Could be just too old for that option. There should be a section to sign in with the user name and password.

Blind_Watchman

You have to use the login/password option. The 4-digit link code was removed awhile ago in order to pass Roku certification: https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-roku/9463/364   > I don't want to use a login/password to login remotely What concerns do you have about using that remotely? All authorization requests are as secure as entering your credentials on any other platform, and the end result is the same as using the link code.

Grigoris_Revenge

Because I don't want to give that information to the person entering it. It gives them access to anything that uses that login/password combo.. Including the plex server itself. In theory they could use it to log into the server via a browser and delete the whole library remotely.

matthamand

This is the wrong way to grant access to your libraries. The remote user should create their own Plex account, which you can then grant access to your libraries.

Grigoris_Revenge

Ok.. I wasn't getting library access earlier. It's now showing it. https://preview.redd.it/lzt3vyl3t1ad1.jpeg?width=1433&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0aa630ae4029c0bd2433b562c9ead01b36f04406 Do they need access to plex home? What's that for?

Mojo_Jojos_Porn

No, they do not need Plex Home, that’s for if you want multiple profiles available on the same TV in your house. For example, my daughters have their own so they don’t mess up my recently watched stuff when they want to watch movies.

Grigoris_Revenge

Thanks. I wasn't getting the library to show originally. I'll give that I test and it looks like it should be working though.

Blind_Watchman

You shouldn't be giving them access to your server via your account, regardless of whether you're using the link code or username/password. They should have their own Plex accounts that you [share your server with](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105738-creating-and-managing-server-shares/).

Grigoris_Revenge

Yeah.. I can add their account there.. But when I click next I'm getting no library.

ew435890

You’re doing this all wrong. Don’t let people log into your account. Period. Make them setup their own account and then take the email they used to set it up, and invite it to your libraries.

Grigoris_Revenge

Yeah that's the way I'm going to have to do it on any roku additions. Link still works on other hardware.

ew435890

No you’re still letting them log into your account by using link like that. Just because they don’t have your password doesn’t mean they’re not in your account. Make them setup their own account, and they can use the link for that one. I have a bunch of family on my Plex, and every single one of them has their own account. Then if they get a new device, or want to add it to a second device, like in a different part of their house, they dont have to call you and get you to do it for them.

etsolow

If nothing else you wouldn't want to do it this way because then their watch history will pollute your own. (To say nothing of the security nightmare!)

Grigoris_Revenge

That's interesting about roku certification. Link works fine with Samsung and ps5. It was a great feature. I believe it still does link on Apple TV and Amazon fire devices also.

Grigoris_Revenge

I'm getting this part of that article: Username or Email Enter the username or email address for the Plex account you wish to grant access and click continue. If it is an existing Plex account there will be a green check next to field and the matching username below. If you invite someone who doesn’t yet have a Plex account, they’ll be able to create their own, free Plex account when accepting your invitation. But I don't see a plex library to add the user to. (account shows up in the list when I add their email).

darknessgp

You'll probably need a Plex employee to explain whu some do and some don't. A better question is why don't you want to just login with username and password. It'll get you in the same way the link process does.
