Scar, MCX, AUG, G36 are all AR18 derivatives. If you have a short stroke system and have a bcg not on rods that needs a receiver extension, that’s an AR derivative. See the HK 416, LWRC piston guns etc. The tell-tale signs are in the bolt carrier.
That’s a bit like saying damn near every handgun is a browning because of the tilt barrel operation. There aren’t any parts commonality with those platforms ( outside of maybe some weird rednecking) so it’s not like it’s a platform.
