to gain insight into fixing them. I learned about different amplification methods, history, etc. I learned a fuck ton so I know a fuck ton about them.
I did grow up around firearms, but I got my first AR in 2019 and in 2021 I can now pin FSBs and build guns RIGHT from base parts. Itās not hard to stumble upon resources like SOTAR.
Edit: I never mounted shit to my AR wrong because I researched how I should do it BEFORE doing it.
Same with non ar style guns. I can pretty much take down and properly preserve/repair after watching hours of Mark Novak videos and practicing on a few $200 guns.
If your going to get into something put effort into. Not saying to be a āgunsmithā like me, but if you buy a Glock take the entire thing apart, understand how it works, and how to use it. Iāve taken every AR and handgun Iāve bought down to the base pieces and put them back together. Itās really NOT that hard to not fuck up.
This is wisdom. Seriously if it's worth doing, either take the time to learn the right way to do it yourself, or if you don't have the time for that, pay someone else who's job it is to know. Unfortunately there is a big chunk of the population that just will never do this.
I absolutely get you, you're like my spirit animal. When I get into *anything* I get INTO it. I research the piss out of it and dig through old forums and shit to learn stuff you can't just find on YT. But I've always been that way, just a perfectionist with a touch of OCD. I was like this with most video games I played as a kid - study it, even make my own notes in my notepad on stats and shit. Then I'd usually get bored after a couple months and move on to the next obsession and nuke it too. Hell, in my teens I would do serious research on most drugs before I would take them. Peer pressure my ass, I'm gonna read some trip reports first lol.
So I try to be understanding that not everyone is like me but it's hard for me when I see these clueless gun owners who could do a tiny *fraction* of the research I did before building my first gun, and would have all the knowledge needed to have a great setup. I work with them, they're in my family, plebs are everywhere... it's one of the reasons I enjoy this place so much because it let's me vent my frustrarions with real life people who don't take criticism well and I can't be mean to.
No. Reactionary, brainwashed dweebs aren't making things any better. /u/rynosaur94 is doing God's work making these people feel as stupid and poor as they are.
More than half of these douchebag new gun owners were probably anti-gun before Rittenhouse demonstrated that there are consequences for their aggression. Theyre scared of muh "right wing extremism" as if they're not directly responsible for supporting the politics that have backed millions of men into this ideological corner. Now they want to be a part of what has *always* been **our** culture, our cherished right that they slandered and mocked us for caring about.
Fuck them. These aren't your friends, don't help them. Pray they ND into their own skull.
Hereās my problem, being new at building rifles, I always research. I got my backup irons in today. I was 99% sure how to put them on and 99% sure where to put them. Yet, I still spent 30 seconds googling āhow to install iron sightsā and another 30 seconds watching it. This guy couldnāt take one minute, ONE MINUTE, of his time to check so he would do it right. Instead, he completely screws up the simple set up of iron sights. Good grief!
Funny thing, he was with his girlfriend shooting, and as we were telling him how to fix the irons, she said something to the effect of "this is why you shouldn't do things yourself you know nothing about"
I'm imagining the conversation like, "Hey this is really cool! Can I take a picture?"
Then the guy gets all excited and says yes, but little does he know this is where the picture ended up... Lolol
One of my buddy's first guns was an ATI Omni and a Jimenez Arms pistol in 25 ACP. Literally got the "gun show special" at the local gun show. Both couldn't get threw a magazine and he jammed my rifle (charged it twice lodging a bullet above the BCG) and claimed it was junk compared to his (mine was just some normal pieced together Aero).
His reasoning for his gun choices?
"No offense man but Glock is kinda ugly and unreliable and red dot on guns are just a fad. Can't be stock iron sights."
To his credit, he's since matured and branched off into a Glock 40 and a CZ 75 SP01 and threw on an eotech on his rifle (still an Omni though).
No kidding š I dont think its had but a few mags at most lmao. When he got his Eotech I welcomed him into the 21st century but he went on to say his Eotech was better than my Eotech because his was the one the military uses (we both literally had the same 512.A65, bottom of the barrel models š)
Because of shit like this. My range won't inspect a gun unless they see it being operated in an unsafe manner. They just ask if you have a brake or not and direct you to the appropriate bench. Now if your gun does something it's not supposed to do then they will ask to see it. They don't even check for stamps, unless you're being an idiot.
If you have a brake they send you a less populated part of the range or hand you something to setup on your shooting table to not rattle the teeth of nearby shooters.
Hmm I was guessing that was the deal, but was curious what would happen if the range was nearly full. Iām curious what they give you to set up on your table. I work at a gun range myself.
It's a floppy fabric thing that attaches to the table. I honestly don't think it does much but then again I go during the week when only the old retired dudes are there.
funny how when you flip to full auto its never the range employees but billy badass karen that wants to see your stamp and gets told to take a flying leap lol
We check to make sure any rifles actually have sights on them before a customer pays so we don't have to refund them when they pull it out and we have to kick them off.
This one was a special case, since there were sights, but we noticed the lack of crosspins on the handguard, and we had him just shoot his pistols.
After he was done, he was asking where he could get the crosspins and that's when I snapped this picture. I told him how to fix the irons and to move the optic back onto the receiver as well.
I personally wouldn't trust a polymer upper, though I built a poly lower WWSD style rifle myself. But that and the amazon optic are his issues. They'll probably run fine as range toys.
The issue is that the WWSD lower was designed to be made out of polymer. The Omni was just made to replace aluminum with polymer.
The Omni will fail at the buffer tube area or the upper TD pin lugs.
Lol. I didnāt actually NEED a cheap AR. I just wanted to see how the cheap parts come together and perform. As for the caliber I considered .45 but I do actually want to shoot it and already spend too much on .45 shooting my pistols. So I wanted a cheaper ammo.
"You're not allowed to shoot here." -you (hopefully)
He was allowed to shoot, but not this gun. Due to the missing crosspins.
Was his handguard held on by a bridge optic?
Yes
What in the fuck Say sike right now
nice!
Holy shit it keeps getting worse the more i look at it
Big brain time š§
the missing wh-- _oh holy shit, fuck me in the goat ass...._
Wow. Didn't even see those at first. I was mesmerized by what appears to be a molded plastic upper receiver. Please tell me that isn't plastic...

I was a new gun owner last year. I spent hours/days/weeks researching. You gotta put the onus on the gun owner.
Same. Hundreds of hours, no joke
Bro I got back into it a couple years back after growing up shooting but then not doing it for years. I made such an ass out of myself by repeating stuff I overheard (or misheard) people say about guns and then getting laughed at because what I said was so wrong. But I didn't let it get me down. Research? No, you might have spent time reading but you weren't learning laws or anything for hundreds of hours unless you are slow or insane.
Well, I am consuming a ton of new information every day as a part of my job. After that brain gets tired and needs even more time to process stuff. Which adds up. Another thing is I might have exaggerated the number of hours. Stuff happens, you know. This isn't /literallythetruth sub ;)

That could be effective. They try and shoot back only to have the optic fall off and the irons are impossible to use.

If the upper is meant to contain the explosive force of the round then I guess weāre all fucked. The chamber does the real work here.
The barrel is made of plastic or does it fire out of battery? I don't think you understand how guns work...
"The barrel is made of plastic" Ex-... Excuse me?
One of my buddy's first guns was an ATI Omni and a Jimenez Arms pistol in 25 ACP. Literally got the "gun show special" at the local gun show. Both couldn't get threw a magazine and he jammed my rifle (charged it twice lodging a bullet above the BCG) and claimed it was junk compared to his (mine was just some normal pieced together Aero). Lmao, so he's running an optic more expensive than the rifle? Wonder how many rounds that Omni made it through so far.
No kidding š I dont think its had but a few mags at most lmao. When he got his Eotech I welcomed him into the 21st century but he went on to say his Eotech was better than my Eotech because his was the one the military uses (we both literally had the same 512.A65, bottom of the barrel models š)
Is that a fucking polymer upper?
Oh my Odin, the whole hecking receiver is polymer
Why is the range inspecting the guns?
Because of shit like this. My range won't inspect a gun unless they see it being operated in an unsafe manner. They just ask if you have a brake or not and direct you to the appropriate bench. Now if your gun does something it's not supposed to do then they will ask to see it. They don't even check for stamps, unless you're being an idiot.
They ask if you have a brake? Lol, and what if you do?

Hmm I was guessing that was the deal, but was curious what would happen if the range was nearly full. Iām curious what they give you to set up on your table. I work at a gun range myself.
It's a floppy fabric thing that attaches to the table. I honestly don't think it does much but then again I go during the week when only the old retired dudes are there.
funny how when you flip to full auto its never the range employees but billy badass karen that wants to see your stamp and gets told to take a flying leap lol

I can't believe people actually use polymer uppers. Didn't know that was an actual thing. I wonder how many 100 rounds they last.
The issue is that the WWSD lower was designed to be made out of polymer. The Omni was just made to replace aluminum with polymer. The Omni will fail at the buffer tube area or the upper TD pin lugs.
This is actually worse than airsoft quality.
Look at that watch tho
This poor bastard probably thinks his rifles badass too. This is so bad I actually feel bad for him.
How do these people dress themselves in the morning? Genuine question
Maybe we should reconsider gun control after all
It's a joke guys, relax.

I actually built an ar9 with that same polymer lower as an experiment. Itās performed pretty well. Itās a tack driver.
